CKY is definitely one of the most underrated bands ever.
YESSSSS
when a band starts hitting the charts, I really wouldn't call them underrated, they def would have been bigger if the band didnt have their issues.
true
I'd say yes but they've only really had 4 albums. They couldve got bigger if they built on Carver city. Especially considering they just signed to RR
They are definitely one of the bands of all time
Deron is downright insane to be able to play that shit and sing at the same time. Such an underrated musician and song writer. Definitely one of the most unique styles out there.
I know right. Easily one of the most underrated artists of the 21th century. Carver City is a fucking masterpiece.
Since he joined malevolent creation he plays guitar and sings that stuff too totally boggles my mind
He is CKY
We all knew what #1 was going to be 😄 A riff for the ages!
Hahaha yeah, I couldn’t help but make that number 1
Deron straddles the line of lead and rhythm guitar so seamlessly. Him and Jess need to put aside their differences, cuz Chad ain't cutting it as the front man for CKY. 96 Bitter Beings sound more like CKY than CKY does... Deron is the missing ingredient.
He is CKY lol
Great list. Deron is so under appreciated.
Have you heard his new band, 96 bitter beings? Can’t wait to hear their next album!
Funny, that's a CKY song
Jesses drums are also under appreciated and soo iconic I love the tone they have. Great band.
He is a pretty humble guy as well. I saw them play at the viper room and after the show I'm having a smoke out front and he comes out pushing his half stack. I offered to give him a hand but he declined the offer. He chilled for a minute to chat, then found out I drove almost 200 miles to see the show. He couldn't believe it, and thanked me. Then I thanked him for being a badass musician. We thanked each other a few times then he was on his way. Dude doesn't seem to care about popularity, just wants to rock. His live vocals are so great imo.
@@electricfil What a guy, gotta love him.
Halfway House, To All of You, Promiscuous Daughter, Testing it Out, Behind The Screams, Close Yet Far. I could go on lol. Great job. 👍
Glad to see some love for Close Yet Far. It's definitely the CKY track I blask the loudest and most often.
@@PikkaBird I dedicated it to my mother a long time ago. When she heard the lyrics she cried because it described what she was going through. Now, I relate to it just as much as her. I was very proud to learn it for her on guitar.
Damn son I didnt realise CKY were actually well worth digging deep into! Thank you so much 😊
Glad to spark your interest!!! Thanks for watching 🙏
Carver City is fuckin badass
They are amazing. Polyiphia covered them the other night live in st Petersburg
Without a doubt!!!
My mom bought me the fuCKYou shirt for Christmas in high school and every time I wore it the teachers got mad at me lmao, it became my main concert shirt for awhile and I always told everyone how underrated they were
96 is the reason I picked up a guitar in yhe first place. Million dollar riff.
CKY is pretty much THE reason why I started playing 🎸
Deron is a incredible writer, people have bad things to say about him but I interact with him semi often and he's been nothing but an absolute sweetheart to me
First person I've ever seen showing love for Deceit is Striking Gold. Kudos!
Such a great song!
jam
So happy to see somebody make a video like this! CKY has so many under appreciated and underrated songs.
CKY has some of the must fun songs to play both and guitar and bass. Sink Into The Underground + All Power To Slaves really helped me learn to loosen my fingers on the bass when I first started. So glad to see someone showing them some love!
Knee Deep is probably my most memorable riff growing up, simple yet powerful
Dude!!! Perfection man!!
As a huge cky fan I really appreciate this video, nice work!
So many of their riffs are just pure nostalgia, and scream 90s.
They should be way more recognized then they are. Unique style and sound. That no one had before or since
6:33 With 96 Bitter Beings, Deron played this song more often than when he was in CKY
10:23 Shippensburg also released on Disengage The Simulator EP. Released before Vol. 2 came out
Vol 2 came out a year before the Disengage EP
I love their music!🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
How have i only just across this! Im half way through relearning AACBF and this was so cool to watch.
Been a massive CKY fan since my teens as well! Was cool to see Shippensburg in there!
you earned my subscription with this video my man! cky and deron miller in particular are the only reason i still play guitar to this day! no other songs are so satisfying to play, its just pure magic!
His riffs have brought me much joy for over 20 years now haha
Great job man!
great video. helped my find some new love for CKY
cKy (Deron Miller era) is one of my favorite bands. Their sound is so unique and amazing. Got me through somw rough times in my life.
My favorite band of all-time!!!
