I've never struggled for damage against this boss, but the CONSTANT stagger from the lava around it drives me fucking insane so I always use the spear. Plus it looks dope af.

Previously on elden ring.
After giving up the sword that made him blind to the light Afro discovers a new darkness...something that would be able to lend him the power he craved while also getting the challenge he wants. After becoming An uchiha mixed with some blood magic. He takes his black flames and does some exploring. While most of it is cut off he does show the greatness of his new build. Fighting off dangerous enemies as he continued his assassination list. Coming up against the most fearsome foe.

After getting whipped harder than my dad whipped me Afro continues his journey. Will Afro meet new maidens in this volcano manor? Will he be able to finish that rat bastard patches off? And what awaits him as he finishes the last of the assassination list...? Next time on.

His strategy for the first phase worked surprisingly well, I imagine the devs didn't think anyone would be insane enough to fight Rykard full melee
I watched my friend use purely blaidd's weapon to kill rykard and he did it just as easy as with the weapon you're *supposed* to use haha
First time I went in, I did phase 1 with the claws. Its a cool fight but the lance make it the easiest in the game
Now that I watched this video I felt kinda dumb but I went in full melee. I might have been overpowered
I actually got so mad at this boss that I did the most noobish shit ever. I’m full melee build and died so much because I couldn’t get close to him due to the lava. Then I said fuck it and fought him in the lava, after some attempts i finally got him. I was so happy until I realized there is a second phase. At that point I was like this is the most unfair and stupid fight ever. It’s not even fun. Then I decided to use that weapon. And saw it’s possibilities. At that point I had become so twisted and tilted that I not only leveled up that weapon to +9, but also summond my mimic with the weapon equipped. I also leveled my mimic to +9. And now I’m literally pegging Rykard with not 1, but 2 +9 spear. While my mimic is taking all the hits, I’m im the back laughing maniacally while stuffing that weapon so far up that snake ass. And my justification? “The fight is stupidly unfair anyways, so no one can complain if I play unfair too now can they?”
for those interested there IS another whip with bleed. It's carried by the fat fire prelates in the frozen north. You do have to farm for it. Also added bloodhound step and blood affinity to both whips, and swapped out for ronin armor to get get a light load. The longer dodge, i frame window, and the stamina useage reduction is a LOT of fun.

Afro the frostbite negates your arcane scaling with the whips. I’d recommend using occult (makes arcane scale into physical damage) so that your weapons still scale with your arcane stat
The whips never scaled with arcane to begin with tbf, but yeah it would be better to do Blood or Occult since he seems to be doing high arcane.

The whips do much more damage scaled on just Dex or Dex and Str; Frostbite is essentially a second blood loss, and you can hit your opponent with any fire related attack (I use heat wave pots) to completely reset frostbite for back to back frostbite and bleed.
Ever since Demon Souls, there is one boss that has to be defeated with a certain ranged weapon which is also useless for any other boss/enemy.
Really? I only remember that mechanic in DS3 after that but it was a long time ago I could be forgetting.
to be fair the gimmick spear has a nice running strong attack thats very good for rollcatching in pvp

The fact that you can beat the serpent's first phase without using the weapon came back to bite me in the butt. I beat it using my normal build several times but couldnt land any hits on Rykard and by that point I'd forgotten I even picked up the serpent slayer spear. Eventually I had to google how to beat him because I could tell I was doing something wrong but I couldnt figure out what.

For a mage build, I easily found this to be my favorite boss. It's really hard to use comet azure or meteors of astel so constantly running around the arena throwing rock sling at him was definitely a fun and epic experience.

Infuse the whips with Blood so they can take advantage of your arcane stat, you'll see the difference quickly
Also; if you do keep using frostbite or use it in the future, you can reset the status with a firebomb, or any fire damage, in order to quickly reapply it for big damage.
Afro usually uses his own music but even he realized 2nd phase boss music of rykaard is 🔥🔥

Glad to say this fight took me about 5 hrs to fight without seeing afros fight. After seeing Afro beat him with such ease it gave me the will to beat Rykard in 30 minutes. Thank you SIFU
I’d say this is my favorite boss. Obviously not too challenging, but everything about it was so epic. Such a gross, awesome monster design in an awesome arena. Great vid as always, Afro 👍🏽

When you do use his soul make sure to get his sword it's one of the most damaging weapons and possibly one of the best weapons in elden ring
This is exactly what I needed I’m on the same boss. I can deal with the 1st phase but I struggle with the 2nd phase.
U can beat phase 2 somewhat easily if u get him in a stun lock using the left trigger attack with the serpent spear

Try upgrading your serpent hunter spear to at least +7. Trivializes the encounter.

I got these 2 whips on accident, first was from the assassination's quest, but the other i got because i accidentally hit the guy in the town under the raya lucaria academy, both drop the same whips, but different armor sets.
Just incase anyone wanted to get the 2 whips without having a friend drop it. :)

@@virajphadtare4816 Hey, we dunno if he respecced into INT or not. It's Afro's choice to make - not ours. And I gotta admit, Frost + Bleed is a pretty bonkers combo (though he could get the Frost through Dragon Farm if he's still specced into ARC).

You can actually get two Hoslow’s petal whips in one playthrough. There was a guy at the round table hold named Diallos Hoslow whose questline leads him to Liurnia and then the volcano manor and then Jarburg. That guy is the brother of Juno Hoslow, who Afrosenju fought in the previous video. Both Diallos and Juno drop one petal whip. I guess Juno refused to join the volcano manor outright while Diallos joined but then had a change of heart.
