24 Hours on the BNSF Southern Transcon in La Plata, MO - June 22-23, 2018

- A place that I have been wanting to come up to for a long while, the Virtual Railfan hotspot at La Plata, MO home to the BNSF Southern Transcon! My dad and I took a “father and son” road trip, and this was the main event along with a little time spent in St. Louis. My goal was to get 24 hours at the station, and BNSF definitely didn't let me down. From 70 MPH Z trains, to beast mode intermodals, and to some of the best power consists, a grand total of 73 trains was recorded! Another visit will be planned in the near future! This is by far the best trackside adventure I've had in a long while!
I hope you enjoy this nonstop TWO AND A HALF HOUR action during my time in La Plata!
*Keep in mind some info displayed in this video may not be accurate.. I don’t know much when it comes to BNSF.. But I just made educated guesses to some of these trains, along with some help from others in the Virtual Railfan live stream comment section on UA-cam (Thank you!!).

Excellent stuff. Regular viewer of the VRF cams, good to see what it looks like at ground level.
Excellent video you made! The endless train action you captured is certainly the best I have ever seen. Hopefully another video just as good as this one turned out to be will be made in the future.
WOW, this is simply an extraordinrary film man, just endless BNSF, big thumbs up from me man, putting it in my favourites as well
ems318 i love your trackside videos at La Plata, Missouri they are awesome and i love the railroad action when it's up close and personal. As if you can feel the trains rush by at 50 to 70 mph good work. Thank you.
Fantastic video, and I love how you include where the trains are going from and to, subscribed!
It's INSANE How fast the trains in La Plata Really Go! GREAT Catches Man!
Those locomotives are the Maximum of 70MPH
Finally had a chance to look at your videos. Awesome 👍
that very first train! omg, what a lashup. BNSF, UP, CSX in grey, Santa Fe EMD and what used to be a Burlington Northern EMD. 1 hell of a catch!
19:16 Mr Bob Cox himself!! Some will understand
Yea
These are some GREAT catches here man, love these fast intermodals
in addition to great views, a closeup look at the fabled local sights, including the new platform, Coke machine and vacinity, good job
Woow! Awesome a video. Because , i am follow is Virtual Railfan and watching to is here. La Plata train crossings is very good. By the way I am live Turkey and Congratulations for successful video.

That howl though!
Holy crap! FIRST train you saw had H3 c44-9w, still BNSF but thats rare for a bnsf c44, UP, CSX, YellowBonnet and BN! Thats some LUCK!
Still hard to believe! LOL
@@ericsturniolo 😂 that train I bet was the H-KCKGAL (Priority Manifest-Kansas City Argentine Yard to Galesburg)
THIS IS WHY BNSF IS MY FAVORITE RR!
Same
Great usual :)
Awesome foreign power locomotive nice catch
I remember that one summer night where I was watching virtual railfan at la plata, and we saw u filming, and u waved at the camera!
Cool!i saw the first two trains at Camden MO
Awesome video! What editing software do you use?
I like the view of M1 from your camera back away from the tracks. Wish the La Plata cameras weren't so close to the tracks.
Awesome Video I watch the Whole entire video all night long Awesome Job Keep up the great work I subscribed.
Wow awesome sightings! Is this the busiest class 1 mainline now?
That ACE at 15:23 was beautiful sounding sir
NICE!!! UA-cam showed me a creepy video so I watched this to try and get my mind off of it
Also in 200th like
Hopefully it worked!
Yes
Nice catches! Makes me want to railfan the BNSF Marceline Sub! Only problem is I am 2000 miles away lol (i live in Bakersfield CA).
Me too but I live over 1000 miles to the northeast
I thought UP power in La plata was on a BNSF train lol! Never knew UP had trackage rights there

I like the steam train for your intro
What is the large white building that is in the distance on the right side looking east from the La Plata depot ?
It's SOU 630 at the beginning! 0:00
good video but how do you know those symbols?
21:25 Z-NYCLAC is not New York to LA although i literally thought the EXACT SAME THING when I first saw it. BnSF does not go to NY im pretty sure, i think its Chicago Illinois NS yard to Hobart yard LA, but its a dumb abbreviation idk why its NYC instead of NSA like some other trains that go to that yard in chicago
Yeah I figured that out later on.. I wasn’t familiar with BNSF symbols of course.. 🤷🏻♂️
@@ericsturniolo oh ok :)
Curious; what camera do you use?
Mostly everything I shoot between my Sony HDR CX440 and my iPhone 7 Plus
@@ericsturniolo Nice!
How many trains go through there a day?
On average about 70-80 trains a day
You mean ‘the transcon’. There’s only ever been just the one.
2:34:13 UP Crazy 8s!
Me who has watched thunder bolt 1000 siren productions video on that incident: dun dun duuuh
