I was absolutely obsessed with Savage Garden as a kid growing up in the 90s. But hearing and watching Darren Hayes perform live last week in Sydney, that hit the spot!!! He's still got it!!
My favorite Savage Garden song! Takes me back to where I was in my life in 1998 and it gets me a bit sentimental, aside from just being a great song. When you’re young, you go through times that you want to just get through or move on to somewhere else, but in the future, you sometimes yearn for those days because they’re over and not coming back. 90s music forever!
I don’t believe we will ever have a band again like savage garden. They had some huge hits but their talent was never recognised like it should have been. The lyrical ability of Hayes and Jones, the pure poetry. All of their songs were light years ahead of the nineties/early noughties. It’s the way they capture emotions, create this heady ambience, build to a crescendo. Nobody did it like them then and nobody does today. Utter brilliance.
I don't know why but this invokes such strong nostalgia. It somehow makes me feel the 90s and early 2000s in my body. The weird thing about it is that I didn't even listen to it back then.
I am 42 and I could literally overdose on nostalgia. The 90's was the last decade where there was still an innocence to life. They had the best movies, tv, and music. I sometimes sit and just close my eyes and go back to this time on my mind...just immersing myself in all the memories. I cry a lot just yearning for those days that I can never get back. The world is such a 💩show today and I just wish I could be a kid again. Just wanting to relive all those precious times 😢. I thank God for UA-cam...one of the only online platforms I really look at. Long live the 90's !!!! 👍👍👍💜💜💜
Me and my friend would play this and many others, specially Alphaville, on a cassette deck. We'd hang out in the evenings, sometimes go on long drives, again, playing this and more tracks - discussing art, movies, TV, video games, Unreal - and being silent, listening to and feeling the music, the night lights passing by, the air, the atmosphere! Now we literally live worlds apart, raising our families. When we meet every few years, we can't help but take the memory trip again. Happy indeed for UA-cam - not just to be able relive those memories, but also seeing how total strangers from the same era have common experiences! Cheers for sharing!

Still LOVING this song in March of 2022! Listened to this EVERY MORNING on the way to work to start my day off right. I sang it to my son and I will ALWAYS love him "to the moon and back!" Savage Garden, PLEASE give us MORE music -- we LOVE you, we MISS you and we NEED you!

I pretty much had this song on repeat my sophomore year. Even splurged for the cd instead of recording it from the radio to a cassette. Damn. I feel old 😂
I love the “space” sound of Savage Garden. They were off the beaten path of music of the era and I think everyone loved this group. Which they would reunite
I’ve looked for this song since I was a little kid… I’ve only known 1 line of the chorus for all these years. I’m so happy that I’ve found this song and I LOVE IT ❤❤❤
I was such a young and small child when this came out… It played on the radio for a couple of years before it faded into obscurity. So many years have passed, but songs like these are like a precious time capsule taking your back for a couple of minutes.
Bless the 90's. I was teenager at the time, could spend a rainy sunday watching all these music videos and never get bored... No computers, no internet, no cell phones... It was another century.
I hadn't heard this song in years. I did not know neither the title nor the band, i just searched for the first line of the chorus. It is a really great tune indeed! The sound of the decade I grew up in.
Even though I was born in 1995 and I was still a kid but this period brings good memories and nostalgy over such a great music that isnt produced nowadays lol
I'm a LEGEND! Not because I'm listening to this in 2020 or I came here searching..... but because I was a 90s kid. I was 17 when this song came out... gives me same goosebumps still to this day! God please bring back 90s.
This is the first song i heard with headphones on my older sister's walkman. It was a pretty wild experience, especially with such a rich sounding song! Gives me chills now every time i hear it. The 90's were awesome!
In the 90s, my brother (RIP) used to listen to this band, and especially this song stuck in my head for a long time but couldnt find it until now, I wasnt even sure which band was it. And finally I got it. I didnt realize then, but what a great taste in music my brother had ❤
This is the best friggin song in the entire universe. To The Moon & Back can never go out of fashion or become 'old'. I particularly enjoy the in-depth and meaningful lyrics, such a stark contrast from the songs churned out by the music industry today. Absolutely beautiful!
Such a good summer when this video premiered I remember staying up all night watching VH1 and MTV..fast forward to summer 2024 I’m still living in NYC and it’s so weird how so much has changed but somewhat stayed the same..Life is so strange and goes by so fast..it’s like Time doesn’t even exist it only exists because we created a way to measure it..
I can relate to this song today, when I'm hearing it. It turned out to be my life's story. I never understood or heard the lyrics carefully when I listened to this song as a child.
I related to this song when i was 15yrs old, im 39 now and i still relate to it. I miss the 90s so much. It had a certain smell and look with peaceful moments. All memories come back.🌒🪐🌠🌌

This song spoke to me so much as a kid. Still does. I am this girl. It's so interesting to hear what got me through so many years later. And I tried to hard to love those that never deserved it. I guess I haven't grown up yet
It’s funny how the lyrics mean more and more as I get older. At the time “mother never loved her much” stood out. Still does and all the rest of it makes so much more sense and meaning now too.

