Hello to the future. For me is that the future. Call it a Cyclescooter or a Scootercycle. It is definitely a motorcycle. Coming up the electric bikes, like the scooters from all the major manufacturers, all with a DCT transmission, the motorcycles will follow. The Y generation need all handed out. They don't wanna learn anything. Everything have to be automatic or handed in mouthpieces. But on the other side it's a modern approach to a motorcycle. Sure there is still the Mustang Shelby with the clutch, oh wait, the new Shelbys' have no clutch, they have steering wheel paddles. Right the future meets the motorcycle by the Honda ctx 700-750, X-ADV-DTV 700.
I'm sure when automatic transmission cars first came on the market there were those in the stick shift camp that decried the change. Being a late entry in the Baby Boomer Generation, it's more about having the "automatic" option than not having the time to learn something new. I know how to drive a car with a manual transmission and even how to double clutch a tractor trailer, and neither one is very much fun when you have to crawl in traffic which we have a lot of in Honolulu. Being a new rider looking for my first motorcycle, I've been wrestling with being a purist and getting a manual transmission or going automatic with either a maxi-scooter like the Suzuki Burgman 650 or the NC700/750 DCT. For me, I want to get comfortable with riding in traffic and the hazards that alone involves without having to worry about shifting. Once I feel more comfortable on the road, maybe I'll pick up a cheap 250cc bike and work on shifting.
now that the break in period is done, the maintenance is done. the power band is higher than what we thought. somewhere in the 4300 rpm range, nice surprise.
It will not work for "Harley" people. You can't "blip" the throttle while in a parking garage or while going under an overpass/bridge... No clutch to pull in and "blip" the loud pipes... Oh well, I guess the rest of us will have to like the bike. Honda found out that the bike did not sell so the public "spoke" with their wallet.
Shifting a Clutch is for Young Guys, shifting in Heavy Traffic is the Pits for us Older guys...

Would it work for taller riders I'm 6'4" 275, but my inseam is just 32". Seems funnier than a scooter.
Robert Kollath to me I wish that the seat was 2 inches further back. Are the peg replicators? Possibly. But as far as power and torque the is more than enough for guys our size. Safe rides
From where did you get it?
MTR racing in Woonsocket RI, ask for Stef
No radio available. I think it’s a miss on Honda’s part
Should be belt or shaft driven. Chains should only be for dirt bikes. Other than that, its awesome!
Would this be a good first bike?
Hunter Cestaric good first bike because the center of gravity is low. And the fact is awesome
I've currently riding a 2004 vulcan 750 and will replace it eventually...... this one is kinda growing on me
Not totally true on the height thing. I'm 6' 2" and I found myself to be quite comfortable on it.
I see speaker grills, are there speakers?
I wish, no , there is no speakers, it would have been a great Bluetooth option.
What are those vents?
freakfly23 , no just a design element, wish they were something that you could have Bluetooth speakers or something similar
I've taken those panels off a few times, the vents are actually made to allow you to install speakers if desired, the have screw mounting positions.
Im 172 cm i can ride it?
Should be great. Safe rides
How tall are you? (new sub, didn't see in comments or hear in video). You mentioned adapters for pegs, how much are they? I'm 5'10 on one leg and 6' on the other (jk sorta, titanium rod in R leg @15 yr old), never had a bike but want one and watching your video I remembered my leg and imagine I may need to fine tune a bike for it.
DJ Nomad I’m just over 6, I think even at 5-10 it’s still too tall , I don’t know where to find adaptors, she’s shorter than 5 7 it fits her perfectly, I would suggest find a dealer and throw a leg over, safe ride!
I'm 6'3" and own one and its not too cramped but I have short legs 32 inseam. I still love the bike and I highly recommend it.
Is there room for a passenger on this?
geensloth911 absolutely, with comfort and plenty of power
Good review
Damn I’m 6’2 and was wanting this bike .
Thank you
Keeping the gear a lil longer is stupid if you dont need to. Why? Just more revaluations than necessary wearing the engine down quicker over time. I say it all the time when i hear people on a bike. Man shift tour screaming the engine for nothing. Let it shift and cruise. Wot thats when u rev it to red line to shift. Engine last much longer over time
Been curious about these bikes. I'm 6'2" so this makes me more nervous to go look at one. I'd really love a classic looking bike with the same transmission
At that height I wouldn't, short rides you may be ok but I was awkwardly trying to find a comfortable position after 20 minutes, but best yet find yourself a dealer that you can throw a leg over or test ride and see if it fits your frame. Good luck and safe riding.
Livelarge86 I'm 5'11". Still too tall?
might be ok at that height, but again find one and go for a ride, the older models are the same frame so if you see one on craigslist or better, a dealer. my wife is 5'6" it fits her perfectly. safe riding!
I’m 6”2” and i tried the CTX With the front cowling and the cowling will hit your knees. The 700N does not have the same cowling and I was just fine on it .
sit on every thing and try to test drive the most comfortable and go from there
Wish you had taken us through starting the engine then let us really hear how it sounds.
it sounds very tame, typical stock cruiser sound for a Japanese bike. almost whisper quiet.
It's not loud,,ur neighbors will love you for that, until you modify it.
Bike would look good with side bags
They are an option. Theyre not like cruiser bags though. They're the weird almost-round sportbike kind.
Very nice bike, you can check out a 2014 I just picked up with only 119 miles on it if you like, thanks.
I would like to try one of these - I had a car with different modes like this and an auto and it would haul
now that the break in period is done, the maintenance is done. the power band is higher than what we thought. somewhere in the 4300 rpm range, nice surprise.
i like this,
sure don't agree. I"m 6' and added a foot rest out front. EZ to do. Very confy for legs.
Why honda don't move whit the 750 engine..... they are so slow to move !!!!!
I’m 6-3.5”/275 lbs.
I’m wondering if I’ll look like a GOOFY WEIRDO on this bike. 😂
Yeah I’m similarly sized. I think I did look “not cool”
They are selling these for 3999 US now. New
Where!?
Not with the automatic. You can buy a new 2015 for that price at Ridnow in Ocala FL.
jim carson donde where???
Bullshit
It will not work for "Harley" people. You can't "blip" the throttle while in a parking garage or while going under an overpass/bridge... No clutch to pull in and "blip" the loud pipes... Oh well, I guess the rest of us will have to like the bike. Honda found out that the bike did not sell so the public "spoke" with their wallet.
perfect im 5'8
I would get one if it had shaft drive =_
Check out the DN01.
Good review, but way too long.
Get rid of the stupid music. We want to hear it shift
no growl to this baby
this is the nm4
Automatic bike? Time for the nursing home.
Nice girls bike.
it is a scooter for girls!
