- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- The Love Parade was the 2nd single off of our debut self-titled album in the U.S. This version of the song is a radio remix that is a bit different than the album version. Gotta love Gilbert's motor scooter in this one.
This should've been just as big as "Life In A Northern Town"!!!
Should have been bigger.
can't we just live in the 80's and never leave that would be so Great
Nothing gold can stay.
If only but time keeps moving forward. Best decade of music the 80s😊
We can in mind, heart, and spirit. One of the best ways is to listen to 70s and 80s music daily. In some ways it's better to be stuck in the past, since in some ways the past is so much better 😌 ☺️ 😊
So many of you miss a decade you never stepped foot in.
Why?
It's not the decade you’re missing, yes the music and film were great, but it’s not those things that are resulting in this universal longing and nostalgia. It’s the constant bombardment of soul vacant content, the obsession with political correct critiquing, and the internal, incognizant desire for simpler times.
You all can get these things back yourself without needing to time travel, ya know… just disconnect from social media, take a chill pill on your constant need to condemn words, and learn a new skill and embrace art.
PS: Yes, I’m over forty, so you’re not getting advice from some twenty-something kid who thinks he/her is deeper than they are and put their ill informed, out of touch opinions on social media for the connection starved souls of our planet to consume.
In 86 I was 28,.now I'm 63 and this song as well as all the rest they did, still sounds so very great. The time is literally flying by ! ✌
In 86 I was 13. Now I'm 50 and I still love this entire album! And I fully agree that time just flies by.
One of the most mesmerizing tunes I ever heard in the 80's; Whatever happened to The Dream Academy? I miss them!
Agree. Gorgeous song. I don't believe The Dream Academy is a full time band anymore. Maybe only for occasional performances. But Nick Laird-Clowes continues to make music. I heard he got into scoring films.
Well said, agreed
The best memories of my life, this song makes me feel a sense of incredible pleasure, brings me to 1986 as a time machine, I love this song
+Rafael Cova me too, May 1986 was my favorite month ever
Janet Prost i
My very favorite magical year
rafael i heard this album in 1986 in la and purchased the cd immediately not too many people know about dream academy. good mems
Are you kidding? How can music like this ever be forgotten? I was 17 in 1986 and I was LITERALLY obsessed with the DA. Now I'm 42 and is it wrong to have those years of the 80's come flooding back? Man I miss those innocent times! Thank You DA!
You must've been a problem child at 17, being obsessed with the District Attorney!!!
One of the very best from the Awesome 80's. Those with more sophisticated tastes in pop music (beyond the standard Top 40 fare) loved this song -- and this group.
The Dream Academy was so ahead of its time
This is my favorite Pop song from the decade. The last :43 seconds of the song (from 3:07 through the fade) is the greatest hook in the history of hooks. And when I say "Hook", I don't mean PETER Hook, you know, "Hooky". Don't get me wrong, I adore Peter's work. And when I say "work" I don't mean like, a job. And when I say "job" I don't mean the verb "job", as in: to do casual or occasional work. And when I say....
Que gran grupo y gran cancion ..lo bueno que tengo este vinilo
Qué envidia. Ha de sonar súper en vinilo
Back in 1986 I wore this cassette out playing it incessantly in my 1978 Ford LTD gas gussler. I miss being 17 and driving during rainy days....🖤
So glad you guys have a channel here. My girlfriend and I love driving through the city at night to this. The ultimate musical escape.
Memories of 1986, when I was a senior in high school.
Why this wasn't a bigger hit than Life in a Northern town doesn't make sense.
always loved this song
This song never gets old. It's Classic ❤🎶
One of my favorite songs from the 1980's
And at 3:55 - wasn't Jill St. John one of the most beautiful women in the world in the 1980s?
Oh yeah. Thanks for the clarification My bad.
Ouch!
➡ *"You sold your soul for a pocket full of sweet talk."*
Love that line!!!! ⬆⬆ Should have of been a smash hit!!
Love the spectrum colored dream sequence video!!
80s.. I need you!
Elegance
Wow. I remember having this on a 45 when I was 15. It still sounds fresh.
a fantastic song and a nice little gem. It is from the album The Dream Academy, I have it.
This song is pure Prefab Sprout, beginning for Kate St. John's backing vocals, who looks Wendy Smith singing in 'When Love Breaks Down'.
The one version that I've loved forever and that I used to play on the radiowaves here back in those good old days of more optmistic and melodic music.
Thanks for the great music to everyone in the Academy and thanks for a video I had never seen before. Cheers from Chile.
MUCH better than Life in a Northern Town.
I always thought the same.... :)
ulikeavirgin Glad I'm not alone! Wasn't nearly as big a hit as Northern Town, though...………………..go figure.
Este tema tiene magia me fascina👏👍.
Si lo mismo digo yo desde que la descubrí. Es Mágica.
