    Already looking good Eric. As you might know by now I love hearing you explain the fundamentals. By the way my wife always makes the decisions on what is outset and what is inset. She's just better at that than I am. Thanks for your time!

    Howdy Eric....
    Yes, it's me again, haha. I've got your videos playing on my phone while I work, no specific order, just what ever plays next while I work.
    I am finishing up my 4 piece piece plaque for my daughter (Texas Army National Guard), am installing the chainlink now.
    "Stars"....Man...I am not good at those at all. Even though I'm carving from an image transfer, my stars end up lop sided.
    Perhaps I'm overly a perfectionist, but in watching you do it...zip zap zabang, it's done. But I noticed your stars are not "perfect" either.
    As I spoke with Ryan in one of my last comments on another video...I was using bits the diameter of .0070 and .0235 for the detail of my plaques, lettering and "stars".
    These are my 1st signs/plaques I've done. Am I being my own worst critic? My wife says it looks great. But I see it and I'm like, no it ain't. Are you blind. That "star" is crooked. My lettering isn't straight.
    You "Eric" just wisp through it but you're not in the lines either and your stars are not symmetrical. Please pardon my words. I am not bashing. I'm just wondering, when it comes to this stuff, am I just overly critical of detail?
    Would and/or do "customers" notice those flaws or is it just me?

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  Рік тому +1

      Well, don't forget that dad's been carving for 50 years, so naturally he's gonna be faster. Also, a 10 minutes video usually takes several hours to make. So, don't be too hard on yourself, buddy! We're always our own worst critics.
      Also, the fact that your lines aren't "machine" perfect, shows that it is handmade. Each one will be a little different.
      Just have fun with it, man. If you get too hard on yourself, it stops being fun, and you won't want to do it anymore. Hope this helps, Mike.

    To me, it looks like the head should go in the top, right corner of the pattern and then it would look like a Patriotic Eagle or Chicken...lol. It looks like legs at the bottom or does it? Am I crazy or does that look like the body of an Eagle or Chicken? Thanks Eric.....love the pattern!

    I actually did a sign for The Satanic Temple. They wanted "In Satan We Trust" and I said, "What the hell, I'll do it!" It was good money.
