Thank you Lisa for giving me as a new sewer the confidence to try new things in making my "creations". The first thing I tried were using a glue stick to make mug rugs for all my daughters nurse co-workers for Christmas 2 years ago. They turned out better than I had expected by using your step by step guidance. I'm now onto my next projects for Christmas mug rugs using applique. Thank you!
Lisa, I am so glad I searched your videos & found this . I bought some Ultra Hold , hadn't read the package yet I just wanted to see what it was. I just wrote "DO NOT SEW" on it lol .I'm planning on trying applique I want turned edges there's a way I saw using single sided fusible🤞 watching you for as much info as my brain will retain. You are extremely easy to understand . Thank you for all your videos !
Is the Heat n Bond Lite strong enough to hold things like patches on without stitching? I may stitch in the future, but I'm not sure I'd do it now. If I used the Ultra, I know it will stay on but I can't stitch later if I want to. This is for sports jersey numbers, so a strong hold is important but so is the ability to stitch if I wanted
Thank you Lisa for this video. It was GREAT !!!!! I finally understand the difference's between both of heat & bonds. I just recently asked you this question on a previous video. But then I thought maybe if I Google it.I can find out. And there you were showing a video. On the differences, I'm so glad I found you in this video. Because you always explain everything in a way that's easy to understand. Thank you again Lisa❤
Thanks so much Lisa!! I have done some appliqué lately on my mug rugs. Designed some of my own and I’m loving that. I like the heat and bond lite because I like the quilty effect I get from it. Thanks so much for the great tutorial!
I'm into hooded towels and I'm learning about all of this. I did use my heat and bond (red) and did sew over it, and your right it will him up your needle It did turn out cute. Thanks for clearing up the part about washing the product after your done. I will get the ( purple pack too) 😊
I just used Heat and Bond Lite yesterday after watching more of your mug rug videos. I made a little gnome on one and a Santa on the other. I also fussy cut some pictures out of another Christmas fabric for some other mug rugs. I have no idea what I am going to do with all of these projects, but I am having fun.
Thank you for this video. I am new to sewing and I love applique, I am not good at sewing around the applique. So I brought the heat and bond ultra hold. Where i don't have to sew. Thank you for explaining this to me.
I am trying to use the ultra bond to bond denim shapes onto denim but it won't stick... The "glue" just looks shiny and won't adhere. Maybe I am heating it on too long? How long should i keep the heat press on and at what temp should my iron on press be at ? Any help would be appreciated❤
Hi, I am new to aplique and wondered if anyone could answer me a question as I am using fabric and paper what scissors do I use as I am using fabric and paper.? Will the paper blunt my sewing scissors? Or am I overthinking it?
I just bought the pink heat n bond hem. I was going to hem my boy’s curtains. I didn’t want to sew them. It’s a light fabric… do you think i purchased the wrong one?
I guess you could use both in one project, i.e. I'd use the Lite on the bow b/c it looks cute stitched, but all the smaller pieces maybe the Ultra. That way you customize it & both can be washed in cold water. A win-win.👍💜🧡
I've used Heat n Bond Ultra on football jerseys in a quilt. The blocks are heavy and stiff. Will they soften up after washing them? There are several shirts bonded in this quilt and it feels like canvas. Help!
Hi Naomi, do you mean that you've backed the entire shirt with HeatnBond Ultra instead of using a fusible interfacing....or in place of it? The nature of the Ultra is to add convenience of not having to sew down applique and things of this sort, and for the bond to be permanent. This convenience does come with some draw backs as the applique does turn out quite a bit stiffer than using the lite products that you have to sew when using. This MAY soften up over time, but sadly I don't think it will ever be supper cuddly....I'm hoping I'm wrong :(
hi Lisa and thanks for sharing :) to fuse fabric onto cardstock would I want to choose the Lite or Ultrahold? obviously laundering is not a factor with cards but wondered if the same principle applies, ie that each piece would still need to be individually stitched with the Ultrahold.. thanks so much!
Thanks Lisa! I’m going to get a cut n scan in a little over a week so plan on asking to get SVG,s on my previous orders already purchased- I hope that’s ok 😃
Hey Ms. Nita......woah I'm so excited for you!!!! Okay, so if you go to your Etsy homepage page, look in upper right hand corner and click on the YOU icon....then click on purchases and reviews....all of your previous purchases should be there, along with the svg files that were never downloaded. All in one place :)
Hi Faye! I have not tried, however this fusible is intended for no sew projects which tell me that you may find it difficult to use when hand sewing........I would do a little test with the fabrics that you want to use before committing to using it for the whole project ♡
I've got a cosplay project that requires me to make heat n bond appliques. I definitely should have picked up the red heat n bond though.. because it's a lot of intricate detail, and I don't have the skill or patience to sew them all down with my machine, lol.
Which presser foot were you using making the swirls. Can I sew on the H&B light. Do I need to leave space between the edge of the fabric and the heat and bond light? Thanks for any feedback you can offer. :-)))
Aw I just traced out several pieces for a quilt and then noticed I bought the no sew! Debating wether to take a chance or not. How much stiffer will it be ? My largest piece is 4" wide .
Hi Lisa....IMO there is quite a bit of difference in "stiffness" between the two products. I don't know that it will matter to much.......lol saying that without seeing your project.....just guessing upon the biggest measurement you gave me......
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead I am making fairy wings and want to use a mixture of different coloured fabrics and films. The base is wire. If it were transparent, I could just lay a sheet of it over the entire wing. Otherwise I need to cut it into strips and place it along the wire where I want the fabric to fuse. I was going to experiment with the outer layer and try a mixture of heatnseal laminate and 3 or 5m laminate.
I prefer not to prewash my fabric however, I see both types of heatnbond instructions state prewash your fabric. Have you found it necessary? Why or why not? I greatly appreciate your insight,
Lol when I first started quilting I use the ultra on a project I didn’t realize it was a permanent bond I messed my needle up and what a mess so that project went in the trash. Lessons learned.
It's happened to every quilter at least once. Mine was in a class & I ruined all the hand dyed fabric that I made & brought. I had to buy a new needle & fabric on the spot. Life long lesson. 😅
This is exactly the information I needed! thank you!

