Pellet Precisions should get shot package. They feel so inconsistent. I'd rather two tap with lightweights. Lightweight vs Aggressive has a nice balance currently in my opinion. Of course in trials aggressives will be better but lightweights have a ton of advantages in 6s.
bungie should make big maps without any small room, corners etc so that shotguns will be almost useless on that map and if others still want to use shotty, they can just play smaller maps.
I think we don't need so many dang archetypes. Is there a need for rapid fire or precision pellet shotguns? Would anyone care if they were distributed accordingly throughout lightweights and aggressives?

I value that perk extremely highly and have made some crazy plays that I never could have without it, blasting down titan barricades and chasing down revive trains in Trials.
My most recent video is actually pretty close for the behemoth build; I now run tectonic+howl to snag 4 fragments, then my entire game is played around crystals and the chains/rime fragments. It's unfortunately pretty slow to play that way so I think I'll have more fun on striker/hammer but it's incredibly powerful still, I just can't be *as* aggressive as I used to hahaha
the Toil and Trouble that Banshee was selling last week with Range MW, Full Choke, Slideshot and Snap is actually damn nice. It made me put down Astral and CQC for the first time. Love the firing sound and sights on it.

I think a playstyle where you do the HC shot switch to Shotgun to finish off, CQC and Riiswalker get a bit better, because of their really high handling (and QD).

Um, frankly, Seventh Sheraph should at least be an A tier as you can get incredible handling (quickdraw, snapshot), its rate of fire allows to easily outshoot Flewinter’s Lie in the case of an enemy missing the first shot or executing shot+mele combo, and overall you can miss a shot and easily do a follow up shot unlike Found Verdict nor Flewinter’s...
I really love all your tier list videos! I do hope you'll make an updated tier list for shot guns this year! Other than that, keep up the great content!
Great video! Good point about the low aim assist on the FILO and Sunshot. As each new weapon is released in the same archetype, they seem to receive a higher aim assist stat. I'm guessing it's to make them appear crispier and to counter in game latency.
So I figured out what the deal is with slug gun aim assist. There are actually two categories (like sub-archetypes) of slug shotgun. The first and more common has low aim assist and high handling. This includes Sojourner's, Gunnora's, Unification, and Good Bone Structure. The other has much higher aim assist with lower handling. These are Bonechiller and Blasphemer. Check it out in light.gg or d2 gunsmith. This also explains why Heritage is so cracked. It has better handling than all the high handling types and better aim assist than all the low handling types. It also has really high base range. The perks aren't as good, but the absolutely insane base stats make up for it.
In lieu of threat detector, moving target is pretty helpful for mitigating the low AA. Sojourners tale, apart from maybe Duality with its catalyst, is b.i.s for energy slugs. To boot, it’s also hyper-easy to farm for.
Ive been using lightweights for the past few months. I like them the most. They feel so good and I have had zero performance drop off stat-wise while using them.
For first in last out, i'd like to add that if you really want to try using a slug shotty without the pain of aiming for the head, get one with opening shot and hip fire grip. so long as your hipfire circle of the shotgun has the enemy's head in it, 8 out of 10 times the game will just count it as a headshot and give you the kill. It's one of my favorite fun gun when I want to mess around.

For me I'll always keep my Retold Tale with quickdraw + snapshot and a handling masterwork. I even put the bugged Adept Range mod onto it if that does anything!
Riiswalker with slide shot+ iron reach+full choke and assault mag is godly imo. Can easily one shot from good ranges, but can follow up with a second shot very quickly if needs be

I have a fullbore, assault mag, quickdraw, opening shot, and range mw blasphemer which was very nice before the quickdraw nerf and still quite nice afterwards. I've been going for a sojourner's tale with fluted barrel, accurized/assault mag, threat detector, opening shot, and a range mw but have only gotten threat detector opening shot on one so far. The lack of a full godroll on my sojourner still feels better than my godroll blasphemer now and before the quickdraw nerf even with substantially less aim assist. I'm the kind of freak though who doesn't like chaperone because of its sights so I don't know how much my word is to be trusted

My roll is rifled barrel, accurized rounds, surplus, and iron reach. If you can clarify as to how thats not a range cap, like say iron reach caps your shotgun range at 86, that would be much appreciated.
Hmm that seems odd. There’s definitely no range cap like the one you’re mentioning - can you check out d2gunsmith.com and compare your 2 rolls? They should help show the true range differences. Some barrels add range.