Dream Acadamy are alive and well and living in Empire of The Sun.
rodrigez gozalo good point...couldn't agree more
Well if COLDPLAY got together with Adele and/or Sade and DISCLOSURE they would approxinate this sound perfectly. When was the last time you heard a glockenspiel and an accordion in the same piece of music?
how good was this era
The best
To this very day Kate St. John is one of the most beautiful women in the world...I love her voice and this haunting song...
An masterpiece of pop song craftsmanship if there ever was one. Quite an 'atmosphere' this song weaves...Summer 1986 forever!
7" version not as good as the album version. Album version is perfect
It'll go on forever
If I ever have a tv show I want this to be my theme song
Terrific mix of this track--my favorite version. Many thanks for providing it here!
unforgettable years...everything was perfect..this is dedicated to the one I love
Never realized how much this sounds like Prefab Sprout...
Para gente de muy muy gustos especiales. Ellos podrán apreciar la calidad de la canción
When I worked on radio back in 86, we go this track in I put it on was literally blown away with the fidelity and production of this track. I think it was a summer release. Sound great even with all the massive reverb stations carried at that time
The production value is incredible on this! Matter of fact, what stands out about the 80s decade of music is the stellar production. Oh, to have that back now!
@@nancysmith8626 The great Alan Tarney produced it. He did We Don't Talk Anymore by Cliff Richard, Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines On TV by Aha, plus much more with them. Also Disco 2000 Pulp. His sound is distinctive. He also produced the amazing Orchard Road by Leo Sayer.
Damn - released almost 30 years ago! Senior year at Mandeville HS (1986-1987). Man, time flies. :(
ToddSRQ ...time flies....too true sir
On which record can I find this version?? Years I've been looking for it...
This Is Simply One of Those Songs Whose Music & Lyrics, Move Your Soul...
+Tanya Wright It's very nice to see someone (else) whose Soul is displaced by Music^.
2018, still getting it in!
Luv this song! I was 9 years old when I listened to it for the first time, I’m 45 now and it still sounds amazing
Thanks for posting this gem. I have been looking for this since the 80's.
their best song by far, always thought so. I am glad I have had it all this time!
Some of the best times of my life 1986 I was 19 young wild & free 🎶🎶🎶💛🎶🎶🎶
I remember all these songs from my senior year of high school! What a great year for music!
Beautiful
The UK version is better
oh my god, does this song take me back. It sounds even better now.
Luckily this song never went mainstream in the US because it's as fresh as it was when I was in junior high : )
This video is so dreamy and out of this world.
Look out your window on any day
From June to September the love parade's
Out on the street where you live and you know
It's just a matter of time before it takes over
They've been married for so many years
Now a young love serenade blows sweet nothing in her ear
They're lonley together, when they're not apart
It feels like she's holding on to someone else in the dark.
Oh the love parade is on
Even against all odds
It'll go on forever
The love parade
Only matinee shows
The love parade.
But if he could put himself into a different skin
He'd be worrying about what he'd let himself in for
Hanging in the air apparent
A point of view almost transparent
So you sold your soul for a pocket full of sweet talk
Forget-me-not kisses at the end of a slow walk
And when it's done you put your world back on
'Cause she's otherwise engaged married to someone
Oh the love parade goes on
Even when you're gone
It'll go on forever
The love parade
Only matinee shows
The love parade.
Man this band is soooo underrated. They had a great understanding of blending the vocals with the music.
Also why can't I find "Lessons of Love" on UA-cam...one of my favorites by them! >_
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!! Even better than 'Life in a Northern Town'!!!
I've always loved this song....(and the trippy video!)
takes me back to the good ole days of innocence and fantasies : )
@GDougK surprisingly that is a different "lessons of love". Go to amazon.com and look up dream academy rememberance days album. Should be the second or so song, they should have a sample to play.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this post....this song meant so much to me back in the early summer of 1986...lots of great times!
i'm getting misty right now....
@patwin00 also West End Girls/Pet Shop Boys, Sledgehammer/Peter Gabriel, Venus/Bananarama, All The Things She Said/Simple Minds, Paranoimia/Art of Noise, Edge of Heaven/WHAM!, Life's What You Make It/Talk Talk, Sweetest Taboo/Sade, Calling All The Heroes/It Bites, Driving Away from Home/It's Immaterial, Shell Shock/New Order and many more !!!
where is this world going to?why stupid rap crap songs with no meaning, hate, give me generation, this was when life was a bit normal, its a total mess out there now,is there any morals left ?looks like every man for himself now,any way thi song has true meaning, feelings, love it.
@satyricon451 This was a pretty big hit around Seattle, but I know what you mean. Radios seem to play the same 80s songs over and over again, like "Sister Christian" and "Part-Time Lover"...
Love this song and love 1986 I cant believe that song came out 25 years ago! It doesn't seem fair how fast time goes by.
@TrainHistorian - I'm a few years ahead of you; but yeah, I liked this song when it came out, too! I just wished that it got greater respect.
This is not the CD version, but I think the radio version. Does anyone know where I can get the radio version from? I cannot find it on a CD.
