I agree. With a population that small it seems unlikely crime would be a serious issue. Then again, if ~7 new people showed up every week it's possible there were a couple bad eggs.
I love the concept - But those tunnel roads look awful once you start piling up buildings. 3-4 way connections on every single tile, and no traffic showing when you're zoomed out.
SergeiAndropov and the rebel would be space pirate and there is special 'natural disaster' which is that sand worm gone rampage it will be look like litterally 'Tropico in space', but i hope there is more new mechanic that make this more like 'Tropico in space upgraded big time'
I really like that the devs clearly said that releasing a game on steam for beta testing is a bad idea, and are limiting the beta testing sales to people who actually put 2 minutes of research into the game. Can't wait for the game to come out :D
Well, Tropico did have the space program. Maybe this game is set 100 years later, as brave Tropican explorers, scientists, and crime bosses take their first steps into the greater galaxy
This game looks very typical of the last few planet colonization games that just came out. It looks good. but it has nothing special and the long term gameplay will fall short. Too many game developers are trying to copy the same game setup and its just boring when it has good early game content but nothing for the mid or late game.Prehaps its time the developers actually created something new and amazing., not copy what other ones made the month before
That game looks interessting. Devs said they try to reales in early 2017. There will be no early acces on steam. But its wourth to keep an eye on this one!
A lot of colony building games lately. I suspect that next step will be adding some obstacles to your colony, than adding enemies, than multiplayer and... we will finish with RTS games :D I feel like the 90ties :D
I'm wondering how much longer this type of game is going to be regurgitated. Let's face it, there's enough of them to fill a dump truck and sadly many of them are identical in it's aims. Basically the only thing happening is they're getting prettier. I must admit I love them and will buy one when it's been around long enough for the bugs to have buggered off. Isn't it time someone took a stand and introduced something different. Keep the keeping the little people happy, but add something to break the monotony. Give us a spaceship and allow us to roam the planets and find one we can settle on, then when we need timber and our colony doesn't have access to it, we jump in a ship and go searching for it, set up another out station and freight the timber back home. Add an employment factor where you have to interview applicants to run your timber business off planet. OK maybe too much, but something, anything to make it's mark. Has anyone thought of writing a game like this which allows the player to add extras like the above and add them to the main game. I'm sure there are hundreds of options others can up with. What say you ?
So... the tv show "the 100" meets the 90's game M.A.X., combined with some Sim City and a bit of Tropico and Democracy, a lot of Offworld Trading Company... I'm in!!!
Mankinds first colony outside solar system and I can build recruitement buildings and trade posts? The plot is interesting, but demands a more harch survival scenario in my oppinion.
I really enjoyed Planetbase after being introduced to it here, but it was sorta minimal and didn't really go anywhere beyond the basics. Does this one develop any further, or is it just the same "keep building more of these basic buildings over and over" ?
I don't think you can leave buildings disconnected, because they all require workers, and the workers need to go through tunnels to reach them. A good mixture of intake fans and air filters spread out over the whole complex seems like the best plan
I don't know why, but it seems there's something missing in the survival aspect of the game. I'm guessing it's from typical survival games you start out with nothing, which here you need a starting kit due to the harsh environment, unlike earth.
I got one (from something from Disney, I believe it was Doctor Strange) that, not only could I not skip (spoiling the movie for me, so now I want to watch it even less), but they placed a rectangular annotation of the same dimensions and in the same place where the skip button would be, which redirected you to a place to buy tickets. I am totally fine with ads, but ads that try to scam me? Hell no, you go to hell, Doctor Strange. Your movie doesn't even look interesting. >8-/
I liked this game for a second but then i saw the dev page and thought it was bull shit, it was a 25$ game for a beta, and you don't get a steam key when released but an itch.io release version.Plus the dev basicly threatens "hey, btw its gonna cost more on release." This is why i torrent games.