Excellent, very instructive video, thanks again, Lisa.
Thank you for this! I have often wondered the purpose of the Ultra Bond. I appreciate the information!
I just was in Michaels looking for heat & bond and thankfully I got the light. Amazing you are talking about this today ! Thank you Lisa.

Great demo Lisa thank you.
I love your tutorials. Thank you
thank you Dinny!
Thank you for your lesson. I love hand aplique and some day I will get the courage to machine aplique.
You can do it!
Million thanks! I had a lite Heartnbond since 4 years not open, I was afraid to use it! Now, I will.
I hope you have lots of fun!!!! Applique is one of my favorite things to do

Can you use heat and bond lite on wool felt?
I would like to see these little mug rugs after washing , maybe even after three or four washes and dryer time
It says to pre wash fabric on the package. I did not hear you say that. Do you need to pre wash the fabric?

Thanks. Great teaching. ❤😊👍

I just bought the pink heat n bond hem.
I was going to hem my boy’s curtains. I didn’t want to sew them.
It’s a light fabric… do you think i purchased the wrong one?
Wow, Great info, thanks so much!

I like the "lite" the best because I like the stitched look and I enjoy the stitching time.
Me too!
Thank you for your good video 😊
Hi! Can you hand sew on the Heat n Bond Ultra Hold?
Hi Faye! I have not tried, however this fusible is intended for no sew projects which tell me that you may find it difficult to use when hand sewing........I would do a little test with the fabrics that you want to use before committing to using it for the whole project ♡
great video as always... :)

You don't need to leave an edge between the fabric and the H&B and yes you sew through the H&B lite, never the ultra hold.

Is heat n bond lite fully transparent? I’m looking for something I can use for translucent film.
I'd love to help....the heatnbond Lite is not completely transparent, it's a tad bit opaque.....what are you needed film for exactly?
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead I am making fairy wings and want to use a mixture of different coloured fabrics and films. The base is wire. I don't pre-wash either.......and as of YET, I haven't run into any issues. That of course doesn't mean that issues couldn't arise :)
Please do video on which batting you use in your quilt
Hi Brenda, I'm writing your suggestion down for future video ideas, thank you!
Ty😁
Sew cute and thanks for the comparison
You’re welcome 😊
Lol when I first started quilting I use the ultra on a project I didn’t realize it was a permanent bond I messed my needle up and what a mess so that project went in the trash. Lessons learned.
that has happened to LOTS of people, you are not alone :)

I suppose the Lite is good for cross stitch work?
Hi Nancy...hmmm, good question! I've never tried hand stitching through it before.
Can i use the ultra bond on a patch to my denim vest, first sew it on by hand with a leather or carpet needle then iron it for extra durability?
It would be very difficult but you could try, there are no rules
Hi
