Michael Gove Seems To Both Fear And Hate Democracy - General Election
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 чер 2024
- Tory Michael Gove appeared on the Kay Burley show following another poll that spells disaster for the Conservative Party. He knows that he can't convince people to vote for his party based on its record so it seems the plan is to scare people away from backing Labour. But will it work?

Sorry, Tories, no-one believes a word any of you say. Especially Gove.
He’s probably been on the White Powder again!
@@DerekHarrison-ue9vv he’s never been off it
I can’t repeat what my ex says about him
That's Tories Red and Blue!
For sure !
He never had a problem when the Tories had the majority in Parliament
Exactly, don't seem to remember Labour bleeting like this when Johnson was going to win a massive majority.
Odd that, isn’t it. It’s probably just Gove trotting out a flood of horse-diarrhoea again, like the Experts thing. He’s a nasty piece of work.
The only thing he fears is a criminal investigation into his behavior
He’s a washed up coke head
Yes who gave Mone the money for her Mickey Mouse PPE company in the VIP fastlane ? Leaving reputable PPE manufacturers out of the loop. I have heard the name Gove mentioned concerning this.
That and upsetting uncle escobar 😂
labour can't govern whilst merely pointing to the failures from the conservatives, they'll have to prosecute to pin them down as more than scapegoats.
I think he's got his fingers in the till in the Teesside Freeport money pit.
Vote him OUT !
I think he wimped out
He shit out and ran away from the Polls.
All the Tory cowards like Gove are going to ruin my election night fun 😡
He's standing down. Shame - I used to work for him until he closed my department as 'unneccessary'. I was so hoping to see the electorate declare him to be the same - I feel cheated and emotionally deprived. (Sort of.)
@@JohnDavies-cn3roYes, it's a shame he bottled it. It just goes to show how duplicitous he is. Still, there will be plenty of other Portillo moments in the early hours of 5 July and, with luck, some even uglier scalps than Gove's. Hunt, Jenrick and Mordaunt are in my sights. Sunak himself is now a possibility. I'm originally from the East Midlands and trust that the good people of Bassetlaw and Mansfield return to Labour and kick out the obnoxious Brendan Clarke-Smith and Ben Bradley, though I fear for Ashfield.
The Slug of British Politics !!
Dont insult slugs
Not a slug he`s a dirty little germ !!
Oddly I've always thought of him as a slug too. Thought it was just me 😂
Rigging??? What about voter ID?? Even Mogg admitted gerrymandering. 🤦♂️
See also: giving "expats" who've lived abroad for more than 5 years their voting rights back... except even that seems to have backfired.
Totally. Spot on. The number of constituency boundaries that have been moved to improve their chances is bordering on gerrymandering also.
@@passenger62 Actually, that is exactly what gerrymandering means; moving bounderies to to improve chances of being elected. When Mogg used the word for the voter ID farce, he demonstrated his ignorance of its actual meaning. But in a very posh accent though to fool the credulous
Slimey hypocrite
The party that tried banning peaceful protest now care about democracy 😂😂😂
Good to see push back against Tory gaslighting ❤
Gove doesn't walk he slithers !
most reptiles do
Reptiles are useful, slugs aren't.
Micheal Gove is the kind of politician the word "shitweasel" was created for.
This from the man who was happy to prorogue Parliament illegally and lie to the queen about it.
He is the slimeball of the party.
Once The Tories are kicked out of power he'll have enough time to do as much snorting as he wants 😤
Playing the Trump card I see !!
“I’m worried that Labour are going to be entrench themselves in power to put through policies, and that’s not right. Only MY party should be allowed to do that!”
Seriously, Labour have been held to higher account while in opposition than the Tories have in government at times. I don’t know what he’s talking about.
Spot on there.
Neither does he. I think hes lost his line
Neither doe's he (sniff sniff)
It's not about getting your message across, it's that your message is proven to be a lie!
It is getting across and that's why they are tanking.. we read you loud and clear 😂
Everything they say or do only makes it worse for them.