This is literally the fourth "early alpha" space colony I've seen in the last week. I'm getting sick of it. Although this one looks like it's the best out of all of them, I may give it a try.
On their website it states that the full game release will be in early 2017, so anywhere from now to around April or May the game will be released on Steam or itch.io. However you can still play the beta right now if you go to their website and pay $25.
"Purchasing this beta does buy the full game upon release via itch.io, but please be aware that it does not grant a Steam key." Get it on the steam sale then? fuck it.
I'll give them credit, it's a good game. I just needs rebalancing. Yeah I know it's in beta and they are working on it. Sick of chasing power requirements....
Is it me or the interface is a cheap copy and paste from Cities: Skylines? I mean, for what I remember from the game it's exactly the exact same thing. Doing some research on Google, isn't the same publisher or developer so, am I right?
Sand worm? MELANGE! THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
BlackHoleEyes The ascendency of House Harkonnen! Bitch'n! XD
Just don't let anyone touch your heartplug.
SHAI-HULUD!
I was thinking the same.
Sandworms, you hate'em right? I hate 'em myself. - Beetlejuice
Can I expect a part 2? This is really interesting.
Don't think this was designed to do a play through. Just showing off a new game.
This actually looks like a futuristic Tropico, honestly it seems pretty good
Would love for you to continue with this game!
not even 200 people in the colony
already crimes ?
seriously ?
i guess someone did not do very good background checks
I agree. With a population that small it seems unlikely crime would be a serious issue. Then again, if ~7 new people showed up every week it's possible there were a couple bad eggs.
Could be a penal colony. :o
a priest from my country, Argentina, lived in a colony with 10 persons, he was killed and nobody knows who did it
+Rubi Wiliams well someone does
I love the concept - But those tunnel roads look awful once you start piling up buildings. 3-4 way connections on every single tile, and no traffic showing when you're zoomed out.
Yeah, every tile is an intersection.
i feel like banished just does this genre better.
See now, my copy of banished had huge bugs... i never got to really enjoy it.
This is basically Tropico with less Penultimo and more space thingy!!
This is gonna be good.... I hope......
I was just thinking how amazing it would be to have a military aspect to the game, with spehss mareens and orbital death rays and such.
SergeiAndropov and the rebel would be space pirate and there is special 'natural disaster' which is that sand worm gone rampage
it will be look like litterally 'Tropico in space', but i hope there is more new mechanic that make this more like 'Tropico in space upgraded big time'
El Presidente thought it would be best to leave his home and go expand his influence among the stars
It's like if Tropico and Planetbase had a baby. This is what would come out. Can't wait for it.
More of this please! Miss watching Quill play a colony building game.
I miss Outpost 2. This looks nice, but Outpost 2 was great.
The UI is identical to the one from Cities:Skylines.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought so.
Skylines UI is one of the simplest, very similar to other older games too.
it's because Cities:skylines was made in unity. this is probably made in unity too.
I thought so, too! I wondered whether it had been made by the same developer, but apparently not. Still, looks like a good game.
naw; aven colony was made in ue4
Oh a colony builder that is exactly like all other colony builders ever made? I can't contain myself!
Looks like a fun game. I like your commentary, quality of video/explanation and the volume you're using. You've got another sub.
Always interested in these let's try videos. Thanks for all the great content Quill!
I really like that the devs clearly said that releasing a game on steam for beta testing is a bad idea, and are limiting the beta testing sales to people who actually put 2 minutes of research into the game. Can't wait for the game to come out :D
Quill18, my daily source of finding new fun games
The game kind of reminds me of Anno series
Wow.. this is like a mix between Anno and Tropico. Looks really fun.
Meh. I'm fine with a play through. You and colony games are such a good match.
I'm just waiting for El Presidente to show up ! :P And penaultimo.
Well, Tropico did have the space program. Maybe this game is set 100 years later, as brave Tropican explorers, scientists, and crime bosses take their first steps into the greater galaxy
If that was true the colonist would have already taken over the city because for some random reason they have a problem with you.
