Right on bro! Just finished with the Isuzu rodeo 3.2l v6 overhaul. Now it's time to start with the R18 Civic turbo kit build. I still need the oil pressure fitting for the oil send line.
Bro take off the pan when you're tapping and drilling it, wash it after you do that and then do whatever you want... if it doesn't catch it and it goes into the turbo journals or pistons bye bye engine :) Jesus. Jerryrig it is an understatement.
Looking into adding a turbo to my 2008 for the heck of it. Think I'll look into an alternative method for the oil port. Maybe buy one with a port (if they exist) or remove it first. Just to avoid the chances of shavings in the pan. Thanks for documenting your project. Really helps me think it through. No rush, so I'm just in research mode.

No hate but this is an economy engine, Had almost like reverse V-tec, Where valves open very little below 3500 and open like a normal SI above 3500. Also that block is not a heavy duty block meant to handle boost, Fun build tho, will hopefully give slightly more kick for a daily driver, Curious to what your numbers were probably around +30 - +40 HP. Nice work.

Cool build! Just a thought: why do you run the engine to let the filter take out eventual drill shavings from the oil? The oil including the shavings will go through your pump to! Wouldn't it have been easier to just remove the oil pan and do the drilling with the oil pan off the car?
In a perfect world that’s what you want to do and that’s what I did the second time around with the turbo build. It was kind of a pain in the butt to take the oil pan out of this car. Therefore, I did it the way I did it.

If this wasn’t my daily and had another car to use I would have dropped it. It’s a lot more work to drop this pan so I chose to do it this way. But you are absolutely right. Safest way is to drop the pan!

You should of drilled at the bottom side of the pan where oil sits at and that would submerge your oil line in oil at all times. Yeah, I'm sorry, but this guy is pretty far from knowledgeable, this is definitely one of the worst ways I've ever seen a turbo installed, mostly cuz so much is wrong, from the other comments it sounds like he ended up blowing up the engine from doing this, which doesn't surprise me one bit, thinking you can just throw a turbo on a stock block with stock internals is about as silly as thinking you can just add nitrous to a stock engine and think it'll be just fine, the proper way to do this would have been pulling the engine out and at the very least, doing something like stacking head gaskets to lower the compression ratio, and putting in aftermarket connecting rods, if not aftermarket pistons as well, because this engine is meant to be a relatively weak econobox designed to get you the best gas mileage, not power, it would have made so much more sense to start with an Si because at least that engine is meant to produce some power an not just get you as far as possible on a tank of gas, everyone thinks these R18s can be modded to make power because they have i-vtec , but the i-vtec system in this engine is nothing at all like the system in the k20a engine lol

Should work in theory. Depends if the head exhaust manifolds are the same size and bolt up together. The kit does not come with everything. What you see pictures is what you get with the kit. You have to buy few things to make it a functioning kit.

Hey man I have a 2015 civic exl, you and I both have 1.8L engines and the engine bays are pretty much the same. I’ve been looking for a turbo kit for mine and think the one u used will work but it says in the description on eBay that it’s only for 06-11 civics. Do u think it’ll work for mine?
Hey im reaching out because i wanna fix up my 2008 Honda Civic LX with 54,000 miles with an intake and stuff but some people have said adding a turbo will blow my little engine up. If any recommendations of intakes and headers would be awesome. Thank you so much.
Thanks for reaching out. Intake and header won’t do much. It will just sound better. I don’t have any companies in mind but obviously you get what you pay for as far as fitment and finish. A turbo can possibly make your engine blow but all depends on how much boost you run and the tune. So far mine is at 5k miles and I drive it hard every day.
The honest truth of the matter is the r18 was built for economy not performance.. you'll probably get around 200hp turbocharged.. My advice, just save money and buy an SI or do a swap ..

