I think they really make it difficult for Filipinos to win especially Simon Cowell. But I’m pretty sure they are aware that Philippines produces great singers.

Joy Esquivias of The Voice Germany was a contestant before in Tawag ng Tanghalan.
When I'm watching a singing show, I want to see and hear vocal prowess. When I'm on Spotify, I want silky smooth vocals without the screaming and screeching. The format is different so expectations are different.
That's right, in competitions, it is a must for contestants showing the best they can do.
In spotify they show themselves, their own style, no need to please everybody, mostly for chill.
it is hard for judges in singing contests in the country. to decide in the finals who will be left yto win . cause all finalists are very good. intentionally they consider the looks or mass appeal. who can pass the beauty or handsomeness factor . before in old age singing contests in Philippines . i was young then. physical appearance is not a problem. filipino singing icons are very asian . some mestizo mestiza . half fils . sharp noses or white skinned . if you watched regine as a starter . even sarah. their features changes . there is difference . they have to adapt to the trend . since K pop industry started the enhancement trend . when i was young . i was so amazed when i saw mestizo mestizas in our country . for the very first time .😊😅 then i met my 1st cousins . their mom is of german lineage .. i understand now. but they are natural . it runs in their blood . my nose differ from them. Morissette also . 4th impact . very filipinos in features. they confirmed . they were always judge by countrymen how they look. telling them they do not have the appeal. they have to adjust / adapt to the trend . most of filipinos are judgementals. like what i felt when first time i see people opposite of how we look.we admire our opposites appearances 😅😊. some filipinos will tell .it is not true . first glance . it is true . guys.😊❤

That Passionfruit cover by Jej is awesome, I felt like he should have gone further - wasn't a fan of some of the song choices he did during that season. If I am not mistaken, one of the judges commented that he was too technical. He also had one of my favorite battles - him and Beth Griffith-Manley singing Jealous.

The judges are dircriminating Asian contestants especially Simon Cowell. Look what he did to Marcelito Pomoy. He was the crowd favorite. Whenever he performs there was standing ovation among the crowd. But look what happened Pomoy lost because of Simon.

In the Philippines the best don't always win always either. Mori, Darren, Charice, Katrina, TNT boys, to name a few. Justin of SB19 didn't even make it to the live auditions. These competitions select people who are marketable, not necessarily the best vocally or the most talented. Once in a while, we get excellent winners but most of the time, not.
TBH ... Filipino contestants are great singers, but that's all they have... they are not skilled in sharing personality and building an image... the ones that do are already famous IN THE PHILIPPINES ... and when it comes down to it all these "competitions" are just popularity contests at heart. AND ... nobody who one the voice in the US had any significant carreer after winning 😅

Philippines dont win . but they have always nice quantity of views . full of entertainment and still joining . though never get the title . only runner up. half blood only . but never the pure blood. it is not the filipinos fault if they are not winning. if it is already decided not to win a pure blood fil or half fil . they just enjoy what they are doing . part of culture . appreciated of not. wven in own country . criteria for singing competitions are so hard. if very hard . they consider on the looks or physical appearance of finalists . almost all fils loves to sings. not all filipinos are great singers . but most are raw talents . colonizEd by how many foreign countries. adapted colonial mentality . judging physical appearance . now ... celebrities whatever field. make enhancements to their faces . skin. not to be judge how they look.
