In X of Swords, Creation, the event’s first part, Saturnyne, the Omniversal Majestrix, freezes the Krakoa vs Arakko mutant war to set them up for a tournament of champions in which each side will wield 10 majestic blades.
All the swords get named, and based on Marvel’s promotional art we can align the blades to characters. On the X side of things we will cover:
The Muramasa Blade - Wolverine
The Sword of Might - Brian Braddock
The Starlight Sword - Betsy Braddock
Grasscutter & Godkiller - Gorgon
Warlock - Doug Ramsey
The Soul Sword - Magik
The Scarab - Apocalypse
The Light of Galador - Cable

About Comic Book Herald:
My name's Dave, and Comic Book Herald is a labor of love designed to help new, lapsed, and curious comic book readers explore and enjoy the wonderful world of comics. I've been developing reading orders, chronology guides, and detailed comics recommendations since late 2011. Comics can be confusing and intimidating; I try to help. - Розваги
I think the reason why Gorgon doesn't go on the expedition is because it did NOT have the Quiet Council's blessing. So it's not an oversight, the captains aren't going on this unofficial mission, its volunteers only.
Absolutely correct! Alex even tells Lorna that when she asks him why he is joining this adventure. "As this is all extra Council, Scott couldn't really come, so he asked me to keep an eye on things." I guess they've kissed and made up after the whole Maddie is not being resurrected decision?? 😂✌❤😎
@@DragonReborn3769 I sure hope not lol, lorna deserves some time to shine on her own before having another man in her life
@@joshuakaamino3644 I have a feeling she will have time to shine plenty in the X-Factor series. I can't wait to read more of that series!
@@joshuakaamino3644 I meant Alex and Scott making up! ✌❤😎

Skybreaker the reforged of Stormcaster
That where I’m heading with it
Do you mean Stormebreaker.... Like Thor destroyed Beta Ray Bill's hammer and in an X-men cross over with Thor they will use the shards to make a new blade.
Heckin' People: "Swords are not X-men!"

I love your channel bro
THANK YOU CBH! you give the fans what they want 👍
Even if magical swords are the last thing on my list of reasons for reading an X-men comic, I still enjoy your analysis and theories. They are often better than the actual comics that eventually come out. I hope this event actually progresses Hickman's original plot. Take a look at a video from this channel titled "X-Men Dawn of X: 2020 Theories & Predictions!", at 06:00. Now THAT is what I am here for. Apocalypse and Horsemen are the last even in his list! I know that I am repeating myself but I still can't fathom why they chose THIS plot line as the first major event.
It's a storyline widely different from our usual "evil human willing to destroy whole mutantdom" (or vice versa), so kudos for that
They are missing 2 very prominent swords from Marvel history.
The Phoenix Blade, that belongs to Korvus Rook'shir.
And, thankfully, absent is All-Black the Necrosword. With how much they are shoving Symbiotes and Null down our throats lately I half expected it/them to put in an appearance.
Totally believe Storm and Black Panther are gonna tie the knot again by the way Coates run has been going but also to help better the relationship of Wakanda and what I believe is going to be Okarra by the end of this event.
While I would like that royal re-wedding they're one of my top 5 marvel couples (you can't beat Jess and luke in my opinion), I think just tying the knot then escalating tensions between X-men and Avengers is waaaaaay to Deja vu of what happened last time. I think they should go deeper into the relationship make it harder on them when tensions rise, me personally I'm hearing the pitter patter of panther cubs in the future.
@@bradonbriffa9690 Hey! I tried to comment on the reply you made to me but it's not showing up??? I like your theory but have to ask...how would S.W.O.R.D. lead the merry mutants to Rasputin and the Cerebro Sword? I think it's a red herring and will be used in the Rasputin/Colossus/Omega Red story arc coming up in X-Force after all the ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ Crossing my fingers for Strange Academy! 😉✌❤😎
@@DragonReborn3769 I made a mistake I was talking about Chimera Rasputin
“Swords. More swords!”

