I was having problems with my traction control and stabilitrak as well as having engine misfires causing a rough idle. I was going to change the sparks plugs and wires then tackle the other issues later but after watching this video I got hopeful that this may fix both issues. I changed the spark plugs and wires over the weekend and all my traction control/stabilitrak issues were all resolved. Great video, I like to watch video's that explain in depth how control systems operate which make it clear how issues relate to each other.
Awesome, thanks for watching and glad you got the car fixed! A lot of videos out there just say "change your spark plugs" but the more you understand why you need to change your spark plugs the more you learn so we try to keep everything as informative as we can.
@@danielvargas3208 I changed the spark plug wires, one broke when taking it off the plug and one was damaged because it was rubbing on something. Make sure that you retain the heat shields and put them on the new plug wires, they just slide off the end of the end and are easy to save. No matter what anyone says, they are essential to prevent the rubber from being damaged by being too close to the exhaust manifolds.
thank you so much for a such a thorough video. At first I was thinking, "this dude is just gonna talk the whole time and not show me how to fix it?" Now I'm grateful you did! Thank you so much bro!
Once you understand how the system works, you then can begin to diagnoses problems so much easier. Toyota systems are simaliar in the way they function. The VSC system warning lights come on when there is a fault in the Engine Control system by default.
@@8020Media Yes. It's extremely unsafe to drive. The truck will stop without notice.. Also the dealership never know what's wrong even though the vehicle is running like shit. I guarantee they know what's wrong with your car at the dealing with thousands with the same problem. They should be sued
great video; i was fighting this gremlin for several months with my local dealer accusing us of applying the brake and accelerator simultaneously as the cause. My issue made the car difficult to drive in that when those lights came on and i tried to accelerator more than a snails pace, the car would really hesitate and jerk, almost like the ABS system was kicking in and fighting the engine. Oh, and the brake lights were on all the time too. finally took it to a different dealer in a different state and they replace the brake switch...$24 part...and boom, all is well.
DJ - Unfortunately, that's all it takes sometimes. It can be a very simple fix, like your example, or can be a very complex fix which will not only cost a lot for diagnoses, but also parts and labor. Glad to hear your issue is resolved!
@@djslais awesome, I found it for 10 bucks on Amazon, hopefully that does it, and it's literally only one little bolt and plug in and rebolt... I was hoping it wasn't a transmission problem. Just the abs light and stability lights come on, then jerks above a certain rpm. my battery is on its way out, I heard that cause cause a similar issue too.
I had Stabilitrak issues that were triggered by a bad battery. I had the battery checked at the local auto parts store, and it had low beginning wattage. Once replaced, we had no more Stabilitrak issues.
Saving this to reference later because it seems like this is a problem I might run into a lot looking at the comments. Thanks for sharing, now I have somewhere to start to try and fix the issue with my ‘07 Yukon.
I've been struggling with the ABS/Traction Control/Stabilitrack warning lights for months now. I just recently discovered that the OBD reader tool I was using was just not up to the task. Since I'm not keen on trying fixes not knowing what is really broken I invested in the Telematics Bucktec 430 which is really up to the task. It found that it was my left rear speed sensor that was the culprit saving me $150 in parts and the effort needed to find the real culprit. The device cost me $60 and empowered me to be able to cut through the BS when dealing with sketchy repair shops. Thankfully, I'm mechanically minded enough to handle regular maintenance tasks such as this on my own. It all comes down to having the right tools.
This light has popped up on the dash of my 2017 Impala. I searched for your too (Telematics) on Amazon (Canada), but alas, not available. Can you tell me where you got yours? Or if there is another brand that checks this? My local GM ''stealership'' quoted me 400$ just to check for the fault/code.
@ Long story. I’ll be as brief as possible. It began as I was slowing to get off a 70 mph highway. Negotiating a left turn, truck fainted dead away. There was a brief flash of an error message that said to service Stabilitrack system. I turned off the key, and restarted it with no issue. After parking in my driveway overnight, truck was dead. Like dead battery dead. Went inside and pondered a couple minutes. Decided to try it again and see if any lights were working. Yes, they were. Got another message saying to put the driver’s window all the way down and back up again. Vehicle should start. It did. When I explained it to my regular service garage, they referred me to a dealer. Dealer plugged into the computer and for $195, told me they would begin by replacing the top panel of the fuse box under the hood for $950. I did this myself 6 yrs ago for $250. Then, I had a flat tire from something that split my rt front one on Florida’s turnpike. Spare was useless. Walmart had one $175. There are sensors inside the tires that are part of that Stabilitrack system. There are 3 systems that come together under the Stabilitrack system as a whole. Final fix was when I was referred to an auto electrical specialist nearby, luckily. He asked if everything went out when it died. The radio, time, etc. YES! He checked the positive battery terminal connection. There was 90% rust and 10% where there was actual connection. He used a special drill to clean it out, $180, and I haven’t had a lick of trouble for 3 weeks now. I also had my regular garage door a front brake job/oil change during that time ($500). My opinion is the terminal cable was the main culprit and very bad brakes in the front were secondary.
Thanks for the Super informative video. I think I just fixed my issue with traction control. It turned out to be a dirty MAF sensor. Cleaned it up and the check engine light turned off instantly! Also no more "service stabilatrack" message!! Let's see what happens but for now I'm happy!! I'll keep it clean from now on and if it happens again I'll know exactly what I'm looking for first!! Again I salute you Captain 🫡
One of the best videos i've watched , you did an excellent job of explaining in detail on each item and gave multiple choices on what to check , huge thank you
How to fix the Stability tracking issue - First : Make sure the brake pads are not locked due to heat or dirt extension- 2) Make sure the battery is charging normally and doesn't run out quickly (short to ground-) 3) Make sure no misfiring- 4)The last one - the mysterious one - is that the starter in your car must be rechecked for short to ground- The brushes inside the starter is causing short to ground- you must replace the starter or fix the brushes and clean up the starter from debris - Explained: At high load the current passes from ground terminal to positive terminal within the starter due to the broken brushes even the starter works normally
Thanks gonna try them because it’s causing my suv to now come on saying change trans oil too never seen that and I’ve had quite a few different types of cars… but idk if I was taken care of just bought it but when purchased they said no light and didn’t at first 3 days later when I got it legally on the road here they all come… but regardless main issues it’s slowing down the car terribly and seems like it’s not shifting correctly! It was a quite purring kitty like me but then started fighting back meaning pulling and the shifting thing and even when first started it’s more like a growl now lol 🤪 she’s loud now so idk if with some of this and the lil details I’ve noticed if maybe you had similar and recommended maybe out of those steps which worked for you!!! Hello, I replaced my rear pads on the old rotors and I am feeling pulsing under breaking at high speeds from the rear. I am assuming the pads are getting too hot. Do you think this could cause the code?
@xyz20121000 well your advice was spot on 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 in my case it was the infamous starter and I had to turn around and replace the fuse as well so thank you so much 😊 😀 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
New subscriber. Just picked up a '13 Equinox. Zero rust. Drove it from Vagas to MN. Was concerned about oil consumption, but it didn't use any on the trip. Got the stabilitrak warning. Will ve working on solving this issue. Thank you for the tips! Will definitely check out your site.
@@bwalters413 yes I did! A previous repair had a broken three tab washer that went in between the wheel bearing and axle. This washer was off center. It cut the wheel speed sensor! 2016 Impala: I had my trans flushed in May 2022, started having issues in June. One time i drove 30 mins, got out and went to lock the car, didnt hear it lock. Got in went to start, nothing, dead. Felt the battery cable, little warm. 5 mins later, starts right up. No issues for a few weeks. Then started getting u0101 code. Had the battery checked, they deemed it bad. Replaced it in July 2022. Started getting the Service Stabilitrak message, with traction control light, check engine, and electric brake service light. If I started the car and all these were on, when I shifted from park to reverse it would slam into gear. If I then went to drive, it didnt want to move. If the lights went on when i was driving faster speeds, once i came to a stop it would not let me take off. It was as if the car was in a limp mode. I took it in last Thursday, they said the battery was bad. I told them I have a warranty. They said they changed it and there were no issues after test driving it. I picked it up, drove to less than 5 miles before it happened again. I dropped it right back off. The next day they called and said the CAN was not communicating with the TCM. The Chevy dealer deemed the TCM bad and said replacing it will fix the issues. The technician stated that when he removed the TCM plug there was some fluid inside the connector. They ended up changing the TCM for $1100. I have less than 300 miles on the car since I picked it up. Guess what happened today? Yep Service Stabilitrak light, tractions control light, check engine light, and service electric brake light. Called the dealer, the harness might be bad. This is a Chevy dealer, the #1 in Illinois. Are we just guessing? Just spend thousands hoping to find the right fix? Nightmare.....
@@oshrobertson9372 if you are having intermittent issues, make sure they find the root cause before changing any parts. I have still not resolved my issues.
The problem at the dealership is that they have very few techs with experience because they don't want to pay much and this is what you get... Inexperienced techs straight out of tech school and have training but little to no hands on experience so most of their diagnostic skills are on zero... Take it to an independent mom and pop shop that has a good reputation and an experienced tech on duty and I can almost guarantee you they will fix it right the first time... 70% of dealership service are hack techs. Good luck to you! 😊👍
I have no CEL, no symptoms of anything wrong and all of a sudden stabilitrak/traction control kicks off on the highway causing what feels like misfires or the abs being activated when trying to accelerate. I pull over and turn the Traverse off for 30 seconds and all is good for another 80 miles. Once in drive i do turn off TC which has helped me get further down the road before more issues. I was going to look at the wheel speed sensors but i guess its not that since no CEL. Great video

