You just cant beat the 60's 70's and early 80's ROCK N ROLL God Blessed us all back then with Music that really had Heart Poured into it !!!!!!!! Miss being a Sound Engineer from those day's it was a Memorable Experience Tour Bus Runs and Early Rise for Set-Up and Sound Checks and late to Bed with a Good Joint and the Echo of the Tour Bus Engine purring me to sleep !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can still close my Eye's and Hear It, and Feel It, I can still remember Cruisin Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Strip going up and down the Blvd. when I wasn't on Tour, I had the Top Down Jammin And Cruisin nothing else like it, The Good Ole Day's WHEN MUSIC WAS A WAY OF LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the best of all was being able to go on Tour Overseas seeing other cultures of Life and There People so a Blessing to be able to reminisce on all of it is just knowing what I did I made a lot of People Happy !! and got to know them and can still call them My Friend's I still to this Day call some of them and write them God Bless all of Them and to many I can't R.I.P.

This was one of the greatest concerts of all time, I remember watching this on tv as a child. (Live) Line up included; Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Status Quo to name a few. This started my love for music.
This was on VHS in my local library for reasons that will never be clear, I lived in a 5000 population small rural town in Finland back then.I would just repeatedly loan this tape and watch it. Status Quo, Dire Straits and Elton John were the artists presented. I didn't care so much for the others, I just re-watched Dire Straits again and again. Good times.
I've said for a long time, I think Mark Knopfler is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time, rhe man is brilliant... And with Clapton that's insane... Ultra cool 😎

Knopfler and Clapton. ❤️ Two very skilled musicians. There are a lot of technically more skilled - faster- kids out there. But if musicallity counts, there are few that matches them.

Nice closeup of Mark's finger style on this. He gets such a crisp sound with no finger picks or thumbpick. I am in awe!
He adopted his style of picking from Chet Atkins, and then built on it. His album “Brothers in Arms “ with Chet shows the admiration he had for the man.
The blonde backup singer is absolutely gorgeous, I saw Dire Straits in Sydney in 1986 They played 20 concerts in Sydney, absolutely fabulous.

This is really spectacular. Long-time fan (mainly because of my brother-in-law and wife who are fans.) I like how the whole song prepped for the female backup vocalists. There's quite a bit of massive creativity n this performance. Everyone was really smiling. Big one. It's totally hypnotizing.
In 1985 I was stationed at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, California when I saw the video for this song on MTV. I'll never forget that day. Great song, better memory.
Saw Dire Straits play the whole album on their Brothers In Arms tour back in the '80s. One of the best concerts I've ever seen!

I think Clapton, Knopfler and Richard Thompson are *the* giants of British guitar playing. Not sure any of them is king as such. But all hugely talented lead guitarists and singer-songwriters (which is why I leave out, say, Jeff Beck).
The gods, their interesting coats, *the complementary wind* and their guitar work; makes this rendition the badass most of all time!

Thirty years ago ! Where have all the years gone ? I really like Dire Straits. I used to say, "The second greatest band ever, after the Beatles.
Mark is also a great man. I worked as roadie at his concert in Zagreb and as we completed the stage, he made a toast opening every last can of beer for us, all by himself (!).
By the way, he already had his fingers insured at rate of $3M :-) What a great honour it was! I still have that empty can as souvenir.