And I did what I could the best that I could have with what I had. No regrets. It was fun and I learned a lot. Only can learn from the process and keep going. 🙏💪✅
- whats the link for the iron cast for the turbo?
Link in description for turbo kit.
Can you disclose the eBay seller of you haven't had any issues out of this kit? This is a great series of videos btw. Gonna be my guide when I get a kit for my 06 coupe
Link in description! Thank you sir! And good luck
yessir finally tou been teasing me with those instagram stories 😒
Haha. Yes it’s much easier and faster to post on IG! Thanks for watching!
@@BulliKid thank you for making this video i have not seen this anywhere else, you’re making me want to turbo mine. do you have any idea when episode two is dropping?
@@starexploits5469 next week I should have it edited ! Yes not many people posting about the r18 so I figured I want to do it.
GOOOOOOOTTTTTT BOOOOOOOSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Finally watching the build serious! About time!
I saw you on Mobsquad or idk their names, anyway I saw you in the comments being disappointed about it being slow, with your experience, do you think it’s slow? I want to turbo mine with the Tsi kit.
It’s faster then stock…. But it wasnt fast enough to even beat some stock sport cars like a WRX, gti , ect it was totally worth it tho. I had the best joy with the turbo r18.
Should weld by TIG that pipe
I just bought my 08 coupe for 2k. Is this reliable? And do you have any other mods. Also can you tell a difference before and after the turbo. Will i need a dyno tune afterwards or will a flash tune do.
i’ve got so many questions bro
Yes big difference with turbo. You can do either a dyno or flash.
Dyno is best buy street tuning is ok too.
It’s been reliable so far.
What studs, oil bung connected to the turbo and all the good stuff did you buy for it ? I bought the same one you did but came with no bolts no oil bung nothing
That’s all extra stuff you have to buy
My question if theres a turbo hows the gas consumption? its gonna worst or gonna save ?
@@GianDelaCuesta-r1l depends how you drive but it will waste more because it makes more power. Who cares about fuel consumption when going for fun and power in the first place. If you are asking about fuel consumption when going turbo you lost the point of the project
Hey bro do you think this same application would work on the R20. Because I'm looking around for a kit and not seeing any. The turbo kit you have in the link below does it has oil feed and oil drain lines and fittings. By the way great video
Should work in theory. Depends if the head exhaust manifolds are the same size and bolt up together. The kit does not come with everything. What you see pictures is what you get with the kit. You have to buy few things to make it a functioning kit.
What’s your plans with the auto trans? I read somewhere that it doesn’t take much power to break them. And what kind of power were you looking to get out of your setup?
No plan. Hope it holds well. I’m shooting for 170-180 whp with the auto 6 psi
The cvt trans is fine up to 225 hp before encountering slipping and failing
@@jonreggio86 this isn't a cvt
trans cooler no launching will be fine
@@cartere9981 ayyy any idea what the 2013 1.8s standard trans can take? Its not cvt for sure.
thanks dude love the content
Gratitude!!! 🙏
Wait wait let me get this straight you got a Honda Civic lx ? Manual? And put this turbo ? Can this part fit a Honda Civic lx automatic??
My car is automatic. And yes I did. And yes you can too. Subscribe and follow the playlist. Im doing a raffle for the turbo kit if we hit 30k
What else you need
I wanna turbocharge my civic but I want it to still be street legal cuz it's my daily lol
It will work. Intercooler will have have to be custom piping.
Can you list down the stuff you used.?i mean the parts.
@@aryannaaisy897 I have a video with all the parts I used refer back to the playlist
would this fit on the uk spec 8th gen which is a hatch. ik it probably will but i’m jus thinking if the pipes might be different lengths?
The concept should be the same if anything you have to just watch out for the intercooler piping to make it work for you
Hey im reaching out because i wanna fix up my 2008 Honda Civic LX with 54,000 miles with an intake and stuff but some people have said adding a turbo will blow my little engine up.
So far mine is at 5k miles and I drive it hard every day.
you done did it
Yes ! Focus my energy on the build for a few months and bam! Any this is possible if you set your mind to it.
good music choice
Thanks
Nice jop👏👏, what is the all turbo name?? I want to buy one
Thank you. Check out the full playlist for details.
Me with my fb2 knowing what’s possible but to crazy bruh 😅😅
Just a little crazy. Take the leap!
That’s gonna be really fun....how many miles you got on the engine?
I just passed 98k
I didn’t compression test few weeks ago.
Checkout the turbo playlist of everything!
How did it hold up and how much hp did u jump
Awesome brother !
Thanks! Help support the channel! We doing this
now my question is... will this cause my car to fail emmisions?
Yes but there are work around to make it pass
Hey bro even tho it’s automatic I can put a turbo in ?And what parts that I need after I put in the turbo ?
Yes my car automatic. Watch the playlist. I have video of the entire build.
What engines can I put in a 08 Honda Civic automatic
The honest truth of the matter is the r18 was built for economy not performance.. you'll probably get around 200hp turbocharged.. My advice, just save money and buy an SI or do a swap ..
200 a lot more fun then 140 if you can do it on a big budget like I did.
If you are looking for a real performance car then yes. Save and get a better platform to start with. Case closed.
When you mean swap do you mean an engine swap? If he added a VTEC would it change anything or would your LX have problems when reaching high speeds ?
damn!!..nice cool vid brah..i hv r18a also..will do the same
Thanks and Goodluck on your build!
Hey man, awesome job on the turbo build. I'm from UK 🇬🇧 and have the mk8 r18 civic, Do you have a list of all the parts you used in addition to the ebay turbo
Hello! Thanks for watching. I do not have a list but I have videos of the parts in the playlist before I installed it! Cheers
@@BulliKid great ill have a look. Again awesome work
New Sub!!!!!!
Thank you I appreciate the sub!!
Did the turbo kit come with all the oil drain lines and bung a T connector
No
Hey what did you do with the catalytic converter when you finished the build?
I have it in storage
@@BulliKid if you were to put a catalytic converter on would you have to do some modifications to the OEM exhaust system? And how would you go about hooking the O2 sensor back on it?
You would need a aftermarket converter and a o2 sensor extensor.
hey this is Dima Herr and i was seeking help on putting a turbo on my car it's a 2012 Handa civic dx sudan
@@Dima-x1l9g how can I help
how many miles did your engine have when you did this

eBay turbo kit. Link in description.
new sub!! bro here in the philippines
Hey thanks my friend!!
How much did you spend total?
Hey.. great vid.. there isnt much on mods regarding these engines on the net.. im planning on doing a turbo kit on my car aswel.. its a fk2 civic r18a.. what did you do about the map sensor ?
Thanks. The map sensor is oem. I didn’t touch it.
@@BulliKid okay cool.. because i read up on the full boost page and they mentioned that the conversion needs a 4 bar hondata map sensor.. did you do anything in the hondata software to compensate for that? Because if the oem map sensor is rated for 2bar then i think i should be fine im only planning on pushing maximum 0.8bar because our 91 and 93 pump gas quality isnt the greatest.. so i dont want to take any chances..
@@marcoabrahams2333 over 10 psi you need hondata 4 bar map sensor.
I am running max 7 psi. Stock map does just fine.
Brilliant ... Thanks@@BulliKid .. ill watch the rest of the vids just to see what i need to look out for
Perfect! Enjoy