I think the reason Magik was surprised to see Warlock was not because he was there, it was because he was separated from Douglas.
great review of the swords, that was needed information for this event. thanks!
Super insightful, very well organized and researched, really appreciated this, as I muddle my way through X of Swords, thanks!
I'm excited as to how the Blade of the Phoenix is involved in this.
I feel like it's possible that Betsy's sword is just a sword she creates with her powers.
I was already “eeeeeeeeekig”! When I was the video upload but your tone and the way you introduced it in the beginning got me even more hype! Yuuuuuuus, thank you!
Once again you nailed the triple lindee, excellent job covering so many stories that force us to know about subtle themes from the past to pay off for big future pay off’s the big 1’s being Cypher & Doug, the Braddock family, & the Storm, Tchalla connection (my fav) the last 1 having so many juicy plays even down to a Namor flex 🤞🏿
I still don't understand why there are 11 swords mentioned for Arrako? Where the last mentioned sword was Muramasa then it was first for Krakoa... isn't it just a way to show that they are actually talking at the same time and mentioning all the swords all together? Lol my head hurts. 😭
That hadn't crossed my mind, but it actually makes sense
Wow, that was quick! Awesome video as usual Dave! I love your idea that S.W.O.R.D. might work as the 10th sword and its inclusion is obviously important as Saturnyne basically said the Krakoan mutants cannot win without it. Cable already fighting on Amenth? WOW!? That would be awesome! FYI, Apocalypse can speak with Krakoa just as well as Cypher as viewed in HoX 5. Yes, no Cerebro Sword is a totes let down...I guess they're saving it for the Rasputin/Colossus/Omega Red/Xeno story arc? I think it's hard to imagine that any of us viewers can be as in depth as you (at least speaking for myself...I've actually seen many comments with amazing insight as well) but am glad you are always asking for our own theories and ideas. I noticed your use of The Rob in this video!! 😂 Fun/rhetorical question: isn't it a great time to be a reader of all things X? ✌❤😎
You predicted the sword base position? Genius!
Great, great video essay!
Good Man !!
Thank you !!
i know what I'm listening to when i make dinner
Dinner was eXcellent. Thank you man your badass
This is so good, I love that some of these blades are getting brought back. As a huge Secret Warriors fan seeing Gorgan and those swords at least be brought back in some way is really doing it for me.
I would love a issue where gorgon trains everyone in using actually the swords, since he's actually a top level swordsman (with wolverine too) and the rest? Well don't know if they're that much experienced 😅
Remember the Black Blade, also forged by Muramasa ? It ended in the hands of the Silver Samurai, in the first episode of the first Wolverine ongoing Solo Serie ? Never seen again...
marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Blade_(Muramasa)
very cool!
I would have thought that the Pheonix Sword from Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire and KingBreaker would have been in here.
Why is there 11 swords for the arokkii side?
1-twilight blade 2-mercy 3-vermillion 4-red sword of war 5-colony 6-black bones of amdust 7-seducer 8-pogg ur-pogg 9-purity 10-alluvium 11-muramasa
Obsessin' Okkara 😂 Thanks for the infodump. I'm already speculating about how they are going to gather some of these swords.
I propose Solem is the spirit that was contained within the original blade that possessed Spider-Woman
Fear itself gave us hammers galore. Dawn of X gave us...too many swords. Sword-Jokes def on their way
Really Enjoying your Content.
Also, not pretentious, just helping,
Daken is pronounced
(Dah - Ken)
Muramasa is pronounced
(More - Ah - Mah - Sah)

Skybreaker might be Ashake’s sword
The Ashake theory lives on! ✌❤😎
DragonReborn3769 I’ve seen scans of Storms sword and it looks like that lightning sword Ashake had.
@@blacknyx19 That would be awesome! And if true... Dave called it! 😊✌❤😎
DragonReborn3769 he sure did
@@blacknyx19 Ashake's sword is different. Its way more powerful. It is the sword of Bones. One of the cornerstones of the marvel Multiverse.
On your theory of Braddocks = VEERRRRY interesting. I like the idea that Jaime meddled with Brian and made him a mutant. IF we go back to first run of Excalibur, we can see just how powerful Jaime's reality warping is.
