Thanks for posting. This may be a problem I'm having a g As leak under my engine. I have a 6.0 engine in a 2003 Escalade. I went down to the garage and gas was on the floor under the engine. I looked at the fuel rails no moisture or gas smell around them. But the leak looked like it came mostly from the left side of the engine according to what was on the floor. Any other possibilities? I'll go check this regulator now but just in case I'd like other tips if possible. Also should I be concerned that this may cause other problems with the fuel system, like should I be concerned with the fuel lines or any gaskets, seals o rings in the lines as well as the fuel injectors. Could injector clogging cause this as well?
I have a question regarding thios because I have the 2004 4.8 Liter Chevy Tahoe. I am getting the fuel smell with the vehicle running. My issue is the 20094 and later don't have a regulator by the fuel rail. I thought it was my vehicle so I checked my Haynes manual and it said with 2004 and later to drop the fuel tank. Is there a regulator in the fuel tank or do I measure the pressure at the rail on the Schrader valve on the passenger side and if jumpy or high or low do I replace the furl pump? Do I need to check the injectors, check electrical for the injectors or what's the procedure? I'd like to get this fixed as I'm worried that unburned fuel could be dumping into the engine and possibly be causing further engine damage or am I fine in that area? ANy help would be greatly appreciated as we have snow coming and this is our 4wd dad taxi for the kids and wife in snowy weather. Thanks!
Whoa! I picked up a dead 94 Sonoma with the 4.3 CPI injection. Spent $700 in parts (new injector, starter, did a tune-up and got it running. Once it warmed up it had no oil pressure. The old injector washed down one side of the intake plenum (terrible design!) so it must’ve diluted the oil enough to self destruct. Had I only known... Sold it a week later, didn’t have the time to fix it.
Just a note to everyone - you're not screwed if you breathe Halon. You can exhale it just as easy as you inhale it. As with any denser-than-air gas. So don't panic :)
Thanks Brian...great tips (saved me a lot of time and probably prevented a fire on my Daughters Suburban!)
wow! I never seen a leak that bad... great video, especially the tips about Halon... that stuff is definately no joke.
great vid. never seen one leak on one of these engines. was always on older cavaliers with 2.2l engines. great tip about the halon.

@Zmart032 yep.
Damn! that made me Say Holy Shit out loud
I once had two bad FP Regulators on a Pontiac I repaired. The third one was good.
Awesome to know how dangerous that Halon can be
Most likely. Yes.
Halon is R12, that is why you can not buy it anymore. A CO2 extinguiser will work just as well.
Damn !!!

+Blank Reg Suspicious...... still, don't try it at home.
+briansmobile1 I've watched that stuff just hang out in a bowl for a long time. It's heavier than air and really makes oxygen useless to fire.
Wow
Yikes ,!!
I replaced my fuel pump wouldn't start replaced regulater no leaks but still have gas smell soon as I turn my key on b4 starting any suggestions
damn
That's a lot better
What engine is that 5.3?
