Pellet Precisions should get shot package. They feel so inconsistent. I'd rather two tap with lightweights. Lightweight vs Aggressive has a nice balance currently in my opinion. Of course in trials aggressives will be better but lightweights have a ton of advantages in 6s.
bungie should make big maps without any small room, corners etc so that shotguns will be almost useless on that map and if others still want to use shotty, they can just play smaller maps.

I loved the video but from experience,(having 1500+ kills on a quickdraw snapshot CQC), retold doesn’t feel nearly as consistent as CQC does, and the kill range is roughly the same. Other than that though keep up the great work!
If you want to make shotgun builds incredibly tilted; run witherhorde with grenade launcher scavenger, keep shooting the ground, they will still kill you but they slide through and die as well, I loved reading all those messages yesterday during the banner telling me how unskilled I am...yet I finished with a nearly 2.0 on my least used character... Love to see the shotgunners whine.
Its oppressive on the smaller maps. But you know what many things are oppresive in PvP. I have learned to accept and not blame others and blame myself for overextending and not playing on my weapon's strengths and weaknesses. I sure dont blame shotgun users, since its a far riskier strategy than sniping. If i blame something its Felwinters and the OP perk Focused Package. So thats on Bungie's fault because the other shotguns arent as good. But as i said having a more laid back approach is the best thing to have. For me the most bad thing in Crucible is that top elo players dont play for zones and just camp lanes or kill people in spawn. I have moved past from that point (spawn camped) since i am way more decent in Crucible now, but i think it takes the fun out of the less skilled players and that in general is not good for the overal health of the game.
My most recent video is actually pretty close for the behemoth build; I now run tectonic+howl to snag 4 fragments, then my entire game is played around crystals and the chains/rime fragments. It's unfortunately pretty slow to play that way so I think I'll have more fun on striker/hammer but it's incredibly powerful still, I just can't be *as* aggressive as I used to hahaha
Sojourner's has actually been my main shotty in the energy slot. I think, kind of like snipers, slug shotguns are really subjective in terms of feel, and Sojo feels *awesome* to me. I have Tunnel vision & Opening Shot on mine and I've completely fallen in love with it.
I have fallen hard for lightweights this season. Because the handling is so good that you don’t need quickdraw, you can afford to take slideways/shot. I value that perk extremely highly and have made some crazy plays that I never could have without it, blasting down titan barricades and chasing down revive trains in Trials.
the Toil and Trouble that Banshee was selling last week with Range MW, Full Choke, Slideshot and Snap is actually damn nice. It made me put down Astral and CQC for the first time. Love the firing sound and sights on it.
Um, frankly, Seventh Sheraph should at least be an A tier as you can get incredible handling (quickdraw, snapshot), its rate of fire allows to easily outshoot Flewinter’s Lie in the case of an enemy missing the first shot or executing shot+mele combo, and overall you can miss a shot and easily do a follow up shot unlike Found Verdict nor Flewinter’s...
Hey, i just wanted to say that on the Riiswalker...I have one with: 1 Rifled barrel 2 Accurized rounds 3 Quickdraw 4 Iron reach And a masterwork of range (total is 96 range) Maybe you right about range, but, telling the truth, you feel that is different when you have your stats at more of 90 compare to the other ones with 84... The shotgun i have is a totally monster, try to get it, is very good shotgun.
In lieu of threat detector, moving target is pretty helpful for mitigating the low AA. Sojourners tale, apart from maybe Duality with its catalyst, is b.i.s for energy slugs. To boot, it’s also hyper-easy to farm for.

Great video! Good point about the low aim assist on the FILO and Sunshot. As each new weapon is released in the same archetype, they seem to receive a higher aim assist stat. I'm guessing it's to make them appear crispier and to counter in game latency.
So I figured out what the deal is with slug gun aim assist. There are actually two categories (like sub-archetypes) of slug shotgun. The first and more common has low aim assist and high handling. This includes Sojourner's, Gunnora's, Unification, and Good Bone Structure. The other has much higher aim assist with lower handling. These are Bonechiller and Blasphemer. Check it out in light.gg or d2 gunsmith. This also explains why Heritage is so cracked. It has better handling than all the high handling types and better aim assist than all the low handling types. It also has really high base range. The perks aren't as good, but the absolutely insane base stats make up for it.

