Imagine watching one of Mel's videos some years ago when she was driving up to the window of McDonald's and there was a chicken walking around outside. Well, you can imagine the comments! "You know the chicken sandwiches are fresh," "The one that got away," and so on! As if the 'roo footage wasn't enough!!
Hi Mel, I came across your channel 3 days ago (19th Jan.) & was fascinated. I placed an order that night, but didn't know where to leave a comment that I'd watched your channel, so wasn't expecting a Card. Today I received my order & I was so thrilled to receive everything packaged wonderfully & with a hand-written card inside. The multi-order of Clive Cussler books was for my Bestie, she collects them & I thought I'd add to her stash. Thanks for being so entertaining, it's great to see Aussies succeeding in business!
Watching from Cairns, QLD and have been watching you since your garage days. I’ve watched every move you’ve made. I don’t think I’ve missed a video of yours, you are my only UA-camr I regularly watch. So I’m so happy I’m getting a video every 2 days now
Hello Mel, i cook chicken in my air fryer, samoosas, spring rolls, comes out nice and crunchy. yum-mi! love your vid. i line the basket with air fryer bags, then it is literally cook in it, take the bag out, throw it in the bin, and the cleaning process is not so bad, just like a wash and put away.
Hi Mel, good to see your video's. I also sell books but I'm in the Netherlands. I notice that you pack in a different way than I do. I ad a small 'gift' to every book. A bookmark with my website goes in each book that I pack. So the buyer can always see where they bought it from and it's a small 'thank you' and a reminder of my webshop. Maybe something you might consider 😀 Best of luck from the Netherlands.
I do give bookmark and sometimes other things like tote bag. Special note and gift wrapping if they asked me to do. She able to sell a lot in a day. It's fascinating. And not cheap either.
Seeing all those Mills & Boon orders has finally made me attack the ones I have sitting in my death pile. It's time for them to find good homes. Thanks Mel! It's wonderful to see your store back and better than ever! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the freshly painted office.
The Four Hour Workweek - basically, outsource everything that isn’t “you” specific. In your case, you would hire to ship, photo and list, while you focus on sourcing products…and maybe even outsource that, as well!
She's in Australia. Our industrial relations system is appalling. Our wages sky high. And it's virtually impossible to sack someone. Notwithstanding that it's minefield dealing with HR and awards. They are beyond complex.
Hey Mel, we use our air fryer almost every day, one way or another. We have one of the Ninja 7 in 1s. From burgers to amazing seasoned chicken thighs, there is so much you can do. We bought an upgraded one that we have for my parents - my mother has a medical condition and forgets things. Their Ninja has a timer and temp sensor so that it auto shuts off and never burns. My parents now cook almost every meal with their unit, from roasts to burgers...you name it. Definitely a great unit for the elderly.
You are so inspiring. I’m 47 and have started selling books because of you. I’m three months in and doing great. I also loved TrueBlood the book series and hated the TV series.
Upstate NY-er over here. We love to use our air fryer for buffalo chicken wings. They come out crispy and fabulous, and our only trick is letting them marinade in the wing sauce over night. I love watching your book adventures, and I always appreciate your candor and honesty, thank you for your content!
I am with ya, Mel! No scuba for me either! I gotta see the bottom in order to get into the water. Air fry: love air fry veggies. Toss in oil, season, then air fry. Yummers!!
Wow, considering you get a lot for free and you don't pay more than $1 or$2 for a book, you are making a huge profit. Plus getting paid to be posting on youtube. Of course you have expenses that brings it down but you are making bank! I hope your businesses continue to prosper! I love watching your videos!
Hello Mel from the UK i dont know if you have seen shed flips on youtube ,but he is doing something called (Lonnie's losers). Basically what it is he takes his 5 longest listed items and either donates them or ends the item and lowers the price and then relists ,this way he is going through all his stock and finding items which have been delisted by either himself of by ebay ,he is finding this is a very good way of stock taking and clears out all the dead listings, it could be worth you doing say 20 of your oldest listings per day and do the same .
