My 4 year old son has been waiting all afternoon for this video. He was very excited when I let him stay up to watch it! Watching your show is one of those special things we do together. Thanks for another incredible show Devin! 😊 Always a pleasure!
I appreciate the background you give on your videos. You don't cover just abandoned places, you give us as much history behind them as possible. Thank you!
Here you are, over one hundred years later, remembering those lost in the avalanche. This was a sad, yet poignant explore. Thank you for sharing this with us. Just in case there are no videos till then.....Happy Holidays to You and Yours. ❤❤
This is an interesting piece of American history. Hats off to the railway builders back in those days. It must have been extremely difficult to build these lines. I really appreciate how you do your research on historical places. It makes the videos that much more interesting to watch. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. Looking forward to your videos next year. Cheers from Canada :o)
Hi Devin, another channel did explore this disaster, there is an area where you saw all the rusty metal that they climbed down and saw various parts of the trains still left on the hillside with a plaque naming the adults and children that lost their lives on that fateful day. Good job showing and telling the sad story of what happened back then. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💞
@@InfamousCrimeLocations Happy new year to you and your family, I will be back with you soon, I'm still trying to get over my mom and dad's death in under a year, much love. xx❤
Devin I love your content your passion for history is contagious I love the way you tell a story you are an amazing artist always thumbs up even before I watch 😊
As a Oregonian who has traveled half the U.S I can say without a doubt that the PNW is one of the most beautiful places you will find in America. It's a shame people start fires and our politicians are idiots and don't understand proper forest management.
Hello Devin Thanks for sharing this with us Tragedy happens every where and i didn't know about this one It's ashamed that people loose their lives not knowing something is going to happen to them It's good remembering those who passed away And hearing the story Thanks for sharing Fireman 🔥🔥🔥
Another great exploration man. And the stills you took... you have a great eye! They were beautiful! Side note... you should add the "Thank You" button to your videos. Be another way for people to show some love for your work and add a little funding for your trips. I feel you more than deserve it. Take care and looking forward to your next adventure!
Thats really pretty photograph poses because the massive height of the tunnel most people only see freeway tunnels for cars and the metro trains operate outside.
That was really interesting. Beautiful photography or cinematography although I was nervous while you were in that tunnel with all the collapses. I was so relieved when you got out. Thank you very much beautiful.💜🤗🥳🇺🇸
Henry Ford didn't like museums. He thought the best way to teach history is to take an object and preserve it in its entirety so that people in the future could experience everything about it as it was. I'm inclined to agree, which is why I love these "abandoned" videos. They provide a fuller view of the past, and when I see that fuller view, in some ways, I can't help but be nostalgic for a time that I never lived in. At the same time, I'm reminded that nothing that we build here will last.
I thought you might actually visit the standing place of the village of Wellington. The tunnel was neat, but it was built 6 years after the derailment.
Come to the East coast & explore stumphouse tunnel in SC. A lot of history here. Look up the tunnel, tunnel hill. Isaqueena falls.... there's also a bunch of abandoned graves above the tunnel & remnants of the town, tunnel hill.
Awesome explore, and hearing about the background, seeing the photos, was amazing! Those stills of you guys standing in the tunnel opening looked so eerie...and magical at the same time. Loved it...look forward to the next one 😁 👍 ❤️
Great video! However, you missed the actual town of Wellington and the true location of the disaster. Wellington is by far my favorite ghost town, heading back there in a couple weeks actually to re visits and explore more. Go read the “white cascade” tells the whole story in detail. Makes going there way cooler since you can connect the dots. If you want to go back sometime and really see a lot more let me know I’ll go with ya
Cant wait for this exploration, let’s not forget the people that died in this tragic event. From accounts the death toll could be much higher due to the stowaways and people not documented. Be safe out there.
Oh jeez, what a terrible horrific news story. I wonder if you had a creepy feeling when you were filming this tour. I can just imagine how haunted that entire area is. I've seen and heard CDOT (Colorado department of transportation) on I-70 when they do avalanche mitigation, to keep the snow from burying the highway. Hearing an avalanche sounds like a true nightmare barreling down on you.
Been there and it is the most haunted place a have ever been in my life. Go into the snow shelter at night alone and you will be a believer. It is beautiful up there. But after what happened to me by my self getting dark I will never go up there again. I was so in shock I did a lot of research on that mountain because I had no idea of what had happened up there.Thank God I came across NWPA that studied paranormal things up there for years. And the guy is so foolish for walking into that tunnel for two reasons it could fall and kill you at anytime and that is where bears hang out.Good luck being up there. But you do not want to be up there at night.
I enjoyed this video. Thanks. Listen out at 10:34 & 10:36. I hear what sounds like a person moaning. Is that you or the person you are with? 14:08 - I think you mean "peace" not piece :)
I'm so embarrassed, I actually missed one of your videos! SHAME ON ME!! OOOOOH I think I remember.. I worked that morning and I think I was in the bagel store having lunch when I saw the premiere. Well I"m watching it now. :D
You should have kept going you only made it to the twin tunnels past that is the Windy point tunnel and the Windy point lookout The Windy point tunnel is a quarter-mile tunnel small claps in the center sidewall you can still walk through it not recommended but still accessible couple miles past Windy point is the old concrete snow shed which is where the avalanche took the Spokane Express and the mail train off the side about a half mile to three-quarters of a mile past that is where the town of Wellington was and then you can follow the signs down to where the Cascade tunnel is,about a half-mile into Cascade tunnel it is collapsed
GREAT WALK BUT SAD HISTORY OF WHAT HAPPEN IN 1910 THAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN, BUT ENJOY TODAY OF PRAYS WHILE YOU WALK FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE AND HEAR THE NATURE THE BIRDS SINGING.. THANKS FOR EXPLAINING EVERY THING..THE TUNNEL IS HISTORY BUT SAD 1916..THE FIRST TUNNEL LOOKS MORE ROUND THE OTHER TUNNEL WALLS ARE NOT SMOOTH..GREAT VIDEO THANKS,,..
