Love you guys ❤️
When I saw Louise left my first reaction was, "omg is she going to join painting phase!?!?" Her videos so far have been great. GW holds onto talent like a fistfull of sand.
Whats the link to her youtube page?

It's funny you say to watch me instead as I've also had comments that my painting is bad 😂😂 I love these chats you do.
That’s insane that folks say your paintings bad! 🤯🤯🤯
What?! There are some berks on the internet 😂
Not only does your paragon of supreme painting skill get hate comments... he also LOVES YOUR SHOW!!!
If your painting is bad, there's no hope for the rest of us mortals!!!
Perhaps they meant ‘bad’ as in the equivalent level of excellence as Michael Jackson’s seminal 1987 album?
Thank you gentlemen for a lovely stream and for sharing the news about Eve.
I served in O Battery (Rocket Troop), 2nd Field Royal Artillery. O battery was the only unit in the British Army that was allowed to fly another country's flag/colours (Sweden) as regimental colours. This was because the Rocket Troop saved the King of Sweden at the Battle of Leipzig in 1813.
Oh that’s a very Interesting fact, thanks for sharing that Jason
I'd say I'm an experienced painter - commissions, display and personal armies etc, but I can still appreciate your sentiment to approaching painting.
I keep trying to promote painting as an accessible hobby, as I truly believe it is, and your videos help to break the illusion that you need to spend dozens of hours per model to have something you can be proud of on the tabletop.
Also, it's interesting to me how other painters tackle a mini or technique so I like to watch your painting vids not so much as a tutorial, but seeing if I can glean a new perspective or method for whatever the vid topic is.
But above all, my favourite is you guys just chatting away in the background whilst I'm painting - gives me that Hobby shop vibe of old 😁
Yeah I agree, I like to look at what others do, as you never know what processes you can assimilate, or tweak for your own style. And I’m glad we’re able to keep you company whilst you hobby/work.
Enjoyed the chat about making content for people who find painting frustrating, tricky or slow. I definitely fall into that camp and I really appreciate the flavour of painting content you put out. I don't want to be the best painter, I just want to paint an passable army 😂.
The fact that Louise has seen 4chan and still puts herself on the internet is an incredible act of bravery. She deserves a medal and a subway sandwich of her choice
You are right. She used to post her savage orcs there ages ago. I don't remember anyone harassing her in those threads, but that might've been due to anonymous nature of the site. I'm pretty sure she wasn't the first one to call herself "savage orc guy", but I bet that's where it originated. Cool of her to make it her instagram moniker.
Peachy Louise Creachy Featchy was literally the best thing on hang out and hobby ever.
I love the energy and connection between you two.
Super exited for a collaboration in the future.
These sidetracked chats genuinely make me smile.
Love you guys ❤
Ooh I’m sooooo stoked to bring back the Loueachy creatchy featchy…..and I understand Suggs is too 👍👍👍
Peachy talking about Napoleon reminds me. The Late Great Sir Peter Cushing (Grand moff Tarkin) was an avid mini wargamer, painting and collecting.
Yes he was, I think I’ve seen some pics of him hobbying, possibly painting some Napoleonics maybe
Lord of the Rings really is Games Workshop's best game system. Couldn't agree more. It's a great example of how to make a game simple without losing the depth.

My friend and I were sat between Pat, Peachy, and Josh (Pickle Jar) during one of the 20minute speed painting competitions at Chillcon (great convention!). I have Peachy's awesome White Scar he painted, thanks for that! I had never painted a marine before now I really wanna buy box of marines and paint some White Scars 😂 Love the show, was great to meet you both too! Josh's salamander was awsome, and that flame freehand was mint!
Personally I'd love to see peachy do a high end paintjob, like his warhammertv Abaddon vid. Really enjoy all these chatshows too, thanks for educatin' and entertainin' us
ALSO, I finally got a chance to watch the whole show uninterrupted. Go figure I stepped away to help my son with something and totally missed the shout out the first time 😆. I'd absolutely love to be on the show the next time I'm in the UK.
And, you were not trounced Peachy. I've got video evidence of you viciously murdering my dog 🤣.
😂😂😂 yeah me and animals in war games 😬😬😬 not a great track record lol
On the first paratroopers: the story Peachy recounted of soldiers just jumping off a low flying plane is true, somewhat.
The Soviets experimented with soldiers jumping off low and slow planes into deep packed snow.