Yes! Very helpful. I have a 2010 impala I just bought recently after my sentra was totaled. This only has just under 20k miles on it. I've only had it for a couple of months and for the first time today I was driving and I got the "service traction control" and "engine reduction" messages along with what I like to call the "slid light" and the check engine light as well. Thankfully I found my flashers and was able to get the car home but it CREPT at about 5 miles an hour if that. Parked it and went back to check later and the only issue left is the check engine light but everything else seems to be fine. I will say that I need to put air in the tires soon and I get a fluctuating tire pressure monitor system alert from time to time so maybe that had something to do with it. Scared me so much but after watching your video I am much calmer. Thank you!
hello there i have the same problem with my traverse 2016 the dashoborad goes on and off all with the gauges, service TC and stabilitrak come up and the engine light
Here is a new twist. My light came on after a routine oil change and tire rotation. Previously, all was normal. I was driving my truck and noticed a distinct pull to the left. Again, there was no issue before the oil change. When I took the truck to my local tire shop, the owner immediately hand checked my front tires and said the right front tire had a bubble. I would not have known it, but upon inspection, it was true! The tread height was off and I could feel the difference. The truck is used for longer trips instead of local ones. The tires were 10 years old. I replaced them all ( cringe). The truck drives straight and th3 warning light stays off.
My truck runs fine even with all of the lights staying on. So instead of replacing the 200 possible things it could be, I'm just going to leave it alone. Been fine for almost 2 years now.
Ron - Thanks for sharing your experience. Everybody has different preferences. We personally don’t love seeing warning lights on the dash. However, if it is running fine with no issues, to each their own.
I just spent upwards of $1700 fixing my Chevrolet Malibu LTZ and everything ran perfectly until two days later. The check engine light is back on and now my dash display reads "SERVICE STABILITRAK". I consulted with the shop and they informed me that turning the Traction Control and Stabilitrak off would solve the problem as far as the hesitating and bad idling. Also driving the vehicle without TC and Stabilitrak would not damage it... I was told to drive carefully and keep the car's oil changed and tuned up as anyone should. I've been driving without TC & Stabilitrak for a solid week now with no troubles. I'll eventually go to my Chevy dealership to have the issue fixed when my budget will allow it but for now I'll just have to drive it as is and pray for the best. I believe everything should be alright.