@@magaAsh Its not so much the amount of books its clearing the dead wood ,items that have not sold over a certain length of time ,Mel says she wants a quicker turn over of items
Hi Mel, 1st time watching your channel, I love your endearing and giggly natural 😁 btw if the cook book sales you mentioned from Delia Smith her name is pronounced Dee-Lee-A 👍
These videos are so good! I get so much work done while watching you pack. I hope I'll be packing as many orders as you in the coming year! And yes, I am answering all your questions in my head throughout the video! LOL Thanks Mel!
Hey Sweetie 🎉great sales🎉 love these videos. Tom is so sweet, a gem❤. I use my air fryer for so much. Reheat all kinds of food, pizza, chicken, and cooks hamburgers great. Before using microwave, oven or anything, think air fryer. See ya on the next one❤
I'm an Illinois watcher. I've been dealing in books for over 50 years. Your comments are a current report of what is selling. It's so fun to watch you. Congratulations on your 2025 sales.
Hi Mel - Listening while Photographing - Delia Smith was my inspiration to cook when growing up from he TV series He name is pronounced ‘Deeelia’ Best Jan
Hello from the cold weather in Minnesota, USA!! You are doing such a fantastic job Mel. Do you every get books about nurses? I have been one for 39 years and I recently retired due to poor health at the age of 58. I wanted to let you know that you are Amazing!!!
I've learned a lot from you, so a big TY Mel. I've done a big cull on the books as they were slow to sell. I've changed to focus more on non-fiction and just sell bundles of ficton books by the same author. Sometimes, too, I come across Flash Cards, which are a bit different to add to my stock, but I'm a bit lost in how to list them due to the lack of info on the boxes. Any tips to make it a nice-looking listing for them? TIA
Thanks Mel for another fabulous video! Took your advice from a previous video of yours and I managed to clean so many books while listening/watching this video. This will be my new routine. Thanks again you are truly inspirational!
Oh Mel so many laughs today! Definitely needed 😊 Cant wait to see that walk around the path with the prison cemetery cows 😂 Did you get your second tape gun from the post office yet?
I’ll have another sorting video coming soon. I just need to make some space to do another sort and I’ve been chasing my tail. But I’ll definitely film one in the next week so stay tuned!
Hi Mel, Watching you while I sought my last few hauls of DVD's (around 1000 - still to do final count) lol so great to have you in the background. In the air fryer I also do the basics, but every second Sunday I cook a pork belly in it. Hubby and son-in-law love the crackle I always get on it in the air fryer. I also want to start using it for more. I bought a couple of books from you when you first reopened your store and loved your thank you card. I have put it up on my desk above my computer xx
We love our air fryer! We make way too much junky stuff, like frozen battered chicken and corn dogs (if you don't have corn dogs in Australia, they are hot dogs on a stick with a corn bread batter) We also cook lots of potatoes, either as French fries or wedges. Yum!
Love the packing videos i really want to become a book reseller or clothes reseller u have inspired me any tips would be appreciated im from the uk ❤❤❤
Hi Mel been watching for a few months now very impressed with your grit and determination to make a go of your business. I know what you mean about the jail and cemetery- I grew up in Marulan 😊 live on the Gold Coast now though. I started my own eBay in November as I’m retired and have to try to live on super! All the best😁
Hi from the US!! Double hands up for the air fryer! We have a toaster oven/air fryer combo. From Cinnamon Rolls, to steak, to pizza, and French fries (chips)… there are so many things that we love making in there. My son always begs be to make cookies in there 😂
Mel, you can roast a whole chicken in your airfryer, the best I have ever tasted and no heat from the oven. You can even "boil" eggs in it, 170C for 7 minutes for a soft egg, 8 minutes if you want hard boiled.. Roast veggies are great too.. Ive even seen some people bake a cake in it but thats not my thing so not sure how that goes.
i would seriously watch you unedited for hours. That sounded creepy but I love these long for videos and I get so much work done. Thanks for another great video
I have an air fryer but I rarely use it. If I do it's to reheat fried shrimp or anything that suppose to be crispy. 😅 I make eighty percent of my food from scratch. I rarely use the microwave except to reheat for 2 minutes. I just think cooking your own food is the safest way to eat.😂
Mel I enjoy your videos so much. I am a seller of all things. I would love to sell books but they don’t seem to sell well here in US. Every thrift store, yardsale or Goodwill can barely give them away. Are books harder to find in Australia ? I haven’t had any luck with them
I sell it all - some books, but hubster started a book store July 4th weekend of 2024 and has been doing very well. We are in Ohio. His books go to mostly the coasts. Weird.
The Galápagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands in the Eastern Pacific, located around the equator, 900 km west of the mainland of South America. They form the Galápagos Province of the Republic of Ecuador, with a population of slightly over 33,000. The province is divided into the cantons of San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, and Isabela, the three most populated islands in the chain. The Galápagos are famous for their large number of endemic species, which were studied by Charles Darwin in the 1830s and inspired his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. All of these islands are protected as part of Ecuador's Galápagos National Park and Marine Reserve.
My local oppie had that sesame st lot for $125 lol. It has sat there on their shelf for over 2 years now but they won't reduce the price for some bizarre reason
They watch shows like this and think somehow it suddenly makes it worth that price in their shops. They forget that to obtain those prices, someone needs to market it, photograph it, and upload it. Watch and answer customer enquiries. And that it's being viewed by millions Then wrap, pack and post it.
Listened to your video on my way home from the doctor's office. Love your story that was supposed to be peaceful but then turned into a weird and strange thing taking a walk around a prison that holds the deadliest murderers while leaning over a cemetery fence to feed the cows or horses. 😂😂😂😂😂 I went back and listened to that story 3 times because it made me laugh and... I wasn't watching the video so I was confused when you made the comment about not looking in a book for pictures or positions. 😂😂😂😂😂 Cracked me up when I saw the book. 😅
Mel, I was so hoping you would read us one Ruthless Rhyme. 😅 Regarding 'My Cousin Rosa,' I think you meant Sicilian instead of 'selican.' Pronounced: Si-cil-ian. Have you watched The Godfather parts 1 and 2? Best two movies, ever!
We watched every season of Master Chef Australia here in the US on tubi- (so much better than our U.S. version)---- I laugh because we know all the winners- have an idea for a bundle- bundle up a few of the winners cookbooks (the ones you say move a little slower) and add a couple of the ones that sell really well-there may be some here in the US that would love that- also the guest chefs that we never really heard of till we watched Master chef- we have purchased so many of their books (we love Maggie beer) and we watched the Block - all of McLead's daughters and wentworth- we love Australian TV
An idea - have someone make an open label slot in your table, just beyond where you stack your labels. Wide enough and long enough to feed your labels through. Then you won’t have the struggle of empty label sheets being stacked up. I am a USA Wisconsin Sub and love following your content!! I sell a variety on eBay but part time. Keep up the great work!!! You are amazing!! ❤
@ I love Appleton! Sad when I heard that big Antique Mall near the Fox River Mall closed! I loved going there with my girlfriend and will miss it! Happy reselling Julie!
Wonderful - is January usually a good month for you? Let's hope it keeps up. My Jan and Feb are usually strong. Thanks for long video- I got a lot of photos done!
Hi Mel I really enjoy your video’s I live in Arkansas and I would like to know how do I find your store on eBay you do a good job. Keep up the good work.
Me: What did you do today? Mel: Went for a walk around the prison and then went to the cemetery so I could lean over the fence and talk to the cows 😂😂😂 Love it!
I cook chicken breast in air fryer, cut in half lengthways and 180 for 10 mins. Juicy and delicious. Marinate it too. I also cook enchiladas in the airfryer too.
Air fryer: I cook frozen wontons in it and they’re delicious. Also, we’ve found that reheating meat in the air fryer keeps it really good and its not dried out like if you microwave it
Me, just seems like waiting to erasing the internal price of a book slows down your packing soooooo much…wouldn’t you ever consider making the price removal a part of your book prep or photo process? Seems like it would flow so much more smoothly?
@ I understand but…it slows down the packing process so much, seems like the few second spent up front would make the packing process go much more smoothly. Just an observation.
@@johnd4371 but if she did it when she took pictures or book prep that slows that part down also either way you are losing that time. Also what if it never sells and she ends up donating instead and then just wasted her time doing it before it sold. She also has said it is nice to do so she can see what she bought it for and the profit while she is packing she has addressed this issue in previous packing videos and this is the way that she prefers
@ but what you’re missing is she DOES do some of them at prep time, for example the ones she bundles in wrap to put on shelves. So, doing some…why not all? I ON:Y said it as a suggestion, if she chooses to ignore me…that’s fine. But don’t be mad at a simple suggestion please.
