  • In this video I conduct a review of the red wing Irish setter boots. And the end of the video I do a tuff toe tutorial. Red wing makes very comfortable work boots. As a carpenter who is on his feet all day that is very important to me. Red wing provides a 6-month warranty for these boots. Overall, they are good quality boots and I highly recommend them.

    I little tip when applying Tough Toe protection. If you don’t like the glossy finish after about 15 min just go over the hole area with your hand to give it a matte finish. There is a couple videos that show you how to do it, but it’s really simple once it starts to set up.

    I have several pairs of them.
    A pair for hunting a pair for going out.
    And two pairs for work.
    The ones I use for work are both over 2 years old. I had a Redwing store replace the soles on both pairs. With Vibram lug soles. It made a really good boot a great boot.
    I clean them and use leather treatment on them it keeps them alive.

    I too am in the PNW, Washington. Would you say these boots are good all year round? Mainly, are they tolerable in the summer and warm in the winter. Are they to slick on snow/ice or usable?
    Also, do they run true to size or are they like some of the other similar top brands that run around about half a size larger?

    • @unscriptedwithantonio
      @unscriptedwithantonio  5 місяців тому

      I actually just bought a new pair. So I'm going to go over the old ones. And talk about the new pair. But to cut to chase. They are great for all seasons, and they feel great on your feet.

      Great video btw I like these types of reviews . Im also a carpenter and do a lot of concrete form work, have to deal with rebar, etc…. I like knowing that you’ve put them to the test and you find them comfortable. I do the same thing with tough toe. Its definitely a boot saver. I ordered the ST version of the wingshooters. I like to have a pair of waterproof boots for winter but I was a little worried when you said they were just water resistant. I read up on the ST version of that boot and it’s supposed to have a waterproof membrane in the boot. Either way waterproof boots only stay waterproof while the waterproof liner doesnt get a hole in it. It usually only works well for about 8 months for me.

    • @unscriptedwithantonio
      @unscriptedwithantonio  Рік тому

      @BurritoSupreme_ Because i live in Oregon. Waterproofing only goes so far. Especially when you're doing siding. There is nowhere to avoid the rain. All you can do is embrace the suck. I agree with having a dry pair in your rig, though. Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I appreciate it.
