  • Revival of a VERY OLD guitar...
Sören Alexander Golz from Germany plays the famous 2nd movement of the "Sonatina" by Federico Moreno Torroba.
The guitar was made by Salvador Ibanez around 1890 in Valencia, Spain. It is a journey through time playing such an old instrument. It is a unique world of sound.

Extremely good rendition and a lovely tone from the player and a battered old Ibanez. Over the years I've had a few of those Ibanez and other Valencian guitars on my workbench.

Wow, this is the most beautiful rendition I have ever heard of this piece. The tempo is perfect , not rushed. You let the harmonies expand and linger , just lovely ! Bravo sir

Sören, what should I say? No words required. There's nothing Moreno Torroba could ask for because left out in your playing. There's no guitar old or young enough you couldn't bring to singing beautifully. If musical perfecting was possible, with your playing here you'd achieved it! Bravo!!!

Beautifully played with care & ease despite the lamentable condition of the guitar which the player had chosen to give the music an expressive life. Bravo! I wonder if you strung it with gut strings and tuned to Verdi's A 432 hz.

The last 5 seconds of your playing sound pretty much identical to that of Andy Segovia. I think the aged wood of the instrument and your careful plucking of the strings help in recreating it. I've heard the circa 1900 S Ibanez guitar played by other people but they're unable to produce that particular sonority.