This happened to be in my way to work this morning. Complete loss of power, got pulled over and basically tuned it on it off a few times, nothing. Thank you for the information, my transmission is slipping and my truck usually is running on bad gas so it makes sense that the rpm’s would cause the lights to
Thank you, and it's working well. I'm not going to overdo it because that could lead to something really being wrong going overlooked. The thing is this has been happening with my car for over five years, and I would go under the hood and shake a few things, and it would work fine for three to six months at a time.
Hi Jake, great video!! 2013 Chev Imp 3.6 w/182K mi. No CEL or TPMS, only stabilitrak light activated. In addition car reportedly idles rough but drives ok. Just to confirm, I should check plugs, fuel filter & throttle body? Car is at auction and I'm thinking about bidding on it. Thank you.
Can bald tires cause stabiltack to break? I know I need tires, but When I am turning the wheel sharpe to pull into a parking spot, my truck automatically breaks and it pushes the wheel straight, I’m turning at 2-3mph
My stabilitrack came on about a week ago, and soon after the check engine came right behind it. I drive a 2016 Chevy Malibu, took it to my mechanic ( Jeff Gordon service department ) and they basically told me I would need to drop 10k on an engine. That didn’t seem to right to me, and keep in my mind I don’t know shit about cars really. So after a couple of days i decided to go take my car back and have another mechanic look at it. He Put a new part in and gave me some Techron and it fix the problem. Lol I mean the light came back on after a day or so but he told me wait until the fuel injection reaches the engine to see if it’ll helps. So rn im just seeing if this helps, but if not i know what to suggest. So I thank you sir

