I KNOW I MESSED UP AND ADDED ANOTHER FOLDER LATER IN THE VIDEO LOL NOBODY SAID I WAS THE BEST EDITOR THANK YOU GUYS FOR WATCHING WE LOVE YOU AND APPRECIATE ALL THE SUPPORT THIS YEAR, AND WE ARE GOING TO ROCK 2023!
For flippers in a "self defense" philosophy of use, one actually wants to have a flipper tab sticking out as a bit of a cross guard. This isn't to stop a blade from hitting your hand. It's to keep your hand from slipping up onto the blade when you stab. This is very easy to do, when one is in a high adrenaline situation.
I seriously think it’s cool you incorporated the Clinch Pick into an Knife/EDC video. I know you’re a “knife channel”, but the majority of the audience, I’d venture to say, are part of the “EDC” community. The Clinch Pick has a superb profile and the concept behind its inception and its uses inside of a “close quarters” scenario are second to none. Semper Fi Devil.
More of a worse case scenario for the vast majority of us. I've been into knives since my grandpa gave me my first pocket knife and taught me how to properly use it. Part of his and my father's philosophy that was pounded into my head verry effectively was: Knives are tools to be used to help people, NOT HURT THEM. I tend to shy away from the thought of using one as a weapon. For me, my back would have to literally be against the wall, no way to run away or make an opportunity to do so, and the attacker is behaving with lethal intent. In that context, a knife would be used similarly to someone else using their keys as a flail, or a flashlight as a makeshift baton (a bright flashlight and running shoes are my preferred 'self defense' option if effective). Unfortunately, there are places here in the US where it might make sense to have a blade for defensive purposes against threats that aren't animals. Generally speaking, unless someone has good training with CQC knife skills against armed opponents, it's best to just run away. The knives I carry to use during my waking day to day existence were never meant to be used as weapons, but could be pressed into such a horrible role just like the keys, flashlight, etc. (I've also used knives specifically designed for fighting as effective work tools - there can be a lot of overlap, so to speak). Unless there is severe disparity between skills, there's no real "winner" in a knife fight. The loser goes to the morgue while the "winner" goes into the ICU. If you have any curiosities about knife nuts, like myself, please feel free to ask! You'll find that the vast majority of us carry due to how it helps us accomplish things, not for how deadly a given knife potentially is.
One of my favorite UA-cam channels. Thanks for sharing these with us. I started this video thinking “I really hope he has the Tkell nightstalker CQC in this lineup.”
I’ve always liked to carry bigger knives as a backup to my concealed carry. My knives are mainly for boxes and packages but I like having options for self defense. Sometimes a gun is not an option or even accessible if your getting ground pounded.
After Jerad said “if you wonder why I do the wrist spin, it raises testosterone!” “That’s a fact.” I imagine him saying I could throw a football a quarter mile in high school 😂.
Thanks for having the gonads for doing a self defense segment without tap dancing around the issue which is to have a good perp stabber on your person. I admire your knife withdrawal and deployment skills which is an important component of the situation. I suspect that many perps would reconsider their next move after seeing you manipulate and wind up your eviscerator. Good show!
Love your videos Neeves. But I am a true believer that MOST button locks would be total shit for self-defence in the traditional blade forward grip (maybe not the case in reverse grip). One small tap on that button and your knife fails and fingers will be severly damaged as a result. Those stupid little buttons are almost always in a position to be accidentally bumped. I have the Conspirator and I thought it was so cool until I realized just how easy it is for that knife to fail.
I've yet to find a defense purposed knife any better than my Benchmade Contegos. Fully ambidextrous with a 'out of the way' Axis Lock. I wear one on both sides.
Very cool vid, there are definatly some knives that are tools first and a possible weapon second on the other hand there are knives such as push daggers that are designed first and foremost as a weapon. The balance between EDC tool and weapon is a fine line that many look for and it's great that you showed some good options for those as well. Personally I always look for the tool first as I have zero training in knife fighting but for anyone looking to get a knife for self defense I strongly suggest getting some training as without it you'll just end up making a bad situation much worse. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I have to agree with your top spot choosing from these knives, but I wish they’d add some sort of thumb ramp to the Clinch Pick. But it came out a while back so no chance of making this list lol.

Would love the LAST knife with double edge, on the video with fi,ed blade last. Reminds little of an ELVIRA and the other one with the blade other way. If double, you could use it as a claw and in front.🥰
I can't imagine the button lock Elementum or Exo being good choices here. I have both but they're so fiddly, and the Exo is going to fail if your hand gets slapped. The thing is, you've got to be able to pull and deploy the tool if pinned/restrained/injured for it to be useful at all. I'm not talking about fighting necessarily either just any situation where you need a knife in action fast, you need a very reliable opening and a knife that locks itself out. For example that time I had to cut my coworker off of a trailer when the driver was peeling out (he would have been drug along the pavement).
@7:44 Impact of forward motion with resistance is different from a hammer strike with pull or drag. To be fair though if you are needing to stab something/someone out of self-defense it is already an extreme situation, so adrenaline is up and slicing your hand is the least of your worries.

