I used to be 6'3" probably not now that I'm in my 57th year. Been riding off and on since 17yo. Have gotten back into riding about 2 years ago. After my youngest finished college. Started back with an 83 CM450A. 2 speed semi-auto. I liked it, still have it. Moved up to a GL1500. Nope, I don't like it. Just too dang big. Got the ctx700n dct. Best motorcycle I have ever owned. Most of the time I ride in sport mode. Plenty of performance, almost 60 mpg. At this stage, I don't wan't anything I have to fool with. This bike, just hit the button and go riding.
Friend of mine let me try his out and I must say it’s a great ride. Comfy, practical, super smooth ride, and quiet. Definitely considering picking one up.
I did not want to give up riding but handling the Harley was getting to be a little to much for my aching knees, wrist and shoulders. The CTX700 was a good compromise. Not a tiny bike but lighter and easier to handle, which will hopefully allow me to keep riding for a while more.
I’d love to get a smaller version, for the city and short trips, with DCT. Maybe 400cc 270 degree inline twin with a true dual 2-into-2 exhaust and the same style as the CMX500. Light, low and relaxed seating position, maybe even with a real helmet storage like on the NC700S...
My brother in law has a prosthetic left leg and had to sell his motorcycle after his leg-removal surgery. This would be a great bike for amputees as well!
I got my M license last year and my first bike was the Rebel 1100D. But I'm pretty convinced that the CTX should have been my first. For a beginner, the Rebel has A LOT of power, though Rain Mode tames it pretty well. But let's face it, most who get that bike are either going to use Standard or Sport unless it's actually wet out. Even though I eventually got used to the Rebel, I think I would have enjoyed the CTX more and really hope Honda brings it back.
I'm missing my left hand. I wear a prosthesis. The prosthesis cannot work a clutch. I have one of these CTX 700 DTC/ABS bikes and I gotta say, it's like a Godsend! I am so blessed to be able to ride this thing, and it is a blast! It gets to be more fun every time I ride it, and I ride it every day! I now have about 2400 miles on it. It's a 2015 which I got last year in August.
I drove stick shift cars for years and when I got an automatic I loved it. Never went back. I do wish this bike didn't have a chain drive though. I would like to see it with a shaft or belt drive. I don't want to have to be cleaning and lubing the chain often.
Great video. I’m 50 and I’ve just begun getting into motorcycles and this looks like a great beginner bike. I like that you said that it would be good for older people as my responses and reaction time isn’t as sharp as when I was 20 or even 30.
I use my 2018 CTX700 to commute to work on nice days. 150 miles round trip. I get to work with a grin. It will do over 70 but I am not admitting to shit. Texas has toll roads that have a maximum speed of 85 and I am not hesitant of taking mine on any toll road. Go test drive this bike on the surface roads and on the highway, you will love it. One of my doctors assistants rides nothing but Harley's and when I showed her a picture of my bike and told her it's fuel injected, has ABS brakes, and is a 6 speed automatic she was very interested. I am almost 50 years old and have been riding off and on since 1986. This bike will keep me riding on for a long time. I have done my time shifting bikes and hunting for that neutral position, Very nice upgrade. Go test drive one. They didn't mention the manual mode with the paddle shifters. This bike has 3 modes of forward momentum. There is the two automatic modes, Drive and Sport, and one manual mode with paddle shifters on the left grip. Check them out. Ride safe and God Bless!!! *Frosty*
I just found a 2016 with a 158 miles on it, the seller got it for his wife and she did,int want to on it she wanted to stay behind him on his his anyway I love this thing it,s best of both worlds stick and Automatic WHEN you want. Face it rides get long traffic gets heavy people get tired this is a answer for a lot of people. Honda has done a great job of design and execution on this, as they always do.
I am one of the people who use to ride motorcycles but do not anymore due to not wanting to shift. My thoughts are this, for why not just get a 300 to 400cc scooter instead, there is no complaints of feeling shift points and the 300 to 400cc scooters are not slow at all, and can do freeways all day long. Plus the comfort is even greater with multiple foot positions.
Scooters have cvt transmissions. This bike rides like a scooter and has 670 cc 6 speed. The shift are so smooth that you can not feel them. If you still want a scooter go with a 600 or now even a 750cc.