Good video, great explanation. Bottom line, after my lights just popped on last night and watching this video...I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START...holy cow..
Water in the fuel from the pump is my issue. I have had "service stabilitrac/traction control" Every time I get a water contminated tank full. It causes the engine to stumble thus triggering the shutdown of traction control and stabilitrac. It is totally ridiculous and criminal that GM/Chevy would cause a compromise of engine performance due to this issue Recently gasoline quality has suffered with excess water at the gas pump. I have had to spend a lot of $$$ for fuel dryers in the recent months here in N. California. Buy good gas. Use fuel dryers. NOTE TO READERS: SUPREME grade gas does not have enough ethanol to absorb water. So you need an additive like HEET or SEAFOAM.
I certainly will never go with another stabilitrak vehicle. Every vehicle has its own problems, but this has been ridiculous! Going on 5 years of CONSTANT problems with this. 2018 chev rado
My 2021 Suburban with less than 50,000 miles Stability Light and Check Engine started flashing after I gave it a good wash. I’m even getting a little misfire and shake at stops. It done it for a whole afternoon. Guess I will be troubleshooting! Thanks for the vid!
Yes, i tried changing the coil pack the diagnostic showed but they didn’t fix it so I changed back to the old one and I took it back to the dealership and one of my lifters were bad. It’s still under warranty so they removed the head they changed them all on that side of the engine!
Thanks for the video, lost to consider on my Traverse. I can not dive it for a couple days & everything resets, then the other day made a short trip (an hour or so away) then traction control and service Stabilitrak lights came back on. Also when those lights are on, starting to accelerate starts to skip; more at 60-65 mph briefly. Your thoughts 🤔 Can not drive for a Day everything resets & is fine until the next time.
Glad I found this. Mine pops up then turns off almost immediately. It also seems to only happen when it’s hot outside. It won’t do it during the winter.
This video is very helpful. I'll start checking those things and use your list. I'm not getting a check engine light but my truck will get stuck in Park. Weird thing, if I rock it back and forth it will then go into gear. If I put the parking break on then put the truck into park usually when I get back in and put the truck in gear and then take the parking break off I'm fine. Super weird so I'll just have to keep trying.... thoughts?
Hey Leslie - based on the fact that rocking it works it could be the parking pawl. Alternatively, the shifter interlock solenoid or brake switch could be bad too. Putting the parking brake on first then putting it into park is the solution to get around issues with the pawl. But checking and fixing the pawl is a bit more difficult since it sits within the transmission, so check the other two first. Brake switch is the easiest to check.
Maybe if you're on an incline or decline torque lock can be occurring on the parking brake spindle in the transmission. I was told to apply the ebrake in neutral and take the ebrake off in neutral to prevent the shifter from locking up.
I have a 2009 Acadia and both the TC and stabilitrack lights are on. And just recently it won’t get over 20mph and no check engine lights. I replaced the throttle body and Mass airflow sensor pcv valve and noticed oil. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Service stabilitrak comes on in the summer only, only thing u mentioned that can be affected by heat is the tpsm, it does have the the afm deactivated, so im looking at those two, thanks for the video
Check your Air filter too make sure your engine isn't struggling for air, Id Run some fuel injector cleaner through your car, clean your throttle body.
I only get this error message when I first run my car and it is cold outside AND only when im giving it gas. Stops if im coasting. I live in snow country. once the truck warms up it stops giving me the dash notification. So frustrated. Maybe you have a suggestion?? Also...awesome video. Gave me alot to think about and I've been researching this issue for over a year now. Thanks!!
Are you having any rough idle or sputtering issues when it's cold and your on the throttle? It could be a bad plug or coil but guessing you've already looked into that. I'd recommend looking into the idle control valve if you haven't. Let me know if you have any other symptoms and I can try to narrow it down but if there aren't any noticeable symptoms then it can be challenging to diagnose which is the biggest issue with the stabilitrak lights...
Same here, mine is only happening when I first started my car and it's cold outside. Never happened when pumping gas. I notice it will be idling rough when the light is on then when it goes away the car doesn't shake anymore.
Hello everyone; Thanks for the Good video. In my case ; It happens only when it's cold or below normal, Engine Temperature indicator WON'T pass the 2nd mark which is next to C. I would assume it's around 50°. Reduce engine power, slows down, to less than 30mph , gas paddle won't respond, I stop,, Turn car off. Wait 1 or 2 minutes,, Restart,,All dashboard indicators is off. Drive normally,, TEMPERATURE STILL at 50°. Drive couple miles,,until it happens again..and Rested again. I have no doubt it's THERMOSTAT STUCK OPEN. What do you guys think. Didn't replace yet . It's cold weather this week. DFW, Tx .. 3 weeks later,, I'm sure in the case of pushing/ accelerating will be too much gas in the system that not enough air to burn it. I learned for the past 3 weeks since my 1st reply,, I don't push gas hard ,, if let car go gradually. It won't REDUCE engine power.until next discovery,, good luck to all Crappy 3.6 Chevy Camaro owners 🙋
That's correct, it uses ABS but also reduces torque sent to the wheels. Stability control is essentially a more advanced version of tracking control. It's sort of confusing breaking down the two but one way people put it is that all stability control is traction control, but not all traction control is stability control.
Great video. I have a problem where I code 1101 along with oil leak. My pvc hoses were broken and replaced. Then a day later, I was driving my car and all the sudden, stabilitrak, traction control and check engine lights started blinking and car was running rough. At steady speed it was ok but once I accelerated and slowed down, it was like ABS was kicking in . I plugged in a reader and code was P0302. So is this misfire issue, transmission, or stabilitrak? This is a cadillac ats
I'd like to suggest that you include diagrams and video examples to highlight your explanation of the various issues re Stabilitrak, Trac Control, ABS, etc, and it will help to clarify the topics discussed. Also, perhaps you can improve the audio tone quality to make the sound less sharper.

