Yes, congratulations on the 20K. I know where to come if I ever need advice about off road riding. Thanks for the videos, they've certainly shown me parts of Australia I've never been to.
I was in Fowlers Bay on the 4th. April when that terrible semi and road train crash occurred that was a Thursday. The following day we were held up for a long time while they tried to remove the vehicles and clean up. Such a terrible accident. Quite a few road bikes tried to go bush to get around the closure but came to grief in the sand in the bush.
We had the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club annual rally in Nuriootpa in March. Every South Australian I spoke to new it as "Nuri" A great location and base to explore the area on two wheels.
Thank you. I always get a buzz when somebody from Overseas makes a comment. Makes me realise the vids reach further than just here in Oz. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I had to Google search UJM. Back in the day, they use to stick knobby tyres on old Harleys and cross Continents off road. I guess a lot depends on the skill set of the rider. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Quite enjoying the technical aspects, like your traction control settings and how you navigate and pick your camping spots. Always plety to learn here! Congrats on the 20k, maybe you can afford to retire soon.
Great video Steve. As a Canberra local, I didn't find out about the event until the day it started so I missed out. But ran into a couple of blokes who were taking part in it. Sounded like a great ride. If you ever make it back here, be sure to check out the Brindabella Ranges, there's some great tracks out there. Would be happy to take you out there for a ride.
Wow - you completed a SA Serial Killer Double. Snowtown and the dirt loop you did took you from Pipeline out towards the Stuart Highway via Swamp Road. Swamp Road was where the Truro Killers would dump the bodies of their victims. Did Dave do the loop with you?
7:21 truck crash ---- more like two were from overseas . My son brings sheep out of WA to the east and said it's bloody spooky out there these days with so many inexperienced overseas drivers . It's a bit like that everywhere apparently :(
@@johngreydanus2033 Two up drivers are meant to stop that , even if I don't think 2 up is a good idea --- been there done that . I have been told there are many near missed on that highway. Sadly ; the international drivers from a totally different driving/road culture seems to be causing big problems in the trucking industry ; mostly due to being taught more about how to get a MC license than the driving part of it . Of coarse that can also apply to Aussie trainees too ; but they have likely grown up , and have driving on Australian roads. Apparently , and I'm happy to be corrected ; the oversees drivers are brought to Australia by transport company owners from a similar background who also operate truck driving schools --- get'em on the road asap !! And yes ; I was once an inexperience multi combo driver ; but thankfully there was far less traffic out there and I finished driving having never bent a truck or lost/gained a point in a truck ---- certainly more arse than class but it is what it is . Now don't get me started on the massive caravans and just a car license -- that according to son is a better problem
Dynamic still allows for some ABS input for the conditions I expected. I have found that I ride a little more conservative every year I get older. I want to extend my life for as long as I can. 😀
Hi Graeme, its probably about 15-20 litres (you can expand them). I carry a fair bit of crap in mine (camera gear, chargers, cables, mounts etc.) but I would suggest the smaller the better. It adds weight to the top of the bike which you need to avoid if going over snotty stuff.
Engine oil…yes, on a trip this big in the remote areas I travel (my return journey). The bike usually uses about a litre between services (10,000km). 😀
I got annoyed waiting for the video so actually waiting around all day for people to sort their shit out would’ve done my head in. Each to his own, but I’d rather find my own way around. There’s something to be said for getting lost and exploring by yourself imo. PS: my ancestors settled in the Barossa in 1838.
4:16 Check point . That looked civilized compared to Yamba between Renmark and Mildura (where I am) . If you do the right thing and hand over fruit they still hand out near $500 fine because people are meant to bin fruit a few Ks before the check point --- yeah; fing dumb! They claim fruit fly can fly to vineyards/orchards from the checking station . People have been fined when the kids dropped a small piece of banana in the back seat. Just BS! The fines are less for not declaring foods when entering the country . Most signs are impossible read fully at 110 kph ; especially if just one person in the vehicle . I have emailed a few signs suggestion to the government
Yeah, I don't know whether I would attend another. I was looking for excuses to cross the Continent and this was a time filler between other events. Still, there are probably worse ways of spending a few days in the countryside seeing new places and meeting new people. 😀
@@mongreldogproductions Love your stuff - bicycle or moto - just not sure about BMs LOL. Feel I know Australia through you (And Daniel Hayes) - thanks !
Stopping to take in the scenery isn't merely being a 'tourist'; it's appreciation of all that your trip has to offer.

Awesome, thank you!
I had that same spot in PA caravan park last month
Woo Hoo ! . . 20.1K 🥂 Congrats Steve. Your work is paying diviends. Thanks for sharing.
…and it feels like you’ve been there from the start. Thanks.
😘😘😘
Another great video, pretty game by your standards but still interesting. Congrats on hitting the 20K subs 👍

We didnt find out about the accident until the day after...a tragedy.
Congrats on breaking 20k subs Steve! Well deserved.
At the BMW rally I saw a lot of bald heads and grey beards….A dying breed !!!! Luv ya work thanks for taking us with ya.
The demographic that owns BMW are cashed-up, balding, overweight middle-aged men (and some women). 😂😂
That could apply to motorcyclists in general
Congratulations. I see you got to 20k. Well deserved.
Thank you…

Great work keep the videos coming 👍🍻
Watch this space…
20K congratulations 👏👏🍻

Glad you made it. From Muskoka Ontario.

Awesome stuff Steve. I'm new to the BMW world... Didn't even know about the Rally. Good to know 🙂 Now, bring on Episode 4!
Be patient Grasshopper, be patient.
Gimme a few days.
😀
Looking forward to it mate! :-)
You can make it an interesting drive when so many say there's nothen to see . I never knew about those back roads through eastern WA
back in the day we used to ride our UJM s everywhere not to much dirt but gravel was no problem

@@mongreldogproductions i think the fact that we still had 19 inch front wheels was a big help
Top stuff Steve, great video. Thanks.
You’re welcome.
Brings back a lot of adventuring memories when Honda first brought out a 250 four stroke trail bike. It was fantastic for me then.
Glad you enjoyed your journey down Memory Lane. Thanks for watching.

Lovely country the Barossa. Nuri is a nice place, lots of good food and wine!

Dave? Yes. They (the locals) never mentioned ol' mate Truro Killer.
@@mongreldogproductions mates, plural. One died in a car crash before being brought to justice, the other died in jail from cancer mid 2000s ish..
As an ex truck driver, I can understand why you go bush tracks, I do the same thing travelling.
It’s just a whole lot safer out there…it’s like you have some control of your destiny.
Thanks for watching.

What happened to your mate Dave ??
Did you go anywhere near the Wee Jasper Rd? Hours of fun for the whole family. Cheers.
Dunno...the next vid will show you. I was pointed in the direction of Brindaballa (?) and there was a road closure just out of Tumut.
Stray tuned.

Interesting choice of Dynamic and traction control off(can understand the traction cntrl part). Can I ask why Dynamic and not Enduro or Enduro Pro?

The lack of action on crime is only going to plunge these towns further into poverty.
Why haven’t they knocked down the Snowtown bank building 🤷♂️
They’re talking about it, but maybe they like the tourist $
I know they demolished a couple of homes associated with the crimes...
This kind of “pedestrian “ rally doesn’t really strike me as your kind of thing?
