I’m starting to prep my r18 for turbo I’m excited
Same kit?
add an oil filter sandwitch so you dont have to tap your oil pan. and in order to have cooler oil that goes in to the turbo put a oil/transmission fluid radiator in the loop. saves many headakes and problems in the future. trust that will be my route.
That’s a good tip. The turbo made things HOT
super cool bro yo
Woot-woot. Very nice when things work. I'm super impressed with the build, your tuning and the videos. The best way to get the car tuned is in a shop with a dnyo- honestly that's the most intimidating part to me.I would be worried making sure the timing and fule trims were correct without the dyno would be too difficult.
The cool part about watching your channel is your just a dude in his driveway, No dyno no lyft and you're making it work. Much appreciated.
The videos are always good. I like that you're telling a story and it has a good flow believe it or not some people can't tell a story well. Sometimes I feel like you're trying to act cartoonishly "thug like" don't like that part of your on camea persona. I love the content and storytelling and think I'd maybe like you in real life but the poser thug aspect isn't really hitting the spot for me. I'm not trying to be insulting Im a fan but just trying to let you know what I like and what I don't.
Hey I appreciate the feedback. DIY is how I like to do things. This took about 5 months of planning and here it is unfolding in 4 days. Dyno was out of the budget. A dyno tune would be around $450-$600. E tune around $250-$350.
I learned it myself. Still learning. But she is running well! Will have more videos on that later. Yes I was told about the thug/ slang talk before. I guess it’s how I was brought up in grammar school/ high school. But will try to notice that and avoid it. Cheers!
@@BulliKid I got to give it to you that part of your on came persona is WaaY better. Your vidos just keep getting better and better as you post them. I don't know why this channel isn't way bigger by now I watch your videos on the regular and really wish you the best. I know there's a lag between real time and the youtube stuff and really excited to see what's next. Please keep sharing and doing a wicked awesome job
Thank you and I appreciate the comment and support! Slowly the channel is growing. That’s all that matters. Only a matter of time the algorithm hits for the r18 turbo build and that should help!
You deserve more views and subs
That would be sweet! Make sure you sub and like to help algorithm hit
Do the old bead roller trick with the plyers like I did. Still holding Strong. Congrats you said it you've done it your boosted!! Keep it up
Yes eventually I will get around to it but for now it’s holding boost no issues. Seems to be sealed very well!
Sometimes still surreal that I was able to piece it all together, install it, and tune it. 🙌
You don’t need to map fuel or spark - you set a target AFR and you 02 sensor feedback loop will maintain your target AFR.
For spark you set your maximum permissible knock count and your knock sensor will add or pull timing based on what it sees.
The idea that you need to map every load cell is old fashioned and outdated - you set your parameters and the computer will change what it needs to change in order to achieve your target numbers.
That’s true but if your target is much higher…. Having the sensor pull so much timing there is always a higher risk IMO. And for fuel the car only adjusts in closed loop part throttle. At wot / open loop it’s strictly the cells that are factored in. No adjustments are being made.
I know the new cars are able to make adjustments in open loop also which is nice.
Great to see it running!
I’m amazed it went so smooth
I’m ready for that next vid bro drop it lol
Lol I can’t keep up!
You think jb weld would be better for the leak I've read about people using jb weld on the defective r18 blocks that crack and leak coolant and apparantly it worked for them ... anyway man keep it coming lol when your all done let us know the total money spend I have the same car and a turbo would be awesome but unattainable for me atm
I got you covered! Yes you can also KB weld the fitting. I’m that would have been my next step but I figured I would use the permatex and so far it’s been leak free and I beat the shit out of it now
Coming along! Ready for those dyno pulls. I’d strip that gasket maker off the oil drain and use epoxy. Can’t wait to see the next one.
This doesn’t deserve a dyno session. Hard to dyno automatic and get a good low end run in.
The goat 👨💻
:)
I was wondering how you attached your blow off valve vacuum port!
To the intake manifold where PCV went
Congrats dude, looks great u need to do some pulls.
Thank man! I’ll be opening her up slowly after the break in period and as the tune gets better.
@@BulliKid so how is the drive now?? How is the sound??
I ended up getting a jdm motor 40,000. So im a bit behind u but im getting there.
Sound is legendary! Driver well overall
Something had to go wrong just for the heck of it - not your fault with the oil pan.
Yeah I knew it was going to be challenging but it’s all fixed now and holding up well. No leaks at the oil pan
Snail boi doing spinni things
I know the car is running and everything I’ve seen it on your Instagram. How is it holding up and how much power does it make?
Holding up perfect! Who knows on power. No dyno. But it’s about 10 HP per lb of boost. So maybe 50-65 HP extra
I’m kinda late but any chance this would fit on a 2013 1.8 civic I done my research on R18 kits and just wanted to know before I can buy it
Yes. Intercooler needs some custom work for either generation.
quick question when you were just regularly driving did it ever overheat
No
let’s goooo
Let’s gooo!!!
I'd order a pan and get a bung welded on. If i was a betting man id say that is only going to hold temporarily at best. Your going to want to push it some' and when you do it will pop. Im jealous though. Wish i had mine where your build is!
Yea new pan is best bet for anyone doing this. Def weld on would be more solid. But the permatex is holding up just perfect with it seeing boost! So far so good! 🤞
When i catch up im hoping to just get a second oil pan and gasket. Ill get that piece welded professionally somewhere. Probably a little more work and a pain in the ass like everything on an old car but hate to go get it tested on a dyno only to have it blow a line. My work isnt nearly as neat as yours and im sure it would be rough....
@@njguy1908 yes that’s the best option. I was going to buy a new pan and weld it. Or even tap it out of the car. But to be honest I wasn’t sure where the best spot clearance wise would be. Once I fitted the turbo it was clear.
@@BulliKid that's my concern too. I watched other videos but untill you mock it up and see how the lines all run and fit you never know.
Bro... Where I find the link for buy a turbo kit
Should be in my description
Do you have to pay for your Hondata??😊
Yes
Why can't you just use vtec also 😊
This car doesn’t have traditional vtec.
lowkey want to hear it without connected to the exhuast
I’ll probably end up taking axle back off or straight piping it in the future. I know no one expects a turbo build to be perfectly silent. Lol
is it necessary to install hondata?
100% yes
Not street Legal Right? How can you Pass the test every year
My test is every 2 years. And correct. I will have to probably pull some strings to get it to pass or possibly go back to stock for the test. I will find out next year.
Price all together ? and forged internals ? whp goals ? lsd ?
All stock
Price video will be made in the future.
Not sure on Whp no dyno but typical results are around 160-220 whp
Cleannn what intercooler and piping is that and is there a cai ?
All ebay! No intake now I need to make one for the turbo
@@BulliKid how much was the intercooler setup ?
@@hoodrich_hoodpope_freeEBE can’t recall top of my head. I’ll have a coat breakdown video in the future.
@@BulliKid thanks bro🙏🙏🙏 content is fire
Appreciate it!
I need help
Help, I have the turbo but I see a hole in the middle of the turbo, what function does it have? there are like 3
How so you pass emissions?
It won’t.
Stop spending u money..r18 'isn't going nowhere
It’s so much more fun now. Perfect daily driver. Just the right amount of power.
Watch ur tone....obviously this r18 has ur attention...
