@@truantray Heck, I was there crewing for a Formula Ford in the National Runoffs at the end of September one year, and we had snow on Sunday morning when we got up! It had melted by the time of our first race.
Feeling very spoiled recently... Epic Targa videos, Awesome Multi Class racing at Oulton Park, and now Can Am in GPL!! Thanks for everything you do! My favorite racing content creator :)
CanAm's are awesome, thanks for this trip into history. Saw a bunch of them at a historic racing event at the Nurburgring in the 1990s, epic cars and the noise was just spectacular.
I watch more of your videos than real racing. It’s more entertaining which speaks volumes about how boring real racing has become these days. Your videos bring back the same boyish and romantic feel for the sport that I had when I grew up in the late 60’s.
Dang, that was FUN! I first visited Mont Tremblant in the mid 70s. Turns 1 and 2 are the key to a fast lap there, but you need huge cajones to get the most out of it. Thanks for some great memories.
These past few days I've been opening UA-cam because I'm sick and have nothing to do, and everytime you had just uploaded and I wish this would never stop
I was looking at the grid like, "I know that car, and that car, and that car...", I've seen the real life versions of half the grid at Road America over the years 😂
Smashing the videos of late, great race, looked such a handful to manage, great to see mistakes and you carrying on unlike so many in sim racing who reach for the ESC key as soon as they run wide.
I really wish we got a GPL 2 that just went bigger and more with everything, from larger grids to weather and time of day changes and even various disciplines like sportscars, dragster and more.
Certainly an exciting track for challenging races in many series. Also a couple of versions of this venue done for AC which are fairly good. One by the Reboot Team and also a 1969 layout by Patrice Cole.
LoPeN raced this mod for a few months not long ago. I drove almost all the cars (badly) at one time or another. Given the lack of long drag-racing straights at St. Jovite (don't think we ran there), I suspect the little Olds-powered Genie would've been competitive.
I love Mont Tremblant! I've been lucky enough to race there a few times. I believe it's currently owned by Lance Stroll's dad, I wish he'd put some money in upgrading it a bit so it could be more spectator-friendly. It would be awesome to see IMSA or WEC go there. Apparently the locals don't like the noise though.
You forgot to mention how great the strip clubs were near San Jovite! That was the talk of the day back then when we’d travel to the Great White North.
Love your videos, I dusted my original gpl and loaded it on , would love to see a video of what you think is the best addons to get ect. Looking for the 68 mod at the mo, but thanks for the great series so far
The rule book being so thin is part of the reason it died. Well. The 1973 inflation and oil price hike had a decent chunk of the reasonage, but Can Am is a shining example of why “let em run what they want” isn’t sustainable.
At this point you should make a t-shirt that says "as the car gets all kinds of sideways" because it might be your most used sentence. Free merchandising idea!
Such a shame this track is hardly used for races anymore. There was a champcar race here in 2008 I believe but after that I don't remember much. I think the track is owned by Lawrence Stroll, but perhaps he liked to use the track for personal entertainment only?

Some of these wonderful machines still get driven, here is the 70:s McLaren M8D that Gurney drove going around Laguna Seca with Mika Häkkinen on the wheel. ua-cam.com/video/Z9hQqFIRA3E/v-deo.html Not near as much push as your race though! this was awesome to watch.
isn't it nice to see functioning AI. I'm not good enough to race online so it's only really Nr2003, GPL and ACC I can play. AC has everything I'd like apart from awful, awful AI.
Well, silly me. This race took place on September the 11th, not November 9th !
November in Quebec would need snow tires.
@@truantray are you from that famous fast three legged island?
Close enough considering what would become of the original date from a historical standpoint.
that's bad juju

Everyone stop what you are doing. GP laps has a new GP Legends series
Richie Axelson will always keep us entertained as long as he keeps driving, no matter what series

The best combination of History and Sim Racing!
Same thing I was thinking as you said that, the bridge looks just like the Road America track at that point.
Wow Jake you are certainly keeping busy right now😃👍
I love the Lola T70 ❤

Modern racing pales in comparison to the excitement and majesty on display in these videos

Oh hey Lewis. Fun fact, Tremblant is pretty close to me and a beautiful ski/golf resort type place.
I love this channel so much, such a great race and commentary. Can’t wait to get a pc, acc on xbox isn’t scratvhing the sim racing itch.
New GP Laps video? Yay
Features Can-Ams? Yay
Mont Tremblant? Tabarnak oui!
Fellow Canadians, say it with me now:
OHHHHH CANADAAAAA, OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAAAAAND!
Heavens Jake, you've been upping your output recently! Can't get enough. Cheers.
Thank you for all your effort!! Because of you i fell in love with racing games like this, Gtr2 , GT legends, Race 07 and P&G.
I enjoyed this so much, my eardrums are still bleeding but in a good way.
Babe wake up, new GPlaps just dropped
This cars are unique do to the fact that they started as a two seater and then became a single seater to race in Can-Am series now that is cool.
I don't know how you keep doing it this is pure gold. Hope we see a few more Can-Am races in your future.
That was one heck of a race!
This race was nerve wracking to watch, i was clenching my teeth the whole race. Awesome racing :)
Love this series
I really wish we got a GPL 2 that just went bigger and more with everything, from larger grids to weather and time of day changes and even various disciplines like sportscars, dragster and more.
Man, I really gotta get GPL and a bunch of the mods installed too, Sportscars 67, Canada 66 and 70. F1 68/69.
Great drama and all on the track! Thanks for the content. Always good!
you simply know when games have that unique "feel" (clichê, I know) and this is absolutely one of 'em.
Absolutely love this track, absolutely love this video
What an exiting track, especially the hump!
All the recent sims have focused on other series except Canam. It needs more attention with a full set of cars like the 67-71 seasons.
Those Esses... I've had some ridiculous slides through there in AC that I would love to pretend were intentional, but definitely weren't! Go Richie!
Well this was a treat. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
That was some tasty racing. Great cars.
sadly i only have one game that includes Mont Tremblant, but I DO love driving on it whenever I have the chance.
I wish I was able to see this series just saw last few years

HELLO GP THIS HAS MADE ME HAPPY THANK YOU! 😊😊😊
Richie Axelson - The Legend!
Another cracking race Jake. Definitely could have had the win. Looking forward to the next one.
Fantastic racing!

YES! I was hoping this would happen!
Yes!! Another Richie Axelson series!
well, this looks demanding. Good driving
Ah, not only another great video, but now I know how Lothar Motschenbacher's name was pronounced!
If they're as twitchy in GPL as the ones converted to rFactor then that was an absolutely heroic drive.
I saw round 2(Bridgehampton) in person.
Very jealous of that sir!
@@GPLaps We went the following year too!
Loved this one!
Great race!
That was tough Richie. So close but not quite there. Maybe next time?
😮 [gleeful hand-rubbing] CanAm!

96mph race average? Very respectable.

Mount Treblant is still around thanks to a restoration after just left to rot for a decade. It's now just a track day, track

Can-Am is Enzo Ferrari's worst nightmare.
I love it.
You should try an all-american multi-class race, can-am with trans-am.
It strikes me that their roll bars were shorter than the drivers sitting in their cars, don’t know how accurate these models are though
At this point you should make a t-shirt that says "as the car gets all kinds of sideways" because it might be your most used sentence. Free merchandising idea!

Yeah, but good enough for a 26 year old sim. Older than a lot of sim racers these days.
