And in my area(Philadelphia Central Jersey) our local ABC affiliate WFIL TV was only five days away from changing its call letters to it current WPVI TV and Cap Cities assuming ownership of Channel 6. Channel 6 was in its last 5 days of Triangle Publications Triangle stations ownership.
CBS would a year and half later return to game shows Jokers Wild Gambit and The Price is Right. About 3 years later, most soaps would retire organ music in favor of prerecorded orchestral themes( although The Edge of Night and a few others would switch to synthesizer background music).
And there were even things more things on during these hours like Hazel, Glynis (an obscure 1963 show with Glynis Johns), My Three Sons, Donna Reed, Father Knows Best, Pete and Gladys, and the Patty Duke Show. (Glynis Johns is still with us at age 93 it appears as of the date of this comment, Sept 9, 2017.) Thanks for yet another nice time capsule.
I do remember when those shows shared the network weekday morning line-up, mostly in the 1960s. The Glynis Johns show stood out thanks to her great British-sounding accent. That's basically all I can remember of the show when it was on in primetime.
My guess is the beginning is on channel 5. I was in NYC and was 4. I do remember. Didn't realize how 60's this sounds. I have recollection of 71' but can see how things would change in the next couple of years. Funny how they were still using the Hammond Organ on the Soap Intros
Charles, thank you for uploading this schedule and for sharing this great blast from the past! I appreciate you responding too. I had just assumed that maybe at the time of this schedule, certain NBC affiliates were not carrying Somerset. I apologize if my comment seemed like a criticism. 😊😊😊👍😊
No problem--so glad you enjoyed this clip. Little could I have realized when I recorded this nearly 50 years ago that something would come along like the Internet and UA-cam to be able to allow me to share these recorded memories.
Never heard this one before, but this was from about 1971. And also, the Screen Gems "S From Hell" logo at 3:24 made a surprise appearance on this particular audio piece with the "Porky's Drum" at 1:44 which was distorted, along with shows that I don't know at the time since I wasn't born. The audio wasn't that great overall. It was recorded on either an audio cassette or a reel-to-reel tape.
i like TV audio tracks have couple myself did u do anymore like this? if so put them up btw u heard of PHIL GRIES OF ARCHIVAL TV AUDIO he did it for years and he is the best
Good golly, you're are right--seems Pixar used the long-ago "Captain Kangaroo Treasure House" theme for this 1988 film short. I know that it originally was used first on a popular British children's recording in the 1950s. The tune by Edward White was called "Puffin' Billy" recorded by the Melodi Light Orchestra in 1952 and about a train in the Isle of Wight in Great Britain. It was used by a children's radio show on the BBC called "Children's Favourites" from 1952 to 1966. It was used by Captain Kangaroo in the U.S. from 1955-1974, when the Captain adopted a new theme.
Charles--I'm enjoying your channel immensely--thank you for sharing your archives!
The opening is "Captain Kangaroo." I remember well the theme.
Thank you for posting this time capsule. You have a VERY rare audio clip (all glorious 54 seconds of it) of 'Captain Kangaroo'.
Hal Linden was the announcer for the "Pepsi" commercial.
Very Kool. Hope u have more. Thanks Charles..
This is very interesting to me. I was only a week old at this point.

Amazing how few game shows were on then

A Palisades Amusement Park ad...1971 would be its final season.
Charles my comment below pertained to your different upload from Daytime 1973. I commented here by mistake. I apologize 👍
Anyone here remember the weird pica umbrella commercial?

No NBC Game Shows?!!!
0:15 - Is that music from Tin Toy (1988; Pixar)?

What is the part where let's Make a Deal is included?
4:35 Jerry Scoggins (Beverly Hillbillies Theme) sounds like he's on downers.
Sounds like a 45rpm record running at about 44.
What is the TV theme song at 3:32?
"The Donna Reed Show." ua-cam.com/video/3QGi9XR7cBQ/v-deo.html
Thanks. Knew I recognized it!