However, these weren't the first paratroopers. Soldiers had been jumping off planes with parachutes well before, the Soviets were just testing if the chutes were strictly necessary (they were).
Great chat as always gents. Miss Geoff of course, hope he is well. Excited to hear you guys talk with Bob again, looking forward to it!
It's so sad to hear that you guys and your colleagues have received horrible comments online, especially Louise Sugden. You guys are awesome, thank you for making such entertaining and inspiring painting videos, and please keep up the great work!
Thanks for the teeny tiny inadvertent mention chaps! 😊
I been watching yours and duncans tutorials for a while and watched Sugs when it popped up,. They are all different, but i find they all have useful tips no matter the skill level. It all helps me ❤
My friend and I both really enjoyed her work in master class.
She teased her leaving and we were happy for her. And the first video is good stuff. Gud luck to her. Can't wait for more
Great show, really enjoyed listening to it :-) Can't wait to see you chatting with Bob again!
Bahaha! Aw yeah, rockin' the bottom of the credits. Saving the best for last I see 😄.
You know it!
Missed the big barber.
Always nice to have you guys running when painting or hobbying in general.
Thanks for doing what you do
Nearly split my stitches from surgery laughing at this episode. Thanks for the fun and cheering me up. Delighted to hear sugs has joined the band of rogue GW staff. Great stuff lads
You stay on topic about as well as stormtroopers shoot, and I love it
Would love to see a peachy paint Dante with bronze calling it a better gold ❤
I followed Savage Ork Guy for so long, and was surprised when I found out it was Sugs. But it also suddenly made sense as I love her work!
Ha! Yeah such a talented painter, and an amazing all round person
Good for Louise sugden, Gw need to make things better for their staff, not make it worse to beat them into staying…
I would like to see a Peachy high end paint job! It would be interesting to see a 5 minute, 60 minute, 300 minute challenge on the same model
Another wonderful and delightful chat, chaps. Thank you very much for the entertainment, gentlemen!
You are most welcome 😍😍😍
A man who loses the kings colours…loses the kings friendship
Love these sit a talk videos, really interesting and entertaining 👌
Aww cheers Daz, glad you enjoy them 😍👍
I experienced a similar thing to Peachy. I grew up in Germany and lived there my whole life. My dad's English and until I was 6 or 7 years old we would ONLY speak English at home but from that point onwards we changed to German.
I lost most of my language skills (and had to re-learn later) but I have something like a "understanding" of the English language (without it being perfect or anything but it does help)
Always had a soft spot for our Rogue. Her and Peachy still help me out with my re-watching of the Imperium Magazine videos and the tutorials.
You need to 3d print official painting phase (peachy pegs) marked clothes pegs and take them to every event to stick on random people!
People don’t know what they’re talking about, your painting looks great. Your 12 hour painting challenge turned out Fantastic.
Pat saying "Sorry Darling" made me think that one week without Jeff and him and Peach can finally be open about how they feel for each other!
This sounds like classic telenovela drama approaching.
I don’t know why but when peach said be nice to suggs, I thought he was going to finish it with “or I’ll kill you”
Talking about “content that gets clicks”, I always love painting challenge videos “can I paint a boarding patrol in 12 hours” “I paint my stonecast eternal army in 24 hours”. But I understand how difficult/taxing this can be on you guys!
I also love the themed stuff which I think is great for speed painting - I want to do a “living bronze statue” legions of azghor army, verdigris and all with glowy red eyes, but can’t find many tutorials on it so I might have to… *gasp*… figure it out for myself.
Black Powder is great fun because of its unpredictability (people who like more strategic games might disagree). There's this guy on the internet who 3d-designs niche historic Napoleonic German regiment and sells them. He even has a Guard regiment from my hometown of Ludwigsburg, which finally made me take the plunge into historical wargaming, using them in BP.
Another great video. I would like different tiers of painting, so it's like a learning curve for painting: Basic, intermediate, expert.
From memory the Russian paratrooper story is real and their mitigation for the fall was to 'aim for deep snow', it's possibly the most dudes rock way of paratrooper-ing ever invented.
Haha! Well I’m glad I didn’t just make it up, thanks for clarifying that 😍👍
ACKSHUALLY... not really, the landing in deep snow is a legend also known as "Mozhaisk landing in December 1941", I call it a legend as there are no documentary sources confirming this operation.
