We were so happy that perfect mooring spot was still free when we got there. Hamish is such a character Jill! He makes us laugh, and even more so when he was with his old friend Dexter! Two old men together ambling along the tow path 😂❤️
Absolutely stunning views aren’t they! When I’m editing I always marvel at how tight some of those bridge holes are, probably even more so than in real life! We have the Harecastle tunnel footage coming up in the next few weeks and that gets really, really low!!! 😳
We did this section back in 1996 and agree, one of our favorite canals. Too bad you weren't a month later, it was even prettier when the trees were leafed out. Great photography.
Thank you so much, and glad we could bring back some lovely memories for you! We said at the time we would love to go back a little later and see the Peak Forest canal in its full glory! It's definitely on our list to return 😊
Ooooh again the memories. Thank you so much. Peak Forest has to be our most favourite canal, so peaceful and calming. We absolutely loved it and stayed in Bugsworth for 2 days when we cruised the Cheshire ring. Unfortunately we were tied to time in those days so couldn't amble as we would have liked to. Now we have the time but no boat 😢 The scenery is amazing and of course I love it, I come from about 5 miles from Bugsworth Basin
Our pleasure Liz! We absolutely loved the Peak Forest and will be back again for sure. This next video that I have almost finished editing and will get out later today has us leaving the wonderful Bugsworth Basin and eventually leaving the Peak Forest after mooring with the most beautiful view near Furnace Vale. You are lucky to some from such a beautiful part of the country 😊
Thanks so much! Doesn’t it make you feel so much better with those first glimpses of spring! Nothing better to lift the spirits than daffodils, snowdrops and blossom 😊
Glad you enjoyed it and love that we brought back some wonderful memories for you! It’s such a beautiful canal isn’t it. We will definitely go back one day to enjoy it all over again 😊
I’ve absolutely loved editing these videos of us travelling with the boys, and reliving the wonderful memories! That mooring spot at the end was just perfect for our two boats, with our own private garden!! Glad you are enjoying the videos. Lots more to come of us all together! 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard can’t wait! Always a treat to see your goings on and the jolly westie crew, they must be a comfort after the sad loss of Jasper. Dogs are so good on boats with Dexter and now Bonny, they keep us all entertained for sure! Looking out for spring now! ❤️
Very lovely canal. Plus a epic 'slip' at the end. thank you for the video. 50's and 60's here last week... now we might get some snow toward end of the week. Hope puppies / family and the both of you are doing well. Take care
Wasn’t that just the perfect mooring at the end of the cruise! We were so lucky. Like our own private garden for the two boats! We are so fed up with the rain here. We seems to have so much more than usual, and far too many named storms this year. We are looking forward to some sunshine and warmer weather, as I’m sure you are! ☀️😊
@@onedaymoreaboard Hoping for a great spring and summer season. I bought a new fly rod, looking forward to some fishing. I have access to a private pond. Which holds some giant bass. But really after some smaller fish. Just fun to catch and release them to catch them maybe some day again. Hope you got the 'coffee' ok. Just doing my best to help you 'guys' out. Take care, God Bless.
Thank you once again for the coffees Spinner. We appreciate it so much and have been able to get far better microphones than we were planning on. All of our ‘coffees’ help towards the subscription to Epidemic Sound, the music library I use for our videos. Sophie is the star fisherman/fisherwoman (is that a thing?) in our family! She famously caught 34 catfish on a weekend trip to Lake Livingston in Texas! She has never let Pete forget that 😂
@@onedaymoreaboard Your welcome - just my small way of giving back to a very nice couple. I get to watch your videos while taking care of the 'boss' of 48 years. It might be a bit till the next one though. I don't get to fish like I use to. Hard to find a place with enough clearing to fly fish. No boat and you cannot 'wake or float' fish in state lakes. Did catch and release about 15 trout years back up in Wisconsin. Sadly my fishing buddy from Iowa passed on years back. Camped along the stream owned by a group. $5 for the night... take care Spin
Peak Forest really does seem a cut above. Before I forget again, do you know anything about nb Texas? Do you think Poppy recognized Dexter, Jess and Archie from watching them on telling back here in Texas? Some of those canalside homes are just perfection.. Leigh
We don’t know anything about that narrowboat Texas Star. It didn’t seem like anyone was on board or we would have stopped to chat! One of our name choices for our boat was actually Lone Star! Poppy definitely recognises Dexter and Jess and Archie when she sees them on TV now, as she doesn’t bark! It’s like she knows they are her friends that she sees fairly regularly! They have always all got on really well. Dexter even started tolerating her in the few months we were travelling with the boys! 😊
Peak Forest has really beautiful views. The countryside is gorgeous. The sky is very moody but the glimpses of sun helps a lot. I'm really sensitive to the lack of sun. A day or two is OK but any longer and I start getting depressed. Sometimes spring here can be very rainy and I just live for the sunshine. 🌞 That was a definitely a perfect 'private' mooring in the Basin. Soon the daffodils will be out again!
Wasn’t it just the perfect spot for the two boats. We were so excited when we saw it was still free when we arrived! We know exactly what you mean about the lack of sun, it’s just makes you feel so much better when the sun is shining doesn’t it. It was a beautiful canal wasn’t it! And that perfect mooring spot at the end was just the icing on the cake for us! We were quite surprised too at how close we felt to everything, but also felt in the middle of nowhere in our mooring spot on the return journey, which you will see next time.
