Unfortunately from aids. His legacy has been tainted because he continued to sleep around and wouldn't let those he was living with know. As such the first Badlands album has been permanently shelved which is sad because it's an epic album. Heard this on an Eddie Trunk show.
I can just picture my eyes bugging out , as soon as Ray starts singing So much power, clean and the improvised riff and runs , fucking awesome Replacement for Ronnie
Robert, the short answer is less than a year. Ray was brought in during the Seventh Star tour in 1986 to replace Glenn Hughes who had sustained sinus and throat injuries after a fist fight. Ray finished the tour and went on to record The Eternal Idol. But due to mismanagement and other issues within the band, Ray and Sabbath's drummer at the time, Eric Singer, quit the band. Tony Martin was brought in and the band re-recorded The Eternal Idol with Glenn's voice. However, you can find Ray's Eternal Idol recordings in the black market.
sroinujacob, you have everything correct except for the part about "The Eternal Idol" being re-recorded with Glenn's voice. It was re-recorded with Tony Martin's voice.

He died young RIP what a singer
One of the very best.
The solos on 'Die Young' was so great during this tour. Tony played so fast and sometimes extended it a bit.

That's right, May 12th 1959, New York City.
Dave spitz ended up becoming a lawyer making a lot more money on the interim.
Wonder if he kept "The Beast" as his lawyer title too.
Dave "The Beast" Spitz, Esquire would look great on a business card.
how long was Ray on tour with Sabbath? why do you think he left?
