Birth are great looking knives for EDC and WE does a great job on fit and finish. Would be interesting to get these tested to see what thier HRC is at and if it's within target range, and also a look at them after a couple of sharpenings to see how well they hold up. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I kinda dig the Megatron more. Usually dont like speedholes but those look fancy McFancerson.
They finally did a plain pivot without the WE logo in it! And it looks phenomenal! Way better in my opinion! I love everything about that magnetron and exciton, if only they took that same formula, got rid of all WE logos on pivot and clip, and had different styles of blades that just looked better, whatever that might be, that would be a perfect knife! Don’t get me wrong, I love the direction they are going in and as cool and beautiful as these two knives and the ziffius are, they don’t really “Wow!” me.. I’m sure if I bought any of them or had them in my hands I’d really like and appreciate them, but in reality-world I have to make smart purchases(or if it’s a love at first sight kinda thing and have to have it) and right now, I think there’s a ton other knives higher up on the list that I’d rather have, eventually. Cuz in reality-world, I don’t have a money tree, my girlfriend is no longer a stripper, I don’t sell drugs, I’m not made of money, and companies aren’t shipping knives to me or begging me to take their knives off their hands. So unfortunately I have to be responsible and really choosey. But I hope everyone enjoys theirs. They look amazing but just not for me at this time.
The sencut actium is one of my favorite knives and that magnetron looks like a premium version of it and I'm down with that great video man 👍

The first knife is a tricked out Sencut Actium which is still my favorite budget knife

I bought the same version of the Exciton that you showed in the video. I agree with you that I prefer seeing the machine marks of a satin finish to a bead blast finish. However, I think this is the nicest bead blasted finish that I’ve seen. I’m thinking that they used finer beads and possibly at a higher speed.

I have mixed feelings about a hand rubbed satin. On one hand, they looks so damn good, but on the other hand, they look so good I'm affraid to use the knife because I don't want to put any scratches or scuffs on that gorgeous hand rubbed satin.
I really want a Magnetron. I have the Nexusia and Nefaris, and I finally was able to snag a Exciton. It should be here Monday. Can't wait.
We has really come a long way since they first opened up shop. They are knocking on REATE's door. Unfortunately, the prices are also knocking on the door of REATE. Not that they don't deserve it. It's just that it makes it harder for so many of us to afford them.

The Exciton is psuedo-integral, is it not? The CF back is more like a back than a back-spacer, and it IS integral, although it attaches to titanium side parts. And I also like exposed edges, what is here called side-cut! I MUCH prefer solid, layered CF, especially the colored kinds, as much for their edges as for their faces! Here, between these two upper-shelf, extra nice knives, I tend to go with the WE Ziffius, because it has thumb studs, but the Magnetron is also terrific. I’m not sure I want to pay quite that much, however…

Oh my god I want this (Exciton)!! I’ve been eyeing this knife forever!! BladeHQ has had these for preorder for over a month and I’ve been waiting for a review. I just blew my load on an UrbanEDC Supply exclusive Chavez Kickstop yesterday so I’ll have to wait to get this one. Thanks for getting this out there I’m glad they are as kick ass as they look

@@danpennella i think you made the right choice, because you can still get the kickstop which i still do think is a great choice but this ones limited and wont be around long, sometimes the time is now and thats this model you made the right choice

I'm getting myself my first spyderco, Manix 2 in CPM 20CV. I'm wondering if it holds a Edge longer with a polished Edge?
The mantix 2 xl is my personal favorite and it should come with a nice polished edge and yes they’ll cut someone if they just look at it lol enjoy there awesome and made in USA
I want the Magnetron soo bad, but I think I will hold off and get the Riff Raff that should be releasing soon. I know the Riff Raff isn't as detailed, but it's around $100 cheaper. But if they make a Magnetron in the future with more of a drop point blade I will pick it up, as I love scales with milling lines or texturing on the Ti (and those inlays on both sides just look beautiful.
I loved the Exciton but returned mine. I'm keeping my two Mordaxes. I am a big fan of a stout tip, broken too many thinner tips.
Ok ok…I ordered the Exciton! Being a limited edition made me jump on it. I passed on one a while ago and the feeling of regret is super annoying. Button locks aren’t my favorite but everything else about it is spot on.
You will not be disappointed, and good for you on the new awesome knife, you were smart to jump on it rt away.

Do you know why they put a closed position stop pin on some, not all, button locks…? My Kizer Original XL (great budget knife!) doesn’t have one and it sucks the blade right into the closed position…almost feel like and axis lock. Ones that have the pin, do the bounce/double clutch thing…kinda annoying.
@hspenjian so some just use the button plunge lock as the stop, and others use a secondary stop pin. They have to have one in the open position as far as the close position it can save the lock from being hit hard when closed, instead of hitting the lock and then it engaging it hits the pin and then the lock engages.
@@NeevesKnives I of course understand the need in the open position…was just curious why some have in closed and some don’t. Yeah I guess the repeated slamming can damage the lock after a while. Thanks!