This game looks very typical of the last few planet colonization games that just came out. It looks good. but it has nothing special and the long term gameplay will fall short. Too many game developers are trying to copy the same game setup and its just boring when it has good early game content but nothing for the mid or late game.Prehaps its time the developers actually created something new and amazing., not copy what other ones made the month before
What are these games you mentioned? I've played Rimworld, and hoping to play others.
Seems very similar to Planetbase with slight variations to structures but gameplay is very similar.
thats what i was thinking, how does this compare to planetbase?
Like Anno
It looks like it has a lot more advanced options than Planetbase.
I hope @Quill18 will make more videos of this game. I really enjoyed it =)
UI looks easy to read, so that's nice. Buildings look kind of like Space Colony, witch is a dam good game.
That game looks interessting. Devs said they try to reales in early 2017. There will be no early acces on steam. But its wourth to keep an eye on this one!
REMOVE THE FOOD RATIONING PLEASE!! I AM GETTING HUNGRY JUST BY THINKING ABOUT IT!!!! :(
Classic Quill, watching some of his Big Pharma videos other day and some of the things he does in those is cringe worthy.
yea it was frustrating that he was going on that food was good and he never turned of rationing
A lot of colony building games lately. I suspect that next step will be adding some obstacles to your colony, than adding enemies, than multiplayer and... we will finish with RTS games :D I feel like the 90ties :D
9:00 oh that's a cool looking sand worm!
Quickly coming up to release, 7/25! Already pre-ordered :)
I'm wondering how much longer this type of game is going to be regurgitated. Let's face it, there's enough of them to fill a dump truck and sadly many of them are identical in it's aims. I want a part 2 I love these types on games!
That giant sand worm is giving me flashbacks to multiplayer games of Civ: BE.
It's sim city circa 1989, base building games are my favourite genre but waiting for them I am only going to live for so long.
I would really love to see you do a let's play of this
Sci-fi is my favourite Genre! Nice Video
Great play through!
Game seems alright, I don't like how buildings connect to roads tho, just make them with one point of connection with the possibility of turning.
This game looks really nice, hope it is as good.
So... the tv show "the 100" meets the 90's game M.A.X., combined with some Sim City and a bit of Tropico and Democracy, a lot of Offworld Trading Company...
I'm in!!!
Might actually buy this game, it looks really cool! :)
Mankinds first colony outside solar system and I can build recruitement buildings and trade posts? The plot is interesting, but demands a more harch survival scenario in my oppinion.
Bliss? Sounds a lot like Soma...
I imagine it's supposed to
They had bliss in some recent sci-fi shows.
Is that the same name from the Margaret Atwood series Oryx and Crake?
I really enjoyed Planetbase after being introduced to it here, but it was sorta minimal and didn't really go anywhere beyond the basics. Does this one develop any further, or is it just the same "keep building more of these basic buildings over and over" ?
this kinda reminds me of that other spacy colony building game that quill used to play...
This looks like a more advanced version of Outpost 2. I'll have to try it out.
Looks like Outpost :) I loved that game.
Had enough of the barley? OK, here's broccoli. Geeze you hate those colonists.
when will any of these games EVER come out of pre-release?
Maybe not connecting geothermal plants to the rest of the colony would help with air quality? Or are the other game mechanics to worry about?
I don't think you can leave buildings disconnected, because they all require workers, and the workers need to go through tunnels to reach them. A good mixture of intake fans and air filters spread out over the whole complex seems like the best plan

I just got a two minute long ad that I couldn't skip.Sleepless better be incredible.

>8-/
The worse ad I've had was a 5 minute ad, I just hit the refresh button in the browser to skip the ad for a better 1
Please do more of this game most (if not all) of the other commentators that do this game aren't as good as you.
OMG FINALLY i is playing this game i really hope he makes a serious out of this.