In my opinion it is a legend from two parts and the first part of a legend (about landing without parachutes) has appeared because in the USSR in 30th years researches on landing without parachutes (Контейнер Гроховского or ПД-КОР Гроховского) were conducted, but they have not come to test these inventions with people. And the second part of the legend with heavy losses arose because of the results of the Vyazemsk airborne operation.
I'd love an episode with Louise on! She's too cool.
Aye! She’s defo up for coming on, just gotta get them planets aligned lol
Once again was a great show. Still buzzing from my signed peg from you guys 🤣 I'd definitely be up for that influencer/content creator speed painting challenge. It's returning for next year's chillcon so would be great to catch you there again! Big loves 🤘😎🔥
Guys I'm really loving these chats..they are really funny and great to listen as I hobby,.. especially when building models... in regards to painting videos, I would love some higher end painting tutorials every now and then,, as Peachy mentioned some time ago that 'Eavy Metal painters use a lot of tricks to make stuff look good,, so it would be nice to find out what these tricks are and how to paint to a higher standard...keep up the good work!
I was the heckler folk lol, I’m counting that as a mention 🤣
Great work guys! It was great to meet you both and get pegged by ‘peachy the pegger’
Oh me… the mental images XD
Hahaha! We both had a great time, thanks for the heckles lol
@@thepaintingphase your more than welcome 😀
@@niallcampbell it’s everything you imagine and more
Great episode as always! :-)
Thanks guys!
It'd be great to see you guys chat to Snipe and Win; they've got such a different and interesting approach to the hobby and I'd love to see you guys coming together!
You've reminded me that I also got a couple of minis from the lads at War on Terra. Really clean, looks really nice. I'm going the get them painted up now.
Great episode gents. Really looking forward to the next one with Bob as the first one was awesome.
Absolutely love your chats!
"Who would fight for a rag on a pole!?!"
"You do Richard. You do."
Hahaha! 👌👌👌
“Chosen men?…..I didn’t choose ya!”
Stoked Sugs is doing her own thing! It’d be rad for her to be on for a pod along with many others to chat about the hobby. Cheers you champs 🤘
Yeah we’re certainly looking to get her on
That story about the Valkyre sprue is such a class move haha what a knob
I did a quick scan, couldn't see a response:
It is known on two occasions that Russian paratroopers jumped from planes into snow without parachutes; Finland and Viesma.
Looking forward to seeing Sugs on the show!
Was slightly distracted, heard you mention Suggs and thought "THIS. IS. MADNESS." and then realised it had nothing to do with 2-tone.
Thought the same thing when they had mentioned Sugs previously. Had to do a little research to figure out it was a young lady & not a 2 Tone icon lol
Rosa Parks was not 'the first'. It was Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin was more like the original astronauts you mentioned that sacrifically 'burned up'. The Rosa Parks event was staged, based on Claudette Colvin's actions, after it showed how much attention such an act could bring to the Civil Rights movement.
Yes the guys jumping off the plane is true, the plane was the Tupolev TB-3 and the soldiers climbed mid flight out through the open cockpit then on the wings and after they all got on the flaps or the elerons they jumped. The tehnique was used in combat during the battle of Moscow and it was effective due to the fact that the snow was soft and like a meter tall, tho yes, some still broke some legs or ankles.
With respect to the high end paint job idea, maybe do it in such a way as offer a 'step-by-step' kinda thing on each stage, it'd give us more novice painters an insight into what we'd need to change or build upon to work up to that level?
Love the insights into Dave Andrews. Thanks, Peachy.
I DON’T know where their studio is…but if I DID! I would send them flowers and hobnobs
Apollo 10 went around the moon, but never landed. The fire that killed the crew on the pad was Apollo 1
As a new painter I think a high end paint job video would actually really informative for stuff like HQ units where you want to spend more time on them to make them stand out from the basic troops
That basing story is very similar to one of mine: my Greek ex-girlfriend, and I drove to get some sand from the beach in Ύδρα (we we pronounce as Hydra).
All of my Alpha Legion have sand from Hydra on their bases!
Peachy is my favorite painter (Sorry Sugs and Duncan!). Fast painting army articles in old White Dwarfs set you on the pedestal...glad to say you are still there! (EDIT: Seconded SBG as the best system out there!)
☺️☺️☺️ Aww thank you Brendan, I’m pleased my articles have helped you over the years, those other two painters are still amazing and beautiful people.
