Bad Ass Preston, you brought them back from the dead.
Thanks Steve. I appreciate it
you done nothing ....u just ditch all viewers
Bedo! Fancy meeting you here!
It's so good to see something restored, especially in today's day and age where everything is discarded.
El
Dude... You took a pair of shoes that were ready for the junk pile and turned them into an almost new pair! Great work.
Thank you Michael I appreciate that. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel
I cannot agree with this 1 by you saying that this is an improvement??? No my friend this is a complete make over, from where those shoes were , this is superb craftmanship and patience. cheers!!!!
A craftsman is his own worst critic. That strive for perfection is the fuel that brings a man to his upper level of performance. Those really turned out great. Those shoes can wear their battle scars with pride. I'd wear those with pride. Infact, if they are a 15D, I'd buy 'em and wear 'em with pride.
Wow a 15 D? At least Allen Edmonds makes shoes that big. Thanks for watching and commenting
Also, have a size 14UK/size 15US, and it's always a challenge.
I find Japanese ppl. are really into their craft and perfecting. I’m glad to see that attitude as yours, happening more in the US. Meaning I’ve always looked to the Japanese for fashion and how serious they are. When I’m that way and part Japanese , ppl. think I’m fussy and annoying.
I watch jakaneswbtv and everything they do, they try to do with a very high standard. Like Ramen master will keep perfecting after 20-30 years and it’s still not right.
I think you went a little hard on yourself. They are as perfect as the can be coming from that condition. Amazing job👍🏽
Exactly. Literally everyone else, inuding me, would have consider those a lost cause. Very surprising they cleaned up that well tbh.
I really appreciate that it makes me feel great to know others appreciated the video. Thanks for watching
Preston. Don't thrash yourself chap. Perfection is overrated and does not exist in the real world.
It's called inverse psychology... but it's ok cause humility is the right base attitude anyways and he didn't overdo it :)

Awesome restoration. Those shoes are definitely from a person who owned a manual car with a very hard clutch......probably a sports car, old porshes etc are known for them. Left shoe has a worn out patch in the middle from the clutch pedal and the right has a accelerate/brake pedal marking.
What a cool insight. Thank you for sharing that it makes a lot of sense
You sure? I'm thinking skateboard.
I used to run the shoe department at the Brooks Brothers flagship. We saw this all the time and the cause was getting in/out of the car and pivoting on the ball of the foot on the pavement to open/close and lock the door.
Excellent observation
high quality comment
Considering that those shoes were on the fast track to a landfill, you did an excellent job!
You are an artist. Never seen anyone restore worn-out leather shoe in even more pristine condition than the shoe might have originally come in. Awesome job 👌
Whilst restoring these shoes, you have displayed grit, determination and patience, and it is for this reason that all of the UK adores you.
Fantastic work my friend
I think they are absolutely amazing. I was brought up to look after my shoes and although I only have six pairs, two of them are are 40yrs old. The rest are around 30yrs.
Cuidadoso de verdad. Un saludo desde el norte de España.
They look so good! Great job. Restoring shoes is such a cool and, dare I say, almost therapeutic to watch, as the form and colour comes back to the shoe.
Beautiful!!! In this is a sign for all of us if he can restore a pair of run down shoes 👞 as adults we need to put our egos aside and restore our relationships with our parents and family and it can be just like new on this journey of life!!! Doing certain trades like this helps your mental well-being better than most therapist 🙂 amazing work 👏
These shoes look almost as good as new, if not better. Keeping in view what you had to begin with, this job wasnt too bad at all. Id give it a 11 out of 10. Outstanding work❤
So heart warming to see the shoes being given second chance to life. Incredible.
Humbleness and humility brother, something that most men lack nowadays. Even though they came out good you look to improve, that’s something that today’s generation of “everyone gets a trophy” will never understand.
I think you under credit yourself for your talents. These look better than any high Street shoe I've seen. They've got real depth and character. Never been in a position to have a pair of shoes like these myself. You've given them a new life and many happy years of wearing. Once again a great video. Keep up the good work. From the UK 🇬🇧
Once again you delivered a classy inspirational video...to restore what most would throw away to something most could only hope to own speaks about your skill and dedication to a craft that is so underrated...keep the videos coming Preston...they are definitely worth watching...love to you and your family from Pinetown, South Africa
I don’t know how you turned these Beat up
soccer cleats to an amazing piece of art great job !💪👍💪👍💪
The caring and craftsmanship is amazing!!!!
Liked how you changed it up, my wife and I enjoy watching your videos. Absolutely stunning and elegant. This is better than watching anything that's on Television now-a-days. Thank you sir.
Thank you Homero. I’m glad you and your wife enjoy watching the videos. Thank you for the support and I’ll see you next time
I wasn't prepared for how truly amazing those shoes turned out... You have a phenomenonal talent that you should be very proud of. 👏
Gorgeous work. A total transformation. I would happily wear these with pride.
Allen Edmonds is looking for a few good men! You are obviously one of them!
Complete respect and awe!!! I am a business man who spends a lot of money on my shoes and I would love to wear those. What a true talent! Keep crushing it!!