@@thomaslizarraga4955 Depends on the application, but hard shifting is generally the result of a system malfunction then transmission main line pressure is increased by default to try to save the transmission from damage.
I have a 2014 GMC Acadia. Mine started going crazy when I was pulling a trailer moving from TX to NC. I was about 140 miles away and it started going crazy while I was on the highway. I replaced the brake position sensor and cylinder 6 spark plug and ignition coil (had a code for cylinder 6). It fixed when I changed the ignition coil, and then started back the next day on the way to work. I just noticed today that my brake lights stay on.
Check the brake switch, that would cause the lights to stay on and cause this. Also usually recommend changing the plugs and coils for all cylinders at the same time.

Great Job ... a buddy had a problem with the Stabilitrack system and purchased a new YAW Sensor and it worked ... any thoughts on replacing the YAW Sensor ? thank you
Nice, good work on figuring that one out. Yaw sensors are a bit more complex of a sensor and probably a lot less known - but they are part of the electronic stability control system on all vehicles so on GMs specifically a problem with these sensors would definitely cause stabilitrak to turn off.
Omg I feel for you, Jim, you're so right. I at least have a truck, they wanted to create the perfect system buuuuuut... Complete failure. Now everyone pays.

Yepp, honestly not that big of a deal to drive with it on but most people get annoyed by having a light on the dash and want to fix it. But ultimately fine to drive with it on.
This is an awesome video. My stabili track light just started coming on. Once shut off it doesn’t happen at startup but once I go it doesn’t. It seems some problems are more with the electric system but if you have experienced the vehicle slowing down then it’s a mechanical issue? Heading for service tomorrow but not sure about going to the dealership or the local mechanic I use.
For real. My 2011 is perfectly maintained. Looks brand new and runs perfect... No engine codes. This damn stabilitrac is driving me crazy. When I fix it I will sell the next day.
Question: I have a 2016 GMC terrain and recently got a check engine light and pulled the code P0463 which came back as the PCM (power train control module) then about a week later the abs and traction control lights came and service stabilitrak displayed. Could the PCM be what caused the other issues? Thank you. Great video btw, very informative.
Can a faulty alternator cause this? I noticed my battery gauge 'float' between 12 -14 volts and stay at 12v at high speed (avg over 65 mph highway, on a return trip from Charlotte, NC to Fredericksburg VA, 6 hour drive). Turn signaling would also turn off cruise control while driving. At one point I saw the stabilitrak turn off amd the seatbelt warning light up. It did it once. Also, why I think the alternator might be the issue is that the battery light comes on from time to time while driving at low rpm. The battery was recently replaced.

