My favorite "hidden area" is in Auric Basin. On some of the HoT maps you can find Itzel playing instruments, and if you stand close enough to them the zone music is replaced by their music. The one located at The Falls is a personal favorite.
I adore these little areas you find in the game, it makes the world feel large, knowing there's still a bunch of these areas I've probably not found yet, really adds a sense of scope to the world
Zinn's cave in Tangled Depths, you can get an achievement by dancing there. You have to swim through a cave, then climb up a really narrow passage to get into the cave, and once you're in, you'll see a bunch of dancing hologram Asura. Also, look up the blue and yellow catmander mini/home instance cat/tag purchase areas. You get to them by doing some jump puzzles to get into two special areas. The yellow catmander area is a big multilevel cave behind a waterfall where quaggans are training kittens for battle. It's great!
Since there are so many places like this in the game, I feel like you could make this into a series of just showing of cool hidden spots in the game if you want. I know this was your top 10 and I'm not sying you should do a series. It was just an idea I had. I would probably have made videos about it myself if I could.
The inside of Bria's Manor in Iron Marches is very memorable to me, because my wife and I discovered it very unexpectedly. We had a pair of characters that we loosely role-played and when we signed off we'd first find a place to "sleep". When we were at the aforementioned house, which we couldn't get into, we decided it would be a good idea to sleep on the roof, to be less likely to be discovered by spiders and spirits, so we climbed up and parked our characters up there for the night. The next time we logged in, we found they had been moved into the previously inaccessible house interior, and were surprised to find the many children's bones scattered around the upper floor.
The entire Retrospective Runaround jumping puzzle is a fascinating hidden area. I played for years without noticing there is a jumping puzzle in the Silverwastes that can in fact be done before gliders and mounts. What a fascinating cave structure running underground an area that hundreds of people go farm for loot on the surface everyday.
that one was terribly hard before we had mounts 😀 I remember doing it with our guild with 2 or 3 mesmers and it took us hours (granted, that was a long time ago, our JP skills improved a lot since then 🙂)
not really too hidden or anything but one of my favorite places in guild wars 2 is the jumping puzzle at the southeastern part of caledon that you have to enter through a hole in the ground covered in foliage, then swim into the jp, but its got such a beautiful and comforting atmosphere that i find myself just hanging around in that cave very often
Man. This stuff is why I love the game. I watch alot of GW2 videos but most of it seems to be about balance patches, farm guides or pvp. That stuff isn't bad but what I care about are the exploration, sense of adventure, atmosphere, history and story. So to me this kind of video is what I really like to see. :D And yeah, from the moment I saw the video title, my mind went to the cave in the Grove. xD
Feel free to check out my lore videos and my other top 10 lists! All of this stuff are my favorite things about GW2 and I love to highlight then in my videos
the coolest spot i've been to in gw2 is the unfinished caledon jp 'cerebro', i saw it in a vid and had to explore it, it involves going somewhat out of bounds of the map to overcome the invisible walls but well worth the trek
I remember accidentally stumbling into the Forsaken Fortune mini-dungeon in Dredgehaunt Cliffs after another player opened the door. It's since then been one of my favorite mini-dungeons in GW2 (even though it takes quite some time to complete bc Gerrvid is slow). Also, whenever it's a daily achievement, there's never a shortage of players trying their best to attack the invulnerable skelk in the place.
In Blazeridges Steppes, under Behem's gauntlet, if you search in the lake where the veteran shark lurks around you can find a small alcove. Following along the underwater tunnel you go down quite the distance, then back up into a large cave with absolutely nothing ! No ressources, no enemies and (so far to me) no quest... Perfect hiddin spot if you ever need one ;7
Man, I have 100% world completion and like 1000 tomes of knowledge and a level 80 booster that I can't use because my character slots are full, but watching stuff like this makes me want to level a new character from the beginning just to encounter more of the world again.
Inside the ascalon dungeon, in the final boss area, go up some stairs and close to the top enter a tunnel behind some vines. You will enter a chamber with pillars connected by almost invisible paths, it looks a lot like the "path of god" from the Indiana Jones movie. To come out, just jump in the water and find the sewer pipe back to the main hall.
this should be on the list; did you know the hidden Quaggan village in desert borderlands in WVW? And if you break out of the map, in that same north west corner there is a giant writing on the ground left by the map dev. with "I see you =3"
Quite a few interesting spots I'd never seen in almost 10 years. The Strawberry Patch looks lovely. I never knew! I won't forget the Grove's Bamboo Garden since I won 1000G in a cosplay event at the end of 2020. ^ ~ ^ Blessings to Daijiki, for the last minute invitation.
holy shit thank you so much for this list, the #1 location I've never known about it even after 3 years or so of playing this game, and it's SO BEAUTIFUL. I cannot believe this place is from the core game AND from a starting city. I went to it as soon as I finished this vid, god it's gorgeous. I love this game so much 😭
Here's one for ya! Do you know about the weird deserted area over the gate just above the Foefire Heart waypoint in the Plains of Ashford near the Ascalon City Ruins? I found it before mounts or gliders. Had to use a revive orb to explore there at the time, made it feel really awesome!