fearmonger all you want Gove. You're finished. I'm voting Labour and so will millions of other Brits. You've had your chance. You've been in power for over a decade and your record is not good:
NHS dentistry is almost non existent
NHS doctors and nurses are underpaid and under-appreciated
Many uk doctors have left for other countries like Australia where they can get better pay
Waiting lists are so bad now that some people are giving up on the NHS altogether and going private- privatisation through sheer neglect
Water companies are polluting rivers up and down the country and seem to mostly be getting away with it
The pandemic was handled poorly and not even the prime minister at the time could follow his own lockdown laws
Truss ruined the economy with un costed tax cuts for the rich
Brexit has been a complete disaster yet they are all determined to either ignore it or perform mental gymnastics in their head to make Brexit a good decision despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary
There's been countless examples of appaling behaviour by conservative MPs including, bullying, sexual harrassment and corruption
I could honestly go on but I'd die from exhaustion
I'm voting labour just give the Tories a bloody nose. For one, it's the weakest of manifestos, two we would have to put you with it for 5 years, three the closer Starmer has gotten to power the more pledges he has dropped now the lobby money has found it's way too him and lastly i haven't forgiven Labour for their last broken promises.😊
Well said
@@b00ts4ndc4ts: What pledges has Starmer dropped?
@@timonsolus all of them but those that may be left have been watered down.
@@b00ts4ndc4ts : What? If Starmer has dropped ALL his pledges, how come the Labour manifesto isn't a blank sheet of paper? I don't understand
Spent 14 years entrenching themselves with the help of a majority Right leaning press. Bit rich.
The blocker of government transparency! Roll on Scottish Independence!
No Scottish or Welsh voter should even think about voting for a unionist party. SNP, Scottish Greens, Alba, and plaid Cumru can pose as much a threat to the tories as any of the English political parties.
Saor Alba. YES.
@@audreymcgready4329 🙂
SNP all the way.😊
Yes🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴 I see Prince William is a true unionist supporting England and attending their matches. No mention of Scotland 🏴. There is no Union.
The use of the word "super-majority" in the UK media is a big fat red herring. 😮
Yes, it’s funny how they never mentioned it when it was their own party with the large majority.
Someone should ask the Conservatives who mention the “super-majority” if it was a problem back in 1924-29, when the Conservatives under Stanley Baldwin won 412 seats out of 615 in the 1924 election.
"The people have spoken"
@@johnpoile1451 We sent our postal votes yesterday morning, so these two people have 😀👍.
"Strong independent media" LOL.
The Tories wouldn't have lasted this long if we had that.
TRUE
They’re pathetic.
How hypocritical can you get? When the Tories changed the constituency boundaries they did it to rig the system in their favour. When they brought in voter ID they did it with the intention of rigging the system too. Jacob Rees Mogg came right out and said so. I wish the interviewer had called him out on those things.
I think an independent organisation controls boundaries but your other two points are valid. I don't think political Gerrymandering is possible in the UK, though if it was the Tories would try it.
@@michaelstirling3029It's called the Parliamentary Boundary Commission. It's all to do with balancing the electorate size for each constituency. Theres various public inquiries and written depositions.
My first job in the early 80s was working for them. The quote from my boss on Newsnight was "Politics? We don't touch it with a 30 foot disinfected barge pole"
Democracy is at last making these political blackguards accountable for the grevious wrongs they have inflicted on the British people.
It’s so entrenched in him that ‘his sort’ of people should be in power that anyone else having it is ‘fixing the system’
“The peasants are revolting!” 🤮
Not as revolting as the corrupt tory party
We certainly are :)
Now we're rebelling
It ok for the Torys to have a large majority but not labour 🙄
OMG labour could do what we’ve been doing for 14 years. How dare they.

