What a wonderful Vlog! I deliver to Chesterfield quite regularly and always take the A623 over the High Peak. Stunning views! I would get glimpses of the canal around Furness Vale where there is a beautiful marina and it was just the most beautiful drive out lol (sounds like it wasn't even work!) Driving through beautiful places while the sun shines does make for an easy day! A brief view of the Chapel Milton Viaduct before heading towards Peak Forest, Eyam (mentioned in the Doomsday book), beautiful Baslow which has the quirkiest little shop that I've still to pop in! I can recommend the Tollbar Fish & Chip ship to Rich in Stoney Middleton if ever you're driving through! Its tiny! Well done on rescuing the chick, you just have to help mother nature sometimes 👌 and I have to say what a great choice in music to accompany the visuals! I love the fact that you journal Fran, I'm a bit of a stationery fan myself. I use a Midori travelers notebook with fountain pens 🖊. The scenery is really amazing on that canal and you captured it beautifully. That was nice! Thanks for bringing us along. Since you recognize the blackberry bushes, do you think you will recognize them in the fall when the leaves are falling off? If not, you can tie an off color band or ribbon and know it when you reach it. In the fall when plants decide to retreat for the winter, the sap falls back to the roots (and the leaves fall off). Floating Our Boat - my husband used to be the same. I was in medicine for 35 years and returned to school to earn a Master Herbalist as I had moved into the Appalachia’s and needed a strong understanding of what my patients were taking. I learned, the first year of study, that the UK & Germany among other countries required physicians and pharmacists to study this alongside their other studies. Herbal medicine was still a part of their practice. I worked as an Herbalist alongside a physician (who did not know much about herbs but was confident in their usefulness) with some fantastic discoveries. Most of my referrals were from physicians who ran out of things to try. I was able to successfully treat a 5 year old with fairly severe plaque psoriasis. After a month of treatment, it was gone. Not cured because I wanted him off of wheat and all he would eat was pasta. But the bathes and capsules kept it at bay. His treatment was expensive as I made my own remedies so I spent a session with his grandmother teaching her how to make the stuff and urging her to use rice noodles and such as well as where to buy ingredients. I retired about 12 years ago and hopefully they are okay. I have handfuls of stories and self treat (with my docs permission though he rolls his eyes, but allows me several months to try my ‘voodoo ‘ as he calls it to see if the herbs correct the lab values) and I have friends and family who use what I recommend but otherwise I stay home and care for husband. He is very very ill. ANYWAY, given the choice, I will always use herbs first because the side effects are minimal using the whole herb (symbiosis) rather than extracting only the property that causes the results hoped for and discarding everything else, which is what the pharmaceutical companies do. And herbs have gentler yet more effective and longer lasting benefits. And I just stepped up on my soapbox. I am sorry! I thought that I had put that away! 🤐
@@maobfh Hi Rebecca, don' put your soapbox away, it is great to have passion. I am a great believer in the healing power of plants which started when I was giving Medieval and Tudor garden tours and talking about the apothecary gardens. I bought Potters herbal which gives the biochemical constituents of plants and explained how they really can work. I don't know enough to use many remedies, but I am always reading up on the wild plants around us and their uses. My favourite has to be purple sage for sore throats and I will be making elderberry rob again this year to ward off the winter coughs and colds. Thanks for your comments. Fran x
Lovely video from my home district, Buxton, Peak Dale, Dove Holes etc. Not quite the same here in NZ, beauty no doubt, but without the history and interesting bits and bobs. I envy you your lifestyle. Keep up the wonderful, homely vlogs. Cheers
Thanks for another great vlog. Stunning views, glad to see you rescue the chick from a nasty end. Enjoy your camping side trip, Looks like you can read for a while with all those fresh books. Ed 40 south of vegas
Lovely to see there are others who love books, I suffer from abstinens if I'm without a book. They do take up a lot of room, though. Handy with the wildlife, and flora reference books, but have you tried the various 'on line' possibilities? I use something called 'Gutenberg', all the classics are there, but nothing of newer date; it's free so that's a plus. Wild camping sounds good, hope it doesn't rain on you. Enjoy and take care.