So happy you gave Karmaworks the love it deserves! Honorable mention has to include Knee Deep and Rio Bravo. They have so many great songs in their catalog.
Legend!!!
🔥 sickkkk
Yooo, sick video man!
Shippensburg has always been my favorite CKY song.
Love this dude!! Totally Underrated bad!
Dude awesome I love Cky probably the best riffs ever
That drumbeat from Rio grande to disengage was always my favorite
And then right into one of the most amazing rock riffs ever written 👌
When the levee breaks
Awesome video man!
Sick list, sick band, sick shirt!
Great video, great band!
CKY made me play again.
I'm not happy if I don't play Familiar Realm and Escape From Hellview at least once a day.
I need to learn Familiar Realm. I don’t think I’ve ever properly learned that main riff before
@@natebeatyguitar don't worry about it man, you managed to learn all the riffs you put up on this list so I'm sure that Familiar Realm will be an easy task for you 💪 keep up the good work!
So jealous of anyone who can play hellview lol. Kudos. I love Tripled Manic State as well. ♥️
Nice giving Karmaworks love. Def a jam
Awesome video, and glad to see some love for AACBF and Carver City too. Feel like a lot of the fanbase shut themselves off of post-IDR stuff
Thank you for watching! I LOVE everything the band has done with Deron (I do like their post-Deron stuff, too haha)
Ya Killin it Kid! Rock on!🤘
Love this bro. Testing is one of my favorite tracks too
Sooooo many people have mentioned Testing. I’m thinking I should do a full-on cover of that song 🤔
Deron is so good. One of my biggest musical influences.
Very nicely done brother!!
Great video and great playing! I've heard of CKY but this video has definitely led me into listening to them further.
Glad to be your gateway to the best modern rock band! 😉
Make sure you listen to Deron’s new band, 96 Bitter Beings
@@natebeatyguitar I will! Thanks, again for making this video!!
Didn’t know about the new band. THANKS! Also great video
amazing playing brother !
I love this. Cky is underrated af. An answer can be found is my favorite album for sure.i love all there albums with darren but man. So goood!!
Such a good band. Good dudes. Good skates. Good times. I’ll never forget those days…🫡
Thanks for the video, man. There're some songs, that i have never listened to
Shippensburg is such a banger
Use a clearer audio example at the beginning. Love this video homie. Deron is a riff machine. Huge influence on me as well.
Fucking love CKY, criminally underrated even with the Jackass/CKY(films)/Tony Hawk 96 Bitter Beings notoriety. I was lucky enough to see them once with the OG lineup in Pittsburgh and it is to this day one of my all time favorite shows.
Ill never forget the first time I fully dug into them and found ‘Disengage The Simulator’. It hit me in the soul and I was forever in love. Awesome compilation of CKY. You showed up in my recommended tonight and I’m excited to check out your other videos!
inhuman creation station is my favorote cky riff ! so badass
Nice video man, always loved the Genesis 12a riff myself, the slowed down alt rock version.
I wish the Arto/Rowley Part riff was turned into a full song
Happy to have stumbled upon your video. I love CKY. Your number ten is my number one, though our criteria are different as I don’t know dick about music. 😊
Great video man, cky rules and Deron is an absolute riff god. I think the unreleased song ‘Testing’ should be on here as well as the instrumental version of Disengage the Simulator! Awesome stuff dude, great playing. Familiar Realm also has some great riffs!
I agree with everything you said here, a#1 rules
Nice guide on CKY - from Australia.
Full body chills from start to finish. Especially Vol1, IDR and some older Foreign objects songs I will be rocking out till the day I die!
Quite bitter beings randomly played on my UA-cam music and I've never heard of it before or the band but absolutely fell in LOVE with the rift. Looked up this video out of curiosity and sire enough it's their number 1 XD
Riff machines. The guitar tone is one of a kind as well
You make them all look so easy, great video!
Thank you! Learning all these made me realize how often Deron Miller likes to start riffs on an upstroke, which is somewhat unusual for me haha
The bridge riff from dressed in decay is my favourite
I will always love their guitar tone
This is rad
I've waited years for a video like this
Me too! So I figured I would just make it myself haha
Props for learning all those riffs. My all time favorite CKY track is behind the screams. I don't fingerpick at all but i want to learn just to play it
Incredible list and awesome that you played all of them! Not being big on death metal I didn't realize how much of Deron's death metal influence really seeped in to how the songs were written and were may be typical of the genre just altered tempo.