My quickdraw/snapshot, full choke, aqurized rounds and handling mw Mindbenders has emerged back from the depths of my vault again. Since the quickdraw change it's the only agressive with the perk left in the game and even in it's nerfed state it's still amazing, esp with the handling mw which used to be completely wasted. My quickdraw/slideshot one is also good but since the qd nerf I'm preferring snapshot and because it couldn't roll opening shot I feel it's the best perk in slot. It's great in everything but Trials and IB, which is most of the pvp modes in the game but is especially amazing for comp since apparently nobody kept one as I haven't seen a single other Mindbenders this season. I wonder if it was an oversight by Bungie since it can still be used in most pvp modes. Also there's no Scorn champions and because the normal nightfalls have been removed in lieu of only ordeals the Mindbendees isn't available anymore.
I have a Retold Tale with Full choke + Accurized rounds + Snapshot sights + Quickdraw and a handling masterwork. I love it, even though I prefer to use snipers.
how would you rank the Python? I've been looking for a new interesting shotgun that isn't Felwinters, Riiswalker, or Duality while also looking for that nice thin look that a few other shotguns like the Mindbenders ambition has(I don't have one RIP) and I'm thinking of getting the Python from the kiosk once I get another 10,000 or so glimmer
It's a good feeling shotgun and if you're really close, it actually kills surprisingly reliably. The main problem is that it just doesn't have very good range.
@@eggsdee9407 oh yea definitely its range is its biggest flaw, but I use bottom tree striker with one-two punch on Python so I find a ton of synergy and success with it.
Tough to say. I *really* like assault mag cause of the 10RPM on an already decently fast firing shotgun for sure, just wish that roll had range MW instead. Honestly though J you can’t go wrong with either. Go with your gut. I think the (18?) range difference will hurt you for the 2-tapping at further distances.
I got an astral that has: Full choke/rifled barrel Accurized rounds/assault mag Slide shot Opening shot Stability master work However I feel like it has no range at all and I'm barely getting 1 shot kills with this. Ishtar app says with full choke on the range is 43. But when you talk about range at the riiswalker timestamp, I'm now guessing I'm just not consistent with this shotgun maybe?
hello memer here use Mask of Bakris and 4th Horseman, did it in Iron Banner, had lots of fun do recommend if you wanna change your loadout from Found Verdict
I have the "God roll retrofurst"..rifle or barrel shroud, accurized, quick draw, snap shot range master work Feels good, but you have to play it knowing it's a 2 tap at range, which makes you weak to smgs, side arms or a good slug user Kept it just incase bungie buffs that archetype My raid shotty has snapshot w/ fluted barrel 80 handling with snap shot, might as well be quick draw
I’m surprised about FWL not being S, it is the most consistent shotgun in the game for 1 hit kills at 8m and isn’t as limited by pellet spread like astral and found verdict
I knew after the quickdraw nerf my opening shot/quickdraw(now surplus),aqurized rounds, full choke and handling mw Astral just jumped up a notch. B4 the change my mw was completely wasted since quickdraw maxed out handling anyway but now that handling mw is actually optimal. A range mw wasn't really adding any consistency to it anyway. And adept icarus just adds it right back. It's an absolute beast and if Bungie would ever make icarus an armor mod then I could put adept handling on it to make it even better.
Really well produced vid! I was wondering if threat detector on an old astral is better than surplus and would you say a Snapshot Quickdraw full choke mindbenders is s+ tier
depends what your playstyle is honestly, but yes threat detector is crazy strong within 15m of someone (wallah made a nice video on it with toil & trouble)
So I have a riiswalker with QuickDraw and swashbuckler but i want a good shotgun in the energy slot so I can use my ace or anything in the kinetic slot. What shotgun is a good replacement for that?
If you get a prophet of doom with rampage I found that it’s a beast in the crucible. I dismantled it for the one reason that I got a god roll found verdict and riiswalker. But I enjoyed it whenever I decided I didn’t wanna use astral or felwinters
Elemental Capacitor on an Astral Horizon while using Arc classes (Chaos Reach) is a sleeper. I have one with Slideshot, EC, Accurized, Range MW, and either Rifled or Corkscrew (Cork preferred) Range: 54 Handling: 87 Seriously. Try it out. I have a Retold Tale with Full choke + Accurized rounds + Snapshot sights + Quickdraw and a handling masterwork. I love it, even though I prefer to use snipers.
Also got a Found Verdict with Slidshot + Opening shot and a handling masterwork. It’s… nasty.
Castle do this for pulses/snipes/HCs!
