It's so impressive to me how you plan your days and crack on with hard work because as an adhd sufferer myself I know how hard simple tasks and plans can be to carry out so you should be so proud of yourself because most people who don't have adhd maybe won't realise the extra mental strength it tasks to do regular tasks

Hi Mel, what if you created multiple categories in your store with prices ranges, eg books under $20 - books $20-50, books $50-100 and so on. Then, you can create different types of sales and select the category of books that you want to be relevant to that sale. That way you don't need a second store which takes up so much extra time. Good luck.

I would have bought that Cookery book the Australian Way despite the condition. I have sold the earlier edition for $100 and it sells almost instantly for certain editions. It's because it was used for a text book in schools and some of the recipes are very unique to Australia and very hard to find. My grandma used to make the Christmas pudding from the second edition so people also buy them for sentimental reasons. Its like the CWA books people just want the old fashioned recipes.

Hi Mel, Hubby tells me all the time "that is why women live longer than men' when he does risky things. With the 2nd store I would just get a second phone and if you really wanted you could have a seperate computer as you are treating it like a second business. The equipment doesn't have to be as expensive as what you currently have just enough to get you through making life easier. The cookbook without the spine. Yes I would still purchase it if it was a book that I have been looking for and haven't been able to get, also some people (and students) mark up their cookbooks with notes, so it feels easier to do this with a book that isn't perfect.

the listing setup can benefit from many ergonomic upgrades. def get a mechanical keyboard, it makes a major difference. 1000% bigger depth desk, you need more room for your hands. your chair needs to also have arm support, look at the ergohuman chairs, best value for money. of course you dont need it as much as someone working 8+ hours at desk daily, but if you let your environment force you to have a correct posture, it will make a big difference.

After several years of selling books on eBay, I started a second store and just sold kid's books out of it. It basically worked until the economy crashed. Back then, I was basically selling books in auctions, and I had transitioned to selling them in fixed price sets. I quit using the second store shortly afterward and eventually transitioned it to selling Hawaiian style shirts. I didn't sell many and eventually stopped using it. It's been sitting dormant for 10 years now. But it'd be nice to have the second store maybe to sell your CD's or other music or media.

If it's a highly desired book that can be hard to find, then I'd buy it to resell and price it accordingly to its condition. A missing spine isn't too bad. Better than a missing cover or missing/stained/smelly pages. There are probably buyers out there that would love to have that book, but can't afford the full price that book would garner in good condition.
Interesting to read some of the comments about a second store. I've been buying on eBay for 20+ years and have only browsed a store if I was already buying something from a seller and they offered a discount for buying an additional item. It's always felt to me that buyers go to ebay to search for something specific that they can't get at their local shops, not to just browse. That seems to be the difference between Amazon and eBay shopping. But that's my view from withing the US, maybe online shopping is different in Australia with Amazon having a lower market share there. If I was shopping for books and browsing a store, then I'd like to see everything available and maybe add a 'cheap' book to my order. I feel like you might be looking at things too much from the seller perspective and your metrics, instead of thinking about the buyer's perspective and shopping habits. Just my thoughts after watching this video. I haven't yet watched your more recent videos, but I'm sure you've already made a decision about a second store or not.

@@susanwest1696 I have dual monitors, using a desktop PC (Dell) It's dangerous for those of us that have ADD to have two monitors!! You'll start something on one monitor, plus having 10+ open tabs and now you get to do it all over again on the second monitor. OH, the PLACES you'll GO!

Seven minutes in and I just want to comment on the “I don’t have time for the workout” , I feel this so much! I think what is actually happening is my brain fighting to keep me in my comfort zone and not do the hard work! Have to push past it, doing it first is great! I agree

Yep. I know if I didn’t do it first other stuff would arise as the day never goes to plan and I always expect to get more done than I do! It feels good knowing I did it and it then gives me more energy for the day

I have 2x stores but they are for very different products. You risk confusing your market if the products are too similar. Also it is a pain scrolling between the two online stores. You also find people who have bought in both stores at the same time. To confuse matters I have considered setting up a 3rd online store for $1 deals (things hanging around too long). I don't want to do cheap deals on my other sites sites because it cheapens the sites, and customers just wait till you put the item on sale.

What about giving the lower end books to “someone” (cafe lady) to enter & she keeps profit on those but you train her to do basic ones. Just take a small % from her so you need to use your time for higher end books. You also can use her for your store as well when needed.

I love the idea of you having another store for the reason you stated! Now you need to hire someone like me (but I live in the US, lol), that knows authors and genres, that could sort quickly, that could create bundles, not only by author, but by genre. I think 4 hours a day and it can be short-term employment, just until you get your warehouse sorted out. Now I have two concerns about the second store having lower metrics: If you're the one picking/packing/listing, you're taking time away from higher metric books, which makes no sense, but if you're paying an employee, does that make sen$e? OK, I forgot the second thing, hahhaha. This was a great video and I enjoyed the hour plus format! There were so many fun and diversified moments. How in the world is Tom going to clear that place out and where is he putting everything. I hope he's leaving you with an empty warehouse, but yeah, keep the books ;) Watching your video I was struck with the thought of one bird in the warehouse, one chicken at McDonald's drive-thru, and one Ducks Diet bundle that turned out to be the Guts Diet! BTW, is the roof okay? No leaks? The new one has a pitched roof and your current one does not... is that correct? An insulated pitched roof should be cooler in summer and warmer in winter as rainwater will spill right off it. The insulation has to be on point for this to be effective. G'day, Mel. Come around more often.

Love a long video! And having experience on a skid steer loader, going fast is way more fun 😎🤣We have 2 stores selling clothes. All our stock is mixed in together. For stocktake, we have 2 browsers open and do one tub at a time, checking off items in both stores as we go. It works ok for us, coz we work from our laptop not our phone.

Instead of the hassle of a second store use your SKU to identify your metrics system. That way you can search by your metrics and create a promotion. Second stores rarely pan out, especially with ADHD.

  • @douglasweston126
    @douglasweston126 2 місяці тому +2

yes - would definitely have bought the cook book. No problems with noise on video - didn't bother me. Videos with noise are preferable to no videos. Re second ebay store. Could you get hold of a second hand phone and get a cheaper provider like say Amaysim to use to put ebay app on so you don't have the pain of having to log in and out of each store. I think second store makes sense.

    • @backfromburnout

Yes good idea. I already have two phones as I use one for video only. I could add a cheap sim to that just for the eBay app.
