I don't know how, but you have manage to make learning theory so much easier to digest than any other tutor I have come across. Love your style and personality. Thank you.
I already know all four chord type but your lesson is great I too can use your method explain to someone who is new to learning chords because its straight forward. I am not seeing myself above this at all.❤
Watched the second time as I continue to try to understand chords etc. This was very useful to help understand a little of the magic when you say "throw notes around" I plan to number these out and maybe consider the patterns over other scales as my start to Throwing around. _ As always - fantastic. Carry on Brotha!
Great video and esp like the use of garage band to play backing track along with appropriate chord!!! thanks so much I subscribed to your channel Wayne Pharo
Great explanation, Lynden! Thanks for making it so easy to understand. I also had fun working through the exercises in the Sessionband app. It would be amazing if you could keep exploring this approach with the goal of creating a backing track using Sessionband, paired with a saxophone melody. I think this is a hurdle many sax players face.
Thanks again . All the video lessons regarding major , minor and dominant are brilliant . Practicing improv just using the chord tones with a backing track makes perfect sense in order to get these under the fingers . It will make it easier to progress to 2-5-1 progressions. Is there a short cut to learning things ? My tai chi teacher says yes ! To learn correctly is the short cut … this is what you are trying to get across . Fab lessons Lynden .
Thank you Trefor. I don’t think there’s short cuts as such but by focusing on the things that I mention in my videos then that seems to help people understand and develop quickly, I certainly hope so anyway 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Great video Lynden. Chords are intimidating to me! I have a better understanding of them now and this video will also help. I guess the main problem is reading them quick enough to keep up with the backing track. It’s like learning a language I suppose. Thanks for this 🙏🏻😊
Hi Gary, thanks for this. You can start off just by hitting the root of each chord, then the root and third, then R35 etc and just build up your speed 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Hi Lynden. You have a great way of explaining concepts. Keep up the great work. A video suggestion would be how to connect cords when improvising. This trips me up sometimes.
Thanks Lynden.Would it be possible to do a video on interpreting chords with extensions on the hoof as it were. This is where I fall down as I can't count on my fingers and play sax at the same time.😊
Thank you! Because of you, I have waaaay better understanding of chords. I guess my one question is if I have the chords of a particular song, can the way you just explained be used to figure out the notes of the melody?
Hey Lynden, another excellent lesson - thank you! Could you please advise on the following; am I correct in thinking that if I'm playing (on tenor sax) with a guitarist. I am in the scale of C major so the guitarist should be in the scale of B flat major. As we go through the chords, my Cmaj 7 will play with there B flat major chord... is that how it works with the chords as well. The tenor is one whole step ahead and that's how we sync in with concert pitch chords? Any advice is much appreciated!
Hi Lynden, Thanks for your videos, very interesting. I would like to ask you for advice. I have a problem with the embouchure and the breath emission I would like to ask you if blowing into the sax, is more like blowing candles on a cake or like whistling. I noticed that something in the throat changes. On the internet I found both valid ways, but I am confused. Thanks a lot. Pietro
Hi Pietro, thanks for the question. I think it depends but try keeping your throat open, like you would when you’re just about to start to yawn. Try this and let me know if it helps 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Danke!
Thank you so much, your support is greatly appreciated 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Grazie Lynden, great lesson. After all, there are four types of chords that are built on a major scale and those are enough to start with😀
@@andyhuckleberrywilliamsoni3873 thank you Andy 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a think about that 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Thanks, Lynden. This lesson is so valuable to me. These chords make sense now. Question: Are these chords for piano?
Hi and thank you! You can absolutely use these chords on piano 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Thank you! Because of you, I have waaaay better understanding of chords. I guess my one question is if I have the chords of a particular song, can the way you just explained be used to figure out the notes of the melody?
Hi William, thank you. No, the chords don’t give you information about the melody, only the harmonic structure 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
What piano accompaniment app do you have now? I want to practice with that app too.
Hi, I was using iReal pro and Jazz SessionBand 1 🎷🎷🤝🤝😎😎
Very helpful Lynden thank you! Session band app looks like a good way to practice chord tones, which version would recommend?
Thank you Bill. They often come in a bundle of three, that’s a great way to go 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷

Stephy that’s absolutely right. If you’re playing tenor you’re one whole tone above the guitar 🎸 🎷🎸🎷🤝🤝😎😎