how would you rank the Python? I've been looking for a new interesting shotgun that isn't Felwinters, Riiswalker, or Duality while also looking for that nice thin look that a few other shotguns like the Mindbenders ambition has(I don't have one RIP) and I'm thinking of getting the Python from the kiosk once I get another 10,000 or so glimmer
It is sunset
@@finlaymather5327 I know that, that just means I wont be using it in something like gambit or trails
@@finlaymather5327 otherwise I am loving it over Fel Winters
It's a good feeling shotgun and if you're really close, it actually kills surprisingly reliably. The main problem is that it just doesn't have very good range.
@@eggsdee9407 oh yea definitely its range is its biggest flaw, but I use bottom tree striker with one-two punch on Python so I find a ton of synergy and success with it.
Castle, thoughts on assault mag + handling vs accurized + range on CQC? It's +20 range on a LW vs +10 RPM and handling for ADS/stow.
I got an astral that has:
Full choke/rifled barrel
Accurized rounds/assault mag
Slide shot
Opening shot
Stability master work
However I feel like it has no range at all and I'm barely getting 1 shot kills with this.
More tier list please
But what was that cool shotgun that lit up with those symbols!? Is it good!?!?
Great stuff man!
Mindbender's Ambition from forsaken. It used to be top-tier, then it was sunset
@@skoogadoo Appreciate the answer, but I was just giving him a hard time lol
7:03 why does chaperone have a cold heart catalyst ????
Really wanna hear your opinion on Xur's FILO with Hammerforged/Assault Mag/Slideshot/Opening Shot/Stability MW!
Opening shot helps SO much - buy it for sure
4:57 how was he getting oversheild for breaking his crystals?? I dont see that as a perk or anything on my list
That is the Whisper of Rimes fragment on stasis. I highly recommend checking out some of my recent videos - I cover them in depth.
where would you rank a god roll sudden death for an arcstrider main, should i go for timelost found verdict or sudden death
I think I’d put it below the god roll found Verdict because of how insanely strong opening shot is, but man that ecap sudden death is buttery smooth
13:43 I felt that in my soul
Incredibly insightful as always. Great video!
Love the video but you forgot compass rose :(
Such a good video
Thanks!
which shotgun would i pick? shayura’s wrath
13:27 had my dying laughing
this vid was before fractalyst. what tier would you put that in?
I have the "God roll retrofurst"..rifle or barrel shroud, accurized, quick draw, snap shot range master work
Feels good, but you have to play it knowing it's a 2 tap at range, which makes you weak to smgs, side arms or a good slug user
Kept it just incase bungie buffs that archetype
My raid shotty has snapshot w/ fluted barrel 80 handling with snap shot, might as well be quick draw
I’m surprised about FWL not being S, it is the most consistent shotgun in the game for 1 hit kills at 8m and isn’t as limited by pellet spread like astral and found verdict
With it’s handling I’m not very surprised
Your videos actually slap
Thanks!
I am jealous lol
Really well produced vid! I was wondering if threat detector on an old astral is better than surplus and would you say a Snapshot Quickdraw full choke mindbenders is s+ tier
depends what your playstyle is honestly, but yes threat detector is crazy strong within 15m of someone (wallah made a nice video on it with toil & trouble)
So I have a riiswalker with QuickDraw and swashbuckler but i want a good shotgun in the energy slot so I can use my ace or anything in the kinetic slot. What shotgun is a good replacement for that?
If warlock - felwinters
If other - found verdict god roll, otherwise CQC
@@CastleContent Thanks! I am a warlock BTW
If you get a prophet of doom with rampage I found that it’s a beast in the crucible. I dismantled it for the one reason that I got a god roll found verdict and riiswalker. But I enjoyed it whenever I decided I didn’t wanna use astral or felwinters
I got a perfect retrofuturist but I just can’t get over the sights on it, I miss so much with those sights compared to other shottys
Same
What hand cannon was that with the duality on the moon map
Any suggestions for sidearm
So castle, are the perks in the bottom right your personal rolls or your recommended god rolls?
Yeah, ultimately there are MANY good rolls and I can’t show them all for 20+ shotguns haha but I tried to show what my fav roll would be
Elemental Capacitor on an Astral Horizon while using Arc classes (Chaos Reach) is a sleeper. I have one with Slideshot, EC, Accurized, Range MW, and either Rifled or Corkscrew (Cork preferred)
Range: 54
Handling: 87
Seriously. Try it out. It's pretty much quickdraw all the time with a Dexterity mod. Yes, I am losing out on Opening Shot here, but honestly that handling just feels too incredible to not consider.
The xenoclast have many roll but i got a 4/5 Godroll fullchoke, accurieced ,slideshot ,killing wind and a stability masterwork
