Another excellent video Lynden. My wife asked me what I was playing with a completely different emphasis, one of mild interest instead of the usual what the bleed'n hell was that...thanks may have saved my marriage!
😂😂 Robin thank you so much for your feedback, it really means a lot and makes a difference. I will keep making content thanks to feedback like yours and open a marriage guidance practice 😂😂
Lynden, you nailed it again. 100% ! No mental theoretical barrier or confusion. Just the space you need to be creative and let the improvisation flow. Wow really heavy stuff. You beat them all. YES for backtracks that would make it a complete improvisation étude. For the occasion it would be nice to give your explantation about the relationship between the key in a backtrack (concert key) and the key to transpose for the alto sax.
Excellent. Would love it if you could put some backing tracks only up..I feel these would help consolidate your fantastic and simple lessons that are at last unlocking the door to impro that has remained firmly locked to me for a decade or so.👍
You are by far the best teacher I have come across. Every lesson is super helpfull. I think its the examples of where and also the how of using what you have taught that makes all the difference. 🙂😃
Hello, my good friend! English isn't my first language but I wanted to tell you that I'm so grateful for this video. I play the cello and I cannot wait to start with my practice session today to try this improvise strategy. Thank you so much!
My second year of intense learning and sometimes you can forget to have fun by getting bogged down in Standards etc . This really put the fun back into the process !
I have just come across your video. I am a complete biginner and even learning to read music from scratch and I now feel I can make music! I love what you are doing, a little pointer to the note below when you are playing would be helpful, but thats because I am a beginner. I love the positivity when you teach and l eagerly look forward to looking at your other videos
This is really cool and it adds to my tool box. Especially for beginners who have really learn the scales, arpeggio, progressions who did not know how to use them. Your videos are super useful. I want to say it again that since I have been learning and hearing about improvisation I did not get the hang of it untill I came across your video on how to improvise over autumn leaves. Before then I had learned the tune autumn leaves. After the video,It was clear that I was able to sound really really good when follow your technic. Your chord analysis was superb. It helps me gain confidence that I can find my own sound too.
And I will carry over what I have learned in your video. I am glad now that I know the important of harmonic minor scales I was able speak the language before I fairly understand it but now I understand it and I can also speak it. Using your technic will propel my improvement and it's already doing that. My ears is wide open. You're method is superb for adults amateur who thought they have missed the boat because there wasn't much teacher who is given us attention but method of teaching will encourage tons of adult amateur beginners. I would love to buy you a coffee but as I am from a very poor economic Nation. Our currency super low in other words I can't afford it. Never mind it's still possible so pardon me.
Absolutely superb. You've made it very crisp and clear and easy to understand a lot of video sex players forget that people have only been playing 6 months a year or 2 years explained excellent. First seeing you I practice every day and it's so difficult to get information. Sometimes to explain it in layman terms. Professional players forget when they started. So they don't explain the brilliant why you've done it. I hope that makes sense what i'm saying
Hi Paul, yes that makes perfect sense and thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate your feedback and it helps to motivate me to keep making these videos. Thanks again 🤝🤝🎷🎷🎷🎷
Hi, just saw your website. Super Excited, looks great and congrats. You ARE the EXPLAINER plain an simple. Thank you. Please leave a place for dialogue on the site as you develop it. Also wondering if a suggested path within the categories might be helpful? Anyway really happy you are doing this. I am a member of another on line school and it misses the mark you hit so well!
Lynden, these are great training videos you're putting together. Clearly explained, easy to follow, with good practical examples that I can put to immediate use. Please keep them coming. Based on what I saw in your videos, I recently bought SessionBand and iReal Pro. I would love to see you put together a little instruction video on how I might make the most out of them.
Wow Larry thank you so much, that’s really great feedback and very encouraging. I did make a Session Band tutorial, let me find you the link…. Session band tutorial ua-cam.com/video/8-ufpd7CygU/v-deo.html
Hi Lynden ...yes it would be very useful if you could provide the backing tracks or a complete list of recorded backing tracks .....it makes my sessions very enjoyable to play along and or practice with in each session ...thanks Lynden
Hi Dale, thank you for your feedback and your support, we really appreciate it. To help with your question, just so that I understand, have you downloaded the apps on your iPhone or iPad, or are you asking me to upload a particular one to UA-cam so that you can practice with it? If so, which one would you need? Many thanks 🤩
You’re a gifted teacher Lyndon. Thank you for these terrific video lessons. I wonder if you would consider putting the videos together in a way that would help learners like me know what sequence we should work through them in to progress methodically. Thank you.
Paul, that’s so nice of you to say, thank you very much 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎 The order in which I filmed these videos since November 2023 when I relaunched my channel is pretty much the order that I would suggest watching them in. I treated UA-cam like I would a new client and started with the major scales and went from there. Does this help? Thank you again Paul 🤝🤝
The Backing tracks are great to follow. I've been using iReal Player and trying to find the same. To have a vid or audio as a download with first the sax + backing track followed by the backing track only (or a link to its source) would be great. Great channel though, thanks for the content, although I only have a tenor this is really helpful. 😎
Wow brilliant vid lyden i am practicing using thirds over paul desmonds Rude Old Man not because i am any good at improv but i have the backing track from a book and c,d set and it is an easy blues progression so practicing over what you showed us today is gonna make it so good thanks a bunch..coffee on the way ..pete spain
Lynden, your videos are really helpful. I'm trying to replicate the thirds but mine don't sound anywhere near as solid as yours. I know there are a number of anomalies but its nigh on impossible to get a decent sound like you do. When you are recording are you adding any subtleties like reverb or something else to your recording?
you earned a subscriber from me 🙃 i’m currently tryna get better at improv, i know 2 blue scales and 8 major scales by memory but ive just always found it so hard to find out what i’m supposed to be doing. your videos really show me things i’ve never put into consideration and it’s helping me build a foundation for improv now. thank you so much i’m also curious how i incorporate etudes and licks into improv, about to go watch your video on that now
Hi Lynden, like the way you explain in "layman" terms love it. Where can i get all the backing tracks from for doing this sort of practice, by the way i am tenor sax player.
Hi Lynden, I love your video lessons, so much so I bought all the session band jazz volumes. In vol 4, which track are you using the sting swing with. Red house, English rose, Stone crazy, Spellbound or Suspicion. Reason I ask is I can't find that specfic bass line in any of them, or am I getting the wrong end of the stick and you edited one of the tracks for the video. thanks Lynden.
Hi Lynden....what was the backing track you used in this video ...from what Session Band series ...I am acquiring the backing tracks that are featured in your videos...thanks again
Hi Lynden, is it worth learning the chromatic scale I.e. all notes on the saxophone and then learning / playing major scales starting at the root moving up the chromatic 2 2 1 2 2 2 1 notes or learning by heart each individual major scale? I am just trying to get beyond c d and g major scales !
off-topic question...do you have a website where we could get one of these saxophones? I ve seen a post on ebay (well, all the colors available except silver&gold one), but although I didnt notice red flags, I thought I.d ask first😅thank you!
Hi wondering if there is a way on the website to maybe subscribe to backing tracks in session band you have created for us to play on our sessions band app. I suppose you would need emails unless you just post premade tracks with ideas to pair our practice to. Thanks again. I am always motivated to practice what you talk about. Da Best!

Absolutely 👍
What key is the backing track in, C major? (since you're playing the thirds in D major scale.) (I'm thinking in tenor thoughts)
That’s a good question and it’s D major for alto, which is F major concert and that’s G major for tenor thinkers 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
