this snare sounds amazing
Beautiful drumming. Love those stalls & end beats.
That groove in medium tuning is 🔥🔥..
Seriously thinking of buying this one..
I’ve been back and forth between this Sensitone aluminum, and a Sensitone brass/Ludwig universal brass.
More and more I’m leaning heavily toward this Sensitone Aluminum.
When I purchase this snare, obviously it comes outfitted with an Ambassador coated head. What other heads work well with aluminum snares?
Ok, this really has to be said. Pay attention: that guy demoing your snare drums is so good that can make a can of milk sound perfect. Whatever you make him play is going to sound heavenly and you'll want to have it! In other hands it might not sound that good I guess.
They de-tune very easily, stainless tension rods & brass lug inserts, may be good on the surface, but that fine machining loosens up very easily. My old Luddies never let me down. But , i still like this drum. Pearl needs to change the inserts & tension rods back.Coarse thread, slightly gritty threads seem to hold the tension better, in my opinion.
You should try a little non-hardening pipe dope on the threads. Still acts as a type of anti-seize, but also helps to hold the tension rods in place. 🤙
I would personally rather deal with that then with coarse, gritty lugs, because that means the threads will eventually fail.
how are the heads tuned? Im figuring out how to make it sound so it can sing but rock same time
Crank the bottom head tight to the point it has just a little bit of give when you push with your thumb. Then you can put the top head wherever you want it.
Hey Tevin...great job as always...but what is your personal opinion on this snare compared to an lm402? im debating between this new pearl but in 5x14 and a b stock ludwig lm400. both cost the same at $500 CAD shipped. They only have 3 of the B stock lm400 left....personally i like the ludwig but im hesitant because of the problems with pitting and flaking etc...thanks for your help!! i appreciate it!!! ive owned a pearl free floating maple and the fit and finish of the pearl brand is very nice! However Ludwig has that reputation and great classic sound!! gosh i hate dilemmas lo...
Not sure but I’ve seen the pearl 5x14 320-350 new almost everywhere
The senstone is much cheaper than a lm402,,,, I’d go with the Luddy if you got the cash 💰
What did you go for? I definitely would have gone for the LM400 at that price. Absolute steal for a Supraphonic. I'm in Europe but in Euro they cost the equivalent of 1000 CAD new.

He’s talking about b-stock.
This one to me competes more with an acro. But lm402 all day if you can get it.
This or the Acrolite ?
This is less expensive..
I'm having the same dilemma😅 too
This cause the difference in price can’t be justified