I guess the point of this is "why have a motorcycle that's automatic when if you wanted automatic, just get a scooter?" This is kind of a fair point: scooters have a large and spacious trunk, there's no mystery shifting going on during a turn, and you can get scooters that do over 100 on the freeway. This ignores something very nice about a paddle-shifted DCT though: you actually do have real gearing and you can control that gearing if you want to. On the scooter end, the best gearing control is found on the Suzuki Burgman Executive, and it simulates having "gears" by electronically controlling the amount of space between the drive faces in the CVT, allowing the Burgman to have multiple drive modes as well ("drive" and "power" modes). The SECVT used by the Suzuki Burgman is also a point of contention among users but so far, despite several complaints, overall the SECVT seems reliable. Problem is the Burgman is considerably more expensive than this bike, or the NC750X, another Honda DCT bike. The storage issue on the CTX can be solved with a couple of saddlebags that just don't make up the cost difference compared to the equivalently powered scooter. The CTX is in a class of its own really, it's not like a conventional cruiser, it's not like a scooter, and it's not really a touring bike. It is a comfortable commuter bike that can turn heads, something a scooter can't really do, and Honda did well with this. I think it mostly comes down to preconceptions about how "not fun" a scooter is, because the perception of scooters is that they are low powered motorcycles that are only good for putting around your block. Honda perpetuates this by selling 700 to 1800 cc motorcycles with DCT's but then brings the underpowered 150 cc X-ADV to the US because I have no idea why. It's a shame really that more people don't see the value of scooters, but hey, if DCTs make people more comfortable with automatic motorcycles, all the better I suppose. My favorite scooter so far is the Yamaha Xmax 300. That was a fun little bike and plenty fast.
I have this bike but in red & absolutely love it. I’m 6’3” 235 lbs & it doesn’t feel to small to me. I did change the stock windscreen to a taller one & was a piece of cake to do.
I would like to say first thanks to Scott and Cindy. I know it felt weird to you at first. It did me as well. I have grown up riding motorcycle, I am 49 now but I have one problem. I had a brain tumor when I was a year old. That resulted in limited use of my right side, but that did and hasn't stopped me yet. I don't wont this to be too long. I test road and bought my 2015 Honda CTX 700 DCT the same day. I love it. I need to get some things modified for me to be 100% comfortable on it. I am 5'10" and 190lbs. It handles 70/80 with me and my girlfriend very effortlessly. I have a friend that bought the CTX 1300. He is 6'2" 370ish lbs. He has ridden mine. He tells me it rides better than his and at 70mph mine is turning less RPM than his. I told him mine has a six speed and his has a five speed but being 6'2" he was comfortable. I just wish it they included the same accessories on my 700 as they did on the 1300. I would love a radio and cruse control. I also would have liked shaft drive.Over all I love it.
I've had this bike since 2015. My only negative about it other than comfort stuff, is it'll shift in the middle of a turn at an intersection. So, it's just super sketchy when the bike does an unplanned quick little jerk as your bike is leaning. So, I have to keep speed low enough to not switch. Based on turn from a stop or not. Sometimes I try with manual, but the 2 shift buttons are at awkward spots. Especially when you need to cancel the turn signal at the same time. Makes me want to get a manual bike again.
I've taken mine up past 100 several times. It does 80 with no problem at all. Another thing they don't mention is this does have manual paddle shifting and when you're in Automatic mode you can use the manual shifting paddle and downshift to get more power. My other bike is an XDiavel S, so believe me when I say this bike has plenty of power, but it's 10x easier to ride. I live in the city, and that clutch and shifter just KILLS you.
When you want overtake Cars you can Change Gear, two switch left sie up and down, or when you give more trottle the bike know you want go and shift down, have Drive and Sport Mode, and 3,5 - 4 Liter on 100 Kilometer ist not much, a Great Bike, 48 HP, there is a 750 cc DCT have 58 HP
@@a.d.c7941 nope, but I did end up buying 2 NC700X bikes after discovering them, a 2013 and 2016 model. Pretty much same as CTX700, just configured a bit differently.

Picking up a 2014 with only 118 miles on it tomorrow. I'll be doing a review on it as well.
Why not show the sport mode and manual shift? Paddle shift?
I watch this video almost every day I have the same bike 🏍 👍🏻
How would you rate this bike for two-up riding?
Do you know if they have larger windscreens for this bike?
