The Best Gamemode in TF2

- What is the best gamemode in Team Fortress 2? That's a very difficult question as everyone has their own specific reasoning as to why they enjoy or dislike a particular gamemode. To me at least, a good gamemode provides the groundwork for a fun team-oriented match of tf2, but they should still allow for you to play in whatever specific way you want to without basically throwing the match. And in this video, I go over what my personal favorite gamemode is.

-----[FLARE GUN CRAFT GUIDE]-----
Step 1: Obtain three items (either by trading or crafting, but be careful if you do craft them as to not use untradable/achievement items)
1 Pyro class token
1 Secondary slot token
1 Scrap metal
Step 2:
Go to:
Items, Crafting, Common, Fabricate Class Weapons
Use the pyro token, secondary token, and scrap
...and BOOM, you 'may' have a flare gun (20% chance)
If you have any questions regarding it, reach out through my discord!
I wouldn't want to ask for items with actual monetary value, at least with these items they are basically worthless aside from the fact that yall are crafting/signing them. :)
what is Team Fortress 2 (tf2) 's best gamemode, not worst gamemode, game modes make team fortress 2 a fun game, but not necessarily a balanced game. well I guess it can be influenced by the best weapons and the worst weapons in the game, but even then tf2 is just a silly game. :D
#tf2 #teamfortress2
um, actually, koth sucks because when you play medic on koth, your team ignores you which totally doesn't happen on other game modes too, therefore you're wrong and smell like flare guns :)
So true
Yea i like playing medic but playing medic on koth feels super bad. Koth are good in that it is usually static and smaller than other modes so you could learn the map quicker
Bad take, and false.
@@highmedic2351 does he know?
@@Hexalina Does who know what? :3
That my favorite gay mode

Yohiamouse
YOu play tf2
Yahiamaice you're so cool
Well, it's interesting to see how different people value different things about the same games. To me personally, koth is the least favorite gamemode for several reasons:
- Maps are too small so playing on them quickly becomes very repetative.
- It's natural in games to keep pushing forward when you're winning. And since there's only one control point, what happens when one strong team caps it? Yes, they move to your spawn - for me, about 80% of all koth matches eventually leads to a spawncamp simulator which isn't fun no matter whether you spawncamp or get spawncamped.
- Most koth maps make engies less useful because the distances are so short the teleporters aren't needed.
- These maps are most of the time very heavily dominated by scouts and snipers.
One thing I would like to add is that the map ends up feeling a bit static since there's only one place where the objective is. Compared to CP or payload where the main battles can occur at different places depending on where the objective is, KOTH feels like playing 1/5 of a CP map for atleast 3 minutes.
Scout main heaven.
Fair enough, but I will say that I disagree on Scouts dominating KOTH. Engineer teleporters may be less useful, but their sentries do serve a vital purpose of keeping Scouts in check. On a lot of KOTH maps, Scouts can't flank to the enemy side without passing directly over or near the point, which means a well-placed sentry near the point can lock them out of half the map.
Koth maps are the epitome of "choose your adventure" style game and heavily remind of the Casual-Competitive hybrid nature of games like Halo 3. Baller fricking video!
I find this editing incredibly fantastic! you are incredibly underrated for someone with these high quality videos
This video really made me think about alot when it comes to the concept of actually playing games, and that combined with your editing made this one of your best videos ever. Keep em coming Sandwich.
steel is the best gamemode and any other argument is objectively incorrect
I still prefer payload cuz i also loves when both my team and enemy team tries our best to stopped and pushed cart
Koth to me is just the best d.m gamemode. Cuz it keeps everyone in a small area, but is also great when playing the objective. Its just very well balanced
ironically koth is the best for competitive play aswell, as it doesn't include the stalemate problem
koth is also my favorite gamemode :) really well done on the vid. i love koth 'cause it's fun no matter what the team sizes are. i hop on empty koth servers with my friends all the time just to 2v2 and it's always fun
KOTH is definitely the least coordinated/most casual of the game modes but when I get the best matches where mostly everyone is legitimately trying to win on both teams and there is a decent amount of team coordination, those games are still the most fun on KOTH (5CP is dope but snowballs way to easy if teams are unbalanced). It seems like the other game modes really muddle alot of the interesting tf2 interactions by having such a defined way to win the game and placing the teams in positions to do different things (especially Payload, CTF, Attack Defend). But KOTH and 5CP constantly have you alternating what role you take on depending on the current state of the objective(s) not the role you were assigned at the beginning of the game, I think this lends itself much better to tf2's gameplay.
Personally,as a demo and medic main,l think king of the hill is my least favourite game mode except catch the flag.Because most of the popular king of the hill maps just give sniper too many sightlines. Moreover, spamming gunslinger just really unfun to play against.Last,in casual, king of the hill is more like king of the hell for medic.(medic always die so easily)
4:29 nice editing mate
Ay, just wanna say, your content is really high quality and enjoyable. It reminds me of channels like Elmaxo and Zesty Jesus.