My favorite hidden spot is in a district of Divinity's Reach. Go to Ossan's waypoint then head east along the fence. Directly north of the merchant and south of Minister Zamon's POI, jump over the fence there (you'll need a mount, Springer or Skyscale. Griffon would probably work too) in the SE corner of Ossan's Quarter. It's a little back garden with two npcs that have dialogue sometimes. There's two benches stacked on one another, the top one of which you're able to interact-sit on. It's so lovely and small, with no incentive to ever find it. It's my little treasured spot, please enjoy! As another fun secret (I love finding these kind of things in the game), if you talk to an Asuran npc in the College of Statics in Rata Sum, you'll get special dialogue if and only if you are an Asura from the College of Synergetics AND in the Order of Whispers
Loved the video! I think I knew everything but the boat in the Gilded Hollow. One place I stumbled across recently that really surprised me (I was VERY thorough on my first world completion) is this beautiful little grove in Bloodtide Coast that looks like an abandoned sylvari village. Got some great screenshots. If you want to check it out yourself, follow the map edge east of the hostile fort with the sugar pumpkin patch (south of the big pirate cave, northeast of Firthside Vigil Waypoint) and keep a keen eye out for openings in the rock wall; it's pretty easy to miss!
Not as much a hidden area, but an unused area of scrapped content. In Bloodstone Fen there is a really cool cave, that was never used. If you go to Depths of the Maw waypoint (it is the waypoint for Bastion of the Penitent raid) and if you stand straight before the raid portal and look up and left of the portal you will see a ledge which leads to the cave.
There is a cave in tangled depths that is so dark your screen is pitch black inside. I dont know where exactly it is because i accidentally fell into it one day. Once inside you need to navigate a tunnel to get out but you wont be able to see anything lol. I had to use the legendary torch to light the area under my feet to figure out where to go. The cave also has vampire bats and worms inside.
I remember the dark cave but I looked it up and someone shared that there is actually a hidden camp with a cat in it in that area that I didn't know about!
Not exactly a "hidden" place but: The statue of Dwayna in Martyr's Tomb in the west part of Harathi. I love the creepy atmosphere and the fact that you can kneel before the statue to start a small event with an Emissary of Dwayna. It's those little environment-based interactive elements (also: Bonegrinder's Gully in Queensdale)
Order of Whisper's secret base in Ebonhawke (I hope I didn't botch city's name too much) takes the cake for me. Quite hidden even though entrances are in plain sight, has npcs with dialogue.
Ebonhawke is awesome. Try attacking some of the chicken there 🙂 Or check out the cemetery, where some graves are placed (and decorated) in memory of GW2 players who died under sad circumstances...
Not core Tyria, but the hidden cave in Istan is absolutely beautiful. The only way I know to get in involves shenanigans with skyscale + Leap of Faith. But it's hard for me to believe we're not supposed to find it when there are two possible rich node locations in there, one for mithril and one for orichalcum. If anyone knows a way in that doesn't involve skyscale shenanigans, I'd love to know what it is. The part of the cave I really like is at 2:05 on this video (which I did NOT make, this is NOT me): ua-cam.com/video/mpvlJtfPyxg/v-deo.html
Awesome video! I have to say, everything about that pirate ship in the guild hall reminds me a LOT of the pirate ship in the movie The Goonies. I wonder if they took inspiration from that movie?
I need to look up the exact location but there is a random map portal in the north of I believe Brisban which you cannot access because of inivible walls that I only found recently because I went for a close vista via skyscale.. super intrigued what should have been behind it!
@Athis I know a place you might not know. There are actually 2 in the guild hall you visited. Theres a room with a kinda fist shaped crystal and there is a GIANT Valkyrie in there to check out as well!
@@Darkstar2342 The Valkyrie is deep under water, the throne room is up high across from a waypoint, the crystal room is behind a door that doesn't normally open, so you'll have to glitch inside and place a portal to get in and out. Then of course there is the desert, forest, and view of the tower, all inside the guild hall... You really get your money's worth choosing that hall more than any other one, including the EoD one.
My favorites are the two unfinished jumpicing puzzles, one in the end of the AC dungeon, the other leads to Cerebro and it hidden in the Sylvari starting area, you have to do some map breaking to get to that one though.
There's also an (unfinished) JP in the Tarir guild hall, in the north east area. You can "fix" it with some SAB cloud decorations but a large part of it is ready to be done without mounts or gliders. There's no clear goal/end though
I love all those areas sooo much! Thinking about my favourite little hiding spot is also a hard one as there are so many! What might interest you is that all those locations are Locations you can have to go for Guild Treks (Guild Missions). Even some of the Order of Whispers ones. Maybe check them out to find even more hiding spots :) And one of the reasons why I love to do guildmissions :D Oh yes! I think my favourite place not many know of is the last room in the Angvar's Trove Guild Puzzle (Guildmission).
0/10! I mean I had no idea about any of these areas haha. My favorite spot, though not as hidden as these, is the floating restaurant in the Crystal Oasis off the coast of Amnoon, at night.
Your video is very cool, lots of place I haven’t even heard of ! By the way your game looks very nice, do you have some special shader or is it just high graphic settings with a good sense of composition and video editing ?
Thank you! I don't use any shaders and just use the in-game graphics. I render my videos at 2560x1440 resolution which definitely improves things as well.
Idk if this is a hidden place, but the first HoT map. There's a place I can't reach, and idk know how to describe it. If I reach it one day I'll make a video on how I got there.
The helm is Pointed Ears, the shoulder is Luminous Heavy Pauldrons, the chest is Ornate Guild Breastplate, the other three body pieces are Runic Slayer armor pieces, and my back item is the Lion Captain's Cape.