S - Seems like you have spent quite a bit of money on it.. We think this could have to do with the ABS system, specifically the ABS control module. We have a video on this that may be helpful to share with mechanics: ua-cam.com/video/RkH7aiemBYQ/v-deo.html
I had a mechanic tell me that when he swapped an engine to a 08-10ish acaidia, that the stabilizer light turned on,and after getting an alignment it turned off and hasnt been on since January of this year(2024)
Would it be fair or accurate to say that if you use a scan tool and find the code that is causing the issue, does the code point to exactly what the issue is, or does in branch off in several different areas so that you then have to track each one down? It seems to me that even knowing the exact code it would still be a fishing expedition, but I could be wrong.
I have a brake light, traction control, and ABS light on. Stability track, steering assistance reduced. No power to radio or passenger side window. Front headlight out. Any thoughts on these issues?
Romero - Sounds like you've got a lot of problems that need to be addressed.. Do you have an engine code reader? That would be the easiest place to start with your diagnoses.
@@8020Media actually, I got most of it fixed. I had replaced the ABS wheel speed sensors with ones from Napa turned out. Those ones suck and neither one worked. That one was my fault from disconnecting the battery I arced the battery a couple times burnt out the fused
Just got struts replaced but without having the wheels aligned. Soon as I started driving, the service stabilitrack light came on. But no check engine light. Can a car being out of alignment cause the service stabilitrack light to come on?
Service stabilitrack message appears after 30mins to 1 hour of driving. When i turn off the car, the light goes away. Sometime, my suburban also displays a “service brakes soon” message on the DIC but that’s just random and also not persistent.
Does a diagnostic code typically narrow it down? This sounds pretty darn complicated This happened today and we were hoping to remedy it considering we bought the vehicle since the 2011 Tahoe was considered EXCELLENT reliability... Especially when it has only 87,000k miles.

What wires did you change?
@@danielvargas3208 I changed the spark plug wires, one broke when taking it off the plug and one was damaged because it was rubbing on something. Make sure that you retain the heat shields and put them on the new plug wires, they just slide off the end of the end and are easy to save. No matter what anyone says, they are essential to prevent the rubber from being damaged by being too close to the exhaust manifolds.

Once you understand how the system works, you then can begin to diagnoses problems so much easier.
Toyota systems are simaliar in the way they function.
The VSC system warning lights come on when there is a fault in the Engine Control system by default.
Mine came on. Then went off but then the check engine light came on. Any thoughts ????
So basically the car industry figured out how to make customers throw money at their "rigged for failure product" by disguising it as safety.

great video; i was fighting this gremlin for several months with my local dealer accusing us of applying the brake and accelerator simultaneously as the cause.

Roo - We couldn't agree more! Thanks for taking the time to type out your experience. This should be helpful for anyone running into this issue.
I just got done with this in my '14 Silverado. Pricey deal.
N - Sure is... What did they end up doing to resolve it?

How to fix the Stability tracking issue -
First : Make sure the brake pads are not locked due to heat or dirt extension-
2) Make sure the battery is charging normally and doesn't run out quickly (short to ground-)
3) Make sure no misfiring-
4)The last one - the mysterious one - is that the starter in your car must be rechecked for short to ground-
The brushes inside the starter is causing short to ground- you must replace the starter or fix the brushes and clean up the starter from debris -
Explained: At high load the current passes from ground terminal to positive terminal within the starter due to the broken brushes even the starter works normally

Thankfully I found my flashers and was able to get the car home but it CREPT at about 5 miles an hour if that. Parked it and went back to check later and the only issue left is the check engine light but everything else seems to be fine.

Wow! A women trying to repair a car problem herself, way to go girl, want a date?
Maybe if you're on an incline or decline torque lock can be occurring on the parking brake spindle in the transmission. I was told to apply the ebrake in neutral and take the ebrake off in neutral to prevent the shifter from locking up.