I'm first...I'm first! This is a lovely video ….again. I just thought my Sunday couldn't get any better, and then I found you. It takes you about 10 minutes on Constanze to lose that stressed look. It must be wonderful to have a whole boat of "tranquil"...Hugs, Merry Ann from Minnesota
Hi Merry Ann. We always breathe a huge sigh of relief when we get back on the boat and let the madness of the world just slip away. We don't need all this mindfulness and hygge stuff. Just our boat. x
The wievs from the Pennienes are fantastic. I think those canals up north seems to be the nicest (more atractive than the llanglothland (the spelling is free of charge)), but I kind of like open wievs and harch landscapes. If you can muster a liter or more of blackberrys then make gelly (as first and then a second boil for lemonade). There are feve things that beats any of them. You could try a wet touvel to cool the wine. Nice work.
Beautiful as always, could smell the apple an blackberry crumble as well as the sweet factory, loved those sherbert dips. Didn't the love hearts have a tangy twist to them? We have a sister in Macclesfield - Alison she's been there now for 25yrs! We spent 3 days and 2 nights on the same canal, on the wandering Duck cruiser stern with people who had spent time in NZ running a hostel in Kaikoura, south island east coast. small world eh. happy travells x
You are right it is beautiful on this canal we were there in July found bugs worth basin fascinating so much history a great place to spend a couple of days
We are binging on back episodes....Really enjoying these! My better half, bless her, is Japanese. But the Midland and Sarff London accents, confuse her at times and I need to translate,,,She smiles, and says I see! She loves your videos,,,and so do I. Thank you both. The only problem is,,,,, I can see my Mrs mind working,,, I love living in Japan,,,, She wants a narrow boat! I can see it!! Maybe when I retire....not too far away hey? Thank you so much and please keep your vids coming! Ian
Interesting info for you about Kinder Scout...There is a great camping site at Hope (1.5 miles from Jacobs Ladder). 2 miles from Kinder downfall (the waterfalls) is the remains of an aircraft which crashed during the Berlin Airlift.
Thank you Robert. So many birds must have died there this year. It's a shame CRT can't find away to sort it out. At the moment it is down to local boaters and RSPCA to help out the victims.
Thank you for another great video. Fran, you always look smashing. Never see you in the same outfit twice. Where do you stow your extensive wardrobe? Love the way you two often color coordinate your outfits. (Rich, you look nice as well)
love your vlogs here's a few ideas, perhaps a small 12 volt cooler I know you can get them small enough for like a 6 pack, maybe a book shelf up high behind the sofa that way you don't bump your head and finally the CRT could fence netting around the drain to stop the chicks from falling in.
We have thought about a cooler, but to be honest we have managed so far. The book shelf above the sofa us a good idea. I'm sure we can fit more books in somewhere 😁
Hi guys,. Well fully understand the book thing ,if I was ever lucky enough to get a boat I would have to get one that has at least the extra bedroom just for the can't do without books. As I said totally understand, nice glass of slightly chilled wine and a good book as the sun goes down, with my dog's layed at my feet. You can't beet that . Nice one on the Moore hen. Question have you thought about putting in one of those under floor cellar , I'm sure that Rich and his brother could knock one up in a day then no more plastic bags and always on ice. Just a thought. Anyway thanks for the videos looking forward to your next. Be safe. P.s. how about a quick video on the making of the apple and blackberry cobbler.????
Thanks for your suggestion. We do both have a Kindle but we haven't looked at them in years and they are they are now dusty as we can't break free from our physical book addiction 😲.

Can't say enough about how great the scenery is. Excellent photo opportunities for still images. Love the drone shots Rich. Question ? How are you making out with your quest for the Silver Propeller challenge?
Thank you Gary. We have not taken on the silver propeller challenge. We aim to go to as many places and canals as we can, but we just do it as and when we feel and we're not worried about the certificates. Thanks for watching.
Rich has watched a couple of his videos, I think we will explore more of them. We had a great time camping and we had a tiny camping stove for our morning brew. More news in our next episode. Thanks for watching. Fran x
I lived in marple left in the 80s. Swizzles was the place to get sweets £1 for a big bag of mixed sweets. As kid we would go up and down the 16 locks helping ppl out. Bet kids not do it now a days
Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe the scenery in that part of the world does it - you just have to be there, I was born and raised in Derbyshire, try to get back every couple of years (see the old Mum etc.) Sorry I couldn't comment on the last vlog (big news and all) - but something along the lines of 'being institutionalised' might have been appropriate ;)
I would suggest watching at least a few of FellWanderer’s UA-cam vlogs on wild camping, if you have a chance. Besides being a cheeky mess in a pair of boots, he has been wild camping for years, so has the experience. Really enjoy his videography as well. Thanks for the upload...now for a glass of wine.