Wow those things turned out amazing! Nice work Preston. Your videos are so inspiring for newer shoe hobbyists on a budget, such as myself.
I have no idea how I got here but that was an amazing restoration! Holy talent
I had a pair of Bass casuals with a pretty bad cut and missing piece (flap). Watched your technigue and attempted to repair them. They came out awesome. I started wearing them again.
Thank you man. Great channel
Awesome video and restoration! When it comes to airbrushing I recommend you do away with the compressor and start using a flat-bottomed, aluminum scuba tank filled with CO2, which is dry, so no water trap is required. You just install a pressure regulator and gauge, that can be purchased from companies that sell beer making equipment and your all set. There are several sites on the internet that can walk you through the setup. When you need to fill the tank, just take it to a local fire extinguisher refill business and they’ll hook you right up. I also love the fact that it’s quiet and never wears out. You just have to periodically get the fire extinguisher firm to retest the tank. Cheers!
Amazed as always! Been missing your stuff! Glad to see you back in the mix!
You should hold a PHD in shoe shining. Your skills are unmatched. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I respect how hard you strived for perfection. It’s only going to make the final product next round that much better.
The first time I watched this video, I interpreted the sigh you gave when you first saw the shoe as "Oh no, this is horrible...".
The second time I watched this video, I figured it was a sigh of "Oh no, these shoes *are* in bad shape, I just can't wait to show people how I restore these but I have to act like I'm not totally excited about this project first!" ;-)
The whole process seems similar to my wife doing her makeup. Taking hours of filling the cracks. But wow what a job! Can't imagine how someone can abuse a pair of shoes that bad ..
I totally understand what you mean
I hope she never sees this. 😂😂😂
@@rpc717 I'm gonna tell her
So you are comparing your wifes face to worn out leather... I hope you have a couch you can sleep on. LOL.
I just want to know what he did to his wife
Really top-notch work. Looking forward to more restoration videos.
He’s back ladies and gentleman!
Always very impressed with your work Preston, and in fact with your personal warmth while explaining your process. Great job.
Love the video and the work you do. Not sure what you thought you could have done better. Amazing transformation and a good demonstration of what you can do to a pair of shoes.
Hey Joseph, there was a small Knicks and gashes I couldn’t cover completely
You are the Master of the Shoes, hopefully one day I will know you and show you my work, still not so impressive but getting better. Regards
Holy cow! The transformation is incredible! Bravo!
Great job on the two-tone. Back in the Marines I learned to use a lighter and spit with a T-shirt to shine shoes and boots, always had the best shoes during inspection. First thing we learned was to break down the polish and dye the shoe before building up the polish again. Lighter worked on hat bills too, trick is to get close enough to melt the polish but not too close and build up.
When I have a visually dry pair, I'm always afraid of getting a crack like that. So I bought a cheap leather lotion and add it after a quick wash with saddle soap. I let it dry about half way then apply the lotion. I let that sink in overnight, buff it, then let it sit for another day or so. Then strip it and begin the regular dye process that I learned from watch you. My theory is that it gets some moisture under the surface. Enough so the it doesn't crack when you work on it. Hope that helps.
That’s actually a good idea Richard thanks for sharing
Phantastic work ! If it wasn‘t too far I would send my shoes to you.
I've been thinking about doing dress shoe restorations for prom season. These videos are a big help
you did a fantastic job Preston. Like always, i enjoy your work and your mirror shine skills are out of this world man. Perfect.
You’ve done it again!!! ✨🤩👞 so proud of you. I love you ❤️
Those look amazing!
By the way am KC from Iraq .Baghdad am following you always one by one I like it a lot …
You did an amazing job given the state of the shoes when you received them. You literally brought them back to life!
So basically if there isn't a hole on the uppers, a leather shoe can be brought back to life, or actually near perfection. Because seeing the state of them prior to this job, it looks like they were beyond repair. Amazing job.
Great job as always Sir! Miracle worker, you are. Wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a brand new pair though. However I am glad to see one less pair for the land fill.
Yes, sometimes buying a new pair of shoes is much more cost-effective. This video was just a showcase what can be done for sentimental pairs and such
It all depends on the cost of the shoe vs replacement. If the original is some glued together fast fashion garbage construction, then keep buying in at the $30 to $100 price range. If the shoe is several hundred or thousand $ to begin with, the cost of about $100 for a resole is clearly the better option.
Yes the uppers are a bit knocked about on these but nothing that can't be saved.
Now that's what a refurbishment and repair looks like! From 'walking dead' to living large--your skills are no joke.
Those came out beautiful! You can’t beat the burnished dark burgundy IMHO. Great job!
I wonder if you showed yourself getting a burger just so you can use the clip... This is some gourmet sh't
Ha ha John really recommended Nessi Burger so I really had to try it but since I already was getting one I figured I’d put the scene in
I think your part of the job went swimmingly! I did notice that the cobbler did not hit the original holes on the welt. Was there a reason for that? I know they typically try to hit those holes when they can, so I assume there is probably a reason. I've seen so many of these types of videos, my eyes scan for the details!! lol. Thanks for sharing another great transformation, Preston!!