Even the Sencut line has excellent button locks. My Watauga feels just as good as my Ziphius
never had a knife with a black blade so far, how delicate are those coated blades?
You would think by the name of the Magnatron that it would in Magnacut. 😆
Also, Vero makes knives with end cut carbon fiber.
I heard from somewhere that Crucible is not allowing export of Magnacut steel to China at this time, so there won't be any Chinese manufacturers using it right now. Not sure if there's truth to that or not.
@@the_bove That is indeed true. It's why Bestech was using it on some of their prototype knives that the designers were calling for it on. But then the production versions had to be switched to M390/20CV I remember on like 2-3 small/boutique brands knives over the last 6 months and they all eventually made UA-cam videos explaining to their customers that Bestech and all the Chinese OEM's (I think it's all International companies not just China) are excluded from purchase until Crucible can get their production up for the American companies orders that are 9 months backed up on purchase orders for the steel.
@@wes.killed.it.5511 I wonder if that's been lifted for at least other intentional countries besides China - Giant Mouse recently released that Tribeca with Magnacut, which is Italian made. Not sure I trust the heat treat from Italy on Magnacut to begin with, but it seems the steel is starting to trickle out to some international manufacturers.

I just picked one up in this color way, and already had it along with the Magnetron and Ziffius on my list. I didn’t know either the Exciton or Ziffius was a limited edition though, I stupidly wasn’t paying attention to that little detail, so probably missed out on the Ziffius by now.
I spent all my $ on new Chaves flippers last week anyway, so had to make a tough decision. Thanks for the review of these beautiful knives! 👍

I like some we knives but not for their prices and poor performance 20cv/m390.
I have a feeling the few that were 61.5, 61.7 were just for those special editions and not for everything. We also have yet to see how those perform, cause they could have excessive grain growth from raising the aust temps and not lowering the soak time at those temps to achive a higher hardness. But hey we dont know that information yet.
This is is one of we's major downfalls.

I had my Kitefin and my mini Malice tested at my older bro's factory about 4 months ago. The Kitefin (purchased early 2021) was 61.6, and the mini Malice (purchased around November 2022) came out to 61.2. Both blades tested 3 times then computed the average. I have never understood the communities mindset to claiming WE runs their steel soft. I have been a free hand sharpener for going on 6 years now, and every WE and Civivi knife I have ever owned has produced a crisp wire burr that basically falls off on its own (specifically Civivi D2/WE S35VN) and in my opinion out performs most other Chinese OEM's that I have encountered as well (Reate, Bestech, Kubey, Kizer)
@@wes.killed.it.5511 sharpening doesnt tell you performance. If its not in that 350ft cut range its poor performance. I dont care what hardness it is.
You really dont know. Cause reate is using secondary hardening and we is not so you'll see completely different microstructure at the same hardness.
Kizer are really bad and bestech at 61 can't even out perform Spyderco at 60rc.

I will agree with you that We/Civivi does the best job with their button locks. 3 reasons that set their button locks apart from the rest for me. 1. detent strength of the button is always perfect. 2. they consistently have absolutely no detent lash. 3. I have never had one that fails the spine whack test. I have had a really sour experience with 5 different CJRB/Artisan button locks, and a lot of the Kizer made button locks have the spine whack lock fail issue.
The only thing We keeps doing that drives me nuts is that beadblast finish. need more stonewash and/or satin options.
i agree as far as right now goes they are the only company that hasnt failed from spine wack on there button locks, aside from protech and freeman. but as far as large production goes
Agree 100%. I own 4 WE/Civivi button locks that are all perfect, and only 1 had lock stick which was extremely minimal and wore out in a day or two. Funny enough is the best button lock that they've made to date (IMO) is the very first button lock that hit the market back in December 2021 with the Cogent. Unfortunately it's flipper only but to this day next to my Conspirator, mini Malice, and Culex, it's just about better in every way as far as the button lock mechanism is concerned.
Hell, even the button lock Sencuts are smoking other brands with their button locks mechanisms, and are practically indistinguishable from the Civivi's and WE's at this point.

Magnetron has a blade shape similar to the Sencut Actium.
So thats what its called, DETENT LASH when the knife is closed but it moves a tiny bit. How do you fix this? Anyone help please 🙏🏻
yes that is detent lash, so it depends on what kind of lock its on, but in most cases its impossible to fix without replacing the detent, or plunge mechanism if its a button lock

It's a shame it came out so close to the ziffius. By the time currency conversion. The ziffius was a $600 knife. And I'm still paying that off. As much as I love the exciton and want it. It to will be $600 and ouch. Prefer the scales of the exciton but love the Wharncliffe more over a droppoint.

I don’t understand why they make products that everyone wants every so often but generally they don’t make many of them at a time I hope it’s just to test the market and they’ll do another run .
i think sometimes it is for that reason, and others its also in order to sell them all and not let anything sit

if these were made in the usa they would be nearly a 1000$ ive held more knijves than most and the only time a knife from the usa has come close to this with the same materials its far more than 350
