- As a fellow introvert, I can relate to Rooney quite often 😊 I was always curious how it is possible to be such a magnificent actress or actor and, at the same time, to be a shy and calm person, who is not relying on the glamorous celebrity life. Yet, there are artists like that and Rooney is one of the best examples 💖 I found her thoughts on this topic, especially the ones said during 22:36-24:33 min, to be very interesting, very true and very wise. Hope you'll like this video because I had such a cozy and warm feeling while making it 🤗 Maybe it's the magic of the introvert vibes?! 😊

She needs intelligent, sensitive people to interview her. She makes most of the people in the video look like silly fakes. Not her fault, obviously. In fact, it's inspiring to see that it's possible to claim your space without shouting or pleasing or acting. I love that about Keanu Reeves too.

Though don't forget intelligence can also mean emotional or spiritual intelligence, which is exactly what a good interviewer needs, regardless of who they are interviewing. (Not to imply all introverts are blessed with that kind of intelligence either of course. ;))

Yeah when I was applying for jobs for a long time, every single job ad would say "we want someone who is upbeat, outgoing and bubbly" and I felt like I couldn't even apply because that's just not my personality. Despite the role I was applying for, I never felt like there was any value placed on my qualities as an introvert even though introverts tend to have other strengths such as thoughtfulness or observation skills or independence.
Emily Blunt had a really bad stutter and Rooney Mara has social anxiety.
The fact that despite that, those two are both fantastic actress gives me hope for myself to overcome both of those issues I have as well

If it was Ellen, 100% she, the crew and the audience would've started singing happy birthday (even if it was not her birthday) and to make a big circus around it.
Conan's ability to immediately gauge her discomfort and make her laugh off-rip, while also not giving her too heavy questions early on so she eases into it and gathers confidence to answer more effectively. Gotta love the guy.

At first I didn’t know why I clicked on this (I never really saw any of Rooney’s films and therefore never really knew her as an actress), but watching this was a nice reminder that being an introvert is not a weakness and you can succeed as an introvert. I sometimes find myself trying to be more extroverted as if being an introvert is a flaw or defect that is going to hold me back, but it’s really not. Now I understand why I needed to watch this.

Shyness, or social anxiety, isn't the same thing as introversion. You can be a very outgoing and lively person, and still be an introvert.
Yeah i agree...im suprised people say that those with social anxiety cant ever be like this and it's implying that people with it cant succeed in life. Like I've done a lot of public speaking because I had to but Ive had many anxiety attacks and preparations for them due to my social anxiety. FFS just cuz you have social anxiety doesnt mean u expect others with it to be shut out forever. Also an introvert person doesnt necessarily mean you're mentally ill. I see so many people lowkey self diagnosing and say "oh im an introvert and i can relate" lol sorry for the rant

I will be out 5 nights a week because it's what is necessary to push my music forward...means to an end. And after the adrenaline of performing, I get on a buzz and become very sociable. Ultimately we all have different quirks, backgrounds, motivations, and cognition, so...

The extroverts people actually don't understand shy people and it shows. One of my classmates once told me "I don't understand SHY PEOPLE" and that send me... I was like "I'm right here. I can hear you even if I'm not telling you anything"
I felt this. This is so strange even in a casual conversation. It baffles me how a lot of people think pointing out a person's shy or quiet demeanour could be an interesting way to gain their friendship. Lol

I've always loved doing more "peaceful" stuff on my weekends, like visiting historical sites or doing anything that might catch my interest and (almost) always declining the invitations of my cousins and friends for "a big party". And now we're in our 30's, and all their parties memories kind of blur together. And there is so many things they want to do (and we do) but not gonna lie, it's a little more complicated now at 30. And they're always weirded out when they realise I might have experienced that already in our teens. One of them told me one day he wish he would have accompanied me more often.
We all have our definition of what's fun. People that want to party often, good, but being like the "weird kid" for not enjoying that, is something I never understood too. Of the things I regret partying almost never is not one of them.

@@ethereallune3992 I'm lonely too and it can weigh a lot on the heart sometimes. Especially because people come and go from my life. But what helps me is knowing there are people like us out there. Also the older I get the more I see that being introvert is a strengh and only felt the most like a burden during my teens. It has now brought some unexpected positives things along the journey of life 😊

Wow, as a fellow introvert, I totally saw my own persona instilled in her. I would've been acting with that exact same level of energy had I been in those interviews.
Introversion is absolutely under-appreciated, and in the past, many people have told me that I come off as being unapproachable, too quiet, needing to smile more, or even seeming angry (due to my "resting bitch face"). In retrospect, I thought something was wrong with me; I let others influence me into adopting that self-sentiment. However, the more time goes on, the more I embrace my introversion.
To all other introverts out there, you're great people; don't let societal prejudice tell you otherwise!

Introvertion and shyness often get confused as being the same thing which is a shame. I'm also a fairly confident person but also really introverted. Nice to know I'm not alone. 😊
@@TheLadyDelirium Same! I'm def not shy at all. I'm extremely social when I want to be and I'm not afraid to speak in front of people or be around lots of people I don't know. But I prefer small groups and I find socializing to be exhausting at the end of the day. I jokingly call myself a high-functioning introvert.

as an infj, I agree-looking at the cognitive function stack for infj, her ni dom is really strong, it is balanced out nicely by the ti (like you mentioned w precision,) and her compassionate nature comes out in the fe. what’s interesting to me is that the occupation of actor demands all of these things as well as a certain amount of se, which is infj’s weakest function, but she manages to compose it really well
@@yangcrates One thing to consider is we are not seeing her day to day self.. even the interview is a performance. We don't know how many interview she did prior for same promo tour, although she seems to react genuinely Ti.. her own truths and not the tribe (which she would remember to plug in the promotion as goal #1 for the groups sake).. Also, in regards to acting.. shes mentioned the importance of her preperation.. i imagine her to spend alot of time and focus on doing the homework.. shes def not the theatre-esque actress that can suddenly bust into song and dance! Actually she refused to sing in one interview without preparation first!
@@DreBars oh of course yeah!! all of this and that is based on her celebrity persona, which is what we're supposed to see. like you said, i'd imagine her to be very meticulous and dedicated, maybe less of the intj-esque focus but the infj leaning practice, sort of leaning into that role every day and all the time. haha i can see her doing that, about the singing, i haven't seen that but it would seem like her upholding a standard to herself

This makes me feel more accepting of myself as shy person. I kind of hated myself for being shy and I'm still working on that, but this video helps. I honestly don't really like it when people sing me Happy Birthday too. I know people do that out of love and kindness, but the attention is just a little too much for me most times.
