  • A community built for miners in the 1850s, this community housed hundreds of people over the years. Many miners came and went, but overall, the community was happy and peaceful until 2017. A nearby town purchased the land and decided that the neighborhood bridge, which was the only way in or out, was a fire hazard. The bridge was built over 100 years ago and is made out of wood, and was declared it couldn't hold the weight of a fire truck. Instead of fixing the bridge, the now broke coal town evicted all tenants after a fire eventually happened. We will be entering a majority of homes and seeing what belongings were left behind as we admire the old architecture of these one in a kind neighborhood in a very historical area.

Ghost towns are my favorite to document. Hopefully, you enjoy this one ! Sad to see old building's have this fate, but at the same time, exploring this environment was very informative to how these people lived very similar to myself. Yet having to be kicked out, I can only imagine how they feel. Thank you guys for coming along!

The weirdest part is the state bought up the land....How on earth is an entire neighborhood cheaper than replacing a wooden bridge? Also utility trucks for accessing those large high tension lines aren't exactly dainty in comparison to firetrucks...and those steel tower high tension lines would be removed for scrap if they weren't in active use.

Seems to me that neighborhood and those houses were falling apart long before the residents were forced to leave unless someone planted that 2018 calendar. I can't make it make sense unless there was a natural disaster? Do homes fall apart faster in places that get a lot of rain or snow? Before I got the roof of my house replaced in 2020, the other roof was there for over 20 years with no problems or leaks. So I really don't understand the state of those homes unless they have been neglected for a long time. It probably was a drug den and eyesore for the town at this point.
Also ...what sounded like the door slam might have been a tractor trailer hitting a pot hole? He's pretty close to what I would call a freeway in my part of the US.
Thanks for another awesome walk through history.

Five years would not create this amount of decay, also, these properties are in no way built in the 1800's, except for the first couple of cabins. The rest are all early 1900's and up. What I am reading is that they were cleared out to make way for a large mining company which then never came to fruition, and it makes zero dense that a bridge would not be replaced. The homeowners would have gotten together and replaced it, rather than be evicted. Who knows the real story- I'm quite sure there was a lot of hush money involved, and poor people got shafted.

This is sad, we have a village over here, and small mining town as well, for copper, half of the village is demolished since the closure of the mine in 1939 because the mine owned the village in that day. Its keeped well forgotten, forest grown over house yard and left foundation, nothing appears on the road there line of big house existed until discovered LIDAR mapping, i found the old mains road back in the wood, passing along all of these house foundations, i just spend few hours metal detecting and just hit a one cent copper piece somebody turned into a pendant in 1911, that’s incredible, just for that, i will plate in gold and turn in pendant again for all the respect of those people a century ago

I'm watching this video and all of a sudden I have a 'holy crap moment" when I see that New York sky line mirror hanging on the wall! I've got the exact same one hanging over my bed at this very moment! It was a Christmas gift from my sister and brother-in-law back in 2000! When you plug it in and turn it on, it lights up and has the sounds of flowing water! I've always enjoyed having it especially after 9-11-2001

Jurassic Park:Lost World tape cover has a "Lenticular" effect or "Tilt card" is a term used for it. CD's & DVD covers had them. It was a thing for sone time. The 80's was big on them also. With trappers, stickers and notebooks type of stuff.

It's unfortunate that they just didn't widen the road and replace the bridge coming into this community.
But like always, money talks and the land is probably worth more than these houses.
I think you mentioned 2018 as a date of when the neighbourhood became abandoned, but I wonder judging by the overall condition of the houses, if they knew the end of the neighbourhood was near before the fire, tha could be why repairs were locking.
I wonder if the interstate, had anything to do with this neighbourhood becoming abandoned, as well.

Such a beautiful place but then when I look at everything that's thrown out and it all sits there. Thank you for showing a location that I never seen before. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Reminds me of an abandoned neighborhood I used to explore that was partially destroyed and cut off by large lava flows. Not homes from the 1800s but interesting to document the decay. With each visit there were fewer homes as new lava flows slowly wiped them all out. Only two small stretches of pavement remain. It was a very steep area so walking around was a workout. The last home was covered in 2010. Many of the homes decayed quickly from termite damage. I remember one that stood out and could be seen for miles. It was sketchy walking in it as it was elevated and the floor was dangerously rotted. The floor was wall-to-wall Penthouse magazines. No video back in those days of exploring. Just photos.

Thank you for your channel, your updates, and your many explorations on our behalf, sir. I really enjoy your adventures, vicariously, but have concerns for your health and safety.
I’m a big fan of David Paulides’ CanAm Missing 411 channel on YT, through which he recounts and analyses the numerous mysterious disappearances of people all over the world for over 100 years now. As that he’s an avid outdoorsman and hiker, himself, he constantly warns against hiking on your own, by yourself, and cautions to always be properly prepared and equipped. He actively stresses carrying a firearm, bear spray, food, water, all weather gear, and a PLB, a personal locator beacon.
During one of his most recent episodes that was posted to YT, he discusses having broken his fibula on both legs on two separate occasions and how those injuries had immobilized him in both instances. As a result, he also suggests that if you do hike on your own, that you let your family and friends know where you’re going and when you plan on leaving and returning from that hike.
You are a fine, compassionate, mature, responsible, charitable, and personable man and I would hate to see it if misfortune found you, especially as that you are regularly walking through abandoned, decrepit, and remote locales.
Just because you’re walking through an abandoned town doesn’t mean that you’re not still within a jungle and that you’re life can’t be threatened.
Yes, you were right, btw, those were The Three Stooges.
Please stay safe and happy trails, my friend.

Btw, if you haven’t already read it, try reading ‘The Diary of a Forty-Niner’ by Chauncey Canfield.
It chronicles the story of an 18 year old man who arrives within the gold country in 1847, I believe it was. It may sound boring, but it’s an awesome read and he’d led an adventurous and interesting life during the time that he’d lived there.
It’s a read that I believe you’ll really enjoy, for it harkens back to a more rewarding, adventurous, and liberty laden time.