I wonder if one hangs around the pirate ship long enough if the Goonies show up lol. Don’t mess with One-Eyed-Willie or you’re in for it.

Agreed, my guild calls the cave the Asuran Disco :)

oh right that one was creepy as hell :-D I loved this event

woah! I didnt know that the abbaddon statuue. im going there right now, thanks mate!
Great and fun guide to follow. May I though suggest you always show the minimap in the corner for location finding?
Just shows how much love was put into this game and that there is no mmo which can compare.

If you danced in the final fight in nightfall, abbadon would wipe the party. He was also behind everything in prophecies and factions.
7 years of playing and I didn't know about several of those, including the nice bandana. Great video!

Thank you for turning on the mini-map on the last location so I could go right to it. What a beautiful spot! (I would've NEVER found it)
Had many good memories in old Lion's Arch complex sewer system, as guildies and myself met there "in secret"
What an awesome video! I genuinely can't believe that I've played the game since launch and have never seen the underwater cave in Metrica.

I really enjoy the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance, such an atmospheric area.
I only stumbled upon #9 just recently too... love these kinds of nooks and crannies that surprise us years into the game.

why you call them ashura?
GW2 is difficult. Living World is harder.
Asura = the master race....we tolerate the rest of you for comic relief.
Many of these locations are part of stories and quests. Hardly "hidden".