Yo castle hear me out, xenoclast is super hard to get the roll you want but I managed to get one with killing wind and it’s actually really good with that perk. If I end up getting the roll I want I’ll definitely preach about it to you if it’s any good haha I think it has the potential to be on the same level as riiswalker or retold.

i have one with field prep(wish would be slide-shot/ways) and doublepunch seems kinda stupid to run with it in pvp until you realize you can shot punch a titan out of his bubble also even if you miss some shots the increased melee dmg allows to shot punch anyway as long as you hit half your shots because of 150 melee's
i actually prefer lightweight frame over aggressive, cqc's been my fav even iduring last 2 seasons when felwinter's rule. The mobility boost is just so noticeable and i'm so used to be fast as f running around with a shoty. xD

Gotta disagree with CQC. For me, that thing is S-Tier. I have a Full choke, Accurized, Slideshot, Snapshot roll, with handling MW. It's the most consistent shotgun I have imo. Especially on Hunter. Astral Horizon on the other hand, is garbage. It never performs well for me. Maybe it's the perks. Maybe it's the weird way it looks when aiming, idk. All I know is I want to dismantle my Adept one and never use it again. 💩
I got an astral that has: Full choke/rifled barrel Accurized rounds/assault mag Slide shot Opening shot Stability master work However I feel like it has no range at all and I'm barely getting 1 shot kills with this. Ishtar app says with full choke on the range is 43. But when you talk about range at the riiswalker timestamp, I'm now guessing I'm just not consistent with this shotgun maybe?
My quickdraw/snapshot, full choke,aqurized rounds and handling mw Mindbenders has emerged back from the depths of my vault again. Since the quickdraw change it's the only agressive with the perk left in the game and even in it's nerfed state it's still amazing, esp with the handling mw which used to be completely wasted. My quickdraw/slideshot one is also good but since the qd nerf I'm preferring snapshot and because it couldn't roll opening shot I feel it's the best perk in slot. It's great in everything but Trials and IB, which is most of the pvp modes in the game but is especially amazing for comp since apparently nobody kept one as I haven't seen a single other Mindbenders this season. I wonder if it was an oversight by Bungie since it can still be used in most pvp modes. Also there's no Scorn champions and because the normal nightfalls have been removed in lieu of only ordeals the Mindbendees isn't available anymore.

Retrofuturist with Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Quickdraw, Trench Barrel, and a Range Masterwork is my most consistent shotgun out of all of my "God Roll" shotties.

i have to say with the deicide it is very fun to use because imo its fun to spam at someone with double scavs on it can be really fun but it isnt the best competetive pvp weapon. i just wanted to mention that because some people might not want to use it due to its ranking but no hate i understand why its so low. mainly a meme weapon. : )
For me I'll always keep my Retold Tale with quickdraw + snapshot and a handling masterwork. I even put the bugged Adept Range mod onto it if that does anything!
Late comment but in case someone hasn’t said it yet “Deicide” is pronounced (Day-Ih-Side) which means killing a god. It’s in the same family of words as homocide and all of those.
They just all suck outside of like 2 feet, only ever resulting in shields and half their health going. I hate shotguns. I get killed from so far by then, yet closer, I rarely ever get kills. They suck.
I thought it was a little strange how you rated xeno on how easy it was to get a good roll instead of rating it like the others, based on how the "perfect" roll plays. Honestly, it's not like it's s tier anyway, but it's a strange difference in how you guys rated them.
The perk pool played a roll in all of them, not just Xeno, but it has the combination of being a poor shotgun relative to the others PLUS the absolute worst perk pool manageability I've ever seen so it's truly not even worth a person going for (IMO)

I know xeno isn't top tier or anything, but when I was checking it out, I landed a corkscrew/accurized/hipfire grip/killing wind roll that was incredibly consistent in pvp. Obviously that was just my experience at the time, and in the end I went back to felwinters for that extra meter, so I get it. Not high tier, but def better than the wishbringer lol. Imo that shotty is straight garbage.

Nice List, but weird ranking with the Retold Tale at A- and Felwinters at A+. Ironworker has done a video and Retold Tale good roll cant even compete at the longer ranges. You need the less range choke R.Tale god roll to compete with Felwinters, and it will still lose.
At very far ranges yep you’re correct, but at closer ranges, felwinters will secure the kill SO much more often than a precision it’s not even close (unfortunately). I’ve done over 500 tests on this matter alone and the damage per pellet is just too crucial, which even the devs confirmed last week. Hopefully they do something about it though!

