People hate on Fred but don’t forget he was made VP of interscope records. Before the media turned on him the mainstream take was Fred is everything you need in a great frontman as the industry had changed. Voice and ability to sing wasn’t as important as it once was. Instead you needed someone who was polarizing, that was intelligent when dealing with the media and fans. Not to mention Limp Bizkit is proof that 90% of so called fans are band wagon followers. The number 1 limp bizkit song I'd tell anyone to listen that perfectly showcases how awesome of a guitarist wes borland is the song my way. Wes Borland's guitar riffs in that song are insanely awesome. 💯🔥🤘🤘
All of his shit is well written and have a lot of complexity with tone etc. Plus they are just extremely original and he shreds the shit out of everything he plays. Dude is mind blowing.

Anyone who plays guitar knows Wes is a badass. Are his riffs crazy difficult? No, but you probably couldn’t make it “sound” like him because he plays with so much attitude and charisma
Everybody in Limp Bizkit (except for Fred like you mentioned), is actually very underrated. Even DJ Lethal, who added so much to the band by basically being a "second guitarist" with his turntable
Wes in my opinion and THIS is a REALLY HOT TAKE: is one of the best guitarists of all time. Especially because copying him one to one is impossible and almost always ends in a broken string
I love when people are like “these riffs were actually really good” like yeah no shit maybe thats why they were at the top of the charts for multiple years
Wes Borland is one of the reasons I play guitar to this day since I was 13. I’ve loved his style and he is massively. If you ever heard him in other some of his other work he is massively talented.

Wes Borland's artistic genius is easy to miss if you take his playing at face value. The understated simplicity of his playing betrays the effort and craft he pours into each piece of music. You can follow the tabs, but it takes a real artists touch to make the guitar parts come to life. You can smash out the riffs, but you have to pour in the feel to make them dance, and you need an artistic touch and knowledge of gear to get the little soudscapes just right. Wes is a Don.