Rigging the system? Voter ID - Electoral spending limits - Suppressing protests - ...
Rigging the system. Voter ID anyone ?
Ah yes, but it favours the older voter who are 'their' voters.
@@steveholmes381 exactly
Absolutely so. And the genius ReeSmog even said it out loud!
After not being able to hold Tories to account on what they have done. Why should they be the ones to be the opposition and demand answers from Labour once they are in?. PMQ's never a question was answered by them or it was answered with lies. I do not want to hear Tory voices ever again.
It’s satisfying that even they know how hated they are
A majority is a majority and the Tories have had one for the last 5 years. What a nob

Curchill wasn't a big fan of Democracy either.. Imperialists aren't.
He certainly said it was a terrible form of government; however he did say every alternative was worse…
He also said the greatest argument against Democracy was the man on the Clapham omnibus.
@@johnpirie4804 Well, now it's the Clacton omnibus.
Spot on.
He's upset that the serfs won't vote for his party. He doesn't believe they should have the right to do that.
I would love the Lib dem to be the official opposition.
🤞
Me too. A Lib Dem opposition would challenge the Labour Party on maintaining Brexit, something the Conservatives obviously won’t do because they support it.
He fears and hates experts too.
"Rig the system" Pot Meet Kettle!!
I miss the old days when a Government was proud of its' record and would remind us voters of all the good things they have done.
Things like him are eating my runner bean plants
It's strange how super majorities didn't apply when The Tories had it.....
As usual one rule for them and another rule for everyone else !
The Conservatives had a super majority in 1924-29
The adjective "Tory" is intrusive and unnecessary where Gove is concerned. He's a prize nutter.
If Gove is a nutter, then he's an evil one who knows how to line his own pockets at everyone else's expense.
Tory, is a corruption of an Irish word meaning, evil brigand. Apt I always thought.
They fear labour having a big majority. Because it hard to come back from where they fail

Gove , good grief
Like the tories did when they introduced IDs for voting then
Gove is standing down as an MP. Gove is fearing that his political history will be marked as one of the key MPs who were responsible for obliterating the Conservative Party of UK political map.
So basically his answer is democracy isn't about who will do best for the country. Yet he thinks parties in charge should be just random.
By ‘vigorous media’ he means billionaire owned pushing right-wing views. He wasn’t so worried about majorities over the last 14 years - now suddenly it’s a problem. I really want them humiliated - I’d have no problems at all with twenty years of properly elected Labour governments. In the event we have a Labour majority on 5th June I for one will be very happy.
July, friend.

Sneaky slimey gove🤦
Spot on analysis. Entitlement in spades. He seems incapable of even understanding the contempt in which we hold his party and the reasons for it
The same "super majority" the Tories wanted in 2019 for their oven ready brexit...is now a bad thing
Rigging the system?? Not only did Johnson illegally seek to get the late Queen to prorogue parliament, Tories introduced rules about photo ID at polling stations to try to disenfranchise poorer people and younger people who were less likely to have it. Not all photo ID is acceptable, Bus passes for pensioners are but student union ID cards or travel cards for example and
Veteran Id cards are not. Rees Mogg himself admitted that the scheme did not work as they hoped it would. ,
Totally unhinged
My MP said to my face about this super majority rubbish. When I pointed out Johnson had a big majority she responded that it was only 80 majority
WTF have the Tories been doing throughout all the years!!!
Getting rich...er.
Lying stealing and cheating
Why does nobody counter with " but the Conservative Party has had a HUGE MAJORITY !!!!" 😱
Soon he'll be gone forever.
Democracy hates Gove too
"We know Labour wants to give people voices in our democracy, how dare they! It's rigging the system if representation is better!"
Let's just ignore the Tory gerrymandering that occurred with the boundary changes... (or that they had 65% of the seats with 45% of the vote)

Hi Max Good Afternoon Everyone ❤
Gove deserves to be a member of his party!
Gove has to stop speaking like he's doing a dramatic reading all the time. Put him on Jackanory, and away from the the reins of power.
I am not in the habit of taking advice from a druggie.
Are we having a double standard here?
16 year olds have a greater idea of what is going on than many elderly people particularly those who have tried to use Camhs or social services to keep them safe .
Why do they give gove air time it’s horrendous
Gove sounds rather paranoid.
What types of substance are known to produce such an effect?
I have long thought that Michael Gove is actually Wormtongue who escaped from the Lord of the Rings.
Losing certainly hurts Michael, doesn't it?
Is Gove afraid that Labour will look into who funds Tufton st and publish the names in the name of democracy and perhaps clamp down on offshore tax cheating. Is that the real fear being expressed here?
They should never get a voice again
TOFFS TOFF doesn’t no where to run and hide he can’t find his Nannies what a sopp

He's just grumpy because he's not had a line yet
I love that he thinks Labour getting more votes is dangerous - as you say Max, a supermajority is not a thing in the Commons.
Does everyone get why I call him 'Slappface' now?
‘People have had enough of Michael Gove’
They preach democracy when it is working for then but as soon as they're about to be put out suddenly democracy is being questioned.