I guess you saw Robbie just got 6 episodes on BBC4 ? You and Foxes Afloat should be the next ones ! 100 Miles Rich / 4 hrs , chill easy driving . Question , how do Narrowboaters traveling do for Doctors ? Love the episode, Cauldon still better ! ?
We are so pleased for Robbie, he has worked so hard for this and deserves it. He is a great guy. We can go into any doctors surgery and get treated as a visitor if there is an emergency. As we let our cottage as a holiday home we are still registered there with a doctor. Otherwise I think some people use a friends or relatives address to be registered at a practice
@@FloatingOurBoat Thanks, I was not sure if this was still the case .happy boating..
Cheers
Fran, is that a zucchini plant on the roof? Please give us a tour of your on board garden. TY.
What a lovely canal!! Thanks for the beauty video.... was there a shop at the Love Hearts factory?? I think it will be Peak Forest and Ashby for me!!
Unfortunately, no shop at the factory. They do have an on line store though where you can order personaslised love hearts. It's worth a look
Love the Vid. You are right the views are fantastic . OH mind the Bridge ! Great Trotters Independent canal Boat at the end 👍😜
The views can be quite dangerous when we are trying to navigate a narrow stretch. There is so much to look at. It's a good job we only pootle along!
What a beautiful location, the English countryside is amazing in the summer. You are so lucky to be able to live like this, thanks for sharing!
We know we are lucky, and we love sharing the beauty of our countryside and the views. Thanks for watching.
Lovely vlog guys thank you.
Thank you for watching x
Thanks for another great vlog. Stunning views, glad to see you rescue the chick from a nasty end. Enjoy your camping side trip, Looks like you can read for a while with all those fresh books. Ed 40 south of vegas
We are torn between cruising, walking, camping and cruising at the moment. We're definitely not complaining though can
That swizzle factory smelt so good!
WE do both have Kindles, but there is nothing like holding a book. We are both completely addicted.
love the views great vlog
Really are enjoying your videos the Peak District is a lovely place.
Regard P&P
Thank you, We love it here
I'm first...I'm first!
Nice work.
Blackberry jelly is definitely on the list.
Hi Becky. You can't beat a love heart can you. We are going to try to find the factory shop tomorrow. Rich is in heaven x
Another great video, beautiful scenery , my favourite area love it around there , thanks for sharing , take care ATB Paul
Thank you Paul. We are absolutely loving it here. Thanks for watching x
You are right it is beautiful on this canal we were there in July found bugs worth basin fascinating so much history a great place to spend a couple of days
Another brilliant vlog thanks. We had that same journal on our boat.
It is such a great thing to have the journal. We often look back to where we were a year ago. We have travelled so far.
Ian
PS.....The baby chick......she cried,,,,😜 The Japanese and us Welsh are so very emotional!! Well done young fella.....
Ah, that's so lovely. Sorry to be causing you dilemmas. I think a narrowboat holiday may be in order.
Interesting info for you about Kinder Scout...There is a great camping site at Hope (1.5 miles from Jacobs Ladder). 2 miles from Kinder downfall (the waterfalls) is the remains of an aircraft which crashed during the Berlin Airlift.
On top of all, well done!
Great to see Moorhen rescue in action , must be a real death trap for most birds and animals, the boat just keeps looking better and better !!
Thank you Robert. So many birds must have died there this year. It's a shame CRT can't find away to sort it out. At the moment it is down to local boaters and RSPCA to help out the victims.
Lovely videos as always. The peak forest canal is lovely. Can I ask what is the acoustic song you use with the humming plz.

Thank you for another great video. Fran, you always look smashing. Never see you in the same outfit twice. Where do you stow your extensive wardrobe? Love the way you two often color coordinate your outfits. (Rich, you look nice as well)
What a novel idea!! A drinkable boat fender!!!!
Not really, its a classic to smuggle liqour in fenders. ;-)
love your vlogs here's a few ideas, perhaps a small 12 volt cooler I know you can get them small enough for like a 6 pack, maybe a book shelf up high behind the sofa that way you don't bump your head and finally the CRT could fence netting around the drain to stop the chicks from falling in.
I know you'll enjoy The Wind in the Willows being dyslexic reading is daunting. Audiobooks have been go to
Really looking forward to it Marty. Audio books must be s godsend for you. I used to listen to them when I did a lot of driving.
Fran x
nice one
You could have a look at a pop in pop cooler... Would work perfect for your wine
Nice video.
Hi Paul, what is a pop in pop cooler? we are intrigued.