But it’s nice to be someone’s favourite 👍
@@thepaintingphase No doubt, Duncan and Sugs are amazing! Keep up the good work my friend!
@@thepaintingphase No doubt, Duncan and Sugs are amazing! Keep up the good work my friend!
This was a great episode, lots of interesting info about miniature games and Napoleonic wars. Also big-up to Peachy about MESBG as the best wargame system! Also I loved that story about the guy who got rocks from the river bed for his Middle Earth miniatures - has inspired me to seek that out too.
4 of my favourite pigment pushers, sitting talking nonsense and painting. You've just made my Monday........how dare you I hate mondays😮
Yeah we need to make Mondays more awful 😂
I love the ventrillain nobles, i like that they are proud to flaunt their feathers
Oh you! Love ya Diarmuid!!! I miss your musk
The flow of time saves no-one - i look forward to a pair of peachy-locks in the future!
Oh wow I was the same, grew up in Germany(Dad in British Army). Moved to England when I was 7ish - lost all my German ability, but at high school we did get to German and I was the same. I had to learn it from scratch, but the odd word I'd know without being told.
Attainable versus Aspirational. Attainable is more gamer focused. Definitely space for both.
So chance on silver tower with blenders and hamsters..... go Sugs and Peach !!
I was born in Germany and my family moved to the UK when I was 7. @Peachy - I can say from experience that the weird subconscious German-understanding comes in handy when learning the language many many years later after moving here to live with my wife :)
Patrick you look fabulous. Nice shaped up beard, nice use of product in the hair, and nice glasses frames.
I'd be interested in seeing a pro painted figure, but I doubt most people would. Maybe you could do one of those challenges like painting the same character in ten minutes, half an hour, and six hours, and then compare them.
Also, when Peachy does a painting video, it'd be nice to see a comparison shot of the character once they reach tabletop standard, and then after the finishing touches stage.
Keep up the good work :)
Regarding painting display minis versus tabletop level, how about splitting the difference and doing videos about "officer level" painted figs? Not display but much nicer than the rank and file.
Yeah that’s a great shout! I do put some focus on that with our next step stages which on a few vids I suggest to do for heroes sgts etc. but a dedicated vid would be fun.
Another fantastic chat from the Side Tracked Ladz ! I have to say I came for the painting but stayed for these chats ! ( I would of stayed anyways ) it wouldn't of Phase'd me. 😂 I just look forward to what random crap will be said 😅 and wonder if you will ever remember to stay on topic 😅 cheers Peach and Pat
Tip for Peachy and for anyone else who has an interest in Napoleonic. There are grim fantasy games in the Napoleonic era:
The first one is Turnip28, a rank-and-file style game, and the other one is Silver Bayonet a skirmish game.
Both games are fun and easy to play and open to a wild variety of conversions (especially Turnip28).
Yeah, Turnip28 is like a grim-dark Blanchitsu body horror version of the Napoleonic wars. It's awesome! And Silver Bayonet is awesome, too, like a Witcher/Solomon Kane version of Frostgrave. Great fun!
Awesome!!.. can't wait for the next one
Also good to see my name up 😁😁
Waiting for the Sharpe’s Eagle references all through this episode XD
I always enjoy your chats and it'll be great to see another one with Bob Naismith next week!
Further to the "OnlyHands" stuff you've previously commented on, have you noticed that GW have dropped surnames from those videos where they deign to show presenters' faces?
I think I first noticed this with the Adepticon reveals. No longer were Nick Bayton and Stu Black allowed to talk about 40k, now they are just Nick and Stu. Wade lost his Pryce too, and I think this has been the case with all subsequent videos...
Peachy talking about being forced in to taking French at secondary school hit hard. Same thing happened to me I used to be fluent in German but I was forced in to doing French. Now sadly I cant speak German any more but still can pick up the odd word.
It’s weird way to teach, build on what you know, not erase and start from scratch
@@thepaintingphase you know what I did after this I downloaded Duo Lingo and started learning German again.
I went to a primary school that was entirely through Irish, when I went into secondary I was able to drop it (it's taught awfully in secondary) and I have a similar thing with understanding the language having actually retained very little of it.
After the Necromunda campaign you guys should do a lotr battle companies. Introduce Pat in to the game through that.
Love the videos. The chats are my go to to listen to whilst painting.
