Nope, the origin was Canton and Cleveland before they came to Philadelphia. YES MSB back them but those vocals Canton and Cleveland talent. Just as Howard Hewitt, James Ingram and Phillip Ingram and the group Switch.

The Ojays have always been a talented group and they still are since I first saw them perform in the 80s. I wish them all well as they enter their retirement. Their music will never fade away because their fans realize their contributions to the music industry and they are truly loved by their fans!❤❤
Bravo Gentleman!!! Walter and Eddie are legends BECAUSE they stayed together. What a class act to have Sammy Strain on that stage. Honestly, I didn't realize until a few years ago that Sammy had replaced William Powell (RIP) in the 70s. The looked so much alike! Congrats to Eric also.
The O'jays, the Spinners, the Stylistics, the list can go on and on. Great times and great tunes. Sounds as wonderful today as when I first heard them on AM radio. Original and authentic.
I was super proud for them!!! A well deserved moment for a great group of guys who went through hardships and triumphs in a very difficult business of music. Not selfish and they had Sammy Strain perform with them too?! Love them! One of my all time favorite groups!
Motown (and other similar) has always been my personal favorite style of music. You cant get any better than the OJays, Commodores, Four Tops, Temps...simply great music.
That era of singers who honed their craft on the chitlin cuircit in the 40's/50' & into the civil rights 60's will never happen again...all new soul music is based on their real talent...I just don't see new generation soul singers that can match those that actually struggled for real
1958 William and Eddie got together to form the group and have been together ever since. 1958 that is amazing to think about . Where egos broke up so many great groups they never faltered.
The greatest soul group of all-time. I am big lover the Motown sound. Grew up with. The Temps, Four Tops etc. But the longevity of the O’Jays in undeniable. Seen them numerous time. They never cheat the audience. Truly legendary!
The greatest sound to ever to come out of Philly...and I'll go out on a ledge and say... the greatest sound to ever come out of America! Bring it on!!!! O'JAYS
I met Walter Williams a few times. once I asked him what his favorite O’Jays song to perform was and he quickly answered “Love Train”. He said Eddie’s was “Backstabbers”and “For the love of money”. Walter is an extremely kind and gentle man.
Yes.. The Mighty mighty OJays! Iconic.. My child hood.. Rip My dad William L Davis and Grand Mother Essie Mea Scott.. They kept the OJays music playing in our home always💕💕💕
ok....racist comment call. No foul. because no music is like this anymore . regardless of color bro! C'mon! Great music is great music. This is soul music, not black music! Hall and Oates style. Just like Living Colour were hard rock aficionados.
Backstabbers, smile in your face. No truer words. That's awesome. Oh love this video! Money!😁👍 Love Train! Join the Love Train! Great! Fantastic! I love O'Jays!👍👏👏👏
I love the O'Jays! They get me up dancin, pushing through the pain from lyme disease. Thank you God for the gift of music to soothe us! And I also have a crush on Eric! xo :)

For me, one of their most notable works even right today is called "The Sound of Philadelphia" aka TSOP featuring The Three Dimensions, which you would probably mostly know as Soul Train's theme music. Truly a classic that I can NEVER get enough of! Happy Listening!
UNBELIEVABLE!!! I was 16yo when they really hit it. Listened and liked them. Obviously, I wasn't paying attention? Took me 50 years to find out who they really were? Now, they are one of my UA-cam staples.