L - We have a great video on engine misfires that may be helpful here: ua-cam.com/video/f1mQ5hD1-vI/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for making this informative video! It really helps me understand the nomenclature of what’s going on with my engine
Glad it was helpful! Always happy to point you in the right direction if you are having problems.
I'd like to suggest that you include diagrams and video examples to highlight your explanation of the various issues re Stabilitrak, Trac Control, ABS, etc, and it will help to clarify the topics discussed. Also, perhaps you can improve the audio tone quality to make the sound less sharper.
R - Thank you for the feedback. This was our second video ever so we didn't have all the best equipment or experience. However, since this video we have dramatically upped our quality and hope it is seen.
Type "B" DTC's stored in the ECM (as a current fault) will request the Stabilitrac warning.
Thanks for the good info!
@@8020Media You bet!
How do do this?
GM WORTHLESS BS SYSTEM Trans shifts hard as soon as triangle is lit?
@@thomaslizarraga4955 Depends on the application, but hard shifting is generally the result of a system malfunction then transmission main line pressure is increased by default to try to save the transmission from damage.
Thank you for all of this information!
Tevin - Thanks for the feedback! We hope it helped.
Also usually recommend changing the plugs and coils for all cylinders at the same time.
yep, mine was the brake switch causing havoc.
Mine was a stuck brake booster vacuum sensor and failing vacuum pump. Took a scanner to diagnose. Replaced those parts and all has been good since.
J - Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
Solution to the problem ... DONT BUY CHEVY PRODUCTS !!!
I'M GONNA SELL MINE ASAP
Jolujo - What Chevy do you have and are having issues with? Unfortunately, all engines aren't the exact same and come with different issues.
Sure you will
😮💨😮💨 Lawd I’m over here thinking my motor just slung a rod or something. 2015 Chevy equinox just hit 100k going about 80 down interstate and stabilitrak failure engine light pops up and rough idle and I’m like “yooooo I just put oil in this thing and it never got low…” thanks for the video man relieves some stressing knowing that more than likely my motor is not Toast. Only got one tire pressure sensor working and need my brakes replaced but ima start with code but just take it to dealer first tbh.
Matt - Glad we could clear things up for you! Keep us updated on this.
Good video . Thanks for making it . Never knew it was that finicky.
Chevy - thanks for the feedback! There can be a very easy solution or the complete opposite.
Damn, that intro, all those cars, the drone shot, then......video audio level at 0.2!
M - This was on of our first few videos haha. We certainly were rookies.
This guy likes the sound of his own voice, using 40 words when 4 will do, just take the #9 abs fuse out and replace it problem solved
E - We make these videos for everyone, regardless of automotive knowledge. Therefore, we try to be VERY thorough. If you think your solution solves this issue every time, you're way off.
Thank you!!!!!!
This is useless on a front wheel drive vehicle that has no drive to rear wheels!
Jim - We couldn't agree more..
Omg I feel for you, Jim, you're so right. I at least have a truck, they wanted to create the perfect system buuuuuut... Complete failure. Now everyone pays.
Will this apply to a GMC Sierra 2014 pickup truck?
M - It certainly can.
What the hell I got along fine for years with out all this extra garbage on my trucks. Just another way to make there junk cost more. And cost an arm and leg to get stuff fixed.
Mark - Very true! We couldn’t agree more.
This is the $10 fix.
This guy is a shill.