My edc is an old ass buck 500 with maroon micarta scales and back when they made their blades with 440 ss. Back when that actually meant something, lol. It was my father's work knife when he ran a jewelry stand in the 90s. When he felt he needed something a little more.. defensive, he'd carry a buck 110. I do the same for the most part, but I live in a county I can open carry a sheath knife, so when I'm going out in the woods, or a neighborhood that I'm actually nervous to be in, I got my 120 pro with s35vn steel and olive green micarta handle. I love that knife. First s35vn I've ever had, and am very impressed with how much higher quality and tough the steel is. I straight machete wacked on a branch with it, and it was still sharp! I wanna get a s35vn/s30vn collection now, lol 🤣
Maxace just released the Rock, which looks just like the lemella for less money. Looks pretty wicked. And no Bastinellis on the list? You need to get some in for review man, they are THE self defence knives
lots of good knives. but in my opinion self defense knife should be at least 4.5" long (I'm no expert in this but taking to account range and how deeply it can penetrate this is what makes sense to me) and ideally somewhere between 5"-7"
Everytime I see the reate exo it mess with me, sending shrivers into my spine and all. Really really into those but is very hard to find. But yeah I need one to calm my very soul
26:33 We need to see more of her. 1.) She is funny 2.) Female perspective 3.) Thumbnails: you will get 3x the clicks. And as for the clinch pick by shiv works, in my opinion I would pay the extra 48 dollars to have this 2.0 version double edged. If I can make any argument for a knife better wiith two edges it is the clinch pick since it has the blade on the opposite side we are used to. And obviously a blade goes into everything faster, smoother is it is double edged. Shive works has some double edged choices going for 450 bucks! So the no frills basic one being 148 bucks seems even cheaper by comparison.
For my birthday my son bought from a coworker a microtech OTF for $50. Both my son and his CW didn’t know what they were looking at. That knife is got titanium hardware and titanium spacers. He said he could deploy it and it just had grease in it. $550 knife. Went online saw an add for a benchmade OTF with a 3” blade. Asking price $37.00. I took a $37 gamble and showed it to benchmade and I said just want to know if I was taken. It was gone through and I was told that’s a 2022 $500 knife. I said holy shit Batman! She didn’t know what she had or her significant other effed up and she was selling his knives. But both knives have M390 steel and glass breakers or skulls!!
They are quite beautiful I must say! Sorry but the lock up on these knives just doesn't seem like I could trust my life with them, it would have to be a fixed blade or coldsteel triad lock for me.
The problem with these knives is that almost all of them are spring knives and they are unreliable because you only get into trouble once and if they don't open because the mechanism fails, you're in serious trouble For my part, I prefer the folding manual knife for street self-defense 6:06 this is not good for anything 2:04 - 7:09 The blade of the knife is good, although on the one hand it is spring-assisted, and I would also modify the grip somewhat 10:34 the mechanism is a bit complicated, a stab takes place in two seconds, you don't have time to produce yourself with your multi-functional knife, I think it's useless in a self-defense situation 12:43 The blade is too small 15:33 You're worth more with a knuckle duster
This is a list made by someone who plays with their knives but has absolutely no combat training - cool knives but you dont handle them correctly and these are by far and away not the choice for “deadly knives”. “Tacticool” meh well maybe - but brother… well you just dont know what you dont know. But I am sure you feel tough in front of the mirror.
Unless you're in the Philippines or somewhere local where they offer weapons training, most people aren't gonna have "combat training" lmfao. Yeah he probably feels tough because who wouldn't when they have a knife or two that they think is badass. For what the video is, it's perfect for people who are starting out, I bet you feel real tough for being a know it all on A UA-cam VIDEO lmfao
There are no kill statistics for any knife. All the most lethal knives are chef knives - Wusthoff, Henckel, Messermeister. Give me 8 inches over 3 inches - in ANY context.

Everyone forgets about the CEO flippers, those things are dangerous. Stabbed myself a few times LOL.
Wait... the Ganzo Adimanti is only $60?!....
*adds to cart*
Watching romantic comedies raises estrogen
You sohould not mess with knives look at your finger
I like all your nice- how much do you selling
But when the handle gets covered in blood it slips
They are quite beautiful I must say! Sorry but the lock up on these knives just doesn't seem like I could trust my life with them, it would have to be a fixed blade or coldsteel triad lock for me.
The problem with these knives is that almost all of them are spring knives and they are unreliable because you only get into trouble once and if they don't open because the mechanism fails, you're in serious trouble
For my part, I prefer the folding manual knife for street self-defense
6:06 this is not good for anything
2:04 - 7:09 The blade of the knife is good, although on the one hand it is spring-assisted, and I would also modify the grip somewhat
10:34 the mechanism is a bit complicated, a stab takes place in two seconds, you don't have time to produce yourself with your multi-functional knife, I think it's useless in a self-defense situation
12:43 The blade is too small
15:33 You're worth more with a knuckle duster
Chill nigga
There are no kill statistics for any knife. All the most lethal knives are chef knives - Wusthoff, Henckel, Messermeister. Give me 8 inches over 3 inches - in ANY context.
I’m man enough to say it.. I’m a bit rattled after having Jerad shank 15+ knives at my face.
😆 🤣
