Improvising...Spontaneous composing...extemporising....Lynden I really like your constructive instruction, its seriously productive...thanks mate, so glad I've found your channel.👍
Hugo thank you and I really appreciate your feedback 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
i was really scared of improvisation as you described… your parallelism with the language is genious and makes things much easier… you‘re a lovely teacher! many thx Lynden! 👍🏽& subscribed & ☕️ deserved
That is so kind and helpful of you, thank you, I really appreciate your support 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Another great video. Just realising the importance of learning to play scales starting at the top and not always at the bottom and then back down 👍
Absolutely! 🎷🎷😎😎🤝🤝
Perfect teacher 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🥇
Thank you so much Chis, I’m far from perfect I can assure you but it’s very kind of you to say 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
excellent teacher! I am going to use this. I like the language analogy! Thanks! i subscribed :)
Thank you, I really appreciate that 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Brilliant. Great explanation of improvisation, Lynden. Really straight forward. Thanks.
Trev, you’re most welcome and thank you 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Excellent video Lynden...you produce a really nice tone on your sax.
Thank you very much Robin 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
You are an amazing instructor. I really enjoyed every part of this. Thank you so much. I thought the way you used the entire scale was masterful. Between the entire scale and the core Chord tones, the music someone could make is unlimited. Thank you again for sharing such a thoughtful video.
John, that is so kind of you to say, thank you 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Great lesson, breaking improvisation down. I feel I now want to give it a go
Thank you Ian, absolutely give it a go!! 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
That was excellent,thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it David, thank you 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Thank you it’s very useful to me 🎉😀
You’re so welcome and thank you for saying so 😎😎🎷🎷🤝🤝

Thank you Rob 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Great suggestions as always 😀
Thank you Andy 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Thanks Lynden
Do you have a video on mouthpiece selection for tenor sax?
Hi Gregory, take a look here: Sax Mouthpieces

11:15 what key is the backing track in? Thanks
Answered
Hi Lynden, what this and other of your videos have show me is the importance of making simple notes sound good with good phrasing. I think you underplay your natural ability in doing this but that's a different story :-). As well as an emphasis on phrasing within a bar using different length notes, I would love to see a video on your thought process around phasing across 4 bars or longer. Also maybe one on call and response. Above all however I like the way you treat your viewers as students so just take us through your usual steps that you take through a student wishing to learn to improvise.
David that’s so kind of you thank you, and thank you for the brilliant suggestions 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Thank you very much Lynden.😎🎷
My pleasure Craig! 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Great video and content, also explained in a very straight forward and encouraging way thank you. Do you have details of the backing track/s you use in order to purchase please?
Thank you! Yes check out SessionBand Souk jazz funk volume 3 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
A good method and explanations for beginers. So nice
Thank you Kooky 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
ReallY great video Lynden. I've just been practicing using this technique and my wife came and said "was that you playing?" I confirmed it was and she said I sounded really good. First time she's commented in 20 years. 😂
Wow Jeff, that’s absolutely wonderful news and thank you for sharing that with me 😎😎🤝🤝🎷🎷
Great thanks 🙏
You're welcome 😊
Great approach. Thank you. How do you build a backing track like this? I assume iRealpro but how? Thx
I’m using SessionBand Jazz not iReal pro🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Great, thankyou.
You are welcome Stef 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Hi Lyndon when you see a d6 chord do you flatten the 6th?.😊
Hi Gary, no D6 implies root, 3rd 5th and 6th as a chord D F# A B 🤝🤝🤩😎🎷🎷
I'd like to give this a go. Would I be right in thinking the backing track needs to be in Eb major?
Hiya Mr Honda, yes, that’s right 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
More great suggestions put together very nicely. Curious as to which Session Band track you used.
Hiya, thanks for this. It was SessionBand soul jazz funk volume 3 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Thanks Lynden.
I felt that one exercise could be to play scale notes and land on the chord tones.
Thanks Rex, that’s a great idea! 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Hi, what sax are you playing there and what Mouthpiece please?
Hi Steven, I’m using one of my own Goldington Artiste 80 silver plated altos with a Meyer 5 medium chamber MP. You can buy the same sax from me 😎😎🤝🤝🎷🎷
Totally useful. You are as a god to me. Deffo the #1 teacher for making improv accessible. I'd love to buy you a coffee but having spent (literally) hundreds of pounds on other online influencers' training courses which weren't so useful I'm skint.

Your "clients"...
It does sound a bit off, yes...
"Students"...?
Thanks for your feedback 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Lynden: Thank you for this video. I wasn't scared to improvise until I tried to emulate this technique (which, for instructional purpose, I call, "the squeak."). Courtesy the great Lockjaw Davis.

How in the world does he do this??
I will have a look, thank you 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
He is doing this with his lip I think 🤝🤝🎷🎷
@@lyndenblades He's popping his sound up into an octave (?) overtone, I guess. His control over it is fantastic, and it's a great effect. I haven't come close to duplicating it. Have you tried for it?
@@timtully8015 I haven’t 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