Do Australian book sellers not have a race to the bottom? Here in the US it’s hard to compete when sellers are selling books for under 5-10 dollars and free shipping. It hard to fathom the prices you get in there vs here.
Isn't it it amazing?!! She once showed a Michner book, maybe Texas, and said she sold it for something like $26, and I was ready to move to Australia! These prices are because Amazon doesn't have a used book presence in Australia, but you can be sure if they did, that would be the end of $26 common Michner books. I say, to those book resellers in Australia, get your game on because one of these days, Amazon will wake up!
I think in the USA you have more people. More retailers who sell books, which means more second-hand books, and your postage is cheaper than Australia. We just don't have the competition here in Australia to drop prices to that level, and our postage is as dear as poison.
I think u have said this before. When u say what it sold for, are you including the shipping? If so it would give me a better idea of what the actual sale price is if not including the shipping. I’m sure that was not making sense but it would help a lot. 😊😊
Mel you absolutely must read The White Princess by Philippa Gregory. That will start you at the beginning of her series. You'll fall in love on the first chapter. Just trust me. Otherwise you could start with The Other Boelyn Girl which was my first one and where I was instantly hooked. Been reading her for well over a decade now! Let us know how you like it.
I too love her. I love all things Henry the VIII, so even though I could have written my own book about Catherine of Aragon, I still loved Philippa's! I recently finished 'The Taming of the Queen,' and I was in shock at THAT part with Henry and the Queen towards the end. If you haven't read that book, what are you waiting for? Having said all that, I'm not certain Philippa's books are right for Mel, but I think she would get a big kick out of the first few Shopaholic books.😅
I have read Meridan by Philippa Gregory as well as The Other Boleyn Girl and loved them both! I mainly read dark romance right now but still plan to read all of Philippa Gregory's books at some point because they were sooo good! :)
Hi Mel, it was me who bought the poultry book - love a good chicken! Thanks for the fast post!

The Galápagos are famous for their large number of endemic species, which were studied by Charles Darwin in the 1830s and inspired his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. All of these islands are protected as part of Ecuador's Galápagos National Park and Marine Reserve.
Loved this video. Great laughs too.
And that it's being viewed by millions
Then wrap, pack and post it.
Hi Mel. I’m sure that stack of books behind you on the second shelf up is leaning more and more each day ! 🙀
I'm interested to jnow hiw much postage costs eat into book sale prices. I'm happy you're getting settled into your new space. 🌻
Go GIRL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great video and saw my order. Yes thermie expensive but well worth it. Looking forward to receiving my order.
Hey, girl, hey. Working while you work.
ohhh Ps I love you.... is a great book but it will give you tears from beginning till the last page.... ❤❤❤❤
I think the problem with keto and paleo is there are SO many free recipes online that you don't need cook books. Thanks for another work day :)
That was the creepiest best story!!😊
Airfryer - roast veggies in 20 minutes potato, carrot, pumpkin, onion. Pork belly also good. Leftover pizza yummy in 3 minutes. Puff pastry & Nutella scrolls
Hi @jennyarduser! I am also in Wisconsin (Appleton) I am going to start reselling! 😊
You sure sold a lot of cookbooks this pick & pack. I hope your sales continue like this for you.
Hi Mel I really enjoy your video’s I live in Arkansas and I would like to know how do I find your store on eBay you do a good job. Keep up the good work.
Also link in the description.
Me: What did you do today?
Mel: Went for a walk around the prison and then went to the cemetery so I could lean over the fence and talk to the cows 😂😂😂 Love it!
🤣🤣🤣 sounds so ridiculous doesn’t it ha ha ha
Hi Mel... like your shirt.... How did that shirt get over to Australia from NC.... I live NC.
She does it when sold so she doesn’t waste time erasing on books that don’t sell
@ John, you’re missing Mel’s point- she won’t waste time on books that won’t sell. Period.
Love a long packing video ❤️
Loved the video ❤
All her books are free postage aka includes postage in the price
How on EARTH did you get a North Carolina shirt? Somehow I expected roos or something...!
Thanks for finding my book Mel💜
Thanks Mel, great videos. My question is: your sale price, does that include postage? I’m assuming not but just wanted to check 😊
