I highly recommend going down the OK Go music video rabbit hole. Look up "OK Go on Treadmills." Choreographed and directed by a sister of one of the singers. She eventually directed Pitch Perfect 3. OK Go is solid pop rock, but they have the most incredible videos.

Sebastian Bach was and still is a wonderful vocalist. His range is extraordinary!!!!! Absolutely love this song!!!!! I love Skid Row. Please do more reactions to Skid Row!!!!! We all need love.
Skid row came out at a time when they were too late for 80's hair metal but too early for 90's grunge. Awesome band with a solid first 2 albums nonetheless.
Here's a coincidence. I just finished watching "Slave to the grind", went out to the kitchento boil some spaghetti, thought to myself "I wonder if he'll do Quicksand Jesus?", came back to the computer, scrolled down a bit....and there it is! Love this song and very nice reaction!
Quite a world we live in where someone has to give a disclaimer and be afraid to speak about anything related to religion. "...the land of the free....." sings the bird in its cage. Speak your mind and let the haters hate and the lovers love.
I was in college when Skid Row came out and have loved them ever since. Yes, I still listen to my hair metal, I love it! It's my youth! While most of the "glam bands" at the time were mostly focused on the "party" aspect, shallow lyrics, questionable topics, etc., Skid Row was different. Very talented, Bas' vocals were always outstanding, and their songs contained stories with a message. Slave To The Grind, the album this song was from, didn't get the love it deserved. It never got as popular as their first album, but in my opinion, every song on it is outstanding. There's not a bad one in the bunch. Thanks for showing this group the love they deserve!
I want to say thank you for being so honest it's refreshing to see an open mind yours is heads above all the other channels your insight is usually spot on to what I was thinking the fist time I heard these songs years ago keep up the great work i am a fan
Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo, who wrote the song, were both Catholics who struggled with their beliefs because of the rockstar lifestyle that surrounded them. This song was written about that.
If I recall correctly, Rachel Bolan (the bass player) said they wrote this song, right after the gulf war kicked off. It was about whether they could hold onto their beliefs, or fall to worry and fear.
I appreciate you brother. This, imo is about getting yourself where you feel safe with where you are. If we all we're perfect then we wouldn't need anything to help us. But I truly believe, and I have experienced it.
"Bastard Saint" is the lyric that hits you in the face! I do like your interpretation too! Rachel Bolan is an incredible poet and artist. I think he wrote most of the songs and lyrics. Darkened Room is awesome too.
THANKS for doing my favorite Skid Row song. This one seem to get overlooked. The meaning of the song according to Sabastian Bach in an interview "a song about trying not to lose faith in God with all the sh*t that goes on in the world". Really fits the past year. I'm not religious at all but still love this song.

Bolan and Sabo wrote some incredibly deep songs that put them miles ahead of the "hair band" category. This song is a testament to that.

In A Darkened Room is one of their best songs and has a message that is very relevant in today’s crazy world.
Their best album by far

To the other side
A slow parade of wind
That blows through trees
That wilted with the season's children

Do we live in fear or faith?
Tell me now who's behind the rain
A maze of tangled grace
The symptoms of for real

The shadows of belief
And new religion clouds our visions of the roots
Of our souls
Are we ashamed of our own fate?
Or play the fool for our own sake?
Tell me who's behind the rain
What do we need?
Where do we go?
When we get where we don't know
Why should we doubt the virgin white of fallen snow?
When faith's our shelter from the cold
What do we need?
Where do we go?
When we get where we don't know
Why should we doubt the virgin white of fallen snow?
When faith's our shelter from the cold