Interesting note on the current Braddock family= Brain has been the only non-mutant in his family. Elder brother Jaime is a mutant. His twin sister, Betsy, is a mutant. His wife, Meggan, is a mutant. Even his daughter, Maggie, is a mutant.
Big -A- has already shown that families where mutants are commonly born to, like the Guthries, are seen as 'a prestigious family'. (seen when he met Melody Guthrie in the Crucible)
Maybe Jaime wanted make his family 'one big mutant family'.
But seriously, I'm going with the idea that Jaime is just an a-hole and wants to mess with his brother.
Good content.
Even funnier is Solem is an Anagram for Elmos, now that would be a great name.
Going up against the X-Men are the Swordbearers of Arakko - ten mysterious enemies, most of whom are newly created for this story (and who you can learn more about right here), but at least one of whom, whose name is still classified, appears to be a known character from the X-Men mythos.
I wonder who that is? Could it be Stryfe or Maddie?
Now that we know that there are two maramusa blades (parts 2&3) do you think the arokii have 11 swords because the cerebro sword will bring the krakoan side up to 11 swords?
2:45 I like to think he travel to Amenth as a vacation one day
Upcoming X-Men Annual 1...Summers Vacay on the sandy shores of the Amenthi Ocean! Scott in a speedo, Jeanie in a bikini! 😂✌❤😎
Another great video bro, only one thing. Wolverine's son's name isn't Dik-kan, as you pronounced. It's Daken, pronounced DAY-KEN meaning mongrel. I've heard a lot of people mispronouncing it as DAH-KEN, which couldn't be further from the truth. But still, Daken is DAY-KEN.
I also hope that Brian is a mutant now. My theory is that he alredy has the X-Gen but Jamie with his powers unlock his mutant powers. Also I have a theory. Maybe Brian was always a mutant but Merlin lock his mutant powers so he wouldn't be hated by the British humans as his duty was to protect UK and Otherworld. Even Saturnyne said this to Betsy, that it was dangerous that she was both Captain Britain and a mutant. I hope that Brian is a mutant as you say, so he could make a home with his family in Krakoa.
I think the being wielding the twilight sword is indeed Surtur. Or if not Surtur himself it is his original twilight sword because if you recall in Walt Simonson's run on Thor way back when Surtur had to forge a new twilight sword, leading me to believe that perhaps whoever was wielding the twilight sword that split krakoa and arako had perhaps stolen Surtur's twilight sword and then being sealed away in amenth with similar demons to Surtur's fire demons the twilight sword was unavailable to Surtur and thus Surtur had to forge a new twilight sword
I believe in Marauders 13 Storm goes to Wakanda to retrieve Skybreaker.
Also apropos of nothing related to XoS, it was reported that Coates won't be writing Black Panther in 2021...his BP run was supposed to have ended in June this year with issue 25 but C-19 happened, now with the last couple of issues being delayed with no word on publishing dates.
U really good
Dave is the man! ✌❤😎
Legitimate LOL at the Major X joke.
A sword made with Celestial Tech would be incredible, and because it’s Big A’s sword, than that’s just a given!
OR it’s Magneto wielding all 10 lol
The blade of the Phoenix is not part right?
I hope the skybreaker sword is made of both artic vibranium and regular vibranium, and they did hinted tgat storm and Black Panther are still a couple seeing yhst Storm has a dagger thats made of vibranium
Thanks for your great Krakin' Krakoa videos !!!
Isn't arakko side with 11 swords listed? Any thoughts on that? Would it be another hint that Muramasa changes sides at some point? Someone wielding two swords? Is it a print error (Muramasa should be only on krakoa side)? Or did I count them wrong?
I found it weird that none of the reviews so far seem to comment on this
1 twilight blade
2 mercy
3 vermilion
4 red sword of war
5 colony
6 black bone of amduat
7 seducer
8 pogg ur-pogg
9 purity
10 alluvium
11 muramasa
Now that Gwenpool is a mutant and lives on the island hope she gets into this since she uses swords
good call out on the Cerebro Sword. Feels weird that they showed a gun in act one, but it's not going to fire in the 3rd act
I’m sure it will
My question is how would Kate fair against Isca the unbeaten. Can you beat someone you can't touch.