4:50 I have a 2014 Silverado Z71 that I'm having this issue when I use my cruise control and switching on my hi beams. It kicks off the cruise and sometimes I will get the stabilizer link message or steering assist. Traction control light goes on/off, xm radio switches channels or goes completely blank but music keeps playing. Also the engine shuts off when turning sharp like into the driveway or parking stall. Please get back to me with any thoughts.
J - This sounds like it could be electrical related. The ABS harness is close to the headlights. Have you had it looked at?
Damn I just like to see how to fix it. U were saying to much
Johnathan - Unfortunately when it comes to the Service Stabilitrak issue, there really is no "one fix fits all." But we also have an article written on one of our websites (Chevytrucks) if that would make it easier. Thanks!
U are the wizard I need to bring my 11 Camaro SS back to life. Where are you located? Four shops including the Dealership cannot end the Stabilitrac and errors
B - Unfortunately, we don't have a shop. However, it is something we are contemplating in the future. This issue is not the easiest to diagnose..
I just ignore the shit : if it fires up and runs it’s good . Ha ha ha ha .
Yepp, honestly not that big of a deal to drive with it on but most people get annoyed by having a light on the dash and want to fix it. But ultimately fine to drive with it on.
I have the “service stabilitrak/traction control” with NO check engine light????
This is an awesome video. My stabili track light just started coming on. Once shut off it doesn’t happen at startup but once I go it doesn’t. It seems some problems are more with the electric system but if you have experienced the vehicle slowing down then it’s a mechanical issue? Heading for service tomorrow but not sure about going to the dealership or the local mechanic I use.
D - Would advise to go to the mechanic.. The dealership could spend hours on it trying to figure it out.. Keep us updated.
In short…. Don’t buy another Chevy. If my 2014 is acting up like this at 120k and I maintain it like a baby. It’s a shitty truck
Mommus - They just aren’t built the same anymore, sadly.
For real. My 2011 is perfectly maintained. Looks brand new and runs perfect... No engine codes. This damn stabilitrac is driving me crazy. When I fix it I will sell the next day.
Besides seeing the light on the dash do you actually experience any performance issues when the service stabiltrak light appears ?
Question: I have a 2016 GMC terrain and recently got a check engine light and pulled the code P0463 which came back as the PCM (power train control module) then about a week later the abs and traction control lights came and service stabilitrak displayed. Could the PCM be what caused the other issues? Thank you. Great video btw, very informative.
B - This definitely could cause stabilitrak and traction control lights to appear.
Good video, exactly what I was looking for - fix the CEL, have a hard miss on #7 figure that out first! Thanks
E - Nice! Glad you got it figured out.
If just change the tire size from 18 to a 20 will it set off the stabilitrack
J - It definitely can. Give it some time.
If I pull the fuses for the traction control and stabilitrak will it turn it off
G - I mean it may work temporarily.. but we certainly don't recommend it.
Great video, friend. Thank you.
Micelf - Thanks for the feedback! Hope it helped.
Thank you for the video
Mike - Absolutely. We hope it helps!
T - This could certainly be a cause. Are you getting any engine codes?
Thanks so much for this info ,it will help me the next time this comes up again.ck,wisc.
Linda - Thanks for the feedback! We hope it helps.
good content! I blead the brakes on my 2006 Chevy Tahoe and now my Traction Control light and brake light is on. Any advice??
The ABS sensors are located around that area so I'd check and make sure you didn't knock one of those loose while bleeding.
@@8020Media Thanks i'll check that out!
Very helpful. Thanks
T - Thanks for the feedback! Hope you find your solution.
Great video
Thank you very very much.
Mike - Thanks for the feedback! We hope it helped.
Can a faulty catalytic converter cause the stabilitrak warning come on?
S - It's possible, but not very likely. Do you have any engine codes?
@@8020Media yes. P0420 and c056D-00 on 2014 GMC Terrain. The dealership says replacing the catalytic converter ($2000) will fix stabilitrak warning. Replaced engine at 122,000 miles ($8000) and recently front axles replaced ($1124) . I have 164,000 miles on vehicle now. Just concerned that replacing catalytic converter will not fix stabilitrak warning and will have to spend even more money. Thanks for your input.
S - Seems like you have spent quite a bit of money on it.. We think this could have to do with the ABS system, specifically the ABS control module. We have a video on this that may be helpful to share with mechanics: ua-cam.com/video/RkH7aiemBYQ/v-deo.html
What about wheel bearing system, they can check to see if bearing is need replaced.
D - This is true.
I had a mechanic tell me that when he swapped an engine to a 08-10ish acaidia, that the stabilizer light turned on,and after getting an alignment it turned off and hasnt been on since January of this year(2024)
D - Thanks for sharing your experience.
C - Most of the time, we would say this is fair. However, this issue can be extremely difficult to diagnose..
I still have a traction control light on, but I believe I have a burnt fuse somewhere so I’m just trying to figure out where.
Because I don’t have power to certain parts of my vehicle
Awesome to hear Romero! Keep us updated on this, it sounds like you are on the right track.
I have the exact same problem. Literally exact same problem.
@@MaciainChandler so for me, the connection on the main wire harness that connected to the speed sensor lost connection due to the wire being broken inside the plastic so I had to splice the wheel speed sensor to the main wire harness that fixed that problem but then I also had the 185amp mega fuse that’s connected to the battery box go bad.
That one was my fault from disconnecting the battery I arced the battery a couple times burnt out the fused
I'm surprised you didn't suggest anything electrical, such as bad grounds; G218 in particular and/or main.
Chris - This certainly can be the case. We just listed the most common causes and solutions. Thanks for adding this insight.
Just got struts replaced but without having the wheels aligned. Soon as I started driving, the service stabilitrack light came on. But no check engine light. Can a car being out of alignment cause the service stabilitrack light to come on?
T - It can, but give it a few days, it may just be adjusting to the new struts.
Service stabilitrack message appears after 30mins to 1 hour of driving. When i turn off the car, the light goes away. Sometime, my suburban also displays a “service brakes soon” message on the DIC but that’s just random and also not persistent.
Does a diagnostic code typically narrow it down?
This sounds pretty darn complicated
This happened today and we were hoping to remedy it considering we bought the vehicle since the 2011 Tahoe was considered EXCELLENT reliability... Especially when it has only 87,000k miles.
C - Yes, a code will certainly speed up the diagnostic process. Unfortunately, it's not always an easy fix. Keep us updated.
@@8020Media will do. I was going to plug in the diag tonight.
Mine came on after a wheel alignment. Could the wheel alignment cause it to come
J - It's possible. Just try to drive on it for a few hundred miles and it should turn off!
@8020Media thank you. I work 80 miles one way got halfway to work this morning in it went off. Thank you so much
J - Great to hear! Thanks for coming back and updating.
