- Rocky Mountain National Park is unpredictable in fall. It may treat you with pleasant warmth of the last sun rays in the morning, shower you with rain and hail in the afternoon, and throw at you a real winter wonderland in the evening.
The higher you go, the colder and severe the weather becomes. If you are lucky, you can still be one of the last visitors hiking the Tundra Communities Trail along the Trail Ridge Road before it closes for the season.