@@FloatingOurBoat Watch this... ua-cam.com/video/vO_sYVrU4Uw/v-deo.html
YOu can do it with smaller pots, the size of a wine bottle...
Must have missed you passing swizzles, They have a shop around the back?? no sure of opening times. Going to be passings my Old Pub.
We are going back that way so will definitely look for the swizzles shop. Rich will be in heaven!
Kindle. I read everything on my iPad now. I do miss turning the pages & dogging the ears.
Thanks for your suggestion. We do both have a Kindle but we haven't looked at them in years and they are they are now dusty as we can't break free from our physical book addiction 😲.
Mr. and Mrs.!!
Thankfully people fought for open access to land owned by people especially in the Peak District.....
What you call a crumble we call in USA cobbler!
Rich, Apple & Blackberry crumble you got it sorted, how the better half live! great to see you both back on Constanze, even the dogs miss it. Sherbet Dips one of my favorites as a child (hate the word kid, not a goat). on my boating news purchased Misty J,😀 (a 40' John South boat from 1983) this week having to be marina based for now, (work, so I can pay for it 🤔).
Wow, that's great news about your boat. Good luck !
Floating Our Boat Thank you
the Swizzels Matlow Factory is where i work
MrKingdig do indeed and since 1928. Look up Drumstick Squashies, they are so good
We went past again yesterday, the smell is amazing. Such a shame there is not a factory shop.
@@FloatingOurBoat il bring some bags with me :)
Oh My you are actually near where i live right now :) which is in Strines
Looking forward to meeting you.
@@FloatingOurBoat same, hope the weather stays dry later
Have you been watching tom outdoors doing his wild camping? Have you got your alcohol stove ready for your morning cup of tea?
Rich has watched a couple of his videos, I think we will explore more of them. We had a great time camping and we had a tiny camping stove for our morning brew. More news in our next episode. Thanks for watching.

I lived in marple left in the 80s. Swizzles was the place to get sweets £1 for a big bag of mixed sweets. As kid we would go up and down the 16 locks helping ppl out. Bet kids not do it now a days
Marple is a really lovely town. I guess you got tipped by boaters for helping at the locks. No sign of any help at the locks now, more the pity.
Floating Our Boat you would think so but most of the time we just got a thanks at the end ☹️
Hope archie is ok, known a few dogs to get I'll swallowing water that may have something in it like blue green algae or farm run off.
Archie is fine now. We haven't been near any risky water. We think he was just sulking because he wanted to swim more. X
@@FloatingOurBoat 🤣😂 bless him, glad hes back to his usual self 🐶🐶
Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe the scenery in that part of the world does it - you just have to be there, I was born and raised in Derbyshire, try to get back every couple of years (see the old Mum etc.) Sorry I couldn't comment on the last vlog (big news and all) - but something along the lines of 'being institutionalised' might have been appropriate ;)
Oh no! hope you're ok. Maybe you are due for a bit of Derbyshire therapy. We love it.
Thanks for the recommendation Doug. We have been watching a few walking and camping vlogs but haven't found this one, so we'll give it a go. X
Floating Our Boat , I really think you’ll enjoy the channel. I believe he must live up above the Lake District. Have a day!
You two are among my 4 favorite sites and indeed I understand the Trent and Stoke and the Cauldon are one of the episodes ! Not saying you inspired them but they seem to be doing an industrial heritage angle and your videos are the ones I get when searching for Stoke-on-Trent and Cauldon so you may have inspired them !!!
Novels in the bedroom eh !, rambling here and there, Blackberry and Apple crumble yum, what busy times you have and getting married. Not enough hours in the day is there. Happy Autumn by the way. Parma violets and drumstick lollies, not that my gnashers can handle the chew.....
it is hard fitting it all in sometimes, but there is always tomorrow. Parma violets are my absolute favourite and no chewing necessary. Apparently they were originally intended as breath fresheners and sold in pubs and I have heard you can make parma violet gin. I might just have to try it.

How about that yellow boat wow.
superb scenery guys ,,,, you both need to get a tablet for all your books lots cheaper n stores 1000s of books n no room taken up
Thank you Mick. We do both have a Kindle but we haven't looked at them in years and they are now dusty as we can't break free from our physical book addiction 😲.
Never knowing where to store books, I have started to just read them on tablets
We both have a Kindle but rarely use them. We just love books! X
what song is that on 7:15 it is ferry nice
In the light of the upcoming wedding I started to wonder how long you have known each other. The way you act It looks like you have known each other for ages?
What a welcome relief from Brexit drudgery............thank you
Thank you. We all need that! X