Reading through the commences below is very uplifting and almost makes me feel like some truly wonderful things can emerge from social media! Thank you everyone who posted reflections of a period of time when this came out - life was great. 1998 to 2008 was probably the 10 year period of my life. Was simpler, more open, more free. Time has moved on, but memories remain and this song among others drifts me back to a happy place from the past - as it does with many of you as well :)

Same too. Same age too!

I pretty much had this song on repeat my sophomore year. Even splurged for the cd instead of recording it from the radio to a cassette. Damn. I feel old 😂
😂😂😂 60 …🏴😎
one of the best pop songs ever written
I still think back 12 years ago when I listen to it. Yes, EPIC....for sure~!!

agreed
I wasn't born back then, I come from year 2001
For real tho.
I love the “space” sound of Savage Garden. They were off the beaten path of music of the era and I think everyone loved this group. Which they would reunite
Definitely off the bubble gum circle as their first song was.
Yep
I met this song today in the radio!
The melody, the harmony, the voice, the sound, everything, I loved it!
It is classic. Grew up with it in the 90s in Australia
Amazing, it's rare to discover good songs on the radio nowdays. Listen to the whole album, you will love it.
@@HanDaimond good idea bro

90s music has so much heart soul and passion. The best time for music.
❤️yes
I would have to agree!💜
No way . This is a tune but generally imo 90s music sucks
Not at all..the 70's were much better ..by far...
@ Sin ningún lugar a dudas está demostrado que la mejor época de la música fueron los 80, los 90 y los 70 tampoco estuvieron tan mal musicalmente
I’ve looked for this song since I was a little kid… I’ve only known 1 line of the chorus for all these years. I’m so happy that I’ve found this song and I LOVE IT ❤❤❤
My first love. This song is the reason i love and started understanding music. 😍😍 god blessyou savage. Love you all
Anyone sing along word for word? This song is just immense. ✌🏻
Hell yeah!!!
I was such a young and small child when this came out… It played on the radio for a couple of years before it faded into obscurity. So many years have passed, but songs like these are like a precious time capsule taking your back for a couple of minutes.
I understand you! It happened the same thing with me, in 2015
Then was on the radio, now it faded and now it appears very, very rare
Does nostalgia cause your heart to ache too? Is it most intense on weekend mornings when you've awaken and don't have the much to distract you yet?
Dear God.
Send us back to 90's

I remember dancing at a club in Toronto when they were promoting their album. I still have a signed CD!
This song still should dominate the clubs! Nice call, Tanya!

Bless the 90's. I was teenager at the time, could spend a rainy sunday watching all these music videos and never get bored... No computers, no internet, no cell phones... It was another century.
I mean it literally was another century.
Could relate. When people esp. teens actually love to watch music videos!
All those existed in 90s

Lyrics
She's taking her time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside
Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyone's got a theory about the bitter one
They're saying
Mama never loved her much
And daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot
To come (and she'll say to him)
She's saying
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you'll be if you'll be my baby
Got a ticket for a world where
We belong
So would you be my baby
Ooh-ooh
She can't remember a time
When she felt needed
If love was red then she was colour-blind
All her friends they've been tried for treason
And crimes that were never defined
She's saying
Love is like a barren place
And reaching out for human faith is
Is like a journey I just don't have a map for
So baby gonna take a dive and push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she's hanging all her hopes on the stars
(What a pleasant dream) just saying
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you'll be if you'll be my baby
Got a ticket for a world where
We belong
So would you be my baby
Ooh-ooh

Reading through the commences below is very uplifting and almost makes me feel like some truly wonderful things can emerge from social media! Thank you everyone who posted reflections of a period of time when this came out - life was great. 1998 to 2008 was probably the 10 year period of my life. Was simpler, more open, more free. Time has moved on, but memories remain and this song among others drifts me back to a happy place from the past - as it does with many of you as well :)