Great story. My question is will the caribro sword play a roll in this story?
Cerebro
What happened to the sword magneto crafted from cerebro?
Now in the hands of Mikhail Rasputin, stolen from Kid Omega.
⚔️
Will Holocaust/Genocide pop up or is he still dead? He’s Apocalypse’s son too right?
Still dead as far as I know, and probably very down the list of mutants to be resurrected ^^;
Nero Black I was thinking of that recently. It’d be cool to see Apocalypses relationship with his other son haha.
Jon Ramirez Genocide is the version that was born in 616, and Holocaust was born in AOA. Wtf haha I thought they were the same character!!
I'm kinda pissed off that there is NO Sword to be wielded by NIGHTCRAWLER for obvious reasons...😠
So nobody will even mention that Pepe Larraz is the best artist to draw the X-Men since Jim Lee?
Since the Cerebro Sword isn’t listed do you think it will be the ‘X Factor’ in X of Swords ????
I think Hickman is reserving it for the X-Force or main X-Men series. I was hoping it would appear in X of Swords because I'm antsy to see its powers.
@@cjtrules1 X-factor is apart of the main series this isn't like recent series with tie ins, all the issues of X-men matter they are chapters of the same story.
@@darthonyx2382 I'm not talking about the issues that are part of the event. Before the event starting there are individual X titles. X-Factor being one of them.
Ask got a Muramasa blade from bell with wolverine. He didn't just have it from some other place.
Storm's sword is from Wakanda. This was shown already. What's up with your info?
I think it’s pretty obvious why the CÉREBRO sword Wasn’t included in x of swords... the sword is made out of fragments of a shattered helmet. It was neither forged or stock removed. It would most likely break on impact when used in battle. The same way the helmet shattered. I think it was more of a symbol than an actual weapon
If Magneto can build whole buildings with beautiful architecture & structural integrity, then I'm pretty sure he can make a sword that won't just break on impact lol.
I haven’t reread the issue in a while but yeah I’m pretty sure the Cerebro sword was just a metaphor for the Sword of Damocles. A symbol to remind Xavier that they still aren’t safe and with great power comes great danger.
wont lie, little disappointed the Blade of the Phoenix isn't making an appearance.
IIRC, Blade of the Phoenix had a spark of the Phoenix in it.
When Blade of the Phoenix called back all his scattered remnants to become whole again, the Phoenix Blade became a normal sword.
@@christopheouvrard8548 I'm sure, but some of these other blades have been broken or need to be forged. Just kind of an iconic blade was my thought process here.
The longer the Hickman run ignores anything Phoenix related the better. It’s a overused trope in X-men history and almost always poorly used
@@mgiosia Anything can be rebuilt in the comics world, but I believe Hickman is going to keep anything Phoenix related for the end of his run, for the final confrontation against the Sentient Black Holes.
@@210SAi Absolutely do not want to see anything regarding Phoenix! But it's coming...🙄✌❤😎
Grasscutter AND The Red Sword of War... Warlock and Colony... The Twilight Sword aaaand Skybreaker?
Polaris is the 11 sword.
Eye Boy, who wields an unnamed sword covered in eyes, much like his own body, which allow him to see in many different spectrums of light and more.
Gorgon, a deadly mutant warrior who wields the blade Godkiller - known to live up to its name.
Scalphunter, one of Mr. Sinister's villainous mutant-hunting Marauders now a member of the Hellions, wielding an unnamed, somewhat technologically advanced sword.
Rachel Grey, Cyclops and Jean Grey's powerful psychic daughter from an alternate timeline, wielding the Phoenix Blade, a Shi'Ar artifact that channels the Phoenix Force.
Professor X, wielding the Cerebro Sword, part of the codex of mutant identity that allows mutantkind to be resurrected after being killed.