I'd also like to critique some of the things said in the video...
1. First off, I feel like every gamemode in TF2 is flawed, some more than others, *cough cough* CTF. I'd put KOTH in one of the more flawed gamemodes because of the fact that, most of the time, whoever captures the point first tends to keep it for the rest of the round with barely any back and forth. This could also be matchmaking doing its work and putting all the good players on one team and the bad players on the other, though.
2. Payload and CP maps can actually go by very quickly, again depending on the teams. I will say that 2 teams that are split even in terms of player skill will end up dragging on a game of CP for practically an infinite amount of time.
3. As a Medic main, I can say that watching the respawn timer is a pass time of mine.
If I were to pick a "best gamemode", I'd pick Payload because it can be a very fast paced gamemode and I like coordinating with my team to complete an objective. But what do I know, I'm some filthy Medic main with 800 or so hours in this game. Whoever's reading, enjoy life! Cya, mate!
It's so strange to highlight Harvest in this video. The long sightlines that can be exploited by both side's snipers sounds to me like the firmest point against it being well designed, as literally any other class suffers because of said exploitation. It's also quite the pain to actually cap the point, given the 4:05 "many ways to get to the point" is just an open area surrounding the closed off shack. Unless you're an explosive class, a flare jump Pyro, or a Scout to enter from the roof, you only get the two entrances to choose from.
As for the video's topic, if TDM is the big draw for your best gamemode pick, what about Player Destruction? It is the most literal form of TDM TF2 has, as well as making the goals of frags and completing objectives one in the same. I'd be interested as to why that was omitted from 1:45.
My top 3 in favorites would be
3. Attack Defend
2. Capture the Flag
3. Payload
My least favorite mode is koth no doubt
Is there a possibility of breaking every single rule that you have introduced to make a map that is unbalanced yet fun for all teams and get that map to be not only viable for both competitive and casual but also recommended?
Also, speaking of Strange Weapons, what else does paying for the game to have a premium account, aside from voice and text chat and trading?
I'm going to be honest here, I would hardly call KotH the best gamemode of tf2. I personally don't get the hype about it. Once you played 5 different KotH maps you basically have an idea of what to expect from any other KotH map. They tend to be: too small which leads to cramped fighting zones across the map, they have a tendency to be spawn camped a lot by team which has the cap, the mode tends to focus a lot of it's map design around a small group of classes which excel in these maps while other classes languish or are heavily penalized for being picked, and lastly tend to just last way too long for the fact that KotH has the cap change hands so often between the teams which while it may say that the round is only 3 minuets to hold for it's more like 6 and given it's usually a good few minuets until it is fully capped for one team that only drags it out and that's just one round, most KotH maps tend to go for like first to 2/3 rounds before map changes.
Something I've noticed over the years is that KOTH seems to be polarizing. No one ever thinks KOTH is just okay -- people either think it's one of the best game modes in TF2 or one of the worst. Check this comment section for further proof! I'm a KOTH supremacist myself, but I also totally understand the grievances of people who hate it.
Not gonna watch the video because Payload is the answer
i feel like koth should last longer tbh, like maybe 4-5 minutes per team? idk a steamroll is so much shorter (and less fun) than a stemaroll on payload
the problem is that for whatever reason , koth is the most botted gamemode , as i saw from the matches i played on harvest
One of the main problems I have with KotH is engineer, both to fight against and to play.
Sentries suck the fun out of KotH if you're scout because oh now you can't play the game.
Playing as engie is also a lot less fun imo when you just end up defending a single point instead of holding out a point as best as you can and retreating and rebuilding when the base falls.
Ctf is the way to go, a chill place to frag. Payload and 5cp are way too sweaty. Koth is decent too
KoTH is my favorite gamemode glad its getting praise
“King of the Hill” is a weird way of saying “Pass Time”, but don’t worry, I understood ya!
ok but fr, your recent vids have been some fucking impressive works. here’s hoping they continue to get the recognition they deserve!
0:32 Wait until he hears about tboi lmao
hmmmmm I will maybe consider putting harvest to my list of maps that I should play
so in total I will only play on 2 different maps that are different game modes
The big Advantages of Koth are that, unlike other gamemodes, it:
-Doesn’t encourage double-defending (5CP and CTF)
-Does switch between offense and defense (A/D and PL)
-Discourages people from just standing on the point (on well designed maps like Harvest at least).
This makes for a dynamic, mobile and offensive gamemode for both teams. The only problem is that the Gamemode has a bit of a spawncamping problem.