Gotta disagree with CQC. For me, that thing is S-Tier. I have a Full choke, Accurized, Slideshot, Snapshot roll, with handling MW. It's the most consistent shotgun I have imo. Especially on Hunter. Astral Horizon on the other hand, is garbage. It never performs well for me. Maybe it's the perks. Maybe it's the weird way it looks when aiming, idk. All I know is I want to dismantle my Adept one and never use it again. 💩
I got an astral that has:
Full choke/rifled barrel
Accurized rounds/assault mag
Slide shot
Opening shot
Stability master work
However I feel like it has no range at all and I'm barely getting 1 shot kills with this.
Ishtar app says with full choke on the range is 43. But when you talk about range at the riiswalker timestamp, I'm now guessing I'm just not consistent with this shotgun maybe?
Anyone know what hand cannon Apathettic uses, I've already looked up "Chines pistol d2" and didn't find anything

My quickdraw/snapshot, full choke,aqurized rounds and handling mw Mindbenders has emerged back from the depths of my vault again. Since the quickdraw change it's the only agressive with the perk left in the game and even in it's nerfed state it's still amazing, esp with the handling mw which used to be completely wasted. My quickdraw/slideshot one is also good but since the qd nerf I'm preferring snapshot and because it couldn't roll opening shot I feel it's the best perk in slot. It's great in everything but Trials and IB, which is most of the pvp modes in the game but is especially amazing for comp since apparently nobody kept one as I haven't seen a single other Mindbenders this season. I wonder if it was an oversight by Bungie since it can still be used in most pvp modes. Also there's no Scorn champions and because the normal nightfalls have been removed in lieu of only ordeals the Mindbendees isn't available anymore.
You think a 1/6048 chance is gonna stop me from getting that god roll xenoclast? Please I spent 3 years soft resetting for my shiny giratina in platinum with a 1/8192 to get it. It’s gonna happen one day and I’ll come back to this to prove it
I agree with all of your choices except sojuns tale one... i have quickdraw and opening shot with max range and that shit helped me 1v3 in trials many times... i'd say its higher than cold shotgun from europa, imo but great vid anyway. ima try out a few of these As and Ses :D
Retrofuturist with Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Quickdraw, Trench Barrel, and a Range Masterwork is my most consistent shotgun out of all of my "God Roll" shotties.

PVP sucks in this game. chasing random weapons, completing end game content with no reward, content creators re-issuing content that doesn't need it. i have to say with the deicide it is very fun to use because imo its fun to spam at someone with double scavs on it can be really fun but it isnt the best competetive pvp weapon. i just wanted to mention that because some people might not want to use it due to its ranking but no hate i understand why its so low. mainly a meme weapon. : )
For me I'll always keep my Retold Tale with quickdraw + snapshot and a handling masterwork. I even put the bugged Adept Range mod onto it if that does anything!
I have 92 range riiswalker with surplus and iron reach and a range masterwork ALL I NEED IS QUICK DRAW!!!
Late comment but in case someone hasn’t said it yet “Deicide” is pronounced (Day-Ih-Side) which means killing a god. It’s in the same family of words as homocide and all of those.
Lord of Wolves are S+ tier for me personally, because that thing is the most succesful shotgun I've ever use in the game with 6K Crucible kills

They just all suck outside of like 2 feet, only ever resulting in shields and half their health going. I hate shotguns. I get killed from so far by then, yet closer, I rarely ever get kills. They suck.
I thought it was a little strange how you rated xeno on how easy it was to get a good roll instead of rating it like the others, based on how the "perfect" roll plays. Honestly, it's not like it's s tier anyway, but it's a strange difference in how you guys rated them.
The perk pool played a roll in all of them, not just Xeno, but it has the combination of being a poor shotgun relative to the others PLUS the absolute worst perk pool manageability I've ever seen so it's truly not even worth a person going for (IMO)

I know xeno isn't top tier or anything, but when I was checking it out, I landed a corkscrew/accurized/hipfire grip/killing wind roll that was incredibly consistent in pvp. Obviously that was just my experience at the time, and in the end I went back to felwinters for that extra meter, so I get it. Not high tier, but def better than the wishbringer lol. Imo that shotty is straight garbage.
I hate it that energy slugs shotties doesn't get that much love from bungie for having very low aim assist :/

I’m surprised about FWL not being S, it is the most consistent shotgun in the game for 1 hit kills at 8m and isn’t as limited by pellet spread like astral and found verdict

Nice List, but weird ranking with the Retold Tale at A- and Felwinters at A+. Ironworker has done a video and Retold Tale good roll cant even compete at the longer ranges. You need the less range choke R.Tale god roll to compete with Felwinters, and it will still lose.
At very far ranges yep you’re correct, but at closer ranges, felwinters will secure the kill SO much more often than a precision it’s not even close (unfortunately). I’ve done over 500 tests on this matter alone and the damage per pellet is just too crucial, which even the devs confirmed last week. Hopefully they do something about it though!
