At certain points Sunak would be ranting and the host would be also asking a question of Starmer at the same time in a vain effort to try and shut Sunak up. Regardless of Starmer’s attempt to respond, and patiently waiting for a pause, the noise was cacophonous and unproductive. The main media channels proved they wanted control of the format and failed to deliver it. A more forceful presenter was needed to keep the responses to their time limits, content to question asked, and candidates allowed to respond respectively and respectfully. It would appear the frothy shouting match of a bear pit is what they often achieved. A joint debate on BBC and ITV in one sitting could’ve saved us all a wasted hour or two, and there was more drama in the Euros to get excited about.
The Reform plant may be a thing, a valid question was proposed and his question was more akin to the USA debate, rather than prevalent UK grumbles.

All those years of wasting taxpayers money on bad schemes like £360m to Rwanda and giving the French £600m for next to nothing, dishing out money for PPE equipment not fit for purpose and getting their mates to create false companies so they could get their grubby hands on over £10 billion pounds that they thought they would get away with, if Kier Starmer gets his way he will go after all the corrupt thieves whom stole that money, he’s a bit wet but he’s got Tories to fry and hopefully he will expose all of them including Rishi the rats wife and all the millions of pounds worth of contracts she got! If doctors have to make disclosures/whistlblow, then MPs, putting party loyalty aside, should be compelled to report wrong-doing.

I always find it interesting when parties resort to scaremonger about their opposition, you see it less in PR countries, but it happens here too. It is telling as it indicates their greatest accomplishment is being "Not party X". If you gave Starmer an open mic and a TV camera, he could probably go on for 3 hours about Labour polices and plans, without comparing to the Tories. Here in 30 seconds, Sunak's strongest move were to lie about Labour, so he knows that the Tory policies and plans won't excite voters.

Terrible this man Rob. In favour of the politicians I have to say that it is impossible that they always have to justify their behaviour. Rob forgot to say that Sunak, when he was Chancelllor, stated: "Not all will receive the Brexit they have voted for."

I watched this and for some reason “Robert” was applauded and later interviewed by the BBC as if it was a very poignant question. In truth, it was pointless and a wasted question. One of them will be prime minister and so talking about their credentials is irrelevant now. We know what each one is about!! Who is the more decent, relatable and socially aware and isn’t just about himself and the party! I can’t with all honesty say it’s Sunak!

I think it is right to ask if these two are the only options available. Also, I'm not a Reform UK voter, but I think that it isn't too far off to claim that Keir Starmer is at least influenced by senior figures in the Labour Party (such as Peter Mandelson) to make the party resemble the Blairite period.

Complaining about the candidates just shows a complete lack of political understanding. The choice is simply between the Labour party who whilst not perfect at least show that they will be trying to improve the lot of the nation and public services, or the Tories who are traditionally only out to benefit the top 1%.

Rishi taking credit for bringing down inflation, which he has bugger all to do with. Then he takes credit for wages rising faster than prices, yet there's always a lag for that during times when inflation rises and then falls again.
He is quick to take credit for things which he has nothing to do with, and completely incapable of making any effective decisions. I really do hope he loses his seat.

When Margaret Thatcher was elected in 1979 the top rate of income tax was 83% and VAT was levied at 7.5% on a limited amount of luxury goods. The top rate of tax is now 45% with 20% VAT levied on just about everything. Homeowners payed rates and now private rental tenants pay council tax, and the threshholds on capital gains, inheritance and other taxes keep rising. The wealthiest in the country have been well served by governments both Labour and Tory for 45 years. Yet still they need more tax cuts. Tax cuts funded as per the past 45 years by passing on the tax burden to the poorest in our society.

That's as should be if anyone has a private pension that takes them over the tax threshold after they have had their free state pension. And it has always been the case. The Tories have deliberately frozen the tax threshold to bring more and more private pensions into tax.