"well designed maps like harvest"
Harvest is one of my favorite maps in the game
At this point I thought people forgot about koth, and it's interesting. When it comes to TF2 gameplay experience, two things comes to mind. The fast paced competitiveness of Payload, and Wacky fun of CTF
What makes a game fun? 2fort
How do I fart in TF2
5:30 Oh how I feel that
Perfectly explains why I have a LOT more fun on KOTH then any other game mode as every class
I bought my truck with TF2 items lol, played it for like 9 years on and off with like, 2.5k totalish hours, and over those years I snowballed up around 5k$ of items, sold them on a liquidation site for paypal money, and the truck's outside my house now
Sold almost everything tradeable, and it came out to a little over actually so I got a few shitty items from them as payback just to boost start my item recovery
brapgineer
Too many koth matches end up with one team holding the point uncontested for all 3 minutes, occasionally losing it for 20-30 seconds.
Tf
2
1:45 Bro really put attack and defend in the opposite colours
I love the points you make, but god the ADHD editing makes it so annoying to actually look at. Glad I can just listen in the background
Me personally, my favorite gamemode has gotta be payload. I just love the fast pace, the maps, and the non stop action/chaos that it brings.
It's my opinion that meet your match ruined koth. TF2 just wasn't meant to be played that way. For those who don't remember how tf2 was before meet your match, severs had a map rotation. For about an hour a server would host a single map. As a result you would probally play a couple rounds of koth before the map changed or you got bored and quit. Now, 2 rounds, 3 if its a good match. And its over. Servers in tf2 need time for teams to balance out. In the old day when loading in to a fresh game of koth the first round or two are usually a steam roll, people quit, more people join and team balance out and you'll find yourself with a good game of koth. But now 2 rounds and its over on the next map and no one ever stays after the map changes. Honsetly I've stop queueing for koth because of it. Out side of a community server koth is unplayable now.
I’ve been trying to get back into tf2. And i’ve been finding that 90% of the games i play have some unbeatable wall of sentries and heavies, making it absolutely impossible to even get into a fight as pyro (my main). Koth of course, still has the issue of sentries everywhere you go and heavies being heavies. But its to a lesser extent, its an environment i can learn in
I love the part of king of the hill when you get out of spawn and die, get out of spawn and die, get out of spawn and die, get out of spawn and die, get out of spawn and die, get out of spawn and die, see, i just cant play king of the hill, i die over and over an over again on the fckin spawn, and its so boring see how in a fcking videogame you cant play, thats why i hate king of the hill, i dont play there, i cant play there.
I'd say that Capture the Flag is a better representation of TF2's casual audience, but King of the Hill certainly feels more fun to play :P
i dont like koth. which is kinda weird cuz i always felt like i was a fan of TDM long time ago, especially in quake 3. i guess tf2 conditioned me to appreciate enemies distracted by the objectives and team mates that pay more attention to me when i help them or just in general
The problem with koth is you never have to focus on positioning as you go to the same places as sniper, spy and similar places if you are an offense class
1:12 cause at the end of the day, long as there's two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead
My only problem with king of the hill is how fast rounds end, on payload you could literally have 30 min rivalry with someone on the opposing team while on koth you have only 3-6 min to play
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg music?
Makin' my brain go on a journey over here
I have 2k hours, probably 1.8k on koth, and 1.5 on harvest alone
Good opinion! I myself am a fan of Hydro, but you have a good opinion!
You basically described ctf but heavily toned down
I love your videos man! Keep it going
Nobody kill me, but I think payload is better than koth
Become real
King of the Hill is my favorite I tell you hwat.
24/7 ctf harvest my beloved
How it *FEELS* to play _king of the heel_
Payload race, banana bay has something to say
hightower is my favorite gamemode
I love payload or attack/defense
Algorithm, bless this video
my favorite gamemode is 2fort

I won't take this arena slander
Commenting for the algorithm
KOTH is underrated.
cant say koth is the perfect representation of tf2, as payload does that best (imo), but cant lie, koth is fun
good topic, good eedeets, good vid, "very guud!"
Very well made vids
This is the gamemode
Hey, nice editing
Engie fortress
Nice montage
Hi I love susie
best editing
i've been more of a pl person, but i do enjoy koth, as a second best of sorts. like koth is the competitive side of casual, so for me, playing 2 or 3 matches of koth, then a pl. would be the best option, relax for a bit, then go competitive, then repeat
so they named a gamemode after a TV show? WOW!
(if you couldn't tell, this is a joke.)
gud content
Underrated.
gamemode 1
what hud
until you remember viaduct also play by 6s pros , as uber oriented as sweaty as any other comp mod .
payload
koth is awesome, there are so many great official maps for it
Bro this man is underrated! give him some love!
Mine would be Payload!
:D
Cool video
My favorite game mode is CTF Espacilly 2fort
Shoutout Mannpower! 🫡
exactly, Koth IS the best gamemode, and I'm tired of people pretending it's not
now talk about the worst gamemode!
(its player destruction)
mvm, good pve gamemode. too bad valve neglected it