Cypher, the mutant whose power involves understanding and speaking any language or form of communication, who wields a blade made of his techno-organic pal/sorta symbiote Warlock.
Captain Britain/Betsy Braddock, wielding the psychic blade of her telekinetic power.
An unnamed member of the Children of the Atom, wielding an angelic sword of some kind.
Domino, wearing what appears to be the Satan Claw, a Hydra artifact that drains lifeforce from both its wielder and victims.
Apocalypse, wielding an ancient Egyptian khopesh blade - likely the sword known as 'Scarab' which was named in X of Swords: Creation #1.
Captain Britain/Brian Braddock, Betsy's brother, wielding the Sword of Light, originally given to Dane Whitman/the Black Knight by the Lady of the Lake.
Psylocke/Kwannon wielding a katana, probably Grasscutter, the opposite of Godkiller.
Cable, wielding the Light of Galador, an ancient weapon of the SpaceKnights. There's evidence he'll also pilot the SWORD base in the story.
Cyclops, wielding what could be the neuro-disrupting Photon Blade which was used by Black Knight for a time in the 90s.
Iceman, wielding a blade apparently made of his own ice form.
Storm, wielding a blade of lightning - probably the sword known as 'Skybreaker' from X of Swords: Creation #1.
Wolverine, wielding the ancient katana Muramasa, which he has often carried.
Nightcrawler, wielding a traditional fencing rapier, which he's often carried into battle - though this might be a specific sword.
Magik, wielding her Soul Sword, though it looks a bit different than usual.
Armor, whose sword appears to be made of the same mystic energy as the armor she manifests with her mutant power.
Pixie 🧚♂️ created a dagger they should’ve added her transform that dagger to a sword
... can Moira be resurrected?
Good question wonder if we’ll ever see that answered. As far as we know Moira’s lifespan is directly related to the existence of that timeline/universe. At least that’s my understanding
11 Swords are listed on the Arakko side. I'm guessing that Pogg ur-Pogg listed there was an error. Remove his name, and you're back down to 10.
Its Arrako the original Island as a whole
It was cut in to half, Krakoa and Orrako
No, it was first Okkara before it was split into 2: Krakoa and Arakko.
On the Soulsword, there is another option- 2 different Soulswords. Remember back when Magik first came back, she was able to lead Pixie to create her own Soul Dagger that is separate from Illyana's Soulsword. So it's possible for Illyana to assist Kate to create her own Soulsword.
Creating a Soulsword damages your soul. Illyana wouldn't let Kate go through that
@@KajiXD True, even if Kate's soul was already damaged by Ogun, when he made her his "daughter of the demon"
For those that may not remember/never read the Kitty Pryde & Wolverine mini series=Ogun kindnapped and using a combo of mystics and psychic talent, he brainwashed Kitty. In it we see a process the mirrors, yet is different what Belasco did to Illyana. Whereas Belasco took a piece of soul out of young 'Yana, aged it to adulthood in his image, Ogun took a piece of Kitty, de-aged it to infancy and then "raised" it, shaping it into his image but that part still was within her.
At end of series, Logan states such a soul taint that Ogun placed can never be removed.
Many fans missed that and thought it was a brainwashing same was what Hand, Hydra, ect has done and once broken, she went back to normal and forgot all those skills.
In Shadow & Flame we saw that's not the case and indeed it was a soul taint. In that mini- a former student of Ogun's tests Kitty's skills and states she still all the skills Ogun gave her.
excalibur =/= the sword in the stone
You gotta start working for Marvel
Quentin Quire will use the cerebro sword.
Pierre Narvaez and he will be instantly killed 🤣
Maybe that’s why the other side has 11 and the Cerebro Sword will be the X Factor (pun intended)
O G lol
Did you count the twilight sword??
Pierre Narvaez well the Twilight Sword is listed in the 9/10 listed in the video information (Gorgon) has 2 so that’s 9/10 excluding anything about the Cerebro Sword
Galador?!? What??
Long as it's "body language reading kick yo ass" Doug. Cause that Doug can scrap.
No blade of the Phoenix. Odd.
SWORDS
