    I kept hoping to see how the thread spool was mounted on the machine. If the thread is pulling from the side, that may be why the thread is twisting. The thread on a cross wound spool needs to be pulled straight off the top of the spool, not from the side.

    Hi! Just letting you know I found your post on Quilter Blogs and came to watch on you tube. This is a great video and better than some that have been edited. I like the easy "just chatting" style rather than "teacher style" videos. I will definitely watch more and have subscribed. Thank you for sharing the technique. I think you explained it very well and thoroughly. I'm not much of an applique quilter but you inspire me to want to give it another go. Any suggestions for stitches other than a blanket stitch? Hi...great video, Lea Anne....I have gotten so that I really like Aurifil thread....I DETESTED the curling but found a tip online that works! My machine has the 3-hole part where threading starts-----instead of going in and out through the 3 holes just use 1 hole. The thread stopped curling. I was so amazed but so pleased! ps...love your blogposts....as I live in podunk, usa...I especially love it!

      @kupton52 3 роки тому

      @@lindawilson3770 My machine has an upper thread guide, both the sewing machine and the longarm....a small horizontal bar with 3 holes. You put the thread through the holes in an over and under pattern through the 3 holes. I've learned if you bypass all three and only use one of the holes the thread stops curling. The curling is the only fault I have with Aurifil.

    Gütermann thread won't do that and it won't twist around when you're hand stitching. I've tried varied ones but Gütermann thread is the very best. Unless you're using the wrong needle in your machine, it won't break either. (It costs more than the average does though, but it's worth it.)
    PS: I can never get the paper on the proper side. I have a little dyslexia and tend to do things the wrong way 5 times before I catch on. Also, I can never get it to stick properly. Do you find that it doesn't work on flannel?
