Felipe Wynn was one of the greatest front men in the history of music. Watching and listening to him was soul music but it felt like you were in church.
Musical artists were so classy back in the day in both lyrics and group presentation. I can't imagine seeing a group come out in suits these days. The Spinners are one of my fave 60s-70s groups and this is one of their best songs, IMO. Such sweet lyrics.

As a blond-haired white kid born in 1964, in retrospect one of the best things that happened to me was having a dad who was in the Navy and was exposed to lots of different music. I grew up listening to 8 track tapes my dad had like the Spinners, Booker T and MGs, etc.. This is good stuff.
I love Bobby Smith's voice. He MADE the Spinners, period; but the brother with the glasses on the end, Philippé Wynne (sometimes called "Walker") also had a beautiful voice and did the lead on "How Could I Let You Get Away." RIP to both Wynne (1984) and Smith (2013). They both contributed to wonderful memories from my childhood of music and books--my entire life then and now . . .

Yeah!!! people that grew up during the 70's have to be proud of this level of talent and performance by a generation of artists, musicians ad overall innovative rhythm.....that it is until today the bases, the grounds , the core for modern music, not only for hip hop and R&B music and not only for Black Generations to come, but this artestry it serves as inspiration for many genres throughout the world......I am proud to be Peruvian American but as Latino, and I hope to speak for every Latin beat sound that we listen to,.....Disco Era probably remains as one of the best things that happen to music....if not the best.

I remember being 13 yrs old, parents just bought a house in a small Oklahoma town where I grew up my whole life. At 13 I had a transister radio, with the one "ear plug", and there were no FM stations, (what was that?) this was 1973 & the clearest station was W,,,,U,,,,L,,,,S,,,,Chicago! Listening to the Spinners, they had me singing along with every song. I would pretend to be the "lead singer" & would sing all night long. Man, this was class! I can still pull up one of their songs and sing along as if it were yesterday. What a priveldge it was to have grown up listening to such great artists such as the Spinners. "Make a blind man talk about seein again, woo baby, one of kind,,,love affair was", Oh yeah! THE BEST TIMES!
I grew up on the other side in Southern Ca, and these guys were just getting hot while I was a just starting high school, with It's a Shame. I loved this group and I remember dancing to these great songs at our school dances after the football games. My husband and I will be going to see them in N. Nevada in July, and though I know there's only one original left, I think it's a beautiful tribute to these past members of this fabulous group. May they all rest in peace, and thank you for the memories.

I say, since the band is still around and still with two original members, it's time for the Grammy's to do right by them and give them a Lifetime Achievement award or something. Make it happen!

As observed by Robin Thicke losing the court case for his " Blurred Lines " blatant ripoff of Marvin Gayes " Gotta give It up", originality has lost its way. The age of the sample and steal is alive. This song just melts my heart and this performance is pure fire! Definitely legendary and the vocals by Bobby Smith and Philippe Wynn with Thom Bell's production on the studio version is magic. I recently retired from a middle school and to hear some of the kids singing songs like this is amazing. They'll tell you that their great grandmother or grandmother plays this music all the time and they love it. 😃😃

This is REAL GREAT music! It cannot be topped! (No pun intended) I am almost in tears as I write this, because of the intensity of feelings this song brings out. I was a lower middle class (didn't know it at the time) white boy living in small town Alabama. The Spinners were one of the groups who's music really spoke to me. I am from the Motown City itself....Detroit. Grew up with this sound all of them, but didnt appreciate them then. But NOW? WOW!!! What genuine beautiful sheer talent. It is such feel good music, this and the Stylistics and all of it. I guess I had to mature to appreciate it.

I could not imagine my life without The Spinners. for 40 years, i have been listeing to their music. Up to now, i still keep playing their Albums or CD's giving me so much love inspirationas and high energy. One of the greatest dis appoinments in my life is when Thom Bell stopped producing music for them. Though i like all their music even after Thom Bell beaouse i got addicted to their soulful voices. some of the music my son listens to (he is 33 years old) makes me want to get up and just plow my head right into the side of the house. How the heck do you relax or fall in love to music like that?
This is REAL GREAT music! It cannot be topped! (No pun intended) I am almost in tears as I write this, because of the intensity of feelings this song brings out. I was a lower middle class (didn't know it at the time) white boy living in small town Alabama. The Spinners were one of the groups who's music really spoke to me. We had the best music free on the radio. We didn't know how good we had it. Just listen to what passes for music today, and you'll know. Thank you for posting.

I am from the Motown City itself....Detroit. Grew up with this sound all of them, but didnt appreciate them then. But NOW? WOW!!! What genuine beautiful sheer talent. It is such feel good music, this and the Stylistics and all of it. I guess I had to mature to appreciate it.

I love this video. They switched it to an entirely different arrangement by the end of the song. The crowd was into it, it was just perfect. I like this over the album or any other live version I have heard.
I agree - it was nice to seem them with an actual live show, too. Many of their videos on the internet seem to be lip-syncing for big television shows back in the day.

I could not imagine my life without The Spinners. for 40 years, i have been listeing to their music. Up to now, i still keep playing their Albums or CD's giving me so much love inspirationas and high energy. One of the greatest dis appoinments in my life is when Thom Bell stopped producing music for them. Though i like all their music even after Thom Bell beaouse i got addicted to their soulful voices. Thank God i grew up with these performers

Yeah, I'm only 29 and my Dad exposed me a lot to this music which is what I mostly listen to. Life was also a lot tougher to with politics and the Vietnam War.