It was a new sole so how could there be an originial welt from before? I think you are confusing it with the ornament?
Thanks as always for a wonderful video and the tip for Tim’s Shoe repair. John is only a few miles from me, I’ll be visiting him with my AE Strands.
This is the first video that I have watched and I am completely amazed at the quality of finish on the final product. Very nice job sir
Nice video, I would love to see more of these where you try to fix really messed up shoes there best you can.
One question though, how did you fix the creasing and straighten out the leather on the upper?
Cheers
I recommend a really good shoe tree but in the end creases are normal and our unavoidable. Thanks for watching
@@TheElegantOxford Preston i agree with this guy. do more extreme restoration videos. the end might not have looked as nice as you wanted but you also started with shoes in much worse condition then you normally do.
you can restore them and give them away.
Preston you are the man those shoes are a work of art so what if there's a nick here and there they are totally transformed from garbage to brand new shoes...Preston did you like the job Steve did on my brown shoes with the spade sole they are kick ass don't you agree
Hey Oscar, do you know I’m jealous of those shoes! Steve did an amazing job
@@TheElegantOxford sorry buddy can't have them. I saw the ones Steve did for that put the bug in my ear..I'm going there in person to pick them up. And probably leave another pair for a different creation . I love your channel you do beautiful work..I posted some some of my mirror shine on enthusiasts..ck them out. Keep up the excellent work
Simply amazing. Great job!
Outstanding. Love the colour and finish.
Wow, it’s the first time I get to be the first comment ever in anything.
Sorry, no
Who actually wears out a pair of dress shoes 🤔
Beautiful work. The shoes look elegant and great.
Yeeeeeeah. They look way better than the new pair. I used to watch Trent and Heath but they use unavoidable commercials that's impossible to skip. So I find channels that doesn't have them.
Lol wow you do talk a lot lol
yes the sort of video that should be without music or talking
I like your videos. But you keep saying you're not satisfied with them. And that kind of turns me off you do a great job. You need to have more confidence in yourself.
So glad to see you post a video!!! You are my biggest shoe shine inspiration!!!
I appreciate that Michael. Keep up the good work and I’ll see you next time
Wow , just fucking wow . Such a privilege to watch a true artist share his craft !! 👏
Jon UK
Just WOW! Congrats on your perfect job!
Very Elegant indeed, Oxford. Outstanding in fact
I’m with everyone disagreeing with any negativity against the upper part of these shoes, you did a phenomenal job and I can’t see why anyone would go to anyone else for their shoe miracles.
great stuff. I'm not really i to fancy shoes but your tricks have helped me repair a couple pairs of boots. Thanks!
This shoe is almost perfect, thanks to ur transformation ❤
GREAT JOB~~~~~from a Shoeman of 47 years!~
What you have done is quite remarkable..such a pleasure to watch
Làm một đôi giày mới ,còn dễ làm hơn là sửa một đôi giày cũ . Quả là tuyệt vời .Xin chúc mừng Bạn !. Từ Việt Nam.
Incredible job, mate. Simply stunning!
Yes before those shoes looked similar to what I have seen a bit on public transport. They never clean their shoes or care for them in any way. No shoe trees either. Glad you saved them!
The shoes look like new. Excellent job. I wasn’t sure you could pull it off, but you did!
A new comer enjoying the channel. San Diego represent! Yep, glad Nessie Burger survived the loss of their previous little shack. 🙂
I do commercial restoration and we run into holes and rounded edges sometimes that requires some bondo or jb weld. I found a better method by using a rubber scraper or knife sold they sold in the bondo section at the car parts place. Something flexible. If we spent a little more time on the patching/filling/spreading it better then we would save time sanding and the product seem to come out a bit better instead of getting too much on it to begin with. I personally thought these shoes came out nice! Thought I would throw that tip out there if it helps at all.
No dought this is very good video. And you have a skill and good knowledge.
Those are amazing now wow that’s incredible they look brand new! Great work!
This is still one of my favorite videos on YT to watch. idk why but it really sit well with me!
Bravo! Simply genius!
It’s Sunday Morning and I’m just laying on my couch watching this with great interest. I own quite a few leather shoes myself and I’ve never seen so many things in this video to repair and restore the shoe.
Amazing amazing work, beautiful as always
Am i the only one who also loves them in their wizened state? Those shoes have a lifetime of journeys in them, a most excellent adventurous long life it seems. ❤ 👞
Those look amazing. You really brought them back from the dead!
This looks like magic!!!! I would have never believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes!!!! Great Job!!!!
Amazing result as always.
"Abused?" The first words out of my mouth were, "Oh my God, they're RUINED!"
Awesome restoration!
Wow! What a huge improvement 👏🏿
Watched this and instantly started following! Got to go in with the work shoes now, this is so satisfying
Goodness the color you achieved is absolutely gorgeous on these shoes . You are a very talented artisan.
That's incredible craftmanship.
Thank you for sharing.
They look absolutely amazing! Almost hard to believe that it's the same shoes. Great job as always, keep it up! 👞
Thanks for a beautiful repair and shine. Indicative of a military spit shine.
They look absolutely amazing 😮