Lord of the Rings as a rules set presented a great opportunity for real shield wall combat: which was rarely straight lines. Imagine Vikings vs saxons using that system!
You can do big terrain projects "speed painted", combine a bigger project but still keep your vision of what you want to do intact :) Or some cool conversion project?
Loving your vids folks. As an older hobbyist (48), I started to feel a bit disillusioned with it all because of all the whippersnappers in the hobby making me feel ancient. Glad there's folk on the wrong side of 40 still enjoying things. Given me a new lease on hobby life.
Also, Sugs is great.
Yay! Intend to do this until I retire at the Spritely age of 147, constantly changing my painting style to accommodate my failing body 😂👍
I was pegged by Peachy at Chillcon!
Enjoying Peachy Geek out, at length, about Napoleonic military uniform drip!
☺️ if I can wax lyrical about Napoleonic I will lol…..I love a good natter.
Another great show, gents! Lots of great sidetracks on this one...

Peppermint tea is like drinking liquid toothpaste.
Just wanted to drop a comment to say I appreciate tutorials for less experienced painters and really enjoy your content. I only tend to watch tutorials for the specific thing I'm painting though, so skip lots of videos. I wonder if more general purpose 'how to paint these types of things' videos for cloth, guns, metal armour, etc., with multiple techniques or how the same techniques in different areas turns out would be popular?
All this talk of tea made me go make a cup of it 😅
I get what Peachy means, I spoke Bavarian as a child and unfortunately have forgot more than I remember...but much like The Despondent Candidate, my ears prick up randomly when I hear certain words and phrases. Keep up the terrific content.
My favorite is when I would make a tutorial advertised as easy, and it generally is on the easier end, and people get upset cause it has more than like 5 steps and 3 colors... Some people are just upset at everything regardless?
Yeah we’ve had that a few times too, I guess you can’t please everyone 🤷♂️
Thanks for dropping by Tyler 😍👍
I know it's all about personal preference when it comes to the style of videos that people like to watch. For me, I've really gone off the "here's me doing a voice changed lore dump for five minutes before any tangible hobby content" style of videos.
I really enjoy your videos and the same with Sonic Sledgehammer Studio output for the "I can see this as very useful and attainable painting techniques to get table ready paint jobs"
Where as I watch the likes of Sorastro just to boggle at how the many, many, many seemingly simple steps lead up to an amazing result.
Great to hear Peachs talk about Lord of the Rings! Middle Earth SBG is a great game
It truly is 🙌🙌🙌
Defo want to see a high end peachy paint job, I admire the job you are doing for new/ improving painters and it would be good to see what you can do when you want to (do some redcoats😊). Also: do you have any information on the hills made out of Bath towels? I want to know more and how to do it.
You should do one of those beginner, medium, expert videos on painting like they do for food channels.
I love the attainable aspect of your painting videos, some great inspiration that's actually attainable. The aspirational stuff is nice to watch as well but sometimes a bit intimidating!
As a woman into a lot of more male dominated hobbies and my degree in computing I was the only woman in there for some classes it's definitely getting better now. I'm not saying it's great but it was so intimidating as a teenager wanting to go into a games workshop store and just walking out when there's a group of 20 or 30 year old guys staring at me silently when they were talking and painting before I walked in. Still get stares sometimes in store but it's mainly teenage boys and the staff are friendly.
I wish I'd got into it then rather than 20 years later and I still go with gender neutral usernames online and never use a mic after early online experiences.
Well firstly I’m super pleased you’ve enjoyed the vid. Lots of great painters out there, but yeah some can be a tad intimidating. Much like walking into a hobby store and being the only female, I can’t imagine how that must feel, but I’m glad you’ve stuck with the hobby. The online gaming community do seem somewhat horrid at times from what I hear…..sorry to hear you’ve had such negative experiences.
We were at a big as gaming event called salute today, and they had a panel of lovely ladies in the hobby talking about there experiences etc. if you have Instagram or Twitter, it’ll be worth reaching out to them.
They’re super open and supportive and want to help breakdown any barriers where they can
If you DM me on my insta or Twitter account I can pass on their pages to you. Their ace peeps.
@@thepaintingphase thanks, I'll message you over on Instagram. There's definitely a lot more women in lots of these more traditionally male hobbies posting recently so it's been nice to see. Also such a range of styles and colours and some good communities in recent years on Facebook and Reddit that don't care about those things and just share ideas.