Don't mind me, was just checking to see if this game was "OutPost 3" worthy. It is not. I will love a spiritual sequel to OutPost 2.
looks interesting, maybe I'll give it a try
It looks like a much more developed version of Planetbase. Very awesome!
I liked this game for a second but then i saw the dev page and thought it was bull shit, it was a 25$ game for a beta, and you don't get a steam key when released but an itch.io release version.Plus the dev basicly threatens "hey, btw its gonna cost more on release." This is why i torrent games.
Finally another lets try
very good voice and diction...fun to follow along.
Who like this game can also try Planetbase. Its 95% like this game. Or Rimworld. Its more complex.
I'm getting a very big Tropico in space vibe from this. At least it will be easier to shove those pesky rebels to the sand worm.
How does the game work if you are not online, do you run into a risk factor of low production or even damage ?
This is literally the fourth "early alpha" space colony I've seen in the last week. I'm getting sick of it. Although this one looks like it's the best out of all of them, I may give it a try.
to be honest (in my opinion) this game seems slightly more entertaining than Civ6
part2 pleaseee
I think it will lack that amount of replay value though.
This is like Anno 2205 Colony Edition. Please tell me that you don't have to subscribe to another site to play it?
Already thinking of crafting or better yet, bio-engineering a giant robin to eat that Sandworm.
I LOVE THIS GAME!
one thing, how is the rice surviving the un inhabitable air?
Planetbase with a different look O.O
This looks interesting, any information about the release day? I hope it'd be as complicated as anno 2070, or even close to it :D
On their website it states that the full game release will be in early 2017, so anywhere from now to around April or May the game will be released on Steam or itch.io. However you can still play the beta right now if you go to their website and pay $25.
Ah, Sips and Quill. Filling my subscription needs for this genre :D
(Less dickripping here tho!)
will this game come to steam?
love this game
is this game available on steam?
"Purchasing this beta does buy the full game upon release via itch.io, but please be aware that it does not grant a Steam key."
Get it on the steam sale then? fuck it.
Yes it is important to remember that since game of thrones winter is no longer aproaching it is now coming.
Updated version of Utopia from NES
So this is a mix between Tropico and Planet Base.
I mean if they are serious about making this throw it up for prerelease on steam
This looks like Tropico... IN SPACE!!!!
Will we see this game on steam?
May I suggest Rimworld. You will not believe the drama in that game.
Is this single player or do you need to join a group like a league ?
simcity 2013's UI has become a standard
This made by the City: Skylines people? Because the main UI along the bottom looks like a copy paste job. It looks exactly the same.
Is that a bad thing? Especially if people liked it?
Hasn't he played this before??
Edit: or was it EE who played it? Argh, my memory sucks.
EE made a small series about this.
yessss it doessss :P
Who is EE?
lol
Enter Elysium?
will this game be available on steam ?
I'll give them credit, it's a good game. I just needs rebalancing. Yeah I know it's in beta and they are working on it. Sick of chasing power requirements....
They get unhappy about rationing, but I bet they will be even more unhappy when they starve!
This is basically a Sci-Fi Tropico.
This game is based on PlanetBase game ideas but looks a wee better than PlanetBase.
why do i allway get no sound with quill
Nice game
Definetly wurth a let's play
Quill really enjoy yours Lets Try, can you make a video of Life is Feudal: Forest Village? thanks for all the hours of fun!
I thought sandbox means you could put anything you want down
has this game been released?
awesome the stellaris 2.0 !!
Is it me or the interface is a cheap copy and paste from Cities: Skylines? I mean, for what I remember from the game it's exactly the exact same thing. Doing some research on Google, isn't the same publisher or developer so, am I right?
Solid vid. Subbed
Woah, the building menu looks like Cities: Skylines.
Is it just me or does the layout and menu look like from Cities: Skylines?
try playing subsistence a survival game made by one person.