What I've always loved about CKY's (miller's) riffs were that they were so full of movement and had character and Voice of their own. It was never just a simple 3 chord Melody to flesh out the song, it's almost like he loops snippets of solos or some thing so they have this adventurous catchy nature that's always moving around. Iconic band!
It’s like his riffs play the role of multiple melodic instruments 👌
Underrated band..... always been one of my favs....
great job and nice shirt
Great list. They have such a great, original riff style.
I will say however I think Rio Bravo is a glaring omission
great list..........listened to these guys for 20 years since i first saw cky2k, disengage the simulator is a riff you can play at a funeral....its powerful.............
The new 96 bitter beings is incredible also was a little disappointed that familiar realm wasn’t on here.
Toasters shirt and CKY riffs ?! Have my sub and like 🙏
Derons new band 96 Bitter Beings has played The Way You Lived live about 6 years ago.
Yep! I’ve seen the vid of it!
dude just went thru my aux chord playlist
Reminds me of being 14-15 years old, smoking shwag out of nestea cans, skating all day, and getting into so much trouble.
Great video!! Yeah i wish miller would come back!
would love to see a 96 Bitter Beings riff vid!
Ngl I keep coming back to this video 🥹🥰
That is so awesome. Thank you! 🙏
Ooooo you fuker, you rated all the songs i liked the most , bottom up!!! But thats great and i thank you for it!!!🎉 u introduced me to a lot of stuff i never heard from CKY!!! Thank you for the deep analyes ❤ love from Croatia
Im ngl, Ive never heard of CKY until very recently. I heard the opening riff of 96 quite bitter beings on an instagram reels vid and had to shazam it! Learned that riff, now time to listen to their other stuff
They are such a good band.
👏
You guys familiar with ‘Testing’? It’s an instrumental but a total banger! It was the first CKY song I learned to play.
Solid video brother!
Of course! Have you heard the full version Deron and Jess’ other band, Foreign Objects?
good ol days.
Go check out 96 Bitter Beings. Old CKY is still alive and kicking, just minus everyone but Deron (who was the mind behind it all anyway)
Starting to see a lot of cKy content lately. Looks like they are finally reaching well-deserved underground legend status
Deron’s on tour right now, posts tons of live footage on his instagram
i was expecting to h8 every mm of this but after listening to yr logic n how the band 1st started off as wanting to be a death metal band but didnt caught my ear more than anything maneee ... keep on keepin on ...
I always loved watching Bam's old CKY videos with all the demo/rough cut cky tracks included in them. My all time favorite from those has to be the original standard tuning version of Halfway House.
alternate version of halfway house?? you remember which video that was in?
It was in the CKY Documentary that came out after CKY 1. You can find it on youtube I think, sometimes it's referred to as "Halfway house (hard version)" or something similar
I played Carver City so much that I broke the CD and had to buy another one. It was tough to find another actual CD of it but it is phenomenal!
The ultimate modern rock album IMO
The intro of Days Of Self Destruction is also awesome!
Awesome song! I do like the current incarnation of CKY, but they just don’t hit as hard to me as the Deron era. I do prefer their EP over the full-length they put out
Deron Miller writes badass riffs. I just wish he sang live like he does on the cds.
you deserve waaayyy more subs bro
Spread the word! Haha
@@natebeatyguitar Oh sir i will!
I’ve been looking for the tabs for don’t hold your breath can you please do a video about that one.
Awesome tone bro great video!!!
Solid list and tight playing, dude. I’m a bit disappointed that Lost in a Contraption didn’t make the cut, but I can’t imagine picking these was easy because Deron is incapable of writing a bad riff.
I think you’re the first to mention Lost in a Contraption!
Very underrated song in my opinion and that bridge riff gets me every time.
Testing is my favourite CKY riff
the version of simulator with no vocals on the original demo is the #1 reason i play guitar today, and will always bring back some heavy feels ., Deron is a fukn rifflord and was def a huge influence on my playing, him and Brendon small a few years later. shitty holiday depression always makes me feel burnt out on guitar i always end up listening to CKY for nostalgic inspiration. oh, and ive been listening to alot of Nekrogolikon, stench and bonkers are good for when im in those creative flat spells.
Speaking of Nekrogoblikon, have you heard their cover of “Bodom Beach Terror?” 🔥🔥🔥
The Mission Continues
Ever notice almost all the best songs have that bounce rhythm? BU bu bu bu BU bu bu BU with the accents. Disengage, escape from hellview, sink into the underground, sporadic movement, 96qbb. Deron is the master at using that.
