Rich. I live in a senior community and also taught in the community. I often share your videos with a friend who has just purchased a new iOS device. Your voice and simplicity make it easy for us to learn. You’re a great communicator. By the way, love the dog laying down near you. Thanks
Ha! I didn't notice Scout until I was editing the video. He's usually interrupting me. But this time he was asleep! Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Glad the videos are helpful.
After years using both Windows/Linux, I am burned out with technology and decided to switch to an Apple Eco system. Going to Apple from a technical environment was harder that I thought. Then I found your channel and it helped me get started using an Apple environment, which made understanding/adapting to Apple's UI much easier. Thank you.
I have a new iPad. I have an old Mac mini. I got an off brand iPad pencil (inexpensive) and case with keyboard (also inexpensive) and love it all. Thank you for your videos. I’m not a senior, but your videos are better to understand than a lot of others out there. 👍😁
Even though these great videos are intended for seniors, I dare say it allows us to feel young and share ideas with family and friends of all ages. Thanks so much. I look forward to every video and enjoy using them for reference as needed afterwards.
Rich, I'm also a woodworker and a follower of Norm Abram. I've built several pieces based on his plans over the years. As for my computer setup, I do something similar but I have my iPad on a stand next to my Mac mini and I use Universal Control to switch between them. That way, I'm only using one keyboard and mouse for both devices. It's also great because I can copy something from the iPad and then just move the cursor (and control) to the Mac and paste it there. With Universal control, the iPad is not an extension of the Mac (I also have an extended display using a second 27" monitor) but rather a separate device which is controlled by the same keyboard and mouse/trackpad.
Great point! I use Universal Control all the time. I've even got an extension arm to hold my 11" iPad near my Apple Studio Display. I'm glad there's a least one viewer the remembers Norm!
I have something similar. I’ve got an L-shaped desk, but one section of it is where I keep all of my pens papers sticky notes and I do my Bible study on and then I swivel around and I look at my big Mac desktop and then over to the side, I have my iPad on a stand where I can do business and personal stuff both of the same time so you’re not switching back-and-forth on one device so if anyone’s looking to do something, I highly recommend setting up your iPad as a second computer like he has done here. It’s a great suggestion.
Try Universal Control. It allows you to have your iPad as a separate computer but you control both the Mac and the iPad with the same keyboard and mouse/trackpad. You just move the cursor 'through' the side of the Mac and it appears on the iPad. That also signals that the keyboard is switched to the iPad as well. You can then search or do whatever you want on the iPad and then just move the cursor back to the Mac, and the same keyboard is then in control of the Mac. I really like it because it allows me to search something on the iPad and copy a passage, then move to the Mac and copy it in one simple motion.
I’m glad you share your experience, especially how it shows how you design your life. It’s purposeful and I think therefore freedom-inducing. Anyway. I enjoy your channel and your presentations a lot.
Loving this for seniors. I need all the help I can get. I am curious as to how to access all the videos from the first one. There’s a lot to learn. Thanks
You have a beautful setup there - what a great work area - it can't help but make you more productive. I just recently got an iPad (I got my iPhone a few months ago), and I'm learning something new almost every day. Your videos have been very helpful. I'm also old-school, in that I use a desk calendar organizer. I can't get away from making notes all over it.
Ha! Sometimes nothing beats pen and paper. And I'm not going to change to digital in all cases unless it really makes sense. Which it never does. Thanks for the kind words!
I absolutely love your videos. I’m just stopping by to say, just like you, I still use a notepad and pen/pencil even though Apple Notes basically runs my life. Great video!, Also, great job on making your desk. Beautiful workmanship.
Help. I started using Remember This after watching your video. In the last two days a get an error message both on my iPad and iPhone 14. It occurred at around the same time I updated to iOS 17.2. But I’m not sure it’s related to the update. Are you experiencing the same? Any suggestions for me? Thanks.
I need to receive phone calls on my iPad from iPhone. Had it set up and I did something and I’m not sure what. Now not able to receive or send messages to no iPhone users. HELP
I'm not sure what's going on without being able to see your iPhone and iPad. If it just suddenly stopped working, you might try turning off both devices then turning home back on. Sometimes that resets issues. Wish I could help more!
Believe me or not: You are a God sent. Thank you for helping us seniors. Thank you🎉
Happy to help! So glad you find my videos helpful.

Thanks for sharing!! I've got an off-brand pencil and case too and they both work really good. My next video is about how I bought a used iPhone SE!

Well said!

Inspires me on using my Chromebook’s & setting up a docking station with accessories in my home office.

@@mikephotos225 i actually
Have the logitech that is supposed to do that. I like having a speed set up like he does
Thank you for producing video tutorials for seniors. We certainly need them.
Thank you for sharing how you use technology.
My pleasure! It really takes time and effort to make these videos and receiving a kind word like this is so encouraging. Thanks!

Thanks so much. I don't make too many videos like this because I never know if anyone will find them helpful. I'm so glad you did!
Love your set up for your ipad and mac

Thank you Rich. I love my 12.9 pro. But screen had to be replaced. Great setup.
What happened to your screen? Yes, this is the best iPad I've ever owned. Thanks so much for watching!
@@RichBowlin it started to get horizontal lines running through the whole screen. I guess it had to do with the LED light. it was all on the inside.
Great information

Wow, I must say that set-up is really impressive! It looks like you've put a lot of thought and effort into it.
I did, actually. In this case, form and function kind of came together. Anyway, I'm loving it so far. Thanks for the kind comment.
That desk is great! And the whole set up is nice too!
Thanks! So far so good!
Awesome setup! Thanks for sharing.

Wow. Thanks. So far I'm loving the layout and how it's working.
Not sure if this is a stupid question but why 2 HomePods? 4:21
Stereo! They sound great. Not a stupid question as a lot of folks don't know that you can set them up as stereo pair.
Great video … thx for sharing a “behind the scene”
You're welcome. I don't make many videos like this but though I'd give it a try this go around. Thanks so much for watching!
love to hear about your audio speaker setup, sometimes YT videos are just too low for these old ears.
Sure! Those two yellow HomePod Minis are setup as a stereo pair within the Home app. They sound great and no more iPad speaker!
All you need is a $6,000.00 set of hearing aids.
I can never seem to find your links in the videos, how do you find
If you're watching on an iPad, tap "more" under the video window and the links will pop up on the right side of the screen. Hope this helps!

I'm investigating...A number of people have mentioned this and I'm wondering if the update broke the Widget. I''ll report back if I find something.
